NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--Bioenvision Inc. (BIVN) confirmed the European Medicines Agency adopted a positive opinion on its marketing authorization application for Evoltra, a treatment of acute lymphoblastic leukemia in pediatric patients who have relapsed in at least two prior regimens.

In a press release Thursday, the drug development company said the agency's positive opinion comes about a month earlier than anticipated. Bioenvision noted the positive opinion must now be converted into a marketing authorization by the European Commission, a process expected to take three months.

Evoltra has already been granted orphan drug designation, providing marketing exclusivity for 10 years in Europe following the recent marketing authorization.

Bioenvision said it will expand its existing sales and marketing team across Europe in preparation for the launch of Evoltra.

Shares of Bioenvision were trading up 49 cents, or 6.2%, at $8.40, in Nasdaq composite activity Thursday morning.

BEIJING (Dow Jones)--Ivanhoe Energy Inc. (IVAN) and China's CITIC Resources said in a news release that CITIC Resources will convert its 40% working interest in the Kongnan project in China's Dagang oilfield into shares of Ivanhoe Energy.

The companies said consideration for this acquisition totals about $27,386,135, to be settled with $20 million in Ivanhoe Energy common shares and a $7,386,135 non-interest-bearing, three-year, monthly-amortizing loan.

CITIC Resources will acquire 8,591,434 common shares of Ivanhoe Energy at $2.33 a share, they said. This will represent about 3.7% of Ivanhoe's outstanding shares following completion of the transaction. The loan will be convertible, at Ivanhoe's discretion, into common stock of Sunwing Energy Ltd. when Ivanhoe obtains a public listing for Sunwing.

Sunwing, an Ivanhoe unit dedicated to oil and gas exploration and production in China, will acquire CITIC Resources' 40% working interest in the Kongnan project.
