Funny, Many Yankee fans say the same thing about Boston. Their 15 minutes of fame should be up this year as Tampa will take it to them.
Congrats to the Dodgers. I am in shock right now and I am sure the Cubs and their fans are to. I thought the Cubs matched up well against the AL this year. We wont find out now.
They will be tough next year. They will do what they have done in previous years and try to buy a title. It has worked for them and it has worked for Boston as they have purchased 2 world series titles to. So they will mix in Vets from other teams and their own vets and they will bring some in along with their youth..
well Philles completly dispatched the Dodgers in the season but the Angels completly destroyed Boston this season. It is a whole new season. Look what Boston is doing to LA and look what the Dodgers are doing to the Cubs. Some real shockers going on right now.
If it makes any sense, I has voiced many times how I dispise Manny and the mocking of the game he does. But I would love to see the Dodgers make it as Joe Torre was the Yankees manager and even though I believed it was time for him to go in NY I would be rooting for him. Besides I just can't bring myself to root for the Red Sox. They have become everything they cried about for so many years about what the Yankees do. They do the same.
lol He's saying that knowing darn well they are not going back to Tampa this year. He is a punk, always has been and always will be. They are done. they are so over matched by Tampa it isn't even funny.
Good job setting this up SS.
I am in shock how LA easily won those 1st 2 games. Manny with the moon shot. He is making a strong case for a big contract showing he can still hit. Batted close to .400 in 53 games for LA with a .743 SLG and also a OBP OF .489 53 RBI's which is a RBI a game averge. It made the hitters around him hit better because they are seeing better pitches since they can't pitch around them. They can't pitch around Manny either. You see the faces on the Cubs players? They looked shocked and they should be. They were the class of the N.L.
I think Joe Torre was done in NY and his message got old to all the players that have been there but It is all new to these Dodgers and they believe. Torre has to much class too rub it in Hanks face but imagine the NY media will eat Hank alive for this. Even those that wanted Torre gone to.
Rays Angels, Phillies, Cubs
Rays, Cubs
Cubbies in 7
I think if they had been able to work on their pen they would have been a much tougher team. Their starting pitching was there and their hitting was there and Phillies didn't beat them out by much. Their pen was their biggest downfall. It was a fun season.
One thing to add to that post should be Tampa wasn't the right place for him at that time. They were not ready to really build even though thats all you heard. They finally got the right combination there right now. They have some vets mixed in with the young guys that is working great for them.
He would definitly have the town wrapped around his finger more so than he does now. I couldn't blame him if he left after winning but I think winning has brought the passion back to sweet Lou and his love of the game and being part of it is fresh in his blood again. This team isn't built to be dismantled like the Marlins were. This is a team built to be a winning team for a few years.
I thought I heard somewhere he comitted to staying next year yet. I could be wrong but think thats what I heard.
I agree, you don't want him being rusty this week. Playing this team that owned Boston this year in the 1st round you want everyone bringing their " A " game. I think Boston is going to give LA a real tough time though.
CC started 3 games in 9 days.3 days rest 3 times. Talk about a stud pitcher.
Congrats to all playoff teams fans. Some really tough teams in there this year. I don't expect anyone is going to cakewalk right through to the world series.
And you know what? They should bring him back. This has been a season of high emotions for this team. He did a good job with what he has been givin. I said it earlier in the year their pen is the problem and that has been proven over and over. You take that pen away, give them a decent pen and Mets probably would have won 98 games.
The Mets are only Vastly Superior for one
Thing.
Looks like they will have a chance to mop Tampa's floor as Tampa will be in the playoffs and Mets have plenty of time to Mop Tampas floors since Tampa wont be home til well after the floor dries.
I don't think Santana would get MVP. I think it is hard to make a case for a player that only plays once every 5 days with the record he has. He is a great pitcher and pitched a increadable game yesterday. He has pitched great this season and would have a better record if it wasn't for that pen the Mets have. But I just think it is a strech. I can believe he would be Team MVP although I think David Wright ranks right up there for the Mets team MVP.
I think realisticly Moose wuld have to stick around 3 years to have a shot at it from where he is right now. Then it depends on what kind of team he signs with and if they will give him run support.
lol very true. em
I don't think he will get it. He will probably get some votes though.
It is nice we have some meanigful baseball still left as some of the races are still on. I am Happy the Mets game is earlier than the Brewers game. I never thought I would give up watching Yankees and Boston to watch another team.lol
I think the Rays have what it takes to go all the way. They are a tough team and I think they match up well against LA and definitly will get past the 1st round against the central weather it is the Twins or the White Sox.
The sad part is Moose probably should be sitting at 22 wins this year. There were a few games that Yankees had RISP mutliple times and still didn't get the runs in and lost by a run when they should have easily won the game. He has pitched better this year than he has since he became a Yankee. He should be the team MVP. Pretty good for a guy who we all thought would just retire. Now that he re-invented and realizing he wan't going to overpower anyone with his fastball anymore I would not mind the yankees resigning him. Even if he were going to give us 15 wins next year I would take that in a hearbeat.
Ryam Howard may just about have MVP awards again. I heard some LA press pushing for Manny for N.L. MVP and I think he will get some votes to. But Howard has been carrying that Phillies team on his back.
I just found out today that the Rays manager was from Hazelton Pa which is about 20 to 30 miles from here where I am at in North East Pa.
Wow, thats pretty cool. But this man has wayyyyy to much time on his hands..lol
rofl I know, there were people outside the stadium asking if they can have our tickets after the game. They said you don't really need them since you were at the game already and the game is over, I said then why do you want them then. They walked away from me..lol
I missed that one. I saw the clown run onto the field in right field as he tripped on his own feet. Where did he think he was going to go with all those police officers there.lol
One thing I want to add, so many were upset that the final game was not against Boston and was against Baltimore instead. People felt it opened with Boston and should close with Boston. I thought the same thing to. But my wife brought up the fact last night that you would have had alot more Boston fans trying to snap up those tickets and would have had 50%-50% to 60%-40%. There are not anywhere near as many fans of Baltimore so it was probably 95% or slightly above that Yankee fans. I only saw 2 people in all the walking around I did with Baltimore jerseys on.
lol Yea, we were wondering what happened. You had that pause and then he came out onto the field..
One thing I was surprised at was The Babes daughter being there. She went to the stadium earlier this year and said this will be the final time I am here as I am to old to travel. She was moving to Arizona I believe.
It is amazing how much Micky Mantles son looks like he does.
People didn't want to leave at all. About 15 minutes after the game people started leaving their seats. Alot of people were still in the stands though and the team was out on the field.
When Bernie was announced the place went nuts. He was never givin the chance to have a proper sendoff for what he did for the team. Finally last night he got that chance.
It was great last night at the stadium. What a amazing time. We got there early to. We got there about 5:20. It is something I will definitly remember as long as I live. I would have never givin up those tickets for anything in the world.
I think Toronto eliminated themselves from the way they played in Aril may and june and July. They have played much better ball and show they could really be a force next year.
Manny and the Dodgers are as hot as the D-Backs are cold. I can't believe how the D-Backs have fallen apart.
I completly agree with You and Susie, I know a couple years ago we took our son to see his 1st game and it was rained out but it was torrential downpours. No way that game was being played and it was hours before the game was called. It was old timers day. No game, they just announced the players that were there and they lined up on the base line.
I have not always disliked Manny. It didn't even start when he was becoming a Yankee killer. It started when he starting acting better than the game. I would not want him on the yankees because I always felt that a person like that is just a cancer to the team. Despite his antics Boston was winning and he was a huge part of that. I liked him when he was with the Indians and I liked him when he 1st went to Boston.
It is great for baseball. They were left for dead. Wondering if they can be the Rockies of last year. Come out of nowhere. The GM is looking real good and I am sure feeling good about himself. You have to go in with the attitude that you are going to win and they have.
