Thoughts...
1. I don't think he sounded more confident, per se, but perhaps a bit less sheepish. It felt to me a bit like, 'phew, we've finally got somebody in our circle with some credibility'. Or, maybe better yet, 'my big brothers here, now I'm safe'.
2. The, ahem, 'questions' asked were almost universally embarrassing, both in content and delivery. KNOWING there'll be barely a few minutes to have our queries answered, for crying out loud why the %$#! do people continue to ask things that a) WILL NOT BE ANSWERED AT ALL and b) add nothing, NOTHING meaningful to what we already know. Gah! Frustrating. >:(
and lastly, 3. I felt no sense of urgency, no 'buzz' of any kind, I didn't get any feeling at all of 'something on the immediate horizon', rather a slow and steady toward the same goal, 'we're getting there'. Repeating that 'proptype parts were shipped in Decemeber' and 'awaiting final decisions and orders', men, we're six months+ in now, either there are orders or there are not. NDA's and specifics be damned, if you can elude to Aerospace, Medical, Industrial... you can elude to an order. That answer doesn't require specifics of any kind.
Bottom line, IMO, our relief that Visser (the man and the company) has stepped in is clearly mirrored in Steipps demeanor. He sounded relieved of pressure, but not 'excited' as I had otherwise hoped.
Another overall letdown CC circlejerk. Bleh.
I JUST got the same call
my guess is it's just a stock photograph. Means nothing IMO. Their whole website is creatively uninspired and simply off-the-shelf generic, soo.... "oooh, calipers and technical drawing, fancy" is probably as far as the vanilla site designer thought went with grabbing it...
Just thinking out loud here, nothing more... But this 'breakthrough' product is widely believed to be the iTV / apple television. That may well be.
But the renderings we saw a while back, they haunt me. As has been said previously, those laborious renderings weren't done for kicks. Those beautifully intricate CAD frame drawings, while could yet still prove to be the iPhone5, wholly or in part, what if these designs were actually of the speculated iPad 'mini'. Di we know the actual scale of those 3D models?
Bear with me... The iPhone is a remarkable product, that's proven, and the iPad is wildly successful as well, I mean from children's books to surgical diagnosis, it's rooting itself pretty firmly, it certainly ain't a niche product any longer. Apple has also been quietly trending its 'redundancy' down over the last few years, i.e., fewer iPod models, etc... What if the iPod mini is actually MORE than simply a sized down version of the standard iPad, in and of itself, a bit redundant, and even cannibalizing to its larger brothers sales...
Could there perhaps be a more powerful, hybrid device of some sort on the horizon, requiring, say, a structural complexity that a certain alloy may better allow.
Forgive me if I'm 'wasting bandwidth' or posting 'fluff', like I said, just hypothesizing out loud. Like Watts, I sometimes find it helpful to put my thoughts down in black and white, lest I forget or dismiss them.
No one has considered, that I know if, that perhaps there's a new, much bigger deal product in the skunkworks.
I know some here only care about reports and news, but sometimes you gotta 'think different'. (Sorry, couldn't help myself.)
Go ahead, flame away. Admittedly, it's likely a ridiculous thought, but apple has never been 100% predictable.
Surprised we haven't heard anything from this mornings meeting yet.
Voting results, news, overall tone, etc...
how about that! More accurately, I'm in Riverview (Brandon). We'll call ourselves SLIC! Southern-Liquidmetal-Investor-Club, FL Chapter lol
red, where are you in FL? Tampa here
I just received the same, so yep, looks like the 31st it is.
The date discrepancy between our notices this and the originally published document, however, is still a bit curious. I'm trying to not read too much into it, but a date change, especially a face-the-music date, can obviously be an indicator, strategic or otherwise. It'll be interesting to hear what, if anything, the meeting ultimately uncovers. But something's responsible for the two week push back...
"l12B007... ...If i am correct i was told the ASM will commence on 29th of this month. "
Unless I'm reading wrong, the meeting has already happened, on May 21st. Three days ago.

Has this changed???
Because a basement can be a lonely place, and one can only play World Of Warcraft for so long before having to take frustrations out elsewhere lol
This board is a great source of info, I tend to read and absorb rather than post, a lot a of smart folks here. But it never ceases to amaze me the free time (some) people have to spend here doing.. well, nothing productive, really. (Mom's calling, your PBJ with the crusts cut of is waiting)
On a more, ahem, positive note, the steady hold around .055/.06 over the last day is nice to see. Not sure how to attribute to anything specific, but I'm getting a similar tingle as a few here, there's something up. I'm not letting go of my caution, not yet, I don't have any more info than the next guy, but there's something in my gut telling me something's brewing. And I believe gut still means something. Sometimes the only thing you can trust.
Looking at the last several weeks and doing my best to read between the lines, so to speak, good or bad, I think we can expect to hear something sooner rather than later. Lots of things just seem to be aligning.
I'd sure like to hear from someone who attended the recent ASM.
Has anyone heard a report from today's ASM in Florida? Or better yet, anyone here attend in person? If the board weren't seriously grilled over the proposed share increase, I'll be very disappointed. A concrete progress report, Contracts!? Sales/Order numbers!? not the usual rhetoric, would also be nice. I hope somebody who was able to attend can shed some light for those of us who were unable.
lol, distinquishing between rumor and potential is practically impossible. The biggest rumor yet was/is around Apple's potential uses, and the potential effect that may have on LQMT's presence in the market place even if not directly profiting from. And if distinquishing between the two is difficult, seperating the two completely is akin to pouring equal parts salt and sugar into a bag, shaking vigourously, then trying to remove just the salt...
Just as everyone, I'm currently at the same time confused, perhaps frustrated, OK, yeah, frustrated, but damn if I'm not still cautiously curious. I spend hours reading all I can, and not just reading, but seriously thinking about and trying to consider every detail uncovered or presented, yet it seems everyday only to lead and leave me, for what seems like forever at this point, right back where I started. And a little poorer each time.
Until there's something real revealed, NOT speculation, NOT bipolar forum chatter, NOT fluff reporting, NOT reading of chicken bones... I'm simply sticking to the one thing that keeps me nagging me, VISSER IS NOT AN IDIOT, and as such, am using as my mantra (for now anyway)... as long as Visser is in, I'm in. That may prove to be profoundly foolish (or just plain stupid). Fine. So might buying even a single share of LQMT in the first place, let alone the gasping pile of them I'm sitting on now...
Time will tell, it always does. I will continue to read. I will continue to mood-swing day after day after day after day after....
No matter what happens here, mark my words, this particular section of the big-picture technology development time-line will be enormously significant. Like electricity, steam engines, internal combustion, plastics, microprocessors, etc,.. Liquid Metal is game changer. A SERIOUS game changer. NO matter whos opinion you choose, NO ONE disputes that. Whether or not it is LQMT specifically (fingers certainly tightly crossed that IS ultimately the case), make no mistake, this technology on the whole WILL BE another historical cornerstone. Period. And we're all wading in the ground zero waters. May even end up drowning in it.
THIS IS A BIIIIIIIG DEAL. And IMO at least, Visser is a rare man. The kind of guy who's eventually cited in 'thinking' lectures. Pretty hard to ignore this as being a combination pretty worthy of at least sticking around a bit longer for. I'll say it again, I may yet be proven a fool. I may well end this adventure without a single penny returned. But I'll not be sitting one day, bombarded with Liquid Metal technology everything, everywhere, thinking to myself... If you'd only...
"it's better to burn out, than fade away." They can write that on my tombstone. With any luck, it be laser engraved in a Liquidmetal, and paid for with it.
hard to blame you. I think I'll stick around for a bit longer. It's hard, but there's been some new stuff uncovered today that has me at least curious enough to ride a little longer...
Respectfully, I'm not sure why my posts are being removed, would the admin whose deemed them inappropriate and removed them please contact me, I'm a bit puzzled
This, along with Hartindo, is quite interesting indeed. Hmmm....
I know I just this morning said I was hoping to let the Apple-Hype dust settle, but I just saw this and thought I'd post... (A ton of new posting here today, I apologize if this has been submitted already).
While it doesn't address the iPhone's body, let alone it's build material, it does speak to it's production timeline, looks like Apple is officially in production of the next gen iPhone, even if not in it's complete form, orders have been placed and parts are beginning to go into production...
logic would have it, more real details will start to trickle...

"The more we get rid of the Apple speculation holdings the better it is for all of the long term shareholders"
I couldn't agree more. While obviously I would be thrilled to have some legitimate Apple support working in our favor (BEYOND the tired and mind numbingly overanalyzed initial license payment), at this point removing this vision blurring cloud would help everybody see, and assess things more clearly. I'm of the opinion, if Apple comes into play, fantastic! But at this point it's nothing more than recycled rhetoric.
Selling my stake today would be beyond foolish, I'm taking a deep breath, liking my wounds, and re-focusing on the war. This particular battle hill is behind us, I'm not packing up and going home, on the contrary, I'm gathering what the fallen have left , and adding them to my arsenal.... Flesh wounds...
?
"I will respond after the conference call"
"focusing on non-CE"
"Apple also included a handy feature that will appeal to everyone who's ever dropped their iPhone: The patent calls for a shock mount to be placed between the glass and the body of the device, which will instantly inflate if the device senses it's falling. If the iPhone's internal accelerometer senses it's falling, an actuator within the device sucks in the cover glass as it accelerates to the ground, protecting it from damage."
lmao
"...is enough to drive anyone crazy"
Sure is. Looking forward to the weekend just to get away from it for a couple of days... Here's (pop, clink, bottle raised)to a couple 'days off' *cheers*
all good man, just trying to lighten the mood some ;)
sure sounds like a sound assessment doesn't it
I figure if I hung out long enough someone would help me understand
It's interesting that nearly every article/rumor/blog/story/etc refer to the next iPhone as "iPhone 5", when the next model withg actuall be the 6th generation.
gen 1 = iPhone
gen 2 = iPhone 3G
gen 3 = iPhone 3GS
gen 4 = iPhone 4
gen 5 = iPhone 4S
By that rationale, shouldn't it be iPhone 6? there was no iPhone 2? And iPhone '4' was actually the 3rd form factor change. Who knows what it'll be called, but I'm going to guess not "iPhone 5"
I'd love some 'plain English' too. Heck, I'll even say it out loud, some good old fashioned advice even. I've tried to keep up with every single post here, and consider all reasonable insight, as well as any other info, news, report, etc I can find on my own...
Admittedly though, an expert I'm not, far from it. I simply made an investment in a company, it's business plan, and in a product with bright future potential. With these latest developments though, well, I'm not just feeling lost, I'm flat out glazing over.
I know nobody is here to hold my hand, but what is tomorrow really expected to look like? Nobody has a crystal ball, but is this a run while you still can, 'sell at the bell' even if the losses are already painful? Is it a 'hold a bit longer', let the dust settle some and see where it goes? Or is this a hunker down, find a comfortable seat and weather what looks like a storm on the horizon?
Most days I feel pretty smart. Today is not one of those days.
looks like some good evidence that Apple will not be releasing a new iPhone model until Q3 or so...

Now that's funny. And appropriate. I'm gonna second what's already been said, this guy is quickly becoming my hero. IMO, this is the kind of guy this country needs more of.
