.. is everybody happy? RRI / CPST
R is for Reliant..
I posted an article on SI on Reliant's hit today. (Read me) (PHPI). Watching the action over the next few days. I am up 120% and 140% across two accounts (bot mid $4s) - which just proves that if you cut bait on losers early, you can do pretty well in this thing called the stock market. (and (A) I am not doing that effectively - but trying; and (B) not investing everything in one "guaranteed to go to the moon" investment like the fish in the world -- "I lost my retirement money putting it all on Enron - right at the top!!!" One way to lose your virginity that is for sure).
B is for Bat Cave..
Meanwhile back at the Bat Cave -- "what should I call myself? Bluejay? Blackbird? Finch? Swallow? No, how about Robin?"
C is for Capistrano Turbines (as in the Swallows from...) sí I have a theme...
CPST had a rather good turn around Wednesday. But will it continue? It hit 190 and moved sideways from there. I like the candlestick on Tuesday and the Fast Sto to me looks good.
Wee shall shee by the shea shore...

Cush - Harami (my reference)
(For this continued discussion I am ignoring todays activity).
From "Profitable Candlestick Trading" by Stephen W. Bigalow.
Bonus: Link to Amazon (Talk about service with a Sexy Smile..)
Anyways, here is the page in question. (PDF reader required)
Point 4 - I would suggest that CPST would be Western Inside Day - as the shadow was not within the body of the previous day. Yahoo is showing a low for day 1 as 1.58 and an open for day 2 of 1.58 -- both are lows for each day.
What Western Inside Day v. Inside Day is beyond me. I may have to go back and see if that is referenced - not in the index.
I also felt CPST qualified with both Signal Enhancements.
I agree with your statements. Not something one can say 100% - like most chart analysis - ones intuition plays a role.
Another view nonetheless. I would appreciate your comments.
FWIW: It is the first book on Candlesticks I have read and I am not assuming it is right.
Thanks and Cheers Cush!!

(For everyone - Although I have stated I have a PHPI in this - my goal here is to learn and less on "is it a buy or sell").
Added to CPST ($1.86) (Oh how I love a parade..) /eom
Well if you are going to quote Shakespeare...
Two issues I want to raise:
#1 What is a definition of a Harami.
#2 Is Stockcharts properly showing (or not showing) those stocks that exhibit the "pattern" described.
(A) (#1) You have me at a disadvantage young Shrew. I do not have the book nor the definition in front of me. But based on that, it was definitely not saying "unusually long real body followed by a very small real body"
(B) (#2) Review the StockCharts Stock Scan - Hamari
You will see 8 stocks (based on July 20). You can see all for yourself - but there are one or two WITHOUT a body..
Here are two - with longer than your statement bodies... (that are confirming my points - ergo why I asked)
The first looks more to what I am talking about with CPST. If the "shadow" is a problem then the second is closer.
Anyways constructive none the less. I am by no means questioning you in a negative way (like I know what I am talking about). I am learning. Perhaps another book will give me different perspectives.
My original and more important question is how good is Stockcharts picking this stuff out. Secondary is the true definition - which may or may not be open for debate.
Thanks Cush

(If interested I can surely quote the book and the definitions later this evening).
Stockcharts: Stock Scans on CPST
Just wondering if anyone can assist. I am reading a book on candlesticks (yes greener than split pea soup I am sure).
My question is on CPST (Capstone):
(Assuming today is the 20th I am looking at July 19/20)
What my question is - from what I am seeing, these two dates appear to be indicating a "Bullish Harami". Is this true? Both are long candles (Black first; White (hollow) second); long=strong reversal; after a period of decline etc.
Reviewing others in the stock scan (8 of them on Nasdaq), I cannot see why this would not be included -- unless someone can point out to me where my "interpretation" is wrong.
Further, I can only think that the Stock Scans are based on "mathematics" which are only as good as those parameters given.
I never read it but - how accurate is the Stock Scan? I would think there is a chance of "included" in error on the list and/or "missed" from the list in error.
Anyahoo, appreciate any help.

FWIW: PHPI
Actually tightening is not my problem. It is FOLLOWING.
I was suppose to be bail between 2.10-2.15. The drop to 2.10 was a little slow and then it seemed to follow a low in the low twos with a close near the 2.10. I thought a baseline was being formed and blah blah blah.. Murphy Brown blah.. blah blah blah.
I am starting to look toward better stocks and enter at better times. Junk like CPST and the like will no longer fill my portfolio - until at least I can see some nice profits overall and even then I will tip toe into only a few positions of this kind. Moves into stocks like CUX, at the wrong time, likewise have to end.
So plan B, besides moving the town, will be to actually put into play and follow a plan.
thanks
cheers!

Popup calendar shows the following:

"CND?" ?? ?? ??
Anyways of a more serious matter -- the changes were implemented early on July 15th - and they screwed up and prevented order entry for about 1/2-3/4 hour. How do I know? Their quote listing has changed today --- but that was seen yesterday on and off during the outage.
Great job ASSES.

CPST: Serious Non-sense
I was looking at this to actually go up not down.
Was in a trading pattern tight - $2-2.10 of late.
I felt that it can then either springboard up or dive like a stone.
Well, it appears Bela isn't spotting me.
Today it dived below $2. My other problem is that the last low was $1.91. I thought I was already close to the basement but apparently it might be the 3rd floor - (not that I mind lingerie)..
Thoughts?
My original instinks were to dump at $2.10. Too late. Not adding either. Broken the 200MDA.
Me thinks it is time to hit the exits, and fast.
Blah blah blah.

HA! I wish with TD Waterhouse (I can wish can't I??) they would allow us to not only hide accounts (can't do it yet) but also stocks from the daily mix.
Perhaps you could show them in the last 20 trading days - for loss trading..

Hard to think how about 30-35Million people can make a go on a country that is physically larger than the US. Meanwhile the US has their problems with 250-300M.
Too many people spread across too great a distance in Canada. I truely feel we in Ontario have to pay the bulk of the taxes to suppose those laid off on both coasts. I don't disagree that Quebec is taxed too much as well. (I suppose where Bell Canada took up camp is enough to tell you where the people really are located).
I agree with the voting. Heck Ontario voted for NDP a few years ago. Mulroney had a majority - announced the GST and everyone was in an uproar only to see another majority after that. I didn't vote for McGinty and I felt the Liberals are just wasting so much money I didn't vote for them either in this past election (no I couldn't vote Bloc.. :(
Dolt ends up charging us middleclass with an OHIP Premimum AND cuts out our eye tests - is that insane or what?
Health care is a huge mess and it seems that throwing money at the problem is the only cure that people can think of when instead someone should stop and figure out what the problems are and start solving them.
Kastelco - thanks for the post. I am not one to determine how true your statement of I think the Quebec separatist time has come and gone for my lifetime might be - but as long as they can continue to dangle that carrot just to piss people off in Ontario et al, they will. Something has to be done to end the debate - once and for all.
For those that might have forgotten - in the US it was called a CIVIL WAR. Meanwhile has Ireland stopped their fight?

(To Whoms it may concern - A Naked Blake Trade)
I was reviewing their revised annual report posted yesterday.
I have no idea what the differences are between the CANadian GAAP versus the US GAAP - but there are differences in the numbers from one year to another.
Hard for me to understand. If you look at the CANADIAN numbers there is clearly fudging (IMO) going on around 2001-2002. The peak "losses" were in 2001 for the original numbers (reading the 2003 annual report). But in the revised the peak is greatest in 2002. What is hard for me to understand is - if I look at the 2003 report "US GAAP" the numbers revised for 2004 are not much off. On the surface anyways. They are moving to US GAAP to get listed (I've heard that song as much as Cher's
Believe... and until that day, me don'ts)
But I do know the stock is selling off - down a quarter on low volume. To Canucks the numbers aren't as good as they should be.
But what I did find was that the promoter is alive and well and a director still.
Just interesting is all...
Cheers!

Amazon v. Indigo
I recently purchased books at Amazon. Almost all books were discounted whereas at Indigo they are not.
The "Orders over $39 - Free Shipping" is great value if you can actually wait about a week. They say this method adds "1-3days" before shipping. Then another 2-4 days after that. Yet I ordered in on a Thursday and got it on a Wednesday. So I believe it is sort of a "don't want to wait that long so I will pay for shipping" - that would have cost me (I ordered 4 books) about $12 extra for "2-4days" (ie they don't delay it 1-3 days) -- but as I stated I got it in less than a week for free so it is all a scam.
The other negative with the $39 - if they say on the site "will take 6-8days" to get the book - then you have to WAIT that long for all the books. Anyways, if I really want a book fast I will go to the bookstore.
Anyways a good experience --- esp when Indigo cannot even compete on price in most cases.
The whole book market is a scam and everyone has to watch. You can do a search for a book and easily see the "3rd Edition". Meanwhile, the 6th is out and cheaper than the 3rd. But you have to "scroll down" or click the author to see all "books".
And for those Canucks like us --- whenever you are "browsing" do it on AMAZON.COM instead. They have the "look inside" feature - you can see the TOC / Index and a few pages of the book. Why they don't link that to the Canuck side is way beyond me.
Found the searching was brutal too -- if you type in something stupid and get NOTHING at that point you can go for advanced search. Why they don't offer advanced search from the get go is beyond me as well.
Check this out:
http://www.amazon.ca/help/searching
Click on POWER SEARCH and you will see more info. Then you can ZOOM in to what you want.

Frank.. your opinion please.. on BKB
Would you call that a "typical" off the baseline pop from $2?

but every day at theis level makes the fall to 1.50 (gulp) less likely ??? Yes though it seems there is conviction...
That would be a 7/11 Big Gulp actually.. care to give us another "floor price" to drop thru on Monday? HA!
Even more exciting that it actually ended the day UP - to $2.29 and on extremely high volume... NON?

SUX to own CUX whilst being a CANUX
Well Ameritrade (US or CAN) are offering the same "unlimited" for $10.95. So does not surprise me.
I agree. There is not enough competition to drive the price down. E*Trade could "easily" trump the banks - not with this piddly $26.99 crap - but real "$10.99" stuff.
I am against schedules that force you to have "high activity" to save money.
Instead they have decided to just offer a slightly lower price and not go after investors aggressively.
My only thought on this is - they came in here during the .BOMBS.. perhaps they are just waiting for things to take off again and then they might hit the banks with a much lower commission.
We shall see. I know TD offers a "president account" - of course you have to be INVITED.
But on the bright side, I am sure if you had a few million Kastelco, ahem - and I certainly wouldn't count that out, then you probably could negotiate a lower price directly with TD.
CUX to be you...
Thanks..
Cost of doing business..
I understand your point - I find it hard to pinpoint a % gain/loss without a system that is constantly up to date calculating that number for me. If I can get to that - which also involves a sliding scale (e.g. where a price is 2.01 and above v. 2.00 and below) - then I will switch back.
Further, if I want an 8% drop to get out, lets say, with commissions I have to factor in at 10% -- otherwise 8% with commissions is more like 6% without. All this involves much more figuring out.
I just decided to give myself a chance, factor without the commissions and then report as such. So yes, if I am reviewing my end game, yes, I am probably close to -6.5% including commissions.
Anyways.. for now I will exclude the commissions -- at least everyone following me will know that until I change.
(unless strongly objected to..)
Me skipped.. it sunk.. watching.. watching..
Sold all CUX $3.23 (-5%**)
**Effective immediately, I will *NOT* factor in commissions into the gains/losses - they are a cost of doing business; they cloud my mind; I lose focus.
I would take a 5% loss ANYDAY OF THE WEEK friends...
