lol but of course. LA is just to good to give so many chances to. If you have them down you have to go for the throat.
That was the most disgusting display of a baseball game I have even seen yesterday.
That boy has some chip on his shoulder.
The washed up Manny Ramirez is just scolding the ball. His replaclemt isn't doing bad either. Manny is just putting on a clinic for the Dodgers.
Will the A-Rod episode have to be updated at some future date for his accomplishments in bringing a World Championship to the Yankees?
I would really like to hope so..lol
Time for Derek Jeter, A-Rod to pitch in
Even during those times in recent seasons when the Yankees made you think their run of playoff seasons was surely finished, they were never in this kind of trouble with the calendar. Even last season they were clicking by early August, on course to make fools of anyone who had predicted doom for them.
So this is different. They have lost Joba Chamberlain to the disabled list late in the season at a time when they already need starting pitching. And they can't be sure they'll see him on the mound again this season.
The diagnosis of rotator cuff tendinitis was relatively good news for the Yankees, considering they were concerned enough to send him to see Dr. James Andrews, but it could mean just about anything in terms of recovery.
As protective as the Yankees have been of Joba, you know they are not going to take any chances with him, so you figure three weeks is the earliest he'll make a start again. And if there is any lingering discomfort, the Yankees probably won't hesitate to shut him down for the season.
It's a huge loss, perhaps even with psychological ramifications for a ballclub that was beginning to see Chamberlain as its ace, especially after he outdueled Josh Beckett in that 1-0 gem in Boston two weeks ago.
So now the Yankees find themselves back where they started this season, counting on Phil Hughes and Ian Kennedy to live up to the hype that seemed to overwhelm them in April.
But let's not kid ourselves. Hughes and Kennedy have not proven they are capable of dominating in the manner of Chamberlain, so unless Sidney Ponson proves to be the waiver-wire pickup of the season - he pitched a strong game in Wednesday night's 5-3 win over the Rangers - the Yankees are surely going to have to slug their way to October.
More to the point, the burden of winning now falls heavily on their two biggest stars, Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez.
Neither one has done enough for this team to be considered a serious contender. Jeter's habit of hitting into double plays - 18 so far - at crucial moments becomes more maddening by the moment for Yankee fans accustomed to seeing the captain deliver in the clutch.
But maybe Jeter responded to the urgency of the situation last night, twice delivering runs with hits that lifted his average with runners in scoring position to .306. He is still hitting only .281 with a .346 on-base percentage, both of which would be the worst such averages of his career.
As for A-Rod, he's putting up nice numbers overall, but his failures with runners in scoring position are killing the Yankees lately. It's an old story with A-Rod, one you thought he'd put to rest last season with his MVP season that was as clutch as it was spectacular, but suddenly he can't get out of his own way again when it counts most.
A woman and a dog named,,lol Booger.
This article is being made relavant to the baseball board why? Because someday somehow somebody is going to want to clone their kids or grand kids and will pay big money for the chance to be a super star but also have their kids be super stars.
Booger the Pit Bull Is Back! All Five of Him...

SEOUL (Reuters) - The loss of Booger the pit bull terrier was almost more than Bernann McKinney could bear.
Now she is happy, minus $50,000 and her house, and owner of five cloned Booger puppies.
"It is a miracle for me because I was able to smile again, laugh again and just feel alive again," McKinney told a news conference in the South Korea capital to show off the week-old black puppies -- all of whose names include the word Booger.
They are the work of the biotech firm RNL Bio, affiliated with the South Korean lab which produced the world's first cloned dog and is staffed with former associates of disgraced scientist Hwang Woo-suk.
She sold her house in the United States to raise the $50,000 for RNL scientists to turn skin cells taken from Booger before he died two years ago into embryos carried by two surrogate dogs for two months until giving birth to the puppies last week
"I had to make sacrifices and I dream of the day, some day when everyone can afford to clone their pet because losing a pet is a terrible, terrible loss to anyone."
After rescuing him from a shelter 12 years ago, Booger had become an indispensable part of her life, said the 57-year-old Californian.
The lab said it hoped to make its technology more commercial along with its program to clone sniffer dogs for the Korean customs service.
As of today, we are at the stage of receiving orders from anywhere in the world," RNL CEO Ra Jeongchan said.
RNL has said it expected to clone about 100 dogs next year and for the price to drop as technology improves.
Hwang has been on trial for more than two years on charges of breaking the law on research ethics and for misusing state funds and private donations.
RNL's research staff is made up of scientists who stayed behind when Hwang left the prestigious Seoul National University after his research results were found to be fraudulent.
Dogs are considered one of the more difficult mammals to clone because their reproductive cycle includes difficult-to-predict ovulations.
40 mil to sit on his keaster. Kinda like he hit the lotto. Getting all that money and never have to work again.
Here it is just after 2:00 and no word yet. I am sure he entered the Carl Pavano memorial MRI machine early this morning and still no word. Thats making me a bit on the edgy side
Joba Chamberlain assumes he will enter the Carl Pavano Memorial MRI tube today at New York Presbyterian Hospital.
Has there been a more frightening sentence in the Yankees Universe this season?
On a night when the game-time temperature was in triple digits, the spines of Yankees fans everywhere went cold at the sight of Chamberlain walking off the mound with trainer Steve Donohue in the fifth inning last night at Rangers Ballpark.
Initially, the club announced Chamberlain's right shoulder was stiff. After the game, however, manager Joe Girardi and Chamberlain - the cornerstone of the Yankees' pitching future - both said it was lower, more near the deltoid muscle in the front of the upper arm.
"[I'll be going for an] MRI, I assume," Chamberlain said after Marlon Byrd's game-winning, two-out, bottom of the ninth grand slam off Damaso Marte carried the Rangers to a 9-5 win in front of 33,813. "They did some (resistance) tests and nothing is weak."
After giving up a three-run homer to Michael Young in the fifth, Chamberlain fanned Josh Hamilton and was working to Byrd when he felt something "grab" in the arm. When he started shaking his arm, Girardi and Donohue went to the mound.
According to Girardi, Chamberlain will miss Saturday's start against the Angels in Anaheim, Calif. With Dan Giese replacing Darrell Rasner for Friday night's start and Rasner suffering from a blood blister on the right index finger, the Yankees will need to get creative to find Chamberlain's replacement. That could mean promoting Alfredo Aceves or Ian Kennedy from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
"It's a little stiff, that's why I am going back and get it straightened out," said Chamberlain, who thanks to five straight quality starts and a filthy arsenal was on the cusp of being ordained as the Yankees' No. 1 starter.
Now, he will have tests today after giving up five runs and eight hits (two homers) in 42/3 innings.
"Hopefully I will miss one (start) if that's the case," Chamberlain said.
With a healthy Chamberlain, the Yankees aren't a lock to make it to October. Without him, baseball's biggest month, one the Yankees are built for, likely will be dark in The Bronx.
"Life is too short to worry, the strength is good," said Chamberlain, who spit the hook on a loss when Xavier Nady's eighth-inning homer tied the score, 5-5. "You hope everything is okay." "
Report: Ortiz feels 'click' in wrist against Royals
Boston Red Sox designated hitter David Ortiz said he felt a "click" in his troublesome left wrist in an at-bat in Monday night's loss at Kansas City, the Boston Herald reported.
In the ninth inning, with two men on base and the Royals leading 4-2, Ortiz grounded out against Kansas City closer Joakim Soria. He said afterward that he felt a click in his left wrist early in the at-bat, the Herald reported.
"My last at-bat, it kind of pulled back a little bit," Ortiz said of his wrist, according to the Herald. "You feel that click and you get a little concerned about it."
He said he did not know if the situation would affect whether he would play Tuesday night, according to the report.
"The main thing is to make sure my hand feels fine," Ortiz said, the newspaper reported. "I don't want to be thinking about my hand and my timing -- it's too much."
Ortiz, who missed the better part of two months with a torn tendon sheath in his left wrist, missed nearly two months resting and rehabilitating the injury. Team medical personnel told him he might feel movement in his wrist from time to time, according to the report.
I am hoping it is just a pulled muscle. My worry is after he gave up that 1st home run the next batter he was was throwing lightening and that one topped out at 97 mph. I think he started over throwing instead of pitching his game and I am worried he tore something. He went from pitcher to that 1 inning guy from the pen and throwing high heat. After having X amount of pitches thrown already that is really bad for his arm.
Manny is washed up..You didn't get the memo? rofl He is going to carry that team to the playoffs on his back. This trade will make Joe Torre look good.
lol I would like to say that is very creative, but I am afraid it is all true..lol
lol A-Rod as we all know is far from mr clutch. However he does help contribute. Nady is a great addition for the yankees as he can come up with clutch hits. The 2 players I wanted from the Pirates were Bay and Nady.
Now, if we can get A-Rod to stop singing pappa don't preach by madonna we will be in good shape..lol
I think the author has made a good case for why didn't Selig get involved?
Best one I could give is because Bud is a slug.
Nady making it looks easy. I think he has all the jitters out now..lol
dew, he was still ravaging us though, he can hit when he wants to hit. Time has still been on Manny's side. It isn't just yankee fans that are saying it. It is ESPN, Fox sports. S.I. You name it they have all said it. Is Bay a very good addition? Absolutly, but he is not Manny and Manny has killed the yankees. If every single sports outlet says it and many yankees fans say it and many red sox fans say it, maybe the few who would like to live in a fairy tale and think it is a fairy tale ending. Now THATS DUMB but I guess your right, it is human nature.
June 1st I told you I think they need to work on their Pen and I still think they do. More so now than I did then. Their 1st place stint didn't last long and they may have 1 more in them but that wont last either as long as their pen keeps losing them games.
Softparade, are you kidding me here, Half the yankee fans did cartwheels now that Manny is gone..lol Bay is going to do good for Boston. But Manny killed us and you can't believe how happy many yankee fans are and the team that Manny is gone. I think it is funny how the people that are boston fans who supported him so long and defended him for so long completly bailed on him as soon as he left like he was just some average hitter..lol
I like it when they run those where are they now type articles of some of our favorite players. How many of us have wondered the same thing about our favorite players and end up surprised at what they are doing now.
Then and now
Jim Abbott
Then: Major League Baseball pitcher Jim Abbott, who was born without a right hand, won 87 games during his 10-year career when he played for four teams: the California Angels, New York Yankees, Chicago White Sox and Milwaukee Brewers. One of the highlights of his career came in 1993 with the Yankees, when he pitched a no-hitter against the Cleveland Indians. Abbott could also field the ball and hit it, belting a triple in spring training in 1999.
Now: Abbott, who retired from baseball in 1999, throws out the first pitch before Game 2 of the ALDS in 2004. He currently works as a motivational speaker and lives in Michigan, where he grew up, with his wife and two children.
Fernando Valenzuela
Then: Fernando Valenzuela was synonymous with the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 1980s, when the left-handed pitcher started a craze known as "Fernandomania." He became the only player in Major League history to win the Rookie of The Year award and the Cy Young Award in the same season, in 1981. The six-time All-Star, who was one of the best pitchers in baseball in the 80s, was released by the Dodgers in 1991 but floated in and out of the majors for the next seven seasons, playing for five teams.
Now: Valenzuela, who has played on and off in his native Mexico since retiring from Major League Baseball in 1997, works as the color commentator on the Dodgers' Spanish radio broadcasts. He also has served as the pitching coach of the Mexican National Team, and is seen above throwing out the first pitch of an exhibition game in 2006 in Tucson, Ariz
Mark Fidrych
Then: Mark "The Bird" Fidrych won the AL Rookie of the Year and was 2nd in Cy Young voting after going 19-9 in 1976 with 24 complete games. Fidrych was known for talking to the baseball and his antics on the mound, which made him wildly popular.
Now: Fidrych's baseball career ended almost as soon as it began, as he suffered several injuries in 1977, including recurring shoulder problems, which led to the end of his career in 1980. While he's shown here playing at the Legends/Celebrity Game at Comerica Park in Detroit in 2005, Fidrych lives in the town where he grew up -- Northborough, Mass. -- and is a commercial trucker.
George Brett
Then: George Brett, who led Kansas City to six American League Championships and two World Series during his 20-year major league career with the Royals, is widely regarded as one of the most complete baseball players due to his hitting, defensive ability and unselfish attitude. The Hall of Famer's 3,154 career hits are the most by a third baseman in major league history. But one of the most memorable moments in Brett's career is "The Pine Tar Incident." After Brett hit a two-run homer against the Yankees in 1983, New York manager Billy Martin complained Brett's bat had too much pine tar on it, violating an obscure rule. The umpire misinterpreted the rule, called Brett out and Brett charged out of the dugout, resulting in his immediate ejection. In the above photo, Brett, right, is being restrained during the incident.
Now: Brett, shown here in 2007 at the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, N.Y., retired in 1992 and has stayed involved with the Royals, serving as vice president and in various coaching positions. Brett helped head an investment group that unsuccessfully tried to buy the Kansas City Royals in 1998. He also runs a baseball equipment company, has lent his name to a restaurant and is the principal owner of a minor league baseball team -- the Tri-City, Wash., Dust Devils -- and is part-owner of the Spokane, Wash., Chiefs, a junior ice hockey team. He lives outside of Kansas City with his wife and three children.
I saw a article the other day they were trying to get Bernie there and he feels pretty jilted which I don't blame him. Bernie could have still played part time but they had to cut him because Torre would have overdone it and used him to much and worn him down. They couldn't come right out and say that since Torre was still the manager so they had to blame Bernie.
Because we are not going to pump up the new guy for what he is not. He is not Manny, as much as people want to pump up the new guy, he still is not Manny. Bay is a great addition and will do very well for Boston. But Manny has been unhappy this year and even last year he did very well and Manny as a happy player is much different than Manny as a unhappy player.
If people want to raw raw the new guy thats fine. He will do good for Boston. But I would put money that before manny pulled this latest act and boston fans were asked if they wanted Bay or Manny they would say Manny hands down.
Well the Mets speration is going the wrong way. I say they don't even make the playoffs. I don't even know if Boston is going to make the playoffs. Teams are not going to be as afraid with Bay in the lineup even though he is a very good addition. This will make them pitch Papi differently. I think Tampa will make the playoffs for the 1st time and it will be either Yankees or Tampa win the division. I would like to see the yankees play more consistant before I can feel they can win the division.
Now that the Manny drama is over and Manny is in LA he will be Manny again and will make that team go on a run and very well could win the very weak N.L. West.
I agree with you about Chicago in both the A.L. and N.L. Brewers in the Wild Card and Anaheim is the best team in baseball with I think also they have the best manager in baseball.
I think he has a good chance.
1st place Phils. I like their chances to win their division as I think the Mets schedule does not favor the mets.
Not many teams are. I don't see anyone in the N.L. that could even clean the Angels shoes let alone beat them. But we will play the season anyway if they let us..
I agree, I was surprised Pudge was catching him tonight. I would have liked to have seen him (Pudge)DH tonight and let Molina catch him. Why mess with a good thing.
Now figure how many games he has helped win for Boston. Funny how so many turned against him act like he was some sort of bum at the plate. Believe me, Yankees pitcher would never admit it publicly, but who would they rather face? Bay or Manny?
The best move today for the yankees was the one they had nothing to do with. Manny going west.
Now Cashman on the other hand, he still has more rings than Theo so I wouldn't be to hard on Cash. Yea, I know, with all the money they have yada yada yada yada. It takes more than Money to make a world series winner.
I agree he is 6 years younger. But Manny is still the most feared hitter in the game. He makes it look like he is playing stick ball. But you will have Bay for a long time to come. You wont have to put up with the team distraction of Manny being Manny. Bay is a very good ball player who has his head on straight. He will produce in Boston. But if I am the Yankees I would much rather go against Bay than I am willing to pitch to Manny. Like I said earlier. I as a Yankee fan am glad to see Manny go..lol
Ivan Rodriguez asked Tigers to be traded to Yankees
When Brian Cashman arrived at Yankee Stadium Wednesday in a not-so-good mood over the way the last-place Baltimore Orioles had cuffed around his Yankee team the previous two nights, he did not envision in his wildest imagination bagging a potential Hall-of-Fame catcher before the seventh-inning stretch.
But then, how could he know what Pudge Rodriguez was up to in Cleveland? How could he know the Detroit Tigers' perennial All-Star and Gold Glove catcher had become disconcerted over the decision of his manager, Jim Leyland, to give an increased percentage of the catching role to Brandon Inge? It seems nobody had an inkling of this until Rodriguez, who is a free agent after the season, asked for a meeting with Tigers GM Dave Dombrowski at the team hotel in Cleveland, at which he was the one who suggested a trade to the Yankees.
"They need a catcher and I want to catch every day," Rodriguez reportedly told Dombrowski. "Why don't you see if you can work something out?"
It turns out that the Tigers' most pressing need as they make a belated postseason run in the AL Central has been another power arm in the bullpen - a commodity of which the Yankees had surplus. As soon as his conversation with Rodriguez concluded, Dombrowski phoned Cashman and asked if he would be willing to trade Kyle Farnsworth, who's also a free agent after the season, for his 36-year-old catcher. It was essentially a deal of mutual "rentals" to hopefully help get both teams "to the finish line," as Cashman put it. Before he agreed to it, however, he wanted to check with his manager, Joe Girardi, himself an old catcher.
"He's the complete package," Girardi said of Rodriguez, who is hitting .295 and still maintains one of the stronger throwing arms in the game.
From Cashman's standpoint, the Yankees had already been asking a lot of Jose Molina, a career backup, and there was also private concern that he might eventually break down. With Rodriguez coming in, those fears have been alleviated, but it remains to be seen how the Yankee pitchers, all of whom apparently love working with Molina, will interact with Rodriguez. Despite Rodriguez's Hall-of-Fame credentials, his reputation is that he catches for himself.
"We are robbing Peter to pay Paul," said Cashman, "and I just hope this works out. It was one of the toughest decisions I've ever had to make, trading a good guy like Farnsworth who did everything we asked of him in what was at times a tough environment for him."
According to Cashman, the deal was essentially agreed upon midway through Wednesday's game and he called Girardi in the sixth inning and told him not to use Farnsworth. Then Edwar Ramirez came on in relief of Joba Chamberlain and proceeded to immediately get thrown out of the game for throwing a haymaker pitch over Kevin Millar's head. Naturally, Girardi feigned outrage over the ejection, and Ramirez insisted the pitch simply got away from him and had absolutely nothing to do with the high hard one that hit Alex Rodriguez and got the Birds' Daniel Cabrera tossed the night before.
It would be a great deal and you would get a great player. But Manny has had great production consistantly for many years. Many players just can't be Manny. Bay is close to Manny's production this year. Manny is also screwing off for a month now. Bay is not Manny but you would get a great solid player relativly alot cheaper to.
I think for the 1st time since he has been here he was enjoying his time. As we all know Torre was disasterous when it came time to the pen and he abused one guy all the time while others sat around.
Thats one thing you have heard. Big big loud silence from the people on his team. They were asked about it and none wanted to say bad things but they didn't say very good things either.
Did they ever, they joked and everyone joked, thats just Manny being Manny. Even made t-shirts out of it and everyone thought it was funny and cute. Manny is blaming the red sox orgination for this latest problem. But notice something, you don't see the other players having this problem. It is just Manny. You don't see Lowell or Papi. It is just Manny being Manny.
I think Bay is a solid player. He would have been the other I wanted from the Pirates if we didn't get Nady. But Manny is still the best hitter in the game and can preform when he wants to. As much of a jerk Manny is, he is just as much as a great hitter. Believe me, as a Yankee fan, I am extremly happy to see Manny go. He just kills Yankee pitching.
I think the Manny deal has been faxed to the comish office for approval from some of the things I have been reading. I guess we will find out by tomorrow
Marlins get Manny Ramirez, one prospect (BOS), and cash (likely Ramirez’s remaining salary)
Pirates get Jeremy Hermida and three prospects (two FLO, one BOS)
Red Sox get Jason Bay and John Grabow
I think last night was the topper. They were willing to keep him the rest of the year but when he didn't run out that hit Managment had to be jumping out of their skin. I have said for years he has been a embarrasment to baseball and to the red sox team. Manny being Manny isn't so cute anymore and is really hurting the team.
rofl em.
