"I'm sorry I had to fight in the middle of your Black Panther party."
I'm not here to bash TA. If you got an accurate magic8ball, I'm always all ears. But I would ask this question of the TA disciples: If you know you're in a market that is not as efficient due to manipulations by MMs, how can you (pardon the pun) put much stock into it? Don't get me wrong, I'd be proud if I accurately predicted anything. But even a broke clock is right twice a day. Or as we say down here, the sun even shines on a dog's ass once in a while.
Just curious . . . how will you know when you have "solid confirmation?"
I'm curious, did Americanbulls see this coming?;)
Knowing (or thinking you know) what's around the corner, you'd have to be one true disciple of charting to sell right now.
Surely I'm not the only one here who thinks the price was driven down today because the stock is about to take off. I'm not experienced enough to know all the ins and outs of why MMs must do that, so I would love to hear some more explanation if yall feel like typing enough to educate me. For me, today was an indication that some real good stuff is about to hit. I just don't really understand why the MMs can't just leave it alone, and why they get to speculate on the stock. I guess that's their privilege for having alot of money and being a MM?
Yeah, I thought that guy was still around. Yall wake me up if he leaves;)
Tom, what happened today? Answer: nothing. Well, almost nothing. You're just up 184% over the last 2 months instead of 200%. Now, how about we hear from some chart guys??? What kind of candle did we have today, and what does it mean? I love hearing that voodoo stuff! As for the fundamentals, isn't that guy who turned Weatherford around and made them filthy rich still running our company?
Of course you are right. But infrastructure in the rental tool business really isn't much more than fenced in land, things to move the tools with, and an office. Mako has that and more. Plenty of under-roof footage, and lots of room to expand toward the highway. Put another way, that's the infrastructure that produced the EBITDA! And don't forget the cameras;)
Your welcome . . . I think we can safely say that, at least regarding Mako, they've addressed infrastructure.
bout this deep, and this much. Keep in mind that this shot shows only about half their yard and its taken from the highway so you don't get a good depth shot of the fenced yard. But when you compare it to the aerial view, you can tell how deep everything is, including the green acres.

Yeah you right. That empty yard is why they have the EBITDA DDI wants. So when you see this picture, let a big smile spread across your face. I snapped this passing by one day from an overpass.
http://i6.tinypic.com/8akjmt1.jpg
They even have a crane like DDI! If you look close, you can see the Seaeye LARS that were in the other shots. You can also see all that green grass they got on the far side. Enjoy.
So is it safe to say that an empty yard is a great day at Mako?
And when PsychoBilly spoke today of all the flotation those guys use out there, I wonder how many of us automatically had the word "Matrix" flash across our foreheads.
Yep. And along with EBITDA, Mako surely also addresses some of that infrastructure issue you metioned. That place is big. I haven't seen DDI in person, but from the pictures I've seen, it looks to me like Mako would damn near double DDI's physical plant (though it would likely not be used for fab work). Rental tool space. Mako also has a few highway-frontage green acres yet to be developed. And just so you know they're already on the same page as DDI, Mako has been having their own cams for awhile;)
Well, I think YOU sorta covered it in your last eval. (which is some nice work by you, and heady stuff for the rest of us). I'd be the last guy to shoot any holes in your projections, but I was thinking your assumption that DDI would double Mako's output next year was a tad ambitious . . . until one starts thinking of even more new, expensive things for them to rent for deepwater . . . like Proteus. That's why I asked what you thought regarding Proteus' rental market potential. Having said all that, from everything we're all hearing about deepwater, I think it's safe to say that Mako's next year would be better than this year anyway, even if left to its own devices. Nice thoughts. Great stuff Brikk.
So we know what a Proteus sells for. What do you think the rental rate would be for one?
Thanks Sulphur. I'm sure it's painfully obvious I'm no trader!! Guess I'll have to break down and buy an L2 subscription to keep up with you guys!
TDA still showing 1.90x1.99
1.90x1.99...kinda wide?
yup...that's pretty much the way i feel about it too. for all i knew, it could have already expired. glad to hear it from you.
Brikk, since you brought up the subject of dilution, it reminded me of something I've been wanting to ask you. What's your take on the pledge, and when is the actual expiration date of it? I'm thinking (hoping?) nothing will be different after expiration, but I was wondering your thoughts on that. Thanks. MK
well, that wasn't quite what i was expecting to break the silence, but thanks for the great update (as usual) . . . still think we're about to climb!
tick tock. . .it's been 1.95x1.99 for awhile now. . .too quiet . . . something's bout to happen soon. . . i can smell it!
arrrrggghhh. TDA now says funds will be available tomorrow. They apologized for incorrectly telling me they would be available today. Yall have a nice trip. Hopefully I can make the ride, but I just don't see this stock staying at this level much longer. It's ready to head upward, imo.
Brikk, imo one of the most important things Mako brings to the table, in the short term, is EBDITA. Oh yeah, and more great managment. What do you think Mako's numbers are going to do to DPDW's Q numbers??? Regardless of which Q it goes on the books, imo it is going to be a booster to say the least. Long term, who knows, but you gotta like the potential in that niche. Regarding the question about serial numbers, they are necessary for lots of reasons, one of which could be for identification for UCC security devices in the case of collateralization of company debt. I don't think that DPDW has that issue though! (but I am admittedly not versed on the company's financings and liabilities).
Thanks for the info, I really appreciate it.
My bad. Yahoo is also showing 1.94/2.00.
Well, crap. My funds will settle tomorrow, just in time to be too late. All indications point to a higher open, no? Yahoo shows the bid/ask at 1.90/2.00. However, my fancy new TDA platform, which is going to take me god knows how long to figure out, shows bid/ask at 1.90/2.23. Can that be right? What are yall seeing on the bid/ask?
Sorry Brikk. The 40 unit line was meant as a joke. And the market I was referring to was DPDW's market, not the stock market. See you in the am. Have a good night.
but now that both proteus's or protei lol are about to make thier debut im sure it wont be long before we are hearing much more about the technology! (jmho)
Thanks for the reply JD, and again, I totally agree. I'm not trying to be nitpicky. Just wondering if yall thought there would be demand for additional Proteus prior to its first use. One may assume from your response that demand ["we may hear much more after"] would come after its first use. Totally natural. Again, I totally agree. And I'm not trying to rush anything. But as has also been stated, "word is out." Assuredly word is out. I'm just wondering if yall think that translates into any early orders. Either way, I'm ok. I will sit back and smile over any orders -- early, expected, late, whatever.
Good night, and see yall in the am.
Thanks Brikk. I was merely asking when you thought the market would react. Buy now, or wait to see what happens on the science boats. I'm sure the market is already reacting and we aren't privvy. The next PR may give us the answer. "40 Proteus orders booked for the quarter." LOL. I'll sit back and enjoy that.
yes, thanks again Joe. we all pulled alot of great DD from that link.
I agree. That's why I was asking whether we've heard of any orders other than the 2 going to the science ships.
In this market, if the Proteus is expected to be in high demand, surely there will be customers that may want one (hopefully more than one) prior to the science testing. The more cautious customers should know the results of JOIEDES testing and acceptance around Mar 08 - Apr 08, according to the JOIDES calandar below.

I totally agree Brikk. The fact that Proteus is installed on those 2 science ships can only be viewed as great for DPDW's reputation. As for the market's actual response to that . . . that's what I'm wondering. Is it going to be wait, see then buy, or is it going to be buy now cause it's good enough for science?
yep. that's it Chev. Thanks again.
Have we heard of Proteus being built for anyone other than these 2 research ships yet? I know it's early, but I was kinda hoping SLB would be on the phone ordering to have its fleet outfitted by now LOL (joke. . . sorta). Do yall think Proteus is going to move on its own promise, or do yall think the market is going to wait to hear the results of its performance on the 2 science boats?
the deepwater info is great for DPDW. the shallow water stuff makes me worry about my local economy.
I'll be cheering for yall if news breaks before wednesday, but I'll be crying for me because TDA wouldn't let me buy DPDW friday even after I transferred funds to my trade account electronically. Something about they require the funds to settle for 3 business days in the case of certain equities??? WTF??? They said I could have wired the funds instead, and I wouldn't have had to wait. I wish I had known that then. And, they wouldn't let me cancel the elec. transfer so that I could do the wire. Can you tell I'm new at this yet? That's why I appreciate all the help you guys so generously offer. On behalf of all neophyte lurkers, thanks for all the education yall provide.
