<<<- CS continues to drop after attempt to reassure employees
is leaked
CS, dropped about 7.5% in Zurich trading, extending the decline of the past month to 26%, and 60% for the past year. American depositary receipts of Credit Suisse fell 7% in premarket trading. The cost of insuring the firm’s debt against default rose the highest since the financial crisis in 2009 last week.
Koerner, who started as CEO in July, told employees on Friday that the bank is at a critical moment before outlining plans for a revamp on Oct. 27. In a memo leaked over the weekend of talking points for clients and shareholders, the bank said it has capital buffer of close to $100 billion and expects a 13% to 14% ratio for its highest quality equity capital this year, according to The Wall Street Journal.
Credit Suisse has endured a string of setbacks over the past few years, including the collapse of family firm Archegos Capital Management that cost the bank $5.1 billion.
Credit Suisse has pledged to overhaul its investment bank and exit other businesses to become less risky. It has a large domestic business as well as competing globally in wealth management and asset management.
The company’s declining market value has raised concerns that it will struggle to raise money by selling new shares to pay for restructuring. There hasn’t yet been any formal approach to shareholders about new fundraising, the Journal reported.

7 things t watch after a cold quarter for the stock market: Morning brief
This week will bring results from Conagra, Constellation Brands, McCormick and Levi's. These reports will provide much-needed insight into the mindset of a consumer who is still being hurt by inflation and is now seeing their 401ks shredded. Does Conagra's frozen food business see a lift from consumers trading down from eating out? How is Constellation's Corona brand doing with restaurant traffic showing more mixed trends of late? Will Levi's — a rare retail winner in 2022 — follow peers VF Corp. and Nike by warning about the holidays? I think all of these reports could be mixed at best, and inject the latest dose of fear into an already nervous market.

Mish<> Opec Fights the Fed, Crude jumps- Cuts production a million barrels a day. Also, Biden blames big oil companies for excessive profits.
MISH10 HOURS AGO
-->Senior Biden administration official pressed executives from some of the largest US gasoline producers to curtail overseas sales during a tense meeting Friday afternoon, suggesting that without voluntary action, the government could force the industry to stockpile more fuel in US tanks.
Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm and other administration officials chastised the industry representatives for low diesel stockpiles, floating the possibility of export limits and a requirement for oil companies to hold minimum fuel inventories inside the US, according to people familiar with the matter who asked not be named describing the private virtual meeting.
In addition to Granholm, the session included representatives from Exxon Mobil Corp., Marathon Petroleum Corp., Phillips 66 and Shell Plc, as well as National Economic Council director Brian Deese and Amos Hochstein, a senior energy adviser at the State Department, according to a person familiar with the matter.
“The president’s team emphasized that energy companies with record-high profits, record high exports and record-low inventories must step up and bring down prices at the pump,” the Energy Department said in an emailed statement.
Administration officials stressed their concerns with increased petroleum product exports and complained companies were collecting high profits while failing to address low fuel inventories, the people said.

Myovant Sciences shares surge premarket
Jumped more than 25% in premarket trading Monday after the biopharmaceutical company said it had received and rejected a bid to be taken private by its majority shareholder.
Sumitomo Pharma Co., which currently owns about 52% of Myovant, made a non-binding proposal to buy the rest of the company for $22.75 a share in cash, a nearly 27% premium to Friday's closing price of $17.96.
But Myovant said the proposal, which carries an enterprise value of about $2.5 billion, significantly undervalues the company, adding that it is open to considering an improved bid and that it is ready to engage in talks with Sumitomo.
Myovant shares were recently changing hands at $22.67, up about 26%, in premarket trading.
