Patience Grasshopper, the dust has hardly settled from QMCs' last outing. It's a bit much to think we'd get daily or weekly updates. Not a doctor here but I doubt they'd feel that introducing a known carcinogen into the body would be a prudent idea, except perhaps as a last resort, as-in chemotherapy. CdQD's are widely used in research due to their high energy-conversion efficiency potential, whereas that doesn't appear to be of as much concern in biomed in vitro apps. But fortunately, Cd is by-no-means the only compound QD's can be derived from. We've heard of all sorts of QD component formulations...everything from coal to worm-poop. But from what I've observed, there might-well be a lot to be said for using a widely accepted non-toxic biomed compound called 'gold'... AuQD's has a nice ring to it, don't you think ;) That might be a consideration but they have plenty more non-toxics to pick from as well.
Ted...I believe the consultant's are referring to an additional 3yr RoHS extension. As I recall, these consultant's were enlisted to conduct a technical evaluation as a 3rd-party advisor to help resolve the opposing viewpoints for the RoHS administrators...& it appears that this is the result. RoHS will now likely take it under advisement & render a final decisions at some point. https://chemicalwatch.com/47844/consultation-recommends-cadmium-quantum-dot-rohs-exemptions

So, over the last month, QMCs' direct involvement w/ Kisco (at DisplayWeek & otherwise)...&/or...Steves' recent mtg in China w/ GTG & other hi-profile parties in association w/ an enormous Chinese QDot research fund...&/or...Kinnerees findings substantiating the incorporation of QMC-Asia aren't to be considered "newsworthy" ? And here I was thinking that those were some of the most meaningful & significant findings & happenings since this whole enterprise started years ago , silly me...thx for straightening me out on that.
Stay-focused !
EVL...could you provide the link to that interesting tidbit, the only thing I can find on that mentions 3M. If QMC has a hand in that, this could get interesting, especially since Nitto is winning a Display Week award for it. I borrowed this data from a friend of mine:
The Display Industry Award winners are…
The Society for Information Display (SID) revealed the winners of the 21st annual Display Industry Awards, which will be presented Wednesday, May 25. The special awards luncheon is a much-anticipated part of Display Week, to be held this year at San Francisco's Moscone Center, May 22-27.
Display Components of the Year: Granted for novel components that have significantly enhanced a display's performance. A component may be sold as a separate part slated for incorporation into a display. It may also include display-enhancing materials and/or parts fabricated with new processes.
Nitto Denko ultra-thin polarizer
Nitto's ultra-thin polarizer possesses high optical properties and exhibits low shrinkage. Polarizing films are optical films consisting of a polarizer and protection films. Because the film determines the optical properties, it's one of a display's most important components.
However, the stretching process involved in manufacturing the polarizer can create problems later on with shrinkage, which can lead to panel bending, display distortion and dimensional variance. Nitto tackled this problem by developing this new polarizer, which, at 5 microns,
is about 80 percent thinner than standard polarizers made from polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) film, yet exhibits comparable optical properties. It has low shrinkage force, rarely causes display distortion and 60 percent less dimensional variance after heating.

Good-one QDawg...this is consistent with previous dialog we've had about the potential of using QDots as an ancillary enhancement to Si solar...potentially very lucrative if widespread adoption into existing Si solar tech were to take place. This could well-be the first method of bringing QDots into the nearterm solar marketplace on a large scale , as opposed to waiting for QD-solar to stand on its own. The R2R compatibility is of interest as well.
