Sami New White paper released 20.06.2008
Investigations of power supply and propulsion for a Lighter-than-air high altitude platform.
http://elib.uni-stuttgart.de/opus/frontdoor.php ( English would be appreciated.)
Whats interesting is atmospheric data is collected over Stuttgart, obviously for up coming flight.
My notes pages 37- 40/125 ( 19 - 22 )
pg37
geometrical data:
Length: 232m
maximal diameter: 22.60m
Volume total moistened: 70000m3
position accuracy of the height platform:
Horizontal: 5km
Veritkal: 2km
max. Dynamic pressure in 20km height in wind speed: 130km/h
max. Drive push in 130km/h: 2500N
max. Propulsion achievement: 90kW
achievement request for board systems and payload: konst 10kW
Total quantity LH2 1460kg
pg38
For reaching a long mission duration a renewable power supply of the drives is to be preferred. A possible solution represents the use of solar cells in connection with renewable gas cells.
To start 150kW, maximally which can be furnished,
During the usable duration of sunshine (10 hr euro) the average 360kW achievement must be produced by the solar cells.
With today available ultralight monocrystalline solar cells 3000m2 solar surface on the platform would need to be attached, with a weight of the solar cells of 600kg.
The energy surplus must be transferred to an energy storage with a capacity of 2.1 MWh. Such, accumulator batteries composed of modern lithium ion cells weighs approximately 10t. Even with an expected increase of the power density up 300Wh/kg in the coming years, battery systems for storage are to heavy.
pg39
From the available technologies to the energy storage at short notice only the employment of polymer diaphragm (PEM) is gas cells conceivable.
The development of renewable gas cell systems for elevator platforms is defined as an attainable goal, however to today no such systems is available.
The power supply implemented, 3 individual Kryotanks, 3 Gas turbines and 3 generators.
pg40 section view of airchain.
Thought thats was what you were ref to, just clarifying. I must be slipping never thought to email him. Hope to hear more.
Thanks bob
Mathew Been away, I'll email soon.
fwhomeboy any news from Camp Victory?

Time to time I have e-mailed and also spoken to people who work at Google about this idea. Going around ISPs would be a killer to verizon, comcast, msft, yahoo etc.
Gtem boys your crazy if you don't play them off each other.
The day after reaching 65,000' I would drive up to front door in a motor home pulling a sanswire-Tao trailer.

Hey peter you need to put together a promotional video like this.
These boys are looking to solve a problem. Maybe we can help.
General Information
Contracting Office Address
NASA/Dryden Flight Research Center, Code A, P.O. Box 273, Edwards, CA 93523-0273
Description
NASA/DFRC is hereby requesting information for potential sources and partners for the design, development and flight testing of a series of High Altitude Long Endurance (HALE) Remotely Operated Aircraft (ROA) which can fly at altitudes above 60,000 feet with the potential of remaining aloft for weeks to months. The vehicles will be designed to carry a variety of payloads of various weights up to several hundred pounds each and with a variety of power requirements. The vehicles will operate worldwide through mild to moderate weather conditions. The vehicles will have to operate in restricted airspace, National Air Space and potentially over population centers. The vehicles will be controlled from a portable control center with a minimal crew for flight control, flight planning and operations of payloads. Varying degrees of autonomous capabilities and the ability to operate beyond the line of sight from the control center will be developed for the aircraft. Currently four HALE ROA Performance Objectives have been developed. Each performance objective addresses a capability set. Performance Objective #1 will lead to a vehicle that can climb to and sustain an altitude of 60,000? for 7 to 14 continuous days with a payload of 200 kilograms without refueling. The aircraft will be capable of both station-keeping at a particular longitude and latitude or following specific weather phenomena over very large areas such as the Pacific Ocean. In the course of developing the aircraft designed to meet Performance Objective #1, NASA and its industrial partner(s) will review, clarify and possibly modify the proposed requirements. The partnership will jointly: develop the design(s) to meet the requirements, model design performance under operational conditions, and execute plans for the development and flight testing of the vehicle. No solicitation exists; therefore, do not request a copy of the solicitation. If a solicitation is released it will be synopsized in the CBD and on the NASA Acquisition Internet Service. It is the potential offerors responsibility to monitor these cites for the release of any solicitation or synopsis. Interested parties having the required specialized capabilities to partner with NASA to develop a HALE ROA able to meet Performance Objective #1 should submit a capability statement of 5 pages or less indicating the ability to perform all aspects of the effort described herein. Technical questions should be directed to: John Del Frate, HALE ROA Project Manager, phone # (661-276-3704), email: john.h.delfrate@nasa.gov. NOTE: THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL. THIS IS NOT A FORMAL PROCUREMENT AND THEREFORE IS NOT A SOLICITATION. THIS NOTICE IS NOT TO BE CONSTRUED AS A COMMITMENT BY THE GOVERNMENT TO ULTIMATELY ISSUE AN IFB, RFP, RFQ, OR CONTRACT.
Email your questions to Rosalia Toberman at rosalia.toberman@dfrc.nasa.gov

Like imawswami says all they need is those solar cell efficiency's to increase so they can crack the water.
Good Morning America video I would like to see again now that you bring it up.
Now what mountaintop could possibly be high enough so U could take this?

Is it possible in 5 yrs they flew to 60,000'?
imawswami you sure are good with words.
So what is the glue between sanswire and US gov?
Ok got this figured out.
Story short, use calender to go back a day and this will bring up all pics at 1min intervals. So tomorrow should have more. Maybe video will be smoother also.
Live was fun, kinda expected rob to poke his head in though.
Lets see LM has capital and took 300m of US tax payers money and returned nada. I guess the US can give SanswireTao money and get something.
Who would they partner with?
These people (Tao) are engineers not sales people.
TAO Trans Atmospheric Operations GmbH
Pre-Development, Prototypes, Flight Tests
University Relation
TAO Technologies Stuttgart
Control, Simulation, Design
runandadd Something = selected invitees and members of various agencies of the United States government.

movie and stills under galerie.
Adjust time of day and set frame to 1 and it will loop.
SO now that we understand it. Lets not let it happen again.
I for one have a tight handle on what is going on.
Nerd I don't Know. But as far as I can tell these HZ boxes have not taken off very well, inc boxes installed by others. I have never understood having boxes and a airship anyway. My guess it was a stop gap measure until strat could be developed.
optmist Was the old business modal smart? No.
So what do you do? Tao says soon but not yet. You try hotzone quick to deploy, it fails, Y I don't know. Go back to tao, say lets put up the Lotte and we will send you S2 and lets get these to market asap. Lotte go to 3000' S2 goes to 15000'. Ok now we have product. Sky dragon on schedule great. Tao says by oct we will see it.
They are staying focused. wireless will come, first lets make money.
They have their head screw on better.

I just tried a buy @ .052 to see what would happen.
It comes back "No Last and no Bid or Ask"
I think you were referring to the wrong link but anyway. Look at time stamp. The movie goes to fast.
which one are you looking at?
optmist "GlobeTel and Sanswire are focused on the construction of airship platforms capable of carrying payloads that transmit various types of wireless communications and security solutions."
"Today's GlobeTel is leaner and more disciplined, with a more precise definition of its core competency."
BB clarify
sharklady00 That happened to me yesterday
Jetmek Eyes wide open this time. But
Sanswire-TAO Corp. will operate through its own Board of Directors, with Dr. Bernd Kroplin, TAO president.

You know mide these boys have got 60,000 locked up.
imawswami I'm not so sure there is a reason for a S2 or STRAXX to go to 60,000 ft, v skydragon design.
Cole now I C what your prob is.
Like 18m. You have been told over and over that S2 was a mid alt ship, and I'm not going to prove it. Waste of time.
