It's not directly. Optomec is actually a spin off from Sandia Labs, about the same time Sigma labs left Los Alamos:
"3-D printing was developed at the same time at Sandia National Laboratories and Los Alamos National Laboratory, but not jointly. The two labs, however, jointly share in some of the initial patents on the technology, and each spun off a company. Los Alamos spun off Sigma Labs Inc., which focuses on software, and Sandia spun off Optomec, which builds hardware."
Just gives perspective on what another America Makes company project (Teamed with GE) is up to.

Optomec partners with GE Aviation, Lockheed Martin, Rolls-Royce and others on $4M effort.
Laser engineered net shaping (LENS)
Albuquerque-based additive manufacturing specialist Optomec is to head up a 23-partner team working on new ways of repairing aerospace components for the US Air Force.
Under a $4 million public-private contract awarded through “America Makes”, i.e. the US National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Institute, it will apply a laser technique initially developed at Sandia National Laboratories for metal repairs.
Later in the article:
They are aiming to develop a set of specifications and a knowledge base of best practices for additive manufacturing methods to repair metal aerospace components, for example defining the optimum powder feedstock characteristics, **improving process monitoring and control** and creating recommendations for part repairs and applications specifically for the US Air Force.

EOS expanding to larger manufacturing building.

Have to expand to increase production of machines for GE!
P.s also liked the VP of Materialise shout out. It's a small world in AM.
Thank you for posting this. I've been waiting to view it again.
I hope for news before but at least we have quarter 2 filing report to look forward to around Aug. 15th!
Eerily quiet today. Calm before the storm?
Question for the board: what is the best way to get email alerts regarding newswire press releases? Is there a way? Just would be nice to be notified when news hits with some of my stocks. Any suggestions would be great!
Haha, I'm right along with yah! The potential here (and with 3d printing) is limitless.

I asked how fast fuel nozzles are being produced, minutes, hours, etc? Mostly to get an idea of how many 3d printers they're going to need to meet the 40,000 predicted amount for one year.
Guess we'll know soon enough if he even answered it.
Love your post! I really get what your saying about Greg's reaction. Maybe we'll get the answer behind our strong run lately soon!
I think you are very right. I think there is something else going on behind the scenes. I think Greg's hesitation, as previously mentioned by other posters, was due to the privacy issue. i.e. "I think it has been mentioned in public domain that we are working with a company named B6 Sigma" I look forward to an awesome press release from Sigma labs soon. Put all our doubts to rest and we see a bigger picture of what is truly happening with Printrite3d.
I'm sure I'm nearing limit for posts so have good day everyone and happy with our close today!
I think your exactly right. It seems familiar from Mark and Vivek's talk a few months ago. "What do we do with all this data now?"
I still see tons of potential in this company and Mr. morris brought up lots of good points about why this is so slow going, Intellectual property, approval of actual metal powders, inability of current supply of parts/machines to keep up etc.
I also feel that he couldn't say much anyways, even if they ARE really close. That's Sigma's job to announce.
He mentioned Sigma but also "other" companies and national lab and universities. Also, "still a ways to go" Sorry to be a rain cloud, but wanted to make sure I heard correctly.
Great question!!!
I was wondering if it was. I'm glued to the screen! C'mon printrite!
I tried but just plays music? Do I need to stay on the phone the whole time?
I'm in as well. My hope is the presentation will have plenty of IPQA gold that we won't need to flood the Q&A with questions.
Kids are napping, let's get this show on the road!
3pm eastern time, so west coast like me is 12pm
All this volume, this webinar must contain something good! Maybe a whole slide regarding IPQA and printrite3d? I wonder if this presentation was shown at Farnborough at the GE display?!
Love this new GE commercial!

Thank you for the info, good to know!
Just got confirmation email. Went through at .148. I hate that they can alter the ask price. :-/
No idea! It was just a little order to help break through the .15 wall.
My order at .151 went through... Let's do this!
3pm Eastern for Greg Morris webinar regarding additive manufacturing!

Tune in today if you can at 3pm Eastern for Greg Morris webinar regarding additive manufacturing!

I sure hope we do see one! I wonder who all will be watching? Big investors? Jim Cramer and the likes? Or GE business partners? Maybe some news channels?
Anyone else thinking about Why they feel the need to do this NOW unless they have all systems go and are ready reveal?
I.e. You think you know 3d printing? THIS is 3d printing!
I know it was previously posted, but felt like should be posted again. Tune in tomorrow if you can at 3pm Eastern for Greg Morris webinar regarding additive manufacturing!

That's my average so am wanting to see green again!
Nice finish today!
Glta!
Absolutely. We are primed to explode!
Let's close above .14!

"Equipment for the new facility has already been ordered. "
Hopefully we can expect an announcement of which 3D printers they ordered...
Sounds good to me! Hopefully we form a new base with this slow increase. Doesn't seem too volatile to collapse easily...
My money is on PR tomorrow...
Do you think this is just MM's games or true buying related to impending news?!
I hope it's the latter!
Hooray! Have a good weekend everyone, see ya next week with more green and the news we've been waiting for to explain the uptrend!
holy cow! Happy Friday!
I was curious as well how you found this little hidden "gem" welcome to the Sigma-maniacs club!
A Sigma PR that same day would be well timed!!
