PS I wish it was not so vague reguarding our Hollister & Burnstone mines acquisitions and possible JVs with Waterton & ... !
CNGG recently announced that it will accelerate its overseas acquisitions to secure resources abroad.
The announcement came at about the same time as the World Gold Council’s that demand for gold in China had hit a record high and that the country was set to become the world’s biggest gold market this year.
•Canadian mining firm Barrick Gold is said to be concluding talks to sell all or part of its 74 per cent stake in ABG to China’s largest gold producer, China National Gold Group Corp (CNGG), a deal first announced on August 16.
•The deal, analysts said, could lead to a sharp decline in traditional Western trading partners’ stranglehold on Africa’s mining sector as China scrambles to take over exploration and mining operations in Africa to satisfy its expanding domestic demand for commodities, especially gold.
www.theeastafrican.co.ke/business/China-makes-foray-into-African-mining-with-bid-for-Barrick-Gold/-/2560/1634230/-/item/0/-/1171iu0z/-/index.html

Nuru, thanks for the info you posted via the website!
There is a good posibility that the Chinese (CNGG) have acquired our GBG Burnstone mine so... $$$ !!!
My opinions are based on facts and years in business, upper management and administration so... do your own DD if even needed?
Cheer$,
Golden~Polar~Bear
PS I cannot see them letting a 24 million Au OZ Burnstone mine almost in Johannesburg slip through their fingers easily?
GBGLF = MIRACLE! $$$
OUR Great Basin Gold MIRACLE!
1. GBG has not gone bankrupt yet; is a huge positive!
2. We have a Waterton/Hollister/GBG JV! (I have done my DD and I really think this is in the works; please note our Nevada Golden assets have not been removed from the GBG website $o ....)
3. Wits did not acquire our Burnstone mine so we no a larger GOLD company than WITS Gold has acquired or has a JV with GBG in South Africa. :~)
4. The price of gold is slowly rising and the US Fed is talking about continuing the stimulus package $o ... it will continue to rise this year.
5. If we get one solid JV or a profitable acquisition of any of our assets the GBGLF pps with bounce and possibly even explode.
6. Our Chairman and Director Ron Thiessen's international reputation is on the line and if Great Basin Gold fails it will make it much more difficult for him and his JV partners AngloAmerican http://www.angloamerican.com/ to have success ramping up the Pebble Project via Northern Dynasty Minerals Ltd. or to within a decade get an EIS environmental impact statement from NEPA!

Northern Dynasty comments on National Marine Fisheries Service status review of Lake Iliamna Seals
--------------------------------------------------
May 17 2013, Vancouver, BC -- The US National Marine Fisheries Services (NMFS) has announced it will conduct a 12-month assessment of the biological status of harbor seals in Southwest Alaska's Lake Iliamna, in response to the Center for Biological Diversity's (CBD) November 2012 submission of a "Petition to List Iliamna Lake Seal, a Distinct Population Segment of Pacific Harbour Seal (Phoca vitulina richardsi) under the Endangered Species Act".
NMFS is the lead federal agency responsible for research, management and conservation of seals and other sea mammals in the United States. Under the US Endangered Species Act (ESA), any party can petition the government to list a species as threatened or endangered. In response to the CBD's petition regarding Lake Iliamna seals, the NMFS has agreed to conduct a status review and consider the best scientific and commercial information available to determine whether a threatened or endangered species listing or designation of critical habitat is warranted."

GBG "...is acting in good faith and with due diligence in its efforts to further its restructuring initiatives..."
C&P, I concur with your thoughts; this is not going to be a fire-sale if the price of gold continues to ri$e...
I think we will earn over $600 million for our Burnstone mine or develop a solid JV and we already have a basic JV with Waterton Global Resources regarding our Golden Nevada assets and our Hollister mine IMHO.
Get ready for a rocky Great Basin Gold ride this summer with many uplifting bounces after June 28th!

Great Basin Gold = GBGLF PPS 0.007 UP 0.0014 (25.00%)
This was a good day for GBGLF!
Hoping for a solid bounce over one penny pps for GBGLF before the end of June.
Our Final Business Rescue Plan will not probably be made available until at least June 28th and the creditors etc. will peruse it on June 15th.

If we sold Burnstone for a PROFIT or got a proper JV for Hollister properties and the Burnstone mine; this UPDATE for our TANZANIAN Assets makes no sense!
UPDATE ON THE TANZANIAN ASSETS
7.1 The Company initiated a process in mid 2012 to sell all of its early stage exploration stage gold properties in Tanzania. Although the Company was successful in selling a portion of its Tanzanian properties in early 2013, certain of its Tanzanian properties remain unsold as of May 2013. The remaining properties consist of early stage prospecting licenses throughout the Lake Victoria Goldfields in north west Tanzania – some of which are subject to a 80:20 joint venture with Barrick Africa and some early stage prospecting licenses in south west Tanzania. The Company continues to incur monthly operating costs in the range of $75,000 to $90,000 in relation to these unsold Tanzanian properties.
7.2 The Company continues its efforts to sell these assets. If, after consulting with the Existing Lenders, the Ad Hoc Noteholders and the Monitor, the Company determines 11 that the remaining Tanzanian properties cannot be sold within the next month, it may be prudent to consider abandoning the Tanzanian properties in order to cease incurring monthly operating costs for those properties in Tanzania.
This is a concern and makes me think we actually are in a financially extremely tight position.
Cheers,
Golden~Polar~Bear
4.5 The BRP has also advised the Monitor that BRP will not be in a position to file a plan of business rescue by May 31, 2013, which is a milestone date in the Amended DIP Facility. By failing to satisfy this milestone this will, in turn, cause a default under the Amended DIP Facility. Accordingly, the Company and the Approved DIP Lenders are finalizing an amendment to the Approved DIP Facility to extend the deadline from May 31, 2013 to June 15, 2013.
4.6 The BRP has further advised the Monitor that the BRP expects to file a plan of business rescue by June 14, 2013. A meeting of creditors to vote on the plan would be held on June 28, 2013.
We will not be provided with the BRP until the ceditors have voted on it on June 28, 2013 IMHO!
Cheers,
GPB
Time For Some Serious Irish Scotch!
"Conclusion
It has certainly become evident that business rescue is an alternative option for companies that are facing insolvency.
Rather than being placed in liquidation, business rescue does provide an alternative scheme for creditors to be settled within a reasonable period and in terms of the business rescue plan. Often, the dividend offered in a business rescue scenario is far greater than that which would be received in a liquidation."
At this point, I am not even concerned about dividends; I would be pleased with .11 GBGLF pps?
http://www.werksmans.co.za/keep-informed/our-publications/legal-briefs/brief.html?brief=107
I am batting two for two; I mentioned the six+ bids for Burnstone and that they would stretch this BRP out. I know from experience if this gets stretched out; they are still negotiating so... As the price of gold rises so does our potential to survive this financial nightmare!
Also, all of our Nevada assets would need to be removed from the GBG website in a timely manner or they are opening themselves up to varied false advertising claims in Nevada and beyond.
Glug, glug, glug and thank you finally Ron Thiessen and T. Barry Coughlan for showing a little leadership and working on creating the best possible solution for everyone involved with this GBGLF financial mess.
Good luck,
Golden~Polar~Bear
PS GBG never had the funds to properly explore the Hollister property so with the Waterton/GBG/Barrick JV ; we will finally be in a relatively stable position and exploring we will go with an EIS?
Nagoya, I cocur, I was concerned when I learned WITS was bidding for Burnstone. I am pleased to learn that did not get it. They seriously lack the funds and the experience to get us out of our financial GBG mess!

Re: The Burnstone or Hollister Mines
I would like to know how Ron Thiessen is involved if at all in our absolute final negotiations so if while you are doing your DD you learn a little about...
I have learned through the grape vine that T. Barry Coughlan still very much considers himself a Director of Great Basin Gold Limited which I think is good news!
Cheers,

PS Barry has many strong connections in China & Africa.

Is there any information being distributed by Ron Thiessen our distinguished Chairman and Director of Great Basin Gold . No laughing, please!

PS Let's consider this our first bounce; I think we are all looking for several more interesting bounces!
INSOLVENCY UPDATE May 22, 2013
May 22, 2013 – Great Basin Gold Limited (the “Company”) announces that further to its news release of April 29, 2013 the sale of its Nevada assets and operations including the Hollister trial mine and Esmeralda mill has completed substantially on the terms disclosed in that news release except that the term of the net profits royalty may be terminated after five years in certain events.

They could easily further delay the final GBG Business Rescue Plan until the end of June; GBG now has the funds to do so. Do not be surprised if this ultimate BRP drags on until the end of June.

"...In September, 2012, Great Basin Gold Ltd. (“GBG”), a company for which Messrs. T. Barry Coughlan and Ronald W. Thiessen were at the time, and currently remain directors and for which Mr. Wayne Kirk was at that time a former director having resigned as a director in January, 2012, filed for creditor protection under the Companies Creditors Arrangement Act (“CCAA”) in Canada, as well, GBG’s principal South African subsidiary Southgold Exploration (Pty) Ltd. (“Southgold”), filed for protection under the South African Companies Act business rescue procedures.
The two insolvency proceedings were primarily caused by production ramp-up shortfalls at GBG’s newly opened Burnstone Mine due to unforeseen ground faulting and water control problems, combined with gold productions shortfalls at GBG’s Nevada Hollister trial mine. These production shortfalls caused a cash-flow deficiency which caused GBG and Southgold to default under certain term loan agreements with an aggregate value of approximately $200 million. The default of these term loan agreements in turn cause GBG to default under the terms of a class of listed debentures with an aggregate value of approximately $126 million in principal.
The outcome of the insolvency proceedings insofar as the potential for financial recovery by creditors and shareholders of GBG is not yet ascertainable... "
