CFCpB is a double win with the div!
Its good to be back. I can do an occassional post in the next month or so and then maybe back to regular stuff.
Hey, If Newly can trade while on the road, then I can at least manage a comment once in awhile!
I'm enjoying the green on my screen while it lasts.
SRS - Tiring is ok if you are making money!
Speaking of making money, I followed you into CFCpB yesterday. A small amount but it put a smile on my face. I still hold a really small amount AFF which has done nothing as of late and a bit more of MWR, which has been ok.
Thanks for sharing all your wonderful ideas, Joe.
The NDX is up.
I couldn't resist. It was hanging right over the plate. LOL.
Hey Maine, that's how we feel when you bring up politics no matter how many times we say NO POLITICS!!! :)
Go for it Newly. Stay safe and warm!
OT No Duck sauce when I first moved to CA in the 80's Lee. Just last weekend I discovered that Lucky's in Saratoga (CA) had huge jars of Gold's (like I remember). Not that I need so much. The Chinese restaurants in San Jose leave much to be desired. PF Changs is an overpriced substitute but at least they have some flavor.
i've heard that when you come to a fork in the road you should take it. Hope this helps.
Looks like we all should have bought AMZN and DECK today! Wish I was in.
Based on the context, I took IT to mean intermediate term.
Yeah, well I wish this great mind thought of what your's did -- take a trip during this horrible market. Although the camper van is a bit beyond me though.
Hey Newly, I was thinking the exact same thing!
<<I think the Gestapo was the closest thing that Hitler had to the NKVD. If anything like that happens here, I think we can watch it on TV and cheer because it's happening to the guy down the street and not to us. Kind of like drug raids>>
I don't know wha the NKVD is, but if people are being "picked up" just because they don't agree with the powers that be, I hope you aren't happy to watch it on TV and cheer. It is up to us to prevent this otherwise we will have another Hitler on our hands (besides that kook in the ME).
OT I have a weakness for lovely mountain views. The views you showed of the Blue Ridge reminded me of where I grew up in the lower Catskills. I would look for those views in the Hudson River school paintings. There is something about the color in these scenes. By the way, also loved your sunset pix from the Everglades.
OT Newly, just had a chance to look at your pictures of the Blue Ridge Mtns. So lovely - and again thanks for sharing. The photos are a nice diversion from this crummy market.
I think the problem with the IRS is when you have a long term hold on a stock. Selling deep in the money effectively "sells" that hold. At least this is my understanding but I have not run into this problem personally.
Great job Joe. You had a great plan and played it well. I wish I could report the same. I was doing great up until Sept.
The semis are getting some love today.
Today looks like the day. You are amazing, man!!
It's the dead ones that are scarey.
Hey, AD, have you seen DECK today? Its getting ready for us to short it come Jan!
Cramer's 10 back in those days were: SVNX, ARBA, ISLD, EXDS, INSP, INKT, MERQ, SNRA, VRSN, VRTS. (I kept that old list for laughs.)
Many moons ago, Zeev held IGT.
Sounds like something up Joe's alley if they have some trust preferreds and/or the like.
Hey Joe, HIG getting clocked. I know nothing about it other than that (which I read from another board without any other commentary.)
I wish I had something intelligent to say about this market. I am among the shocked and hurting.
Newly, How come we haven't been treated to your pictures of Rio yet? You must be busy decorating your new digs. ;)
Thanks, redfisher, and others who have responded. Not sure it will be a great deal doing this 403B, but will continue looking into the companys suggested.
I previously posted this 403B question to another board but I didn't get a response. Perhaps some here can help?
Does anyone have any experience or knowledge of 403B plans? My brother has to choose between the following providers and I don't know how they compare (fund choices, fees etc.) If they offered Vanquard I would have suggested that but, alas, that is not on the list. Many thanks!

Joe, I think smartmoney.com has a stock screener. never used it though.
Yeah, +3% beats losing money any day.
Not sure what you mean about quick fixes.
Interesting map, cy, thanks for sharing.
AAPL not looking so good.
I hear you on the frantic trading environment. I'll go into a trade and then freeze -- not a good survival technique in this market. Even if I'm not trading, just watching the violent movement of red go by makes me anxious. At this point - even the green makes me anxious too - like it is the last opportunity to sell something for more than zero.
Just trying to hang in there.
TEVA I have owned for years. Maybe I should buy more? Why so many shorts, any idea?
CCJ, for me means first making my money back (for this position anyway). Fundies aren't sexy these days and prob won't be for awhile. I have no idea how it trades either, but I hope you can skin a good one on the long side.
I also hope that solar can come around, even though I am not really invested in it. It is the latest rage around here in Silly Valley. However, capital requirements are going to put the squeeze on many of these little firms, sooner versus later.
If I had any extra money I would probably focus on bio-tech. I don't remember your IMCL call, Paul, so not to worry about it! Besides, chickens like me can't cast any stones.
Good luck with your trading.
CCJ - thanks for letting me know Paul. I have held on to a few shares and I don't check it all the time. I hope you can make money with it.
<<I miss him... >>
I believe we all do. Lots.
Sorry for the repost. I guess I'm slowly losing my mind.
