No churning until November, if GW is "for real" and with it VERY soon on Azure, many in the business would very soon test it, know it, write about it...one way or another very soon we and lots of others will undeniably know
If it is DISrupting then very, very soon, it will be DIScovered.
We have AT LEAST two major news items on the short term horizon, so I disagree on the long wait until November:
1) Finally, GW out in the open, ! Launch on Azure with all the coverage that can then ensue as it will finally be "out there" by everybody to use and test. Unless it proves non-special vaporware, we non-techies will finally be able to see it, read about it in industry reports etc. etc. It will VERY soon now be evident if GW is special or not, but the veil will be lifted and it be out there for everybody to test and write about. Finally light at the end of the tunnel...finally the end of guessing if ANY is on to something and if Glassware is ANYthing special will arrive..LONG (in both meanings of the word) before November!
2) Business seems to be doing fine, progress on Novarad front AND a new 200 institution deal...The size strongly indicates that this is not the office of Dr. John Smith down the road! This is going to be a new reputable major corparate partner/client! Great to have as another reference and very nice to see in incoming revenue build up...this could also hit ANYtime the official wires as they clearly sounded.
Anyway, I dont know the exact day on which 1) or 2) or any other news will now arrive, but we all heard at least 1) and 2) are coming very soon no. 2 will be great for revenue and reference, and no. 1 could propel us to industry (dis)coverage VERY quickly
Actually it might very well have been the shorts: They have a lot money invested and were incredibly and undeniably pissed off about them about them issuing a goal in the open letter and the last cc and circumventing regulations about guidance with the clever word "goal"...
Without ANY doubt at all, the shorts would have contacted the regulators in Canada and tried to make Sphere's life difficult: Prohibit the use of the word goal or use proper guidance with all the proper documentation required...
If you put together...the past logical steps, and past behaviour of the shorts, the above is a very , very likely scenario of what has most likely happened.
Could very likely be. Snapcloud having been launched on Azure and GW launching on Azure soon, that's the big major player we got in bed with since February who you wouldn't want to piss of...
I am glad Patrick said it, and also got the answer they didn't withdraw the guidance because they wanted to or felt they need to. At least we seem to have especially with deals and progressing coming a chance..
To have them say, no we cant make the goal would have been way worse. Glass half full.
Oh we are all expecting the shorts to be busy on this and other boards tonight... don't worry, everybody knows who and what and why...
YES, its has been a while and now coming any day as it seems. Al technical hurdles overcome, now only marketing plan and pricing to be decided, and we are up...
Also, MSFT WILL co-market GW on Azure!! MSFT marketing a unique solution that can le integrated anywhere is BIG!
At least it sounds like revenue is building is up...with Novarad and others...
No we know why we fell so much... yeah shorts right

Thats exactly right, as Sphere is paying with undervalued stock as a currency of payment, the valuation of the target is adjusted accordingly. Actually gives us a nice insight into how undervalued in SP both management of S3D and Imation see S3D...
The shorts are using the lack of transparency.
Ever heard of "fear of the dark" ? Thats exactly the same with stocks, if we can't see, we fear. Somebody please switch the light on, so we can see where business is heading!
Either when the light goes on, all is fine, or there is a monster standing in front of us....very scary situation, but thats why we are where we are...
Also in the dark, as soon as a few will be shouting, without even knowing what is going on, human reaction is to also shout out of panic...it is a totally normal psychological reaction in the dark as we fear what made the others fear...
Eagerly looking forward to the cc. Somebody switch the lights on!!
Pretty please...
That's nice! That means that management was able to convince Imation that the stock with which we are paying is so undervalued, that it is fair that we are buying a business from them accordingly very cheaply.
It recognises the theoretical aspects of relative valuation and is very nice evidence that practically a company like Imation did not take the current share price at face value.
Without doubt. eom.
I don't think anybody here still thinks that it may be the best thing since sliced bread...BUT its also not worth two simple loafes of bread per share either...
If we remain with the baking analogy, we are an enticing large basket of very nice danish (like the products of S3D) and to be priced as such should in the medium to long term be much more appropriate...
"Well the first unveiling with microsoft has meant nothing sustainable for the stock price "
Are you already trying to prepare us for a second or third unveiling? Why? A writing on the wall? Did you hear something? Really?
Sounds exciting!
Very well put, true and hard to disagree on that. From what one seems to hear, management completely agrees and is not willing to sell out pre-maturely or too cheaply as well.
Let's recall less than two years back, when we were just able to see a video of a working prototype of GW demonstrated by John Morelli on a shaky video taken at Cantech...fast forward to today so much has happened that it is literally too long to list here...but we both know that
See, generally speaking, as oblivious as longs can be sometimes, as oblivious shorts can be too. The fact that most likely both of the extreme views are likely to some extend not completely right (to put it politely), motivates the opposing sides. Sphere 3D remains a very polarising company. That is until (more of) the veil is lifted in due course.
Not to be swimming against the stream here, but even as a loyal long, I completely agree with their letter, I mean, come on, MORE than $10 for ALL of our shares TODAY, before even any further confirmations? I would take that with a hand kiss (NOW, not in half, one or two years from now!), nice to see you and thank you!
Definitely, if somebody would make an offer for the company at more than two and a half times the share price, to not consider it as a Board, would anyway be negligent and especially since a shareholder even issued a formal request could open them up to litigation to not even evaluate an offer (again, they wrote in excess of $10 a share now!). Anyway, its ficticious right now, but between admittedly funny and entertaining $50 share price predictions, short conspiracies and Buffet buying the company, for something as serious as a cc we it is good to stay on course on the actual business.
Let's rather see how they see business evolving. My humble take anyway, it is a free world.
Thanks! Very nice mention of Sphere in there and no, it is not a blog on ANY but on Microsoft actually...nice to see MSFAt followers taking note...and in impressive words too...
Microsoft Is Back And Making Google, Apple, And Other Competitors Scared 0 comments
Jul 28, 2015 1:25 PM | about stocks: MSFT, GOOG, GOOGL, AAPL, IBM, AMZN, VMW
Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT), the 100-ton dinosaur in the computer industry, has been beaten up by Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) and Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) for a long time. For over a decade, it has not come up with any truly blockbuster product, like Google's Anroid OS or Apple's iPhone. Even in the cloud computing field, dabbed the most important thing in computing in 21st century, Microsoft has no clear advantage over Google, IBM (NYSE:IBM), Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN), or VMWare (NYSE:VMW).
Now, the situation may finally be changing. Over the past couple months, under the leadership of the newly hired CEO Satya Nadella Microsoft has announced a deal and a couple new products that shake the earth of computer industry and could potentially knockout its main competitors off-guard.
First, in March Microsoft announced a partnership with Sphere 3D (OTC:ANY), the hottest company in the cloud computing industry this year that just ringed Nasdaq stock market opening bell last month, to deliver Windows applications to cloud infrastructures without dependencies on hardware or software platforms. With Sphere 3D's proprietary "Microvisor" technology and glassware 2.0 system, Microsoft now has the ability to let users use all popular windows-based applications such as Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, SQL Server, Windows Explorer, etc. in any hardware running on any operating system. Moreover, this means that all Microsoft fans can now access Google's and Apple's applications in their Windows-based devices. With the help of Sphere 3D's technologies, Microsoft can potentially seize millions of users and huge market shares from Google and Apple camps. Sphere 3D stock's strong performance over the past month head of its second quarter financial reporting may imply that the partnership may be going very well and the two companies are enjoying strong sales for the collaborated products.
Secondly, Microsoft has made the full version of its popular OneNote product available in Android and iOS devices. OneNote is clearly the most powerful and user-friendly note-taking application today. Now with it running not only on Windows but also on Android and iOS, Microsoft has entrenched its leadership strongly in this business. As the population of mobile note-taking grows fast, so will the sales of OneNote. Google and Apple are probably too late for catching Microsoft because most people have gotten used to OneNote and are sharing their files with others. It will be too costly for most people to switch to a new product because of networking effect/benefit.
Last but not the least, after months of development, last week Microsoft announced Android version of its flagship product Office Suite. This obviously dashed a big blow to WPS Office, currently the most used office product in Android devices. Most users of WPS Office use the product only because they need to open and edit MS Office files on their Android phones. WPS Office does not have fully functions of MS Office, there is little reason for an Android phone user not to switch to MS Office.
By making the full version of its two most popular productivity products and all other products available in Android, iOS, and other devices (through Glassware), Microsoft is making the mobile computing world its own kingdom and reap humongous gains from it just as it did to the desktop computing world. Google and Apple need to react quickly to stop the bleeding, but they may not be able to effectively stop the return of computing king now that the king has fully awaken and determined to take back its kingdom.
Now may be the best time to invest in Microsoft

The only positive is that earnings cc is a week away, expectations here on past numbers very realistic, which leaves room for -hopefully- encouraging update, commitment to guidance by management...if the last call was anything to go buy we should be a lot smarter this time next week..
On the conference call after this earnings release, we will be half way into Q3, with relatively good visibility towards the end of the year.
IF they show us that we are finally moving from the product development to the successful commercialisation phase on GW and/or Overland and V3 are experiencing significant growth then hopefully but quite logically this might finally really be the last opportunity where the shorts can drag us down this much with their usual antics of fear mongering and share price hammering. Let's see.
But if the message -this far into the year!- stays positive on revenue ramp up, then this was finally it for these levels...
True and funny, but you shouldn't have warned him. Certain characters don't deserve to be warned.
Funny, case in point to my last post, perfectly illustrated by Gio within minutes. Thank you Gio for your predictability. eom
Thank you for your clarifications common. The stock price is one reason why the shorts continue to play the stock, but almost as important for them is their belief that -independent of share price- long shareholders have exorbitant expectations, dont understand what they own and would eventually get disappointed to hear that GW is not the cure for cancer.
As you are implying at this point of market capitalisation we can all multiply our investment WITHOUT it being the cure for cancer, in fact the fascinating beauty from here is even if ANY would merely be regarded by the market as a confirmed viable player with useful technology in the cloud sector, we would be trading at a MULTIPLE from here...from this level there is absolutely no need to attract shorts and wild swings in share price by expressing exorbitant expectations (like $50 a share, we have the cure for cancer etc) that the shorts would feel they can squash...the beauty is that at this disconnected low share price level there is simply no need to expose ourselves and our hopes publicly by focusing only on the best case scenario and ending up constantly defending the same in front of ourselves and in front of others...
How could that work if - as already confirmed- Windows 10 OS is free of annual charges for customers? Maybe rather Microsoft and software vendors generating licensing revenue for GW could be linked to applications actually virtualised...not saying one is better or worse...ANYway, surely they found a way...
Just to say completely agree with your focus. In fact, management had also said themselves on the last call that they expect growth to be non-linear (in fact PT had rightly mentioned that growth like this never is) and they expressed multiple times on the last conference call that they expect annual revenue growth to be back loaded. Same as with the last call (which was excellent and also rightly received a lot of praise) the focus will be on the progress and confidence towards the future (short, medium and long term). That's also why we are all here after all, it is only the shorts who -without much choice- cling to the past.
Not necessarily. They are clearly seeing the opportunity. Many might not have actually have read the letter positively I think as the shorts certainly tried its best today to paint the letter negative so out of cognitive bias being influenced by the share price action (as the shorts wanted), they, and the shorts obviously, tried to interpret a letter full of statements about the impressive opportunities of Sphere and its technology negatively??
Imagine: Exiting ALL our shares NOW, all of us, not in a year or so but RIGHT NOW, at a price IN EXCESS of $10, more than double the share price NOW how could that be negative??
They are not saying take any offer right now and run, they are saying, hey, if somebody strategic would offer you RIGHT NOW MORE THAN $10 a share (indirectly they could be trying to communicate a floor) then it would be prudent to look at such offer...
Anyway, interpretation aside, they dont hold that much, in fact much less than many private investors here, so I fail to see the excitement...
Great to see in all the diagrams how much V3 and even Overland's storage solutions are included in Novarad's solutions! From V3 appliances, V3 DCO, Snapserver and Snap Scale (Overland side)...no wonder they called it Novaglass...great to see, and really puts that 400 healthcare institutions announcement into a nice light/ perspective...
Sorry for the long silence on the board, was travelling in Europe (still am). Following up frequently though on the board etc. but was mostly quiet because the last cc and the presentation with MSFT (we all have to remember that any statements have to get officially approved by such corporations in Corporate America - esp. the large ones like MSFT) I became much more relaxed in terms of letting it unfold...
We are by now undeniably involved in one of the most widely followed strategic shifts a global tech company like MSFT is currently in the process of accomplishing...for a small cap that is quite something.
To your question SE Pinetree's other reported warrants of ANY are relatively small:
52,500 warrants expire Jun 3, 2016
The shorts really must be getting desperate for arguments to sustain their position...
Backward compatibility would have been a HUGE advantage if MFST would have had the ability at the time. The competition for the Xbox One with the Playstation at launch was incredibly fierce, and each side was fighting for every little tiny advantage they could come up with at the time. The blogs were full of customers trying to choose their which new console to buy and complaining about the lack of backward compatibility. I know and remember very well because I was/ am one of them!
Am looking forward to the new capabilities of my Xbox One.
Great summary! Thanks!
No need for contracts as nobody pays for software or hardware anyway, so contracts would be useless. Nor do IPs in that sector exist, the whole technology sector is based on rumors using jargon specifically invented to confuse everybody.
Ergo, nobody in the dubious technology sector ever made any money, nor ever will!
IRREFUTABLE FACT
Awesome! Thanks for sharing. eom
Much better, you can -and are- part of the story! eom
And so wear tear on this little stock until one side is proven completely wrong...
Obviously, I am much more comfortable being long as from a risk/reward perspective if longs are only partially correct then in this case even then it would justify still a much, much higher share price from here, while shorts would need to be completely correct for them to get it down just another $3.xx
May the least delusional one win...
You were spot on about today...good call!
Nice! Thanks, clearly shows that contrary to what the shorts liked us to believe in their infamous SA article published at that time, Cyrus is clearly not selling down its position.
I just wonder how often their statements have to be invalidated until the loose all credibility...they are certainly firmly on the right track...
Nice! Very clear and to the point. I guess our coming out party has started!
