You are playing with your broker's money.

If you have no cash in the account, then maybe -- at least that is the traditional broker written justification for the rule.

I say "maybe" because the three day settlement rule is little more than brokers playing with our money for three days. It was a lot more reasonable decades ago when it often took three days to get all of the data accumulated.

Today, however, brokers, like banks, have more than enough computing power to settle all trades on the day they occur. That they do not (aside from the rule) gives them the use of our money for the three days.

There have been a couple of times in the last hour when a compose screen has been a bit slow to load forward to post or appear as an edit and one occasion about 5 minutes ago where I repeatedly unable to access the site -- made me check SI to see if they had both gone down again.

Trust me (and I'm not from the government) it does work. Where is AK with a suitable picture when one really needs one. Until he finds something, try this as a proof of concept. Just think of it as a 3-5-4-3 triple play. It is one heck of a scoring nightmare and does not occur often.

Just got the call from the CPA (today is the real tax day). I can splurge on the casino credit to my heart's content (well, almost) and in 10-15 days will have a nice check from IRS to cover it. On the other hand, some decent winnings could make this a banner month.

There ought to be some way to sell or trade the $3500 a year capital gains write offs much like companies buy and sell pollution credits.

This could start a new HUGE rumor. Bull gets the coveted 6900 grub and then Susie "jumps in" for some 6902 (69 too) while rofl. Of course, viewed in the full and proper context, rofl makes much more sense. If either one responds back with 6942 (69 four two), then it will no longer just be a rumor. Just to make this somewhat on topic, I would say Go Astros, but they already gagged and blew it. The networks would love a Chicago--Boston WS (throwback jerseys would be nice if it happens) and will hate a NY-Fla WS. No one anywhere will care and no one in Fla will stay up late enough to watch the whole game. It will be great fodder for the stand up comedians, however, in either case.

Addressing it to Matt will get him quicker boot hill attention. Mikey has been fried more times with more aliases than probably anyone else. Every few months, he cranks up a new alias that manages to post without incident for one to twenty days. Eventually, however, he gets TOS'd or someone recognizes his writing style. Search members for mikey and you get a flavor for some, but far from all of the aliases. Matt is kind enough to us to let us take pot shots, er I mean, let him stay in jail for a bit before he gets fried.

Mikey, you see, has this thing against NVEI -- and lots of good reasons for it, but that has long since been beside the point with him and the NVEI thread on IHub. For better or worse (and it has never done anything but worse), it is one of those "emotional" stocks that becomes an investment because it has declined too much to bother selling. It brings fanatics on both sides much like other regular jail house contributors.

Mikey's promise to abide by the TOS is probably sincere: he probably intends to try and do so. Unfortunately, you can be almost 100 percent certain that there will be a gap between the promise and the reality; it may be a day or it may be a month, but it is certain to happen.

I did not miss it -- at least not directly. I grabbed the 8998 palindrome and got set up for the 9000. Just before I posted it, however, I thought, "Wait a minute: 8900 is not much of a grub, I'll just pass." I deleted the compose window. Of course, I must have been having a blonde moment for you since 9000 and not 8900 follows 8999.
