greeneyedhawk--EP...excellent posts...
I too am close to calling a top...fortunatly, shorting is one of my Favorite Things...
Good strategy with Gold EP...
I still have my darling RBAK...take a look at it today!
It doesn't seem to care what the overall market does...
I'm still calling for it to top out near 11.00
It still never ceases to AMAZE !!!
Good Luck To ALL ;^)
The September Employment Numbers just came out...
And it blew all estimates away to the high side by over 20K for September!
They also raised the previous two months numbers signifigantly!
The dow futures were up 11.00, and the Naz futures were up around 3.00 just before the numbers came out...
Ten minutes after the report, the futures are: DOWN!!!...???
Dow--15.00
Naz--2.5
Say WHAT!!! I guess just like reporting season, the AnalYsts expected 180K and they didn't like not getting what they wanted...This stock market has a logic of it's own, that IMO has nothing to do with Logic at all...
YHOO colsolidated in a downtrend yesterday since noon into the close...that usually calls for weakness, and I will be shorting it if it breaks below 34.00 if the futures deteriorate towards the open....the only danger is: YHOO has had strong support at 34.00 many, many times in the past, so this will be a tricky trade....I may decline to participate knowing this...It's not doing much in the pre-market session today...
Good Luck To ALL ;^)
Today's chart just got...
Blown away in the last few minutes of trading and looks like it could head south from here...
It actually got blown two hours before the close when instead of going up and forming a "W", it ran flat...Now, it shows a sizeable double top that could yield down .17 or so if it goes below 2.55 and the support level around 2.48 is also taken out...
Blame it on the Terrible Volume we have seen today, at only half the ten day average volume...and obviously more sellers than buyers...
Could it be that the litigants are "Practicing" for the 20 day period spoken of a lot in the last few days??? This may be the case, because if you were watching Level 2 closely at the end of the day, there was some weird activity going on...Look at it now...the bid is 2.55--the ask is 2.53--and the next ask below it is 2.62 which is about where it was trading before this manipulation began, and if it had closed there, would have made the chart look like it at least had the possibility of forming a bullish chart pattern...
The more I think about it, the more this scenario seems likely, and I'm sure we will see a lot more of it in the near future...If this is the case, we all need to come up with a plan to make the chart improve in the last few minutes of each trading session...I'd be willing buy a small lot of shares high in the last 5 minutes of trading once in a while, or would that be pointless???
What I'm hoping will happen tomorrow, is most folks know we went the last two Monday's without a PR, and will want to be "all in" Friday before the close just in case they put one out Monday morning before the bell...though this topic is getting a bit old, I must admit...
But that's the story with this story stock, and has been for quite some time now...news, it goes up...and no news, it goes down...shame on the mess...
I look forward to the days when it stops acting like this...
Good Luck To ALL,
goldrusher! Hi! Long time no see...
I haven't noticed you posting much on the RB board lately...
We MISS YOU! over there man, really...Your sense of humor is missed greatly, though others of us are trying to take on part of the load...
Anyway, to finally get around to answering this question of yours from early this morning (sorry, I've been real busy today)...I don't know if you've heard yet, but President Bush has started a new U.S. Government Office that will enforce patent protection for our Companies that deal with foriegn countries, and specifically named China as the biggest offender, and the country that will get the most attention of this Patent Watchdog Office...
I don't know the name of the Office, but it was discussed on the RB board a week or two ago in depth...
I'll bet if you asked beigledog about it, he could be a lot more specific...as you know, my thing is charts, and b.dog should be a reporter for the Wall Street Journal, IMO...
Anyway, it's real good to hear from you again...don't be such a stranger...
Good Luck To ALL ;^)
YHOO is about to do "something" here...
The Bollinger Bands are almost touching...
Which way is it going to go...I don't know...But I'll be ready for it whichever way it is...
Good Luck To ALL ;^)
gjd--thank you for your kind words...
I understand how hard it would be to daytrade if you are using a work computer...I have a system of trading that works not only for daytrading, but also for swingtrading, and taking long term positions...All you have to do is use the proper time frame on the chart to adjust it to your style of trading...
As far as technical indicators go, Volume Studies are very important, Bollinger Bands are second, Simple Moving Averages are a close third, Stochastics are tied for third, MACD next, and I use the RSI and the ADX only to help confirm all of the above...
So a good start for you would be to learn Volume, Bollie Bands, Moving Averages, and Stochastics to begin with...this combination will give you a feel for the movements of a stocks pps...then you can add one at a time as you feel comfortable...
My personal settings for these indicators are unique, and have taken years of playing with them to get the results I desire...though you can use the standard settings to good advantage also...
If you need any help understanding them, I'm happy to help you get the basics down...just post here and ask specific questions, and I will get back to you as soon as I can...
If you have Skype FREE internet telephone, you can call me after the market closes...my username there is: daytradeyahoo
Good Luck To YOU, and to ALL ;^)
I covered the pre-market short...
one minute after the open at 34.29
Yipee!!! That's $150.00 gross profit in the pre-market...
Good luck to ALL ;^)
I'm shorting YHOO in the pre-market this a.m....
With 1000 shares at 34.44 at 8:13:37 I'm looking for a quick $100.00 profit on this one...hopefully more...
And I will possibly buy to cover before the opening bell...I'll only know that a few minutes before the bell..
The futures are way down today, and getting worse by the minute...and YHOO has broken below the level of support it had in the last hour of trading yesterday...
As per the PR it came out with today...It appears to be a GOOD ONE! That's why I love this Company...and I am a loyal subscriber to many of their services...My internet connection is: SBC Yahoo! DSL and I hardly ever have any problems with it...IMO, Yahoo! is the best internet portal I know of...
Good Luck To aALL ;^)

Wind Power News From China...
CTC should get a move on, and start producing Wind Turbine Poles...From this article from State Power of China, the biggest Wind Farm in Asia could probably use them...
http://www.sp-china.com/news/200508030002.htm
In the search for new energy, China rides the wind...
From the distance, the turbines look almost forbidding, looming very large on the horizon like some clawed space invaders. But one must get up close, very close, to hear the slightest hum as their blades spin, harvesting power from the wind.
Apart from the random bleating from a huge herd of sheep, the loudest noise in this open, rolling grassland of the Chinese province of Inner Mongolia is the buzz from the transformers that dot the plain, collecting electricity from this small army of 96 metallic monsters.
Blessed with vast, empty countryside and a seemingly permanent stiff breeze blowing across the steppes, this northern province has seen investors pour money into the wind farm. It is already huge, and may soon be getting much larger.
"Today we're producing 68 megawatts, but by 2008, we'll generate at least 400 megawatts," boasted Li Yilun, the director of the Huitengxile power plant. "By then, we will be the biggest wind farm in all of Asia."
China's skyrocketing energy needs have grabbed the world's attention through the bold, unsuccessful bid for the American oil firm Unocal. China has also made big investments in petroleum production in countries as far-flung as Sudan and Venezuela. But at home, where petroleum is growing scarce and overdependence on coal chokes the air of major cities and killed 6,009 miners last year the Chinese government is moving just as aggressively to develop alternative energy supplies.
By 2020, starting from a minuscule base that it has established only recently, China expects to supply 10 percent of its needs from so-called renewable energy sources, including wind, solar energy and small hydroelectric dams.
So far, wind power is making the most impressive strides, so much so that even if Li's boast of soon having the largest wind farm in Asia comes true, he will have plenty of competition within China alone.
Already, large wind farms are sprouting up in much more heavily populated provinces, like Guangdong, Fujian and Hebei, and with Chinese and foreign turbine manufacturers competing furiously for this fast-expanding market, the cost per kilowatt is becoming increasingly competitive with China's abundant coal. Many coastal provinces, meanwhile, are developing plans to build wind farms just offshore, where winds are strong and land use is not an issue. Projects like these are expected to deploy huge turbines with blades 80 meters, or 87 yards, long. Each turbine will be capable of generating 1.2 megawatts of electricity, enough to power hundreds of homes, if not more.
"We have huge goals for wind power development," said Wang Zhongying, director of China's Center for Renewable Energy Development. "By 2010, we plan to reach 4,000 megawatts, and by 2020 we expect to reach 20,000 megawatts, or 20 gigawatts." If anything, Wang said, these targets are too conservative, and may be easily surpassed.
The biggest limitations, he said, were not in China's wind-power potential, or in its generating technology, but rather in the country's antiquated power grid, which cannot automatically reroute power from one region to another as demand and supply rise and fall. That makes it difficult to take full advantage of wind power, whose output vacillates according to the weather.
China's wind-power program has roots in a Chinese delegation's visit to the United States 18 years ago. The delegation witnessed wind turbines at work in Utah, then came back determined to adopt the technology at home.
The group bought some wind turbines and tested them at Urumqi, the capital of the western province of Xinjiang.
"The production data was very, very good," said Wu Gang, a member of the delegation who was fresh out of engineering school at the time. What followed is a story that encapsulates some of the main ingredients of China's economic miracle, including the disciplined marshaling of intellectual and financial resources by a state determined to solve a problem and to establish a sector it deemed strategic.
After his return from the United States, Wu was put in charge of the state-financed wind farm in Xinjiang, where he was able to master all the technical aspects of the business. Later, the government provided the seed money for the firm he directs, Goldwind Science and Technology. It is China's largest producer of wind turbines, and remains 55 percent state-owned.
China has backed wind power and other alternative sources in other ways. It has provided tax incentives for developers, imposed standardized electricity rates that amount to a subsidy for power sources like wind that remain more expensive than coal, and has imposed equipment requirements that bolster local manufacturers.
In February, the Chinese government passed a nationwide renewable energy law that formalizes many of these incentives, and mandates clear targets for increased power generation from alternative energy sources. The outcome has been a real boom among suppliers of wind power equipment. "We're expecting the sector to grow 50 to 75 percent a year between now and 2020," said Jens Olsen, the chief representative of Vestas, a Danish turbine manufacturer that is the leading equipment supplier in China.
"The problem here now is the sector is growing so fast that the equipment producers can't keep up," Wu said. "Last year, more than 10 Chinese companies came into the market, but they will find that wind energy is not so easy. It involves so many different kinds of knowledge: aerodynamics, computer science, turbines, gearboxes."

Good Luck To All ;^)
YHOO is a runaway train today...
As you can see on the daily chart, it has broken out into clear blue skies, and into the area where the gap can be filled...This could happen rather quickly...On the shorter term charts, it needs to pullback a bit here, as it ran too far too fast today (again)...It has above average volume today for this hour of the session...To be sure it's going to run further, it must close above the close set on July 27th at 34.29 which is the neckline of the double-bottom (or: breakout point) shown on this chart...Too bad I was busy with other stocks again today to be playing this one...Shame on me...After all, this IS the "Daytrading YHOO" Board...I promise if today's close is good, I will be all over this one tomorrow, as it's gaps "usually" fill, and I want to be in on it...
Todays's BIG green candle signals there are more to come, maybe not quite as big--maybe BIGGER! It could go up another two dollars in the next few trading sessions...The RSI is not too high...Look for the DMI+ to cross up through the DMI-...The stochastics have broken out on a "W" and are not anywhere near being overbought...The MACD Histogram is about to go positive, and the Lines there are crossing up...And volume is Good today...All in all, very bullish in many ways...
Good Luck To ALL ;^)
Sorry guys but the recording I made...
Sounds really bad, it sounds like they are in a 55 gallon drum, so I won't post it...
What was posted in the previous post is exactly what I recorded...
Overall, I liked what was said about ACCC VERY MUCH!!! And the numbers for demand for transmission cable will increase a LOT in the future!
"Getting TRACTION" is GOOD!!!
Good Luck To ALL ;^)
test...
[Suppressed Sound Link]
They just spoke Highly of ACCC!!!
On the BGC CC...
I recorded it...and will process it and post it here ASAP...
Good Luck To ALL ;^)
I'm buying 5K CPTCQ at the open...and...
Getting ready to short YHOO soon thereafter if it breaks below 33.75 for a quick daytrade...
Good Luck To ALL ;^)
Don't forget to listen to General Cable's...
Conference Call at 10am this morning...I'm sure they will have some interesting things to say about CTC...I will try to record what ever they do say, and post it here for those that won't be able to listen to it live...It will also be available at the link below to listen to in full at a later time...
Here's a link to get to it:
http://biz.yahoo.com/cc/1/59051.html
Good Luck To ALL ;^)
So, what's YHOO-RBAK-CPTCQ going to do today?...
The futures are down right now...The Dow down -13.00 and the Nasdaq is down -2.00 but YHOO is up just a little bit in the pre-market session...I don't take the futures too seriously when they are down just a little bit, as any big company that reports earnings before the bell can change things dramatically...
I will be shorting YHOO if it falls below 33.75 any time today, and I will go long if it breaks above 34.00 and add to it if it takes out yesterday's intraday high of 34.20
The technical indicators on this chart at yesterday's close were neutral, so it pretty much depends on what the Nasdaq does today...Will YHOO outperform the Nasdaq again today?...That's hard to say, and only time will tell...
I'm also watching CPTCQ to push up through 2.84 early to buy it, also remember their partner General Cable (BGC) has their Conference Call at 10am this morning, are will certainly be saying Good things about CPTCQ, so listen to it, and watch for some kind of reaction on the chart soon after 10am...Here's a link to BGC's CC--http://biz.yahoo.com/cc/1/59051.html
And RBAK is: well...I can't say enough good things about this one!...It has a very bullish chart in every time frame, and this one just keeps continuing to AMAZE!...
P.S. As I finish typing this the Dow futures have slipped another five points, and the Nasdaq has slipped one point, and now YHOO is below yesterdays close by just a tiny bit...
Have a Great! Day fellow traders...and...
Good Luck To ALL ;^)
Wawh--re: MXIM and SBAC...
MXIM 6month/daily:
WOW! A HUGE gap up yesterday at the open...It broke out into clear blue skies ahead on this chart...And look at that Volume! Did this have something to do with Q2 earnings? I won't even venture a guess as to what it does next, though gaps like that usually have a way of filling, at least half way, if not all the way...
MXIM 10day/hourly:
It's good it set a new intraday high late in the session, or we'd be looking at a possible double-top...I wouldn't be surprised if it pulled back to around 44.00 soon, maybe even 43.50...
SBAC 6months/daily:
Another WOW! It doubled since early May! Why didn't I hear about this one sooner?...At the end there, it went straight up, so it had to go straight down...Without doing any DD on it, I'd say they ran it up in anticipation of earnings, and someone (Wall Street Anal-ysts) weren't happy with the numbers, or a case of "buy the rumor-sell the news"... Yesterdays candlestick looks like a bottoming candle, but only time will tell...Look at the Volume...Overall, a very nice chart as long as it doesn't go below the low 14.25 level...
SBAC 10day/hourly:
It went down real fast, so it went up real fast, with a 60% dead cat bounce off the bottom=Impressive!...The 5SMA looks like it wants to cross up over the 10SMA...The RSI is breaking out up, and so are the stochastics...The DMI+ just crosssed up through the DMI-...And there could be a Perfect MACD crossover about to happen...It got the biggest volume in ten days yesterday...Overall, too scary for my tastes in the short term...It has to hold above 14.50 on this chart to look good...Longer term-it should probably be OK...
Good Luck To ALL ;^)
Thank you! cws9...eom
YHOO--RBAK--CPTC--Rock On!...
YHOO:
I didn't trade YHOO today as I was busy with the two below...
I kind of wish I had...After four sessions of underperforming the Nasdaq, as is usual, today it outperformed by a LOT...The runup that lasted until noon was too steep, so a 50% retracement was expected...Look at the doji candlestick it formed at the top...Now the RSI is turning up at above the 50 line...I'm looking for the DMI+ and DMI-to diverge...The stochastics to rise..."IF" there is a MACD kiss...It all depends on what the Nasdaq does tommorrow...Both the Naz and the S&P 500 closed at four year highs AGAIN today...You would think they were getting toppy, but the rally continues...
RBAK:
I can't say enough good things about this one...It has a way of Continuing to AMAZE me!!!...It is famous for stairstepping up, which is one of the best bull chart patterns I know...Not too far-too fast...The two year weekly shows it having already broken out into clear blues skies, with NO resistance all the way up to 11.00 GO REDBACK!!!
CPTCQ:
Another very strong day again today, even without a PR...It exceeded my expectations after breaking above 2.55 at the open by nine cents (I figured it would top out around 2.75 and it went to 2.84 instead)...Then I expected a pullback to around 2.65 and it didn't...It closed at the high of the day at 2.84! I'm looking for a PR before the open tomorrow, and if not, will be listening to General Cable's Conference Call at 10am tomorrow, to see what GOOD things they say about CTC... If it breaks above 2.84 within the first hour of trading, I think it will take out 3.00 tomorrow...The day it takes out the old intraday high of 3.17 I will finish loading up the truck (The BIG Truck) and put the cruise control on autopilot, kick back, and enjoy the RIDE!
Good Luck To ALL ;^)

YHOO:

CPTCQ's Action Today Was STRONG!...
Today, it ran up past my expectations by nine cents in the second hour of trading...
I expected a pullback in the third hour today to around 2.65 or so, and it didn't!...It's showing incredible strength on below average daily volume...
It raced up early, ran flat for hours, and ended up closing at the high of the day...The volume the last hour of trading was good...I see continuing accumulation...
The stochastics are showing overbought, and the RSI is just above 71, but I think if it goes above 2.84 in the first hour tomorrow, another rally will come...
A PR before the open, or Good comments from BGC at their CC at 10am will rocket it up past 3.00 and Finally, that "may" become support once and for all...I can't imagine GC saying Anything BAD about CTC...I'll be listening to the CC and try to record anything GC says about us for all of those that can't listen to it live...and post it here...
Good Luck To ALL ;^)
YHOO is having a tremendous day today...
It underperformed the Nasdaq for the last four sessions, and as expected, today it has by far outperformed the Naz...It does this on a regular basis...Unfortunatly for me, I was busy daytrading CPTCQ and RBAK today until just before lunch, and did rather nicely...
RBAK--If you'll notice, it has set up a pattern here of running up hard first thing in the morning, then slowly slipping down, which is in fact a bull chart pattern called a bull flag...In the last five days, it has done that pattern seven times (they are also called "stairsteps" up which is one of the best bullish patterns I know, not too far--too fast...About this time of day, near the low on the chart is a good time to jump back in, as it should approach today's high near the close, and set itself up for another good pop up in the morning...
CPTCQ--Is doing pretty much the same thing, though only for the last two sessions or so...I bought 5K at the open at 2.56 when it took out 2.55 and broke out up into clear skies again...I estimated the run up to about 2.75 but it surprised me by going up another nine cents...I should have taken only half the profits there, in case it did continue up...I took my profits at 2.73 one hour after the open, so I shouldn't complain...It is setting up for another good open tomorrow, as it is consolidating in an uptrend, and I will load up again in the morning if it breaks above today's intraday high of 2.84 within the first hour of trading tomorrow...There is something going on here with this one...I feel an Awesome PR could come out later this week, or on Monday for sure, and that is a Definite Buy Signal in my book...We have a good core position, and I like to daytrade this one also, but is hard, as you have to use limit orders...I've been doing this a while, and know in order to get out quick on the ask, it Must still be going up...I don't like to try getting out on the bid while it's headed down...
Look for some charts to be posted later this evening...The Wawh has shown an interest in MXIM and SBAC, so I will get to those, along with YHOO, RBAK, and CPTCQ... #board-4166

Good Luck To ALL ;^)
beigledog--You're doing a Great Job!...
I have read all of your past posts with great interest, and look forward to anything else you come up with in the future...
Keep up the Good Work!!! And CTC is having Another Great Day! (even without any PR's this week...) Up .23 right now, and forming a Nice stairstep up...I expected a pullback to around 2.65 earlier, after it ran too far too fast right out of the gate this morning, but it didn't!...There is Amazing! strength here...
Good Luck To ALL ;^)
fashionman--the way I calculate possible yields...
On a chart pattern is: on the double bottom on the ten day/hourly chart for CPTCQ, the second low was set at 2.15 and the neckline(or point #2) of a "W" was at 2.45
The difference is .30 So I add .30 to 2.45 and came up with 2.75 (not 2.80) So it exceeded my expectations by .05 but I was exiting my daytrade as it approached 2.75 so it's easier to get out with limit orders at the ask...I bought at the open today when it broke above 2.55...
Good Luck To ALL ;^)
fashionman--Yes, CPTCQ...
Did exactly as I expected today...2.80 maybe a bit too far too fast, so I'll wait for a pullback to jump in again today...
I made a bundle on it this morning...
Good Luck To ALL ;^)
Wawh--Good 'ol RBAK is doing it AGAIN today...
Yipee!!!
Good Luck To ALL ;^)
I nailed that one right on the head...eom

There are more resources, and I'll post them later today to you, but right now I must get busy reading PR Newswire for news of my favorite stocks...
The Chart Technical Indicators I use most are Bollinger Bands, Moving Averages, Candlestick Charts, RSI, ADX, MACD, Stocahstics, and Average Volume...
If you have any questions, feel free to ask me...
Good Luck To YOU ;^)
YHOO is in BIG trouble here...
Closing just below Friday's close...It formed a huge double top on today's chart, that should send it down close to 33.00 tomorrow...If the futures are down in the morning, I'll be shorting it with A LOT in the pre-market session...If it breaks below 33.00, it usually stops around ten to fifteen cents below that, then runs back up above the even number to find support there...Overall, it's weakness is worse than usual, and I'm glad we are no longer Long on it...
I took a swing (long) position on LVS today at the intraday low...It's good it's consolodating here in an uptrend after running hard the last three days of last week...I'm amazed it could pull off a positive close today!...I still have hope for this one in the near future, but everyone's volume was pretty weak today...Be careful of LVS Wednesday, as it reports earnings at 11:30 Eastern...It had a very good PR come out today...Here it is: http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/050801/lam053.html?.v=21
I would expect it to run up some more before the CC, where they should come out with some pretty good numbers, but after that, it's anyone's guess as to what comes next...buy the rumor, sell the news (again?)...
P.S.--Wawh--I just took another look at RBAK's weekly, and the double bottom on that chart says it could go to 11.00 eventually...JMO-of course...
Good Luck To ALL ;^)
Are you still happy about RBAK Wawh?
What a good day for this one...busting out first thing in the morning to new highs...
I hope you didn't get scared out on the pullback to 8.15 ...I used that as another buying opportunity, as it happened real fast, and the stochastics hit bottom on the five minute chart...
Today's chart has formed a great looking inverse head and shoulders, and I would expect it to bust through to new highs first thing in the morning tomorrow...
My wife has a long position from a long time ago, and I daytrade the heck out of it, so we are very happy right now...I wish you the best of luck on this one...I'm looking for 9.00 before this week ends...
Good Luck To ALL ;^)
CPTCQ's action today...
Very interesting it went UP today without the "usual" Monday PR...Somebody "knows something" we don't...Tuesday's are another prime candidate for PR's so be looking at 'PR Newswire' at 8am sharp (eastern) Maybe the Energy Bill being passed last week has 'something' to do with it...
It broke out of resistance at 2.46 today...the double bottom it formed last week on the 10day/hourly chart says it could go up to 2.75 IMO...It has to get above 2.55 quick tomorrow morning, or there's a chance of a small double-top that could send it back to 2.35 ...There's very little resistance all the way up to 2.96 The volume today was Low...And the stochastics are toppy on the ten day/hourly chart, but the RSI is only at 55 so............???
Good Luck To ALL ;^)

Wawh--refer to the chart on post #20...
I figure RBAK should go up to at least 8.85 on the breakout of that double-bottom, but like I said, it needed way above average volume in the first hour this morning to keep moving up, which it didn't have...
8.85 is the minimum pps on the next leg up (that is, "if" it continues up), and RBAK has a way of continually exceeding all expectations during a run, so I would say 9.00-9.20 is not out of the question...
Today is still OK though, as consolodating here in an uptrend is what it does quite often before the next leg up...A close above Friday's close would be encouraging...It's great it set a new intraday high by .12 right after the open, that tells me it still wants to go up...it has outlined where it's headed next...time will tell...
Good Luck To ALL ;^)
YHOO is getting ready to DUMP...again...
It's at Friday's intraday low of 33.34, and if it breaks it, will go down at least .20 It could go down more...
It should find support around the 33.00 level, but if not, it usually will stop .20 below that...
Oh, well...I'm too busy with other stocks today to be shorting YHOO again today...
It just went under 33.34 We'll see what's up next soon...
Good Luck To ALL ;^)
