Bought my first shares in 2009 and kept on buying for many years. I have made enough money on the stock but they have so underperformed relative to their potential that it is almost a crime to have owned for as long as I have.
I still have too many shares, of course right now even 100 is too many.
If Bob was fired and a real CEO hired this would triple in 3 seconds.
I did you one better, I sold a few shares at 8.40 in the last 3min of the day and a few more after hours at 8.10 and 8.15.
Still sucks though.
We are all kicked in the reared yet again by the master chef.
Lemons from lemonade.
Underperformance quarter after quarter, year after year.
If Q2 isn’t over $10mil, Q3 will be. Just my guess.
My expectations for today’s Q2 release are high. Perhaps the best I have ever felt just ahead of a report. BUT I have also been disappointed so many times by Ferris that I almost expect him to turn a slam dunk into a clanker off the rim.
Of more interest will be the stocks reaction. And of even more interest will be when that reaction happens. Remember after Q1 report and cc? The stock did nothing in that after hours session. It was the next morning when the powers that be decided to spike it.
There are many more eyes on it now and some deeper pockets. So again, I will remain optimistic until Ferris serves the lemons.
My attempt at humor failed miserably, my apologies to all.
24 hours from now should prove interesting!
I am not on redit
I suggest you pick up your phone and call a couple VirTra board members. I assure you that if you do so you will agree that the BOD is at the absolute rock freaking bottom. Phone numbers for several are publicly available. I have spoken to three over the last couple years. After each “conversation” I wanted to kill myself.
They are all hands off, took zero ownership, and could not fathom why a shareholder was asking them questions and was so pissed off.
The funniest call I had was with COO Burlend. I cold called him via the main VirTra number. Simply called and asked for Matt Burlend. I was pretty pissed off at the time and was likely a bit unprofessional. He said little, same as if you meet him in person.
Greene was another. He has an accounting business in Phoenix. That call pissed me off the most. He was just flabbergasted a shareholder had called him. Had zero grasp or knowledge of anything having to do with VirTra.
My guess is concern that COVID will slow or stall operations.
But I’m pretty clueless about these sort of stocks
This board is sorta fun now but we shouldn’t become too jaded. There is still a decent chance VTSI stock blows up, way up in the very near future. This week, next week, or within a couple months. I will not say it will necessarily be for the right reasons, but who cares.
Hey relax man…”if someone wants to buy our product they will give us a call.”
I am tickled pink to have added shares below $7. Unreal. Book value holding firm and big rate increases to be felt soon.
Have you looked at the revenue growth over the last 5 or 6 years?
Have you looked at the erratic Eps numbers over same time?
Should we talk about Gander Mtn, Modern Rnd?
How about directors that own about zero shares?
And COOs that own none?
How about a sales force incapable of selling product?
Then there is the CEO who has no experience hiring top talent or even knowing what talent is available?
And a CEO who directs Manny the laundry guy to try to talk shareholders out of their shares?
Look, stuff happens, people screw up, it happens. CEO Ferris is fundamentally a decent CEO for a tiny company but the problem is that he does not know what he does not know. His record at VirTra over the trailing decade is also poor as judged by growth.
I truly believe he and VirTra could benefit GREATLY by a top tier and active BOD. But he is too insecure to have a great BOD. Current BOD does not even have performance objectives or deliverables for the CEO.
The stock is still worth owning though due to who now owns 2+ million shares AND because WRAP might take them (VirTra) out in hostile fashion. It is being discussed….by me!
This has become a big position for me. I absolutely love it at this multi-decade low price. Well run, financially solid, Book value over $15. Buy now, hold for a couple years. Easy.
Had they insisted on a seat they would not have gotten the shares.
5 of us had over 1.2mil shares a couple years ago but even back then we all couldn’t get on the same page.
Another 1.5million shares and you will have enough. That’s not the problem. The PROBLEM is getting a group of several shareholders to agree on anything. It is like herding cats. Been there, done that….and failed.
If they report $4.5 mil or $6mil or even $8mil then it is over for the stock. The only hope then will be pure manipulation by the new players from the direct offering. Expectations are high because of the CEO’s juvenile/immature and continuous teasing ….about Military.
Good to see you still hanging around.
Also good post! Interesting.
Sure wish I knew how many times VirTra said NO to buyout offers.
Someone needs to go hostile, would pass in a second.
I watched the whole video. My takeaways were these:
All competent people.
Best way to participate is via gfgsf.
Given risk vs reward I is why I like gfgsf.
Likely to be good news before year end.
However, likely 3 or 4 years before revenue starts flowing.
Good time to buy now, maybe sell in 6 to 12months.
Question….Why does CEO own so little of gfgsf?
Yes.
Spectacular transformational earnings report today.
The next 3 years will be a mirror image!
Great Q2 results tonight.
Buy the stock.
Nobody HAS to do anything. There are different rules for everyone. If the Feds told VirTra to stay mum until we tell you you can talk then VirTra damn well better stay mum. A Fed shutup order trumps SEC guidelines and laws and everything else.
If I still owned all my shares, I would be afraid to death right now. And I still own enough to be a bit nervous and hopeful and pessimistic and optimistic all at once. It is never straightforward or simple with this CEO. Lemons from lemonade, 2+2 into linear algebra, directions to the mall into trajectories to mars, and on and on.
All that said, about the ONLY reason I own the stock at this level is because of the shysters that bought the direct offering and their ability to make the stock double or triple or go up 10X whenever they want it to. If not for that, I would either be out or only own a few shares to follow along for amusement.
I suspect we all will know most everything within 3 weeks. Lets pray the buyers of the direct offering want out soon, cuz then its Hello spike to the moon.
And never forget the proven ability of our CEO to make lemons out of lemonade.
Nice that we only have to wait 5 or 6 months to know for sure whether the new new gold mining method works! That is a blink of the eye! IN and buying more.
Bought about 30k shares this afternoon. Will keep buying for a couple weeks. Thanks again.
Thanks for the gggof mention. At first glance it looks pretty good.
I have been buying shares on and off for the past month. You are correct, it is a straight forward bet on the Claude team to do it again. It is worth a small place in any portfolio.
OT: You just had to mention HS Biology! The only class in HS that I got a B. And only because the Bio teacher was also the track coach and I quit track. It ticked him off so he gave me a B. I will take a look at the stock. Always fun to analyze new ones.
OT: There are quite a few very smart people on this VTSI message board. Credibility abounds. Therefore I am asking what other stocks you might be buying these days. With the recent swoon in the Russell 2000 index, now down 10% from its peak, it seems like a great stock picking time.
If I didn't own any VTSI, I would buy some now.
That said, I bought more shares of TNP and HRTG today. Both near their 52 week lows and historical lows.
My favorite and largest position is SUP. I also added more of it on this mornings weakness. It is hard for me to resist a profitable company with a market cap of 195mil and annual revenue of 1.4billion. Yes, a bit of debt but not that much.
Other insurance companies I keep accumulating are UVE and UIHC. UVE is more fundamentally sound.
The other sector I have been buying are the beaten down biotechs with negative enterprise values and slow cash burn. Stuff like ASMB, CLBS, IFRX, LUMO, RYTM. I don't like any of them longterm, I will sell each on a pop.....which bios always do.
I still own a little RFP and it too is a reasonable gamble at current price. The chart is ugly but the valuation is compelling. EPS this year will push $8 and the stock trades at $10+. Silly.
Not many green tickers today, but VTSI is one of them!
Hopefully it is more of an informative update and less of a dump.
Bought more shares late today. Thank you Maxim for the downgrade! You must be accumulating for clients.
Sort of fun to think about what 7 or 9 or 12 or 15mil in Q2 revenue would do for the stock?
Or what if only 8mil but backlog grew to $127million?
At $7.40, enterprise value is only $54million, PS of less than 2 and 2021 is over half finished. Most sector PS ratios are in the 5 to 10 range.
Interesting! There are actually viable paths for a class action lawsuit against Seeking Alpha. Authors could band together as could several tiny companies like VirTra. Of course the problem is proving damages. Not worth the effort I suppose.
Your article was excellent. Your use of quotes gives it a ton more credibility than the normal garbage SA allows. It is also clear you did a lot of research and were smart enough to have facts tell an interesting fun to read story/analysis.
More stringent rules for first time authors is nonsensical and likely not kosher in a legal way. There are literally 100s of SA articles on sub $100mil companies and even more on companies that are much more illiquid than Vtsi.
And more and more and more.
Most obvious double from 8 that I’ve ever seen
No confusion here. Stock is going much higher very soon.
$20+ easy. I bought more shares today in the 7.80s. Most obvious play ever.
Today be better!
Pretty impressive day compared to most other microcap stocks today. Just about the only green one I own!
I continue buying.
Soon this will be my largest position.
