Interesting, livefree, and some here may delve deeper, including me. But really, at first blush doesn't this seem like bat sh-t crazy stuff?
In fact, here are some initial counterarguments I ran across. Of course it would be great if these treatments actually worked.

Too Infinity and beyond we go, we are not a DUD and we are not close to being Dunn...we have not even started yet!!!!
PJ, you're almost a poet, and on Bob Dylan's 80th birthday, we know it. (Sorry for mixing metaphors or whatever).
"but rather to truly try to understand the thinking of people on this message board that believe that a good trial result will result in IPIX's drug magically available to millions of people in the third world overnight..."
120 is a small sample, to say the least and we have not even addressed the need for a Ph3. But a great, even a good result would bode well for B for quite a while. You list many of the difficulties in ramping up production, and there are others you did not mention that we needn't fuss over. My point is simply that covid shows no signs of an early, world wide resolution; an effective treatment will help the world and IPIX. Simple as that. For years to come. None of this will be easy, no magic implied or assumed.
"Successful vaccines killed B's profit potential."
India? Brazil? Africa?
"We weren't willing to raise $30M to run a phase 3 but we were willing to sell 75% of the 2014 company to bring us this point?"
Good point, Lemon, though not one I am particularly fond of seeing. Leo is cautious. If we are successful, he will wear very well. If not....
The Winfield Hospital is actually a branch of Northwestern University Hospital System in DuPage County, Illinois on Winfield Drive, in the town of Winfield. Legit.
Good points, Frenchie.
Thanks, for the deeper dd, KMBJN. I missed the Pfizer antiviral treatment and, as I have been reminded, there have been multiple references to it here, which all blew by me.
Nice post. The old American saying: "Your right to swing your fist ends at the tip of someone else's nose." is still in effect. We are not free to damage the well being of others.
Potential Competition for Brilacidin as an anti-viral treatment for covid

An anti-viral treatment for covid is now being tested by Pfizer. I couldn't find much more than what I posted above.

More anti-biotic benefits of B for C, if B is approved.
Nice post steelyeye, just catching up on my reading.
Wouldn't that have been great, but no, not that I heard.
Happy Mothers Day to all.
Great post, biodoc.
And, from the americaspharmacy.com website, the efficacy of the combination of bamlanivimab and etesevimab is questionable, despite all of the sales. A proven effective B would be a real profit generator.
"I am not a drain on the health system and it pisses me off that my freedom is being taken away. I believe that everyone should have the right to do what they feel is best for themselves.."
Lily, do you consider it an infringement on freedom to require that all children are inoculated against common childhood diseases before being allowed to attend school?
Rd, this is so hard to stomach.
Good goin' jav0033, every option is worth pursuing. Especially since IPIX is already on the continent.
" I am finding myself increasingly concerned."
Me too (and good to have smart docs science guys on the mb, I do appreciate that).
Besides you and your close colleagues who you will presumably tell about IPIX and B, is there any public knowledge about B anywhere else in the hospital or in other facilities of which you are aware? This is not a loaded or rhetorical questions, just an ask?
Everything you said is true, but that does not discount the value of these types of articles. Elsevier is one of the world wide leaders in publishing technical articles, books, and related materials (Ok, it is not always Cambridge level of status, but what is). Your comment about this not being NEMJ quality is no doubt true. But the NEMJ, Lancet, AMA, AHA etc. can only publish so many pieces, and if you are not in the Big guys club (with some of the potential conflicts of interest that can sometimes imply) you have no choice but to publish where you can. If it is an Elsevier publication I feel it can have some/decent, inherent merit. I have shot from the hip here and have made my own assessments of quality, others may differ.
I usually go along on the dips, not huge amounts. This time it has been harder to do that, so far, at least.
I agree Minnie. I've told the story too many times here about my being in a double blinded, minoxidil hair study in which we all knew the drug had some good to great effects. We could see the hair growing on some previously bald or balding heads. But at the time, lots of us were at one site, and came in every month or so. This is certainly not the case with the multi site IPIX covid study.
"Could Brilacidin be the answer? Looks like it could be...How much could that be worth?"
Great post, Justfacts. Reasonable speculation.
"unfortunately, many here are not rooting for this to happen, I wonder why?????"
My take is a bit different, PJ. Lots of folks are down on Leo's management style because our pps is just a couple of dimes despite some really strong potential products. When you are loosing your azz, it is hard to smile and be totally positive, especially when you see folks like the greedy (but powerful) MMs buzzing around. But I wouldn't assume lots of these folks aren't hoping for the best, they are just not cheerleaders. Me either. Just tryin to stay balanced.
I almost hate to type this, but if we see a strong Ph 2b the pps might pump high enough to where Leo can finance the Ph 3 through further dilution. JMO.
"It is a pretty huge excuse to generate lots of spending."
Lily, approaching 600,000 dead still seems like a big del to me.
That's nuts, I wore one for many hours each day at 911, and though hard, nobody passed out that I am aware of.
Unfortunately, or fortunately, depending on your viewpoint, truth is always a defense.
That would be good, but also a real chance. A couple of years ago Motley Fool reviewed a little bio that had great potential, but more than a few million dollar salary parasites; after the review, which said just that, the company tanked for years.
"At least back then they had OM in progress"
I thought it was still there, and B for ABSSSI, AF and..... All not looking like quick, ready money, for sure, but they have not disappeared.
Very few who are vaccinated get covid infections. But the handful who do are to be expected (my words, the article appears below).
https://www.gastroenterologyadvisor.com/general-gastroenterology/thousands-of-vaccinated-people-in-us-infected-with-covid-19/?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=gas-update-hay-20210427&cpn&hmSubId=QMqxYuklsMg1&hmEmail=LQnywRXkwFIUv5pNToHwxDh3l-C0VOAd0&NID=-1&email_hash=ada783b62c848f3430da90d1edaebea5&mpweb=1323-132704-6680291
I don’t post but I had to post this
Why not post?
"I am in with the 41% of Americans that are NEVER jabbers"
Sad. Really.
Nice catch, Max. Appreciate the dd.
I agree, Pete. Leo can p--- me off for never answering my questions (though I have stopped trying) but the Russian test was a good decision.
Wife and I got Pfizer, side effects but none horrible. Children J and J with none. However, a close friend's daughter-in-law was one of the 15 (and counting) that had the blood clots, huge issues, just got out of the hospital. My friend was philosophical, saying, "Ok, 15 of 6 million had bad side effects, and maybe one in a quarter million women in child bearing age got the serious side effects. Still, worth the chances, by a lot, though I am not nearly as confident as I once was." I agree, his concerns are well stated. Staring death in the eye affects you.
"And what if Putin spills the beans before the FDA on how effective Brilacidin is for Covid?"
Putin likely has no knowledge of B for C right now, but if the Ph 2b is a success, who knows what strange (and good) things could be in store for IPIX. Russia has some evil and strange politics, but its science sector appears strong, reflecting is high quality education system. I know there are real anomalies here, but they are not necessarily negatives for IPIX.
The 3 feet distance is one suggested by CDC for students in well ventilated rooms. See below:
