Ttommy, I understand your disappointment, deep frustration and disgust with the company's silence and the disconnect in SP that this caused. But you are misdirecting it! The short won in so many ways, SP, getting the company hesitant to release any specific news etc etc. We are all hurting massively from that! No doubt. Thank you short, you must be very proud!
But you are jumping on the wrong people, myself, even yourself, read all your past posts or even just the most recent ones. Insightful, yet suddenly emotional cloud taking over which is easy these days...to sell now, you would not have to be upset with management or with anything other than that but to think that the tech is completely worthless and that consequently the stock wont come out of this extreme situation at all...thats the ONLY way to justify selling down here...
You know that this is not true! You also know that to textbook capitulate here and right now is most likely very, very, very regrettable...
But it is your decision, each our own. Before you do, read your own past posts. You owe yourself that much...
Guys, come on you know better than that. You know the HUGE difference between ANY and "the other" many micro caps that never reach anywhere close to where ANY already is in terms of development, tech, management and partners...
The other micro caps that fail(ed), and fail every day, we all know they are like very early Venture Capital companies. In Venture Capital even the best and most renowned VCs get many wrong and the very few investments that prove themselves, turn out great enough to make up for the rest.
ANY will... IMHO
Surely, by now everybody (with one or two excemptions I am not allowed to name) knows the huge difference between Docker's containers and Sphere's! HUGE difference!
PLUS it is not like even the most positive statements from Microsoft about Sphere 3D's technology ever impressed you...??
Or if so.... then just look at the joint presentations, and what Microsoft said...IF that matters...
Plus as the technology gets out there, the market will quickly realise the potential...thats all what the market for small caps is about
Also relatively quiet there, patience set in...when requesting entry, please mention your ihub name, many thanks. eom
Try to look for Google Apps and Azure in the Apple Store, they show for me. eom
I do actually agree with you on multiple fronts. And sorry wasnt meant to be condescending or something, I apologise if it came accross like that. My comment was more geared towards the fact that currently we seem to be valued as a company with a huge question mark on the technology. Simple and unfortunate fact. That was what my comment was geared towards.
Meaning whoever sells here, would not even have to believe that many aspects of the company could be improved but to believe that with the utmost probability the underlying technology doesnt work at all.
I never said I think management did nor did not do all they could, or are the absolute best to take this ship to the next level. Even they themselves would I doubt say that their capabilities and resources are ideal to extract maximum potential from it! Thats why the shareholder committee was created shortly after the Clinton Group letter. It is no co-incidence I believe.
S3D is in a sector with VERY frequent acquisitions, and many VERY smart people with VERY deep corporate pockets and VERY nice premiums getting paid. My belief is simply that the technology does have value, as modest as that sounds. Either the management will extract all the value that can be extracted from it, or sooner rather than later, the markets invisible hand will ensure that it will be acquired. I am simply good both ways...
Realistically, I cant change specific aspects of the company, realistically all I can "believe" in is that the market will ensure either of the two scenarios (great execution or acquisition) to come true. From these levels, either scenario looks VERY good to me...
Priced in. Also, on the ground things appear VERY promising. On a variety of fronts btw... not just one or two...
But, lets use this opportunity to objectively summarise, we have an unanimous short trolling Boards multiple times a day with a variety of aliases and spreading FUD even going so far as calling S3D "a turd", and on the other hand major partners and their executives praising S3D...
It is NOT about believe or hope- dont let ANYBODY tell you that- it is simply about OBJECTIVELY and LOGICALLY who do WE choose to listen to:
1) A variety of high profile executives of major IT companies not being unanimous and publicly praising S3D and partnering up with S3D, and that with absolutely zero interest of "pumping" the share price of S3D...
OR
2) that FUD spreading unanimous aliases "guy" (could be a girl) who is hiding and trolling Boards for a living with an obvious and self declared focus on just getting the share price down?
Please try to find any mildly intelligent 12 year old...and ask him that VERY simple question...
Thank you very much for your post!
To save us all some of the guessing, or not actually, here an excerpt from an article about Seattle, the "new center of a tech boom" as per this NY times blog:
Rain or shine, Seattle has quickly become the center of the most intensive engineering in cloud computing: the design and management of global-scale data centers. Last year, Mr. Hilf was hired from Microsoft’s giant cloud business, Azure, to spearhead HP’s efforts to build its own cloud service (based in Seattle, not at HP’s home in Silicon Valley), and build technology for other cloud companies.
It was a 13-minute drive from Microsoft to his new office, above the Seattle convention center. Amazon Web Services, the biggest of the cloud companies, is a six-minute walk from HP, in downtown Seattle. North over Queen Anne Hill, in the Fremont district, Google has a thousand engineers working on its cloud system. In Kirkland, near Microsoft, there is another Google facility.

Hmmm, clear as glass... others feel free to chime in...
We believe that Sphere3D’s Glassware 2.0 virtualization technology is a container-based virtualization technology that is significantly faster than other virtualization technologies due to its ability to host multiple operating systems and applications on a common kernel. In our opinion, this container-based technology is optimized to run and remotely deliver native- speed applications performance on any device and operating system since it eliminates the performance overhead associated with traditional hypervisor-based virtualization. We note that Glassware 2.0 supports all Windows, Linux, Android, and any proprietary mainframe or legacy operating system and applications written in the last 30 years and enterprises can use Glassware 2.0 to quickly migrate legacy applications to the cloud.
Glassware 2.0 is optimized to remotely run existing and new software on any operating system at “native speeds” without recompilation. Sphere3D has demonstrated a 10x improvement in the number of hosted, concurrent users for a Glassware appliance-based Windows Azure cloud virtualization environment versus traditional virtualization stacks running on a Windows server environment.
From Roth, after they attended the Sphere with Microsoft presentation.
Maybe Hugo should have gone there..

Good points, and also leading to the illustration of where we came from and where we are:
1) Yes, ithe company is now in the coming to market stage with respect to its most important products, some already are in the commercialisation phase like Snapcloud. Those who expected an immediate launch of all products got disappointed as the company's focussed on bigger plans and strategy this year. Just look at Novarad, first a partnering, then enhancement and co-development of new integrated solutions and now, delayed to initial announcement, BUT in MUCH better product potential and revenue potential...that is starting this quarter...
2) Other products as announced being worked on right now, so as to create that big splash when launched in short order...let's not elaborate here for Hugo..
3) The shorts hate our realisation that this is not an immediate revenue but technology play based on potential of solutions they are working on. Attacking past revenue numbers or lack of past revenue growth was easy so far. Thats why their focus on right now. Otherwise they would disappear and just let it cone to what they think is the outcome: nothing, "turd" as they even call it. Why take the effort to post unrelentlessly the same thing if they could just wait and let it "the inevitable" of their theory transpire? Instead, they are here with 47 aliases in constant bombardement mode. Contradiction much?
Well, all the while they still can't explain the extremely positive responses of Sphere 3D's partners, execs, industry analysts etc.
4) Mind you, even if suddenly revenue would emerge tomorrow, they would then frighten us with, if not profitable then company will need funds! What good is revenue with no profits? Who would invedt in a non-profitable company? And when profitable, they will say, with no dividends, what is shareholders' gain? That silly FUD game will never end until they are out...
5) Believe it or not, some investors realise the value of "the dream" also called the potential of the technology. Undeniably they have been buying quite a lot recently from people who cant/couldn't...
The jury still out on that one, the numbers and conclusions vary by source and the shorts might have been covering their Canadian short position...after all...would make sense to cover those shares first, after all you dont want to seem covering! Without doubts there are ways and ways to hide it...
However, more interestingly IF not, then somebody(s) was buying in very large volumes, taking over all these shares from impatient retail investors...quite a LOT changed hands so far...
Please enlighten us who in your eyes was buying that much Sphere 3D stock, you seem to be eager to.
A lonely, suicidial, very rich and delusional maniac with no heirs??
Azure is a whole platform, we would basically be available on the platform...so that programs can be easily virtualised/containerised using GW once available on Azure...
Well, some people have some idea, as also evident from that...,but you are completely right the market doesn't (yet), otherwise we would not be in the mid $2s...but much, much higher...
True actually. So far, they had delayed revenue growth to follow bigger plans with undeniably ever bigger partners.
Good point.
Extended collection of quotes
As new investors may find it hard to catch up on all the developments over the past year, this may help to get a better idea:
Nicole Herskowitz, senior director of Product Marketing for Microsoft Azure: “As the world becomes more mobile and generates significantly more data, enterprises are seeking a mix of cloud and on-premises services that can help them quickly deploy applications and effectively manage all of this data. “Sphere 3D’s solutions extend the capabilities of Azure enabling customers to seamlessly manage apps and data in a hybrid cloud environment.”
Vibhor Kapoor, Director, Microsoft Azure Product Marketing said “By working closely with Sphere 3D, we are able to continue to deliver on that commitment and provide a new level of flexibility for organizations looking for scalable application delivery from the cloud.”
Larry Orecklyn, Microsoft VP and Chief Evangelist: “Sphere 3D is again demonstrating agility, creating exciting hybrid solutions architected to deliver user apps and data on-premises or in the cloud . That is what makes Sphere 3D a great fit with our Azure cloud ecosystem.”
Eric Kelly, Sphere 3D CEO: "The Microsoft relationship is long term. What rolled out is Phase I. Microsoft sees value on a Global basis. What you see now is just the beginning."
Tim Law, President Novarad: "We initially envisioned NovaGlass as a solution that will leverage our PACS and RIS solutions to give users access to full imaging features from additional endpoints. However, over the last 12 months, it has evolved to significantly more. Today, having worked closely with the team at Sphere 3D and spent time canvassing our customers, we see NovaGlass as a platform that enhances clinical workflow and can increase our ability to positively impact patient outcomes."
Paul Shumway, Senior Vice President of Novarad said: "We have tested many of today's leading virtualization technologies and have looked at a number of potential solutions; none were able to deliver the simple migration to virtualization and incredible performance that we get from the Sphere 3D approach to virtual computing. The first time we saw our products run on Glassware 2.0, we were sold."
August Calhoun, Ph.D., vice president/general manager, Dell Healthcare and Life Sciences said: “The addition of Sphere 3D’s solutions to Dell DRIVE Plus ensures that we are offering the most robust virtualization experience possible for our EHR customers”. “Through this collaboration with industry leaders we are able to deliver a truly innovative reference architecture for healthcare systems.”
James Townsend: President of Microsoft Gold Partner InfoStrat, “Sphere 3D Virtualization Enables On-Demand Testing for Grades K-12.”
Bryan Bleil, vice president of online technology implementation at Pearson. “We welcome Glassware 2.0 into the TestNav Qualified program as a technology provider that shares our goal for enhanced learning capabilities through technology adoption.”
Dustin Hardin, Director of Technology of New Caney ISD, a current Glassware customer said: "We tried traditional virtualization techniques but the specific applications we needed couldn't virtualize or wouldn't scale. With our Glassware 2.0 enabled Dell(TM) server, we were able to virtualize the applications we needed and future proof our investment in Chromebooks for our students."
Jason Katcher, Head of Education and Recruitment Advertising Google: “We see things diff. Leave it there. You sell on past. Others buy for future. Buying more (ANY shares) here. Nice job @Sphere3D on call.”
Jeffrey Schwartz is editor of Redmond magazine and also covers cloud computing for Virtualization Review's Cloud Report. - “A new Microsoft partner, Sphere 3D, is making containers that have fewer dependencies than Docker.”
Laura Didio, highly respected tech reviewer tested GlassWare and said: " it does everything it claims to do. Sphere3D Glassware 2.0 & V3 Appliances are all excellent."
Terri McClure, senior analyst at Enterprise Strategy Group, an IT research firm, observed that Sphere 3D's approach helps customers avoid the tangle of compliance and security issues that can arise when they engage with third parties to build out their hybrid clouds in response to the rise of mobile work style. SnapCLOUD fits the bills, McClure said. With the introduction of the its SnapCLOUD technology, "Sphere 3D appears to be addressing customers' needs to be able to centrally manage and deliver all of their enterprise data, regardless of whether it is on premise, in the cloud, or which device employees prefer to use for work," she asserted.
Deni Connor, a principal analyst with Storage Strategies Now, said Sphere 3D wants to capitalize on the growing trend toward cloud-based file storage. "That gives them a cloud gateway capability so that users can store their data wherever they want. The fact they are allowing file and block access as well as supporting snapshots and replication is important," Connor said.
Roth analyst Krishna Shankar commented, "Following the merger between Overland Storage (OVRL) and Sphere3D, we believe that Sphere3D is making good progress in leveraging its cloud virtualization software and storage/virtualization appliance technology for any application and operating system running on any device including a key partnership with Microsoft's Azure Cloud services."
Simon Bramfitt, CTO at Sphere 3D and Founder of IT consulting firm Entechely Associates, said (even before deciding to join Sphere 3D): "both Glassware and V3 have a genuinely new take on the business of getting Windows applications (Glassware) and Windows desktops (V3) in front of end-users." "Sphere 3D looks poised to create a whole new technology classification with Glassware 2.0, a hyperconverged cloud client app hosting appliance.", "Aside from its being a hardware appliance, it is its inherent simplicity that is Glassware’s first key differentiator.","Glassware’s other big differentiator is its flexibility in distributed and hybrid cloud deployments."," Glassware looks to be a good fit for almost any organization that recognizes it needs an RDSH-style application hosting solution but is unwilling to take on the complexity of current-generation solutions."
Michael Keen, Tech expert and former VP Technology Services at Sphere: " Apps are the biggest challenge that enterprises face today. Getting them to the cloud is one of them... the Glassware platform is very disruptive and can help millions of apps..Glassware is a platform that can enable this migration and save enterprises significant $$ & empower.. IT orgs to make the transition of legacy apps to the cloud much easier. Glassware and hybrid cloud FTW"
Jim Broemmer, CEO at Adams Telephone Co-Operative. “There is a tremendous opportunity in the virtualization market that requires a solution with the right price performance benefits. Sphere 3D’s automated solution allows us to expand our portfolio of offerings to include economically sound virtual desktop and application services to our customers.”
Cyril Pennanech who is responsible for IT services and networking at LISA: “High availability of our storage infrastructure is critical to our research activity and the reason we chose SnapScale. We were also very impressed by the simplicity and scale of SnapScale. Since our initial deployment, we have seamlessly added capacity, and we expect SnapScale to continue growing as our data grows."
Todd Hartung, vice president of Promark: “End users and IT solutions providers are looking for choices and flexibility as they embrace cloud mobility and the relentless data growth in their environments. Mario M. Veljovic, Vice President Solutions MENA at Global Distribution FZE: “Partnering with Overland Storage, with its pioneering technologies, is a great step forward in our Mission. Being among the first to introduce their latest VDI Solutions in the region is a great privilege.”
We all know that for two weeks now... Priced in...thanks anyway
He had to sell less than 30% of his position due to some margin calls, as we went below $3 and became not marginable, thanks shorts, well done!
At least down here, nobody can get any more margin, so no more margin calls to ignite...
Add the OBV, shows capital flight at its best. Whats the opposite of hype? Complete disbelief?
Thank you! Every once in a while, a very insightful big picture post comes along. This is certainly one of them. Thank you.
That's where we differ. We believe that thinking that "we get $1k per installation" is a very silly assumption. Which appliance costs $1k per healthcare institution, so each entire institution is buying equipment worth two ipads then? Not even! Wow, ok...
You are kind of proving my point actually...
So, you would have liked to see revenue from the Novaglass MPA even before the company themselves said that it will start in Q3?
You would have also liked to see revenue from GW on Azure before it is even launched?
In what world?? How??
I beg to differ. We did and can see. Frustration with SP aside, you can not make us fail to completely look beyond the fact that S3D, as every company before the final launch of its products, is loosing money and has a weak balance sheet as a result of that.
Failing to completely acknowledge all positive developments, actually discredits yourself...
We know you only look at the past, everybody serves his intention I guess, but two hit pieces in one day, none mentioning that from GW being a "myth" we are finally launching products on major platforms with major partners, also says something...
They did not even PR/ announce three very simple PRs:
1) New CTO for a Technology company
2) Roth Capital presentation in a week (as little as it means EVERY small cap announces)
3) Glassware launch on Chromebook
Nothing, by doing none of these easy things, it leaves the only logical conclusion that they want us out intentionally to make place for guys who dont get flustered by the shorts etc., the big money seems their new master in charge...
Shorts and big money alike want us (for different reasons though) to capitulate, before we finally turn...hardly all it all being a "co-incidence" in timing...all just before the validations we have been waiting for for so long...
Of course! But everybody is entitled to their opinion, and it depends how well one knows the space, the company etc, so everybody might have his own reasons.
Shorts have their extreme scenarios too. In a weired kind of way, it creates balance. eom
Free download of GW, from in this example Chromebook, to access G-series appliance (of Sphere 3D) or other server on which Glassware was installed by admin of organisation/ enterprise. GW license can be charged as per usage to access apps virtualised with GW.
From within the apps virtualised by GW, storage also accessible on public or private cloud (Snapcloud).
Just launched, very young company, finally coming out.
I will raise you one. Probably those so far even just testers. Not really users.
Give it time. Time you don't have, as it is working against you now
Your task was very easy, about to get tougher
Vaporware, now accessible on every Chromebook! eom
Need like button... eom
If we are all "hype" then how come?
1) Novarad is so openly embracing and focussing on promoting the V3 solutions (and Snapscale from Overland with GW) to their clients?
2) A bribe? And how did we bribe Microsoft?
attended Sphere 3D investor/analyst briefing yesterday in which the company provided its strategic growth plan to position itself in the hybrid cloud, while it showcased its latest virtualization, storage and data management products and solutions. In particular, the session included a keynote from Mr. Larry Orecklin, VP, Chief Evangelist of Microsoft where he emphasized the importance of its partnership with Sphere to its Azure platform.
Supporting Microsoft In Hybrid Cloud: With Sphere being in a product transition phase, we believe it was insightful to hear firsthand from a member of the Microsoft team (Mr. Larry Orecklin) speaking on the significance of its technology and sales partnership with Sphere. Specifically, Mr. Orecklin highlighted the use of Sphere’s technology in extending the capabilities of the Azure platform that Microsoft otherwise could not do on its own, particularly on enabling the hybrid cloud model, whether it be on-premise, in the cloud, or some combination of both with scalability being one of the key benefits. Recall, Sphere and Microsoft entered into a strategic collaboration earlier this year to enable support of Glassware on Microsoft Azure. The two companies are working together to simplify businesses’ migration of existing Windows-based applications from physical infrastructure to the Azure cloud and while they are targeting various verticals, the education market has been the initial target market. On that note, New Caney ISD, an independent school district in Texas, US, is a customer of Sphere and Microsoft with Mr. Orecklin indicating that the two companies were able to help New Caney transition to the hybrid cloud supporting 10K devices as it was unable to make the shift on its own given the limitation of its infrastructure that was not cost effective and would have made it uneconomical.
Above from the Cormark report: http://investorshub.advfn.com/boards/read_msg.aspx?message_id=114647138&txt2find=Session
3) And how did we bribe New Caney?
"We tried traditional virtualization techniques but the specific applications we needed couldn't virtualize or wouldn't scale. With our Glassware 2.0 enabled Dell™ server, we were able to virtualize the applications we needed and future proof our investment in Chromebooks for our students," commented Dustin Hardin, Director of Technology of New Caney ISD, a current Glassware customer. "Having the ability to securely deliver virtualized Windows-based applications to our students allows us to plan around our own technology roadmap instead of having to rely on multiple software vendors to release compatible versions or maintain support for existing versions already in use by our schools."
Sphere 3D Glassware Delivers Solutions for Digital Learning Environments
It is good EK was not desperate, obviously then Novarad is busy selling, and he did not say, dont call, quite to the contrary, he was very confident in Novarad's response to the enquiry!
Besides, so why would Novarad be so happy to praise and sell the V3 solution, because they are now "in on it"? Bribed obviously, same as MSFT was bribed?
True also, the Dow fell 500! points in the last two hours...
So who else please would sell this much stock in such a short time?
Every normal even capitulating seller would do so over time of hours, days! Especially after seeing that we held the 3s and was able to comfortably sell into it?
Who if not you?
Wouldnt you think that if we were not aware of the possibly negative interpretation of all these items, then we would be trading at much, much higher prices?
The mere fact that you are forcing us to constantly (re-)evaluate each and every little positive interpretation of ANY development or statement actually mitigates most of these points...
In this context, may one even say thank you for a change...
May, 2015 from the Master Purchase Agreement announcement:
There is your answer: “We initially envisioned NovaGlass as a solution that will leverage our PACS and RIS solutions to give users access to full imaging features from additional endpoints. However, over the last 12 months, it has evolved to significantly more,” said Tim Law, President, Novarad. “Today, having worked closely with the team at Sphere 3D and spent time canvassing our customers, we see NovaGlass as a platform that enhances clinical workflow and can increase our ability to positively impact patient outcomes.”
Which is also why you see the current docs and specifications, that you seemingly are afraid to look at. It is called evolving...but its fine, keep your eyes firmly closed, please...
Time to do some reading, since you are referring to the specs:
"Novaglass DCO 2.3.5. This is the primary component of the NovaGlass appliance. It is a virtual machine that gets deployed. It is used to create and manage desktop pools. It is also used to manage multiple V3 appliances and create dedicated pool or appliance failover policies."...on the graphic it even clearly says V3 DCO...
Plus, V3 appliance plus Snapserver
Plus performance specifications!
https://ww1.novarad.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/NovaGlass_20.pdf
Might be time to read up and catch up a little on Sphere given your vested interest to enlighten us...
Small advice since you are so generous with yours...pay a little attention to the key words V3, DCO and Snapserver, you might come accross them somewhere in the company's documents...maybe you find a link to Sphere...just as a small hint...its Sunday, sit down, have a coffee and catch up a little...
No, it is the combination of overall business development and exposure that will...
Maybe not straight away to the highs/spikes of early hype days, don't worry, but it will get us firmly off the two year lows! Oh, wait a moment...off the two year lows would be undesirable for you....oh, sorry, lets better focus on past...
Do you think we would really be here at this level, over 40% lower from a few weeks ago if the market would think yes?
Excellent! Sticky please. eom
