TREND1,
At the risk of stating the obvious, different systems work differently in bear / bull / trending / normal markets.
Les' numbers work in 'normal' markets, which we're not in.
Dunno when that comes back, either.
Anyhow, thanks for the work.
rr
T,
My thanks as well, for sharing your work.
Now, let's see if we can get past yesterday's SPX gap down open ...
"WhooHoo !! Rally past yesterday !!"

LG: Have you every described your "daily OB/OS models"?

well, if the memory every re-surfaces again, you'll never talk about less than voluntary sperm donations again.

you ought to watch the movie "A Boy and His Dog".

Donor, indeed
rr
well, you only got the spx down to the rsi 10 line ... two question, please:
what spx number is that?
was that an oversold chart pun?
puking, depressed, not enough whiskey inquiring minds want to know ...

ps: Compaq too.
The world has always been doomed towards that end.
Just keep in mind that there's more than one powerful Criminal Gang in the world. Lots more than two ...

It would certainly be out of character for this or the next administration to jail a high level crook.

If you just post the chart URL that would work.

Indicator update:
$NYHL:$NYTOT going down. Not good.
$NYMO MA(27) EMA(23) still bullish.
$RUT daily - Bearish engulfing
$SPXA200R still in dead man territory
$SPXA50R showed a pulse, but still way way down there
$VIX:$VXV time series: level bearish, trending down = bullish
$VIX:$VXV MACD histogram - buy side
I think it's a bear market

AJ,
It will happen again with GM and Ford. Together, they're probably $60B - $80B unfunded liabilities to pension/health.
No matter what - n o m a t t e r w h a t - GM and F as they exist cannot cover those liabilities.
Somehow, they'll get mostly covered. Wonder how?
rr
So now, instead of looting pension funds, corporate looters can loot the Treasury directly.
Disintermediation: progress in the 21st century.
Creeps me out to have a 'bank holiday' nowadays. Wonder if the Fed gives the staff the day off, and they take it?
Must be tough shoveling all that cash into a fire.

Markets open, bank holiday, settlements f'ed up by a day.
rr
As I understand it, the issue is Federal funding of research on stem cells using human fetus remains.
I am truly opposed to using human fetus remains for any economic or research purpose whatsoever, but I am truly in favor of stem cell research.
It's really too bad the distinction is rarely made.
Best regards,
rr
MID and RUT are drilling down. SPX won't be far behind.
Hills call yet?

If China is going to spend $550B or so, will it not come from foreign reserves, like Us Debt? And, if they're spending the money, will they be net sellers of debt? And if so, who funds the US $xTrillion bailouts?

It's after 2:30. SPX went up. Can't I take my winnings and leave this rigged game now?
I was trying to lengthen my hold times too, and have shortened them considerably in the past year.
Good luck to us all,

You've recognized my true persona.
Now, send me all your money, and I'll redistribute it.

Your friend, and TGIF,

I watch the 1 minute chart for entertainment value. Like a TV in the background.
All 401(k)s are intended to be "forever", but really, months to however long a swing lasts.
The IRA's are days to weeks, but really, minutes to however long the swing lasts.
The cash accounts are whatever seems appropriate.
rr
You can go bet on the OBH Direction on LG's thread ...

My favorite chart to watch is the i minute SPX. I change my mind constantly.
SPX in a range since panic bottom on the 10th or so. All the indicators I use for IT work are 'up'.
That's how I bet ...
rr
Ramp.
Pocket change we can believe in.
rr
Just goes to show you ...
1) Some people will vote for anything, and
2) Both choices had 'issues'.
Shouldn't the Republicans get cash or something in reparations for getting kicked around?
rr
How long do I need to stick with the 'no lows' vote?
I'm good for the next few days anyhow.
GLWYT, and TGIF,
rr
Congressmen are usually idiots, especially those from CA and NY.
Major proposals come from TVOG(tm), not Mr. NoName (D-CA).
Chill, and make the MID go up. Good man,
rr
AJ,
It's really quite simple, this financial stuff.
Either the USofA gets back to producing real things of real value - pumped/refined oil, cars, electricity, gadgets, stuff - or not.
If so, you can expect the real value produced to reload the real capital/wealth lost over some period of time. If not, you can expect all manner of bad things to happen.
Given that, rational gov'mnt policy is to support production. Haven't seen that yet. If it happens, though, da Chief will have been too pessimistic.
War won't work, by the way. We're too good at it. Don't that suck.
Fullness of time, and all. Watch for cars and electricity.
rr
Bush did his service under harsh conditions, and we the people, and the institutions we allow to live with us, chewed him up.
I'm happy that he's getting out of the job as intact as he is.
I'm sad that we the people are so f'd up.
Oh, and I think the SPX is headed south in a bit.
rr
As much as I would prefer to call you names, like gracious winner, or BDS sufferer, I'll let M do it. He seems to have the energy I'm lacking today.
rr
It's easier to get big swings on oddly weighted things like the dow and the ndx, than on something like the rut.
rr
Foot ...
1) "Romney in 2008" ... maybe 2012? You missed this time thru.
2) Can't you wait till this one passes before you start on the next one?
Three of my 5 guru's are lightening up right now. I'd bet on an intermediate top soon.

John,
Inconsistency depends on what words mean, I suppose. Considering recent events, I can understand where Alice in Wonderland is a documentary.
I pass on the 'discredited religious organization' analog. While BO's campaign is certainly organized, it hasn't been discredited. Or, demonstrated anything I want to think of as religion.
Later,
rr
G0: The BO campaign has collected $600M. It isn't immediately obvious how much has been spent.
And, depending on how tomorrow goes, I'm not too comfortable finding that out, either.
