Wow, I was watching that just last night; hell no I'm not that porkchop (I'm porkchop11 - my old jersey# and what my fullback called me back in HS), I wouldn't leave my riding partner out there in sub-zero temps. In fact, me and wook do some snowmobiling in up-state NY and have seen minus 40 plus...what a blast.
Glad to see you in a better mood lately jess!
Old PPHM just might do it...if so, I'll be riding a new polaris dis'year. Loof I'm wondering if kentucky's finest will keep me warm up yonder?
Even if the 150 mill shelf was approved, the discussion was that it would help us negotiate from a position of strength with a potential suitor (we'll just sell some shares atm-style like we always have to keep operating). Looks like it may be coming to fruition...if the bi-sexual, lesbian lady and her gay partner are right, LOL.
FYI, apologized to Dew, Pcrutch et al. for not properly entering their board.
Hey just wanted to apologize for not properly introducing myself to you, the other mods and posters when I first visited the board. No disrespect intended as I value and consider your views and experience; just got caught up in the discussion at the time.
Hopefully all posters can show some respect towards one another regardless of their stated position(s), beliefs, etc. I mean unless you're an alien (stop wook) I think everyone ultimately would like dreaded diseases wiped off the planet, of course with some lucrative maintenance therapy needed ; )
What about that $150 million? Yea, I guess they didn't push it. Maybe some new development on the bavi front at that time? They did have use of the dreaded atm though.
Buyout-wise we have to keep the poison pill in mind as a starting point, but the boys better be aiming higher than that...what were we saying 1/2 a tril at least if you add up the potential annual sales for all indications, plus cotara, plus avid, plus a rabid wookie : )
Vin - thanks for the clarification, but would you agree that it's becoming clear that the cancer and viruses have learned to mimick the apoptopic process, whether normal or programmed, to avoid a sustained immuno response?
And WOW, what a good hiding place per the below...
Vin - please expand on how the term apoptosis was misused.
From Wiki:
Apoptosis ( /?æp?'to?s?s/)[1][2] is the process of programmed cell death (PCD) that may occur in multicellular organisms.[3] Biochemical events lead to characteristic cell changes (morphology) and death. These changes include blebbing, cell shrinkage, nuclear fragmentation, chromatin condensation, and chromosomal DNA fragmentation. (See also apoptotic DNA fragmentation.)
In contrast to necrosis, which is a form of traumatic cell death that results from acute cellular injury, apoptosis, in general, confers advantages during an organism's life cycle. For example, the differentiation of fingers and toes in a developing human embryo occurs because cells between the fingers apoptose; the result is that the digits are separate. Unlike necrosis, apoptosis produces cell fragments called apoptotic bodies that phagocytic cells are able to engulf and quickly remove before the contents of the cell can spill out onto surrounding cells and cause damage
Great science exchange...now that's what I'm talking about.
Would like to add that a lot of these patients had compromised immune systems to begin with and that weakened state could lead to said delays, imo.
Also, the issue of evading immune recog lies with the infected cells, i.e. the cancer cell takes over a cell and then masks itself as a normal dying cell or at worst a stressed, normal cell not calling for extreme action...once a tumor establishes itself its blood vessels also grow and they too exhibit ps...again evading a sustained immuno response but acting as a double bavi target.
Bavi = immune stimulator...helps system recognize cancer cells, which are disguised as normal dying cells, and send, um, the calvary. Enveloped virus' too.
Also, like Cotara, bavi is friendly to surrounding, healthy tissue (no ps out here)...and can be armed with??? like Cotara can be so armed or is armed.
I'm a long, suffering PPHM long but believe in the science, trial shortcomings notwithstanding (don't forget only phase II, not large PIII powered for pvalues and hzrd ratios). I was in biomara, now onty, when merk kg snapped up its stimuvax at end of PII but it had no where near the mos trend, which basically equates to os if "a majority of the pts are still alive".
good luck all, and shorts please be careful with tight stops; shoot the buyer could be snapping up shares...
Maybe they have...but not publicly disclosed, or all members of the control group may have passed. In addition, HIPAA may not permit disclosure without pt consent, or is not permitted in the trial protocol.
As I stated on the PPHM board, serious ethical issues may begin to arise or have already arisen. I mean crutch wouldn't you or want your family member to cross-over to the bavi arm regardless of the placebo effect some are alleging? I'm no expert (yea dew I know not even close) but I try to apply some real life logic to situations (actually work in insurance, so have been exposed to certain situations involving rx and off label use as well as contraindications; it's amazing what can get done if you take the right track and/or tact).
So Dew, why don't you give us your honest thoughts about the mos/os development here with bavi, notwithstanding the possible trial protocol questions.
Mimicking apoptosis to avoid detection...beautiful, but its days are numbered! QUOTE THAT!- all rights reserved : ) Oh, and virus' and their little freakin' particles too.
they're cleverly citing tenents of both overall survival and median overall survival to bolster their position when bavi has clearly blown soc mos out of the water in an unprecedented manner : )
If all continues on the current path I would not be surprised if the fda awards aa but with a concurrent p3 on ethical grounds.
It's my understanding that when at least half of the patients have died, the median os is reached and cannot change. In other words, a majority (51%) of the patients in the control arm expired in April (god rest their souls) and the mos has not been reached in either bavi arm : )
I mentioned to wook the other day about the old Star Trek movie where kirk and dr whatshisname go back in the past, and the dr. sees the old woman in the wheelchair. He feels bad for her and injects her with what probably is bavi and she jumps up out of the chair LOL!
Hey wookie bro here (gee wonder how I got into PPHM in the 90's) LOL. Great trial protocol debate guys, but I think we're getting to the point where serious ethical questions will begin to arise, as pointed out by WH, et al.
Remember AA, with concurrent p3...
Wook, that quote that was deleted about apoptosis (always think of cells popping); maybe admin doesn't understand the connection, or was the phrase coined or belong to someone else?
¦Demonstrated the ability of anti-phospholipid antibodies to inhibit HIV infection of CD4T cells by FcR mediated chemokine release, thus providing a basis for protection of some SLE and APL patients from HIV infection. (Moody, JEM, 2010)
ooops, imo.
See the pic above in the report "broadly neutralizing..."
