TeeCee, looks like we got that 1.5 million appox increase on the Int. side we talked about. I guess all the figures aren't in yet but should be close.
Now if we can get a little more P/R from the company we should be able to hold our own, and down the road a whole bunch of somebody else's.
Just listened to the CC. Many things can be said. I'll just stick with solid. And if you look under the first layer confidently so
Feel'in good
I'm like'in it. Always good to SEE growth. eom
Data, it appears many have their end to end solutions in place.
"The company now offers solutions for personal video telephony working end-to-end on a fully integrated dual-mode WCDMA/GSM platform, using a cost-effective small-sized solution"
What would make IDCC's end to end solution they have been working out different?
And yes tech isn't my strong suit.
TIA
JimLur, sorry to hear that. "Quite a few jumped on me for that which will not happen again because I don’t plan on posting any more heads up"
Bottom line, were close and it's going to be fun.
Replay on the InterDigital case against Ericsson to start in May
STOCKHOLM, Feb 10 (Reuters) - The start of a trial in a mobile technology patent dispute between InterDigital (NasdaqNM:IDCC - News) of the United States and Swedish telecoms equipment maker Ericsson (Stockholm:ERICb.ST - News) has been postponed until May 15, Ericsson said on Monday.
The lawsuit concerning mobile phone technology patents had been due to start on Monday. It has been dragging on since 1993 when the companies filed suits against each other.
[MY add, a simple notice of the delay but interesting wording, {has been dragging}]
Interdigital also sued Motorola (NYSE:MOT - News) for patent infringement, but lost
[My add this could have been left out, could be for historical ref, could be a little spin.]
Loss-making Ericsson, the world's biggest producer of mobile networks, would not say which patents the alleged infringement concerned, what its damage liability would be if it lost, or why it had taken 10 years to bring the case to trial.
[ my add again nothing from nothing leaves nothing, but we have again the 10 years delay brought in ]
"There is nothing new, except that the date of the trial has been postponed to May 15," said Ericsson spokesman Peter Olofsson. "I don't know why, it was not on Ericsson's request. We believe there was no patent infringement by us."
[My add. So far removed from the case that Peter doesn't even know why it was delayed, but yet close enough to remember that they certainly couldn't have infringed]LOL
Swedish business daily Dagens Industri said on Monday InterDigital demanded licence fees of between 2.5 and five percent of Ericsson's handset sales from the early 1990s and between 1.5 and 3.5 percent of mobile network sales in that period.
[my add some decent figures]
If InterDigital wins the case, Ericsson could face payments of tens of billions of crowns, the daily reported.
[my add, tens of billions of crowns, can you feel the tension on the ericy side]
The paper reported that Ericsson was confident it would win because the technology which InterDigital has patented had been known in the industry before the patent filing was made. Ericsson shares did not react to the report, trading flat at 6.35 crowns at 0912 GMT.
[ my add ,really, so where does it say that ericy holds the patents, if not owned by IDCC then why is nobody else coming forward to sue ericy since it's now obvious that ericy doesn't own them, that was a poor statement left open ended like that, weak ,real weak. ]
Anyway have a good day
mschere, thats a good post and shows again there is more to this company than Ericy. The company's future is still being defined. And as you point out TDD's will also be a part of it.
It is the right of any shareholder to question the actions of the company, if so desired. To request information of these actions and what effect it could have upon their investment. Doesn't mean the company will respond to any request however.
If they are in settlement talks or not I don't believe whatever action taken by a shareholder, either from this board another board or no board at all will have or would have the slightest effect on it.
Regarding talks of licenses, the sales force will constantly be talks with possible licenses, they have been all along , and will be in the future. As far as twiddling, I think a great has been done as they do wait, and have been waiting. The engineers have been the backbone of this company, not the BOD
Regarding your opinion on the effect of some shareholders and the playing of roulette. I understand your opinion and appreciate your concerns but my opinion is this is such a small matter and that little or nothing will be the end result.
I agree that the company should be run by the people within and not from this board but I also feel there should be more communication from these same people on what they can afford.
Regarding trusting current management, I here for the I/P that was developed, and what that I/P should be worth, not invested in this company because of its management.
Sophist, your thoughts have merit but a bit overdone don't you think.
A crusade of reformist's attacking the very nerve center {BOD} in order to gain a voice over the control of the governance of power?
Perhaps, perhaps not.
Perhaps it was merely a request to have an open form of communications between the company and it's shareholders. THE KIND THAT MOST OTHER COMPANIES HAVE AS THE NORM.
This meeting was cancelled by the company, it shouldn't have been regardless of reasons given. Leave us not forget who owns this company. And where is it written that the institutional investors should be given more information that the individual investors? Wasn't that old school rule dealt with back a year or two ago?
Regarding institutional trading, they have been trading in and out frequently for the last few years as I have posted and have followed. I know the pattern well and IMHO to try and use a failed meeting as the focus point of all trading is ridiculous.
RE: I don't know the exact time sequencing of all this, but it appears to be over the past couple of months. Now, I ask, does the recent steady decline in IDCC share price coincide with these institutional sell-offs?
No. What does relate is the fact of the overbought condition of this company, it's sector and the NAS. And the obvious correction that was to follow the over bought condition. Three such cycles last year. Normal trading cycles for that matter.
RE: the distracting of our company from its laser beam focus on its most important, climactic efforts to resolve IDCC vs ERICY
Don't think F&J , the judge nor the courts are going to be effected by the communication concern you mentioned.
RE: . Even if we grant their noble intentions, with which many of us may agree, to pick this moment in the company's long and difficult history to afflict them with this distraction, at this moment of their greatest need for determination of spirit, clarity of focus, need for our support and good will, even cheerleading, is to be more like an unwitting ally of Ericy and its fellow cohorts sowing seeds for self-doubt and self-examination instead of the total commitment necessary for the mighty task at hand
The BOD is waiting just like the rest of us . The negotiating teams will not be effected nor will the courts.
Frankly I think you giving too much thought and credit to the realistic impact that this effort could cause, which In my opinion will be minimal at best
Nic, sorry for the delay back, been in and out.
RE: How do I see this play out? Truth is I don't.
About as honest as it gets.
Not worried about the political or geo-political as both can be factored. Economics' being what they are for the last three years are still a concern, mainly on the unevenness of breakout that will occur. {as an example only you would want to look at Applied, before Intel before Dell. }.
I agree IDCC has held well and appears on my charts to be bottomed. Course we have the old CC coming up.Hoping for a little more than what has been offered the last 3 times they had them. I think the 5 or 30 you mentioned will be based on the key event we have on the horizon. I remember what you said back in April of 2000, well it's finally here, well almost.
Hope you have more than a few shares in the pot when we get past these dark days of silence and confusion.
Your right Danny can take care of himself, always could.
CLS still has me under his wing. Learning a great deal about investing and how in relates to temp. New wave kind'a stuff. Cutting edge.
A case of beer or TWO! I think I see the time delay concerning the maintenance of the mower.
Bought a new car yesterday, will pick it up either Wed or Thursday, somewhere in there. It's filled with all kinds of buttons and switches that will take 6 month to figure out. The son that is closest has volunteered to hold classes to try and explain it all. I wish him well. The first two questions I got is why does the CD changer have a remote? And with all the airbags in the car if I ever get in an accident will I ever be able to get out of the car. And what's the story with the power seat with memory, heated and 6 or 8 way. Thinking about just pulling that out and putting it in my living room. Better than any davenport I've ever had!
Anyway take care.
Jim
BTW got you member marked some when you post back in 3 or 4 months I'll pick it up.
Danny, tough day in the trenches yesterday.
Been there, done that myself. Many here have.
Nevertheless it's not the time to lose the focus right before the big game. Need all the starting pictures we can get.
Rmarchma, A very few words,
RE: As far as the spilt milk goes, we are trying to keep them from spilling the milk all over again
I think that sums it up nicely.
Just throwing my 2 cents out, keep up the good work you have done.
I glad someone is trying to keep them honest.
Thanks!
For those following the charts. A leveling at the oversold break and previous breakout point. Also in the mix the longview moving avg.

OT CLS, well it's getting there. Not much you want to do outside. Been a good winter so far, not too much cold weather and not much snow. getting by east this year.
Think Nic is just letting us know he's still around. And frankly it's good to see.
Enjoy that t shirt weather you have, still won't trade the summers. 100 plus and I melt.
Take care
OT Cls your right I'm sorry,
that he can't find his way back,
that I called him the GREAT one, pressure you know
that I don't understand that sell low buy high process
Ah, he'll never open the post to find out
Ot Danny, think Nic is just having a little fun at your expense, you know kidd'in around some, don't really know haven't read all the posts but seems like a little good natured fool'in is all.
OT Nic, a little feisty I see. Well I'll start with the last part first. Blizzards don't bother me, more wind than anything else as a rule. Starting to get cold however. Going to be around -15 tonight. Don't seem to have any problems until it hits -30 plus. Then is starts to change the way a person does things.
Don't know about that sell low buy high process unless you're talking about becoming a short, nah. Margins and IDCC don't mix.
So how do you see this one play over the next 6 mo?
Same old non leaf turning jim
Quartzman, Welch did a great deal for the company starting with the direction change and processes he installed in the 80's. Reaped the benefits in the 90's. The proof that you state about other managment running other company's such as 3M is correct but also should be mentioned that they are running Jack's rule book and processes that were developed at GE. Sigma 6, Black belt etc.
Remarchma, I agree, margins can be a dangerous game when used during a bear market with a high beta speculative small cap. Never use margins myself. Have no control over time with them. Same with options
OT Ahhhhh, I can breath easy ,the GREAT NICMAR has arrived.
Nic the only problem with arriving fashionably late is it's your turn to buy a round!
Don't try and sneak out of it now, me and CLS have been covering you all this time.
Good to hear from you.
gargoyle, I thought it would be something important. Think that group has been in and out several times. Certainly nothing to throw off the focus.
anyway thanks for the post.
Too anyone. Just a quick look but it seems the board is in a firefight of some kind. I must be missing something. If so WHAT is it. Still long and strong and just about unshakable so feel free to show me the errors of my ways.
And please go right to the advanced stuff, no need for background here. Know it well.
TIA
Alley, just a few thoughts on the charts. Got a 2nd bounce on the rsi. Expected. I wouldn't be surprised if it bounces a time or two more. At the 200 day support, sto at 5.38 and about as flat as it gets. ADX D+ is still heading straight down but D- has rolled over which is good. Last three day has been nothing but spinning tops. Vol remains above historical norm but has lowered and leveled as of late. I still feel the key to this stock short term will be to follow the rest of the NAS. The company will have to bring some news to the table to change this.
Still an awful lot of trading going on. But the trading I'm hearing about isn't anything that one could be proud of by either side of the fence.
A lot of fear out there, nobody factors the time. I'm holding very strong and will simply wait.
You see, this is the reason you should push your kids to get a quality education. Otherwise, well just let the kid who works with lard all day continue and judge for yourself.Wonder if he wears one of those fancy paper crowns.
Yes sir, he's as smooth as the rocky mountains.
Mick, no your post was fair. I was just focusing on the earnings and chipping in a thought or two.
Sorry to hear about your stock loss. I hope you still have some left to play. And I mean that.
Good luck to you!
Loop, I see your still hitting on all eight, good post.eom
A word about earnings. Meaningless. If this stock during the last qt made 5 cents a share, broke even, lost 10 or even 20 wouldn't mean a think to me. I don't think there are too many investors here living for the earnings right now on this company.
This company is all about what will be, not what was. This company's mission statement and business plan is clearly stated. And the company clearly has held enough back, roughly 100mil last I looked, to ride out the transition period and to continue there own self invested development during this phase of their business plan. Or in other words the patents are still rolling out as we wait on this roadblock called Ericy issue to resolve. They have done a good job with this area of the business.
This is a speculative stock, not a mature fully established one. Current earnings are not the issue, cost management along with positioning for a roll up and roll out is.
Alley, the weakness or correction is just another part of the normal flow of the market and how it relates to overall action within it. Nothing as of late is separating IDCC from the overall market and in turn this company follows right along.
The key then is what will the overall market and IDCC will do in regards to direction until there is a release of the current news expected.
Intend to spend some time on this issue this morning. But the old rubber band is certainly stretched to the down side.
gargoyle, RE No one else on these boards in the last four years has anywhere close to his batting average.
I sure hope your not talking investing. He's been wrong so many times his middle name his Harrigan.
Geez, it is to laugh.
twelvebees, the drop was caused by a large sell. The rise back is minor because of the vol. see side bars on left. Just another day of trading. A few block trades. Nothing too exciting here.
http://www.ttrader.com/mycharts/display.php?p=9129&u=gejim&a=lightcharts&id=171
TC the doji followed by the hammer means indecision followed by the bulls taking control from the bears, or buyers from sellers. After long trends a doji normally means turning point. Or bottom. Still needs to be confirmed but we are at the oversold line and vol is decreasing from the sellers.
Or in other words this is what you would expect to see at the bottom of a trend. However it doesn't mean it will shoot right back up.
TC not always. The key in your question is the hammer either high or low. Marks res to further direction. All need to be confirmed. At all times you need to look at the other indicators, both trailing and leading to find the trend and follow it. At the point of extended ranges and where you expect to see a reversal the candles take on added meaning to time. Or in other words you can "see" the res.points or for that matter support points and how the investors are reacting to them.
Well we got the bounce off the doji as expected. I would still think we get the kiss off the base at least once. Dropping vol that needed to happen has. All in all pretty standard correction.
Took the ride down on this one as it's safer than trying to time at this point.
Anyway have a good day
Well what do we have from the charts. Finished with a doji, rsi at 31 and the sto at 12.0 Lower end of the bollinger bands and money flow balanced out . Selling pressure is easing from both movement and vol scales.
Before I call the drop all but over I better turn on Bush's SOU speech. Make sure we didn't declare war on Canada or something.
Beta numbers, supply and demand cycles, buying pressure? Well sure. Fact is the markets are pulling back and were in the markets. Just a correction. Look at a dozen, 2,3,5 dozen, there all correcting.
Dow under 8k. Nas falling fast. S and P a long way from 900. And IDCC.
Well the drop is about to stop as we are closing in on oversold. The Nas at 37, IDCC at 31. And it won't matter if there is a war or Bush's actions or earnings results. The market will come back up right after the bottom of this oversell. It won't stay at the bottom, it won't drop below the oversell point. It will rise.
And for those that like to us beta as a ref. point. IDCC will rise 5 times faster than the norm. Without news.
Anyway have a good day
Rmarchma, nice to see you still have the "A" game in hand. Good job.eom
whizzeresq, very,very good post! Eom
OT Danny, regarding mail.
I understand, agree and appreciate.
Have a good Superbowl Sunday.
