Stay safe. Smile pretty. Watch your back.
Thank you for talking down to me like I'm a congenital idiot because I'm not down on my knees in front of tRump like his worshippers.
Come up for air once in a while and try to see why lots and lots of people hate him.
Trump is nothing but trouble and only about himself.
Vote however you want.
They all suck.
Happy New Year.
Rudy Giuliani's life is in ruins thanks to the work he did on Trump's behalf after the 2020 election.
Has anyone heard a peep out of Trump? I haven't.
This is how he supports the people who supported him.
IMO, no one in their right mind would go to work for him if he's elected.
He loves his sycophants, but he cannot take constructive criticism nor
does he reward loyalty.
There's no one to vote for.
Haley obviously knows nothing about this country if she doesn't know the Civil War was fought over slavery.
DeSantis is a putz.
The rest of the field is even more worthless.
There's no way in hell I'd vote for a demorrhoid and the socialist agenda.

Stupid bitch: Nikki Haley Under Fire for Not Saying Civil War Fought over Slavery
PAUL BOIS 28 Dec 2023 2:09
(That settles it. I won't be voting for any of the presidential candidates in the primary -- just the folks running for other offices.
Pass the nose plugs come November. I can't stand it.)
Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley has come under fire for issuing a word-salad response when asked in New Hampshire on Wednesday why America fought in the Civil War, refusing to say the word “slavery.”
The moment came during a campaign event in the Granite State when someone in the crowd asked Haley what caused the Civil War. The presidential candidate seemed somewhat puzzled by the question to the point of calling the answer difficult.
“I mean, I think the cause of the Civil War was basically how government was going to run. The freedoms and what people could and couldn’t do,” Haley said.
When Haley asked the voter what he thought had sparked the Civil War, the voter said, “I’m not running for president.”
“I think it always comes down to the role of government and what the rights of the people are,” Haley added. “I will always stand by the fact that I think government was intended to secure the rights and freedoms of the people. It was never meant to be all things to all people,” she said.
The voter seemed somewhat perturbed by the answer and shot back, “In the year 2023, it’s astonishing to me that you answer that question without mentioning the word slavery.”
“What do you want me to say about slavery?” Haley retorted:
While the Civil War had a multitude of respective causes and events leading up to the fateful confrontation, most reputable historians are generally in agreement that slavery was the primary cause of the Civil War, as the South had sought to expand the practice into neighboring states, while the North wanted it kept localized. Watch David Blight’s multi-course Yale lecture series Civil War and Reconstruction for an in-depth analysis.
Haley’s words sparked severe condemnation on social media from both Democrats and Republicans:

Hiya, Mr. G. Melania is setting a good example for the nation.
The NY Post layout of the two stories (Melania missing & Melania with her mother) showed their anti-Trump bias. When I found them, the missing-from-the-picture piece was the lead story -- top and center on the cyber page with a big picture. When I went back to the front page and started skimming down, I found the piece on her taking care of her mother buried in the page.
Do these journalista types think no one's on to what they're doing?
Enjoy your evening and be glad we are not shoveling.
It is very, very wet out there.
Why Melania Trump was absent from family Christmas card
By Francesca Bacardi Published Dec. 27, 2023, 1:07 p.m. ET
Melania Trump was absent from her family’s festive Christmas card because she’s been taking care of her ailing mother, Page Six has learned.
A source close to the Trumps tells us that the former first lady’s mom, Amalija Knavs, has been very sick in the hospital and Melania was by her side instead of at the party where the image was snapped.
“Melania has always been very devoted to her entire family,” a source close to Melania Trump elaborated to Fox News Digital.
“It should be no surprise that she spent this Christmas with her ailing mother.”
A rep for the Trump family didn’t immediately return Page Six’s request for comment.
Donald Trump Jr.’s fiancée, Kimberly Guilfoyle, shared the image in question, which was taken at former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Fla., to her Instagram Story Tuesday.
Looking all grown up, 17-year-old Barron can be seen towering in front of the Christmas tree and behind his father.
Earlier this week, Page Six exclusively reported that Melania, 53, would be increasing her public appearances to support her 77-year-old husband, who aims to be re-elected as president.
“Trump and his family are so secure that he will become president again that insiders at Mar-a-Lago say he’s reached an agreement with Melania to step up top-tier diplomatic appearances in 2024,” a source told us.
“Melania realizes it’s her time to join the ranks of historic first ladies and leave her mark on history … She feels better prepared for her potential role the second time around,” our source added, noting that Donald’s immediate family are “solidly behind” his bid for the Oval Office.
Melania recently made an appearance at Rosalynn Carter’s funeral as well as at a citizens’ naturalization ceremony at the National Archives.

Melania Trump missing from festive family Christmas photo at Mar-a-Lago

Former first lady Melania Trump was missing from a Trump family Christmas photo.

The Trumps posed for a festive family Christmas photo — but noticeably missing was Melania Trump.
Kimberly Guilfoyle, the fiancée of Donald Trump Jr., shared the portrait on her Instagram Story Tuesday, and while a very-grown-up Barron Trump stole the show, the former first lady was nowhere to be found.
Snapped at Mar-a-Lago, the image features Trump Jr., former President Donald Trump, Guilfoyle, Barron, Ivanka Trump, husband Jared Kushner and their kids, Tiffany Trump and husband Michael Boulos.
Barron, 17, can be seen towering in front of the Christmas tree and behind his father.
A Trump spokesperson said Melania, 53, was tending to a family matter.
Page Six exclusively reported on Christmas that Melania actually plans to step up her public appearances in support of her husband’s bid to be re-elected president in 2024.
“Trump and his family are so secure that he will become president again that insiders at Mar-a-Lago say he’s reached an agreement with [wife] Melania [Trump] to step up top-tier diplomatic appearances in 2024,” a source told us.
The Trump insider explained that after Melania recently appeared with fellow former first ladies at Rosalynn Carter’s funeral, she is “feeling more sure of herself — as both her husband’s representative and her own position as a diplomatic figure after her positive reception at the Carter funeral.”
Melania also appeared at a citizens’ naturalization ceremony at the National Archives.
“Melania realizes it’s her time to join the ranks of historic first ladies and leave her mark on history … She feels better prepared for her potential role the second time around,” our source added, noting that the Donald’s immediate family are “solidly behind” his bid for the Oval Office.
Donald, 77, scored a legal victory last week when the US Supreme Court refused to make a quick decision about whether he has immunity from the federal charges against him over his challenge of the 2020 election results.
The 45th president’s legal team argues the former prez can’t be tried for election challenges — which culminated in the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot — because his actions constituted “official acts.”
He also argued that he should be immune because the Senate already acquitted him after his January 2021 impeachment for allegedly inciting the riot.

Tom Smothers, half of the Smothers Brothers comedy duo, dead at 86
By Danica Daniel Published Dec. 27, 2023, 12:48 p.m. ET
Tom Smothers, the older half of the legendary comedy duo the Smothers Brothers, died on Tuesday. He was 86.
The comedian died “following a recent battle with cancer,” according to a statement from a spokesman for the National Comedy Center.
The late star passed away peacefully at his home in Santa Rosa, Calif., with his family at his side, according to his younger brother and professional partner, Dick Smothers.
“Tom was not only the loving older brother that everyone would want in their life, he was a one-of-a-kind creative partner,” Dick, 84, said in a statement. “I am forever grateful to have spent a lifetime together with him, on and off stage, for over 60 years. Our relationship was like a good marriage – the longer we were together, the more we loved and respected one another. We were truly blessed.”
The Post has reached out to the Smothers’ reps for comment.

The folk-singing brothers became household names as they pioneered the world of political satirical comedy on their CBS variety show “The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour,” which ran from 1967 to 1969. Many believe they created the blueprint for popular television shows like “Saturday Night Live” and “The Daily Show.”
Journey Gunderson, executive director of the National Comedy Center, said in a statement that Tom was “not only an extraordinary comedic talent, who, together with his brother Dick, became the most enduring comedy duo in history, entertaining the world for over six decades — but was a true champion for freedom of speech, harnessing the power of comedy to push boundaries and our political consciousness.”

“Tom was a true pioneer who changed the face of television and transformed our culture with The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour, which satirized politics, combated racism, protested the Vietnam War, and led the way for ‘Saturday Night Live,’ ‘The Daily Show,’ today’s network late night shows, and so much more,” Gunderson, who has helped preserve and showcase the Smothers Brothers career and legacy, continued.
“We were proud to bring Tom and Dick out of retirement and reunite them on stage in 2019 to celebrate their legendary careers, and we are honored to preserve Tom’s remarkable work and legacy here at the National Comedy Center for generations to come.”
Smothers died peacefully at his home in Santa Rosa, Calif., a city in Sonoma County on Tuesday with his family at his side, according to his younger brother and professional partner Dick Smothers.

Laura Lynch, Founding Member of The Dixie Chicks, Dies at 65
JEROME HUDSON 23 Dec 2023 1:57
Laura Lynch, who helped found The Dixie Chicks (now The Chicks) in 1989, alongside sisters Martie Maguire and Emily Strayer, was killed in a head-on car crash in West Texas on Friday evening.
Lynch’s cousin, Michael Lynch, confirmed her passing. The Texas Department of Public Safety later released details of the crash and confirmed Lynch’s death.
The Chicks released a statement honoring Lynch, a longtime bass player in the group, and her early work that led to the band’s superstardom.
“We are shocked and saddened to learn of the passing of Laura Lynch, a founding member of The Chicks. We hold a special place in our hearts for the time we spent playing music, laughing and traveling together. Laura was a bright light…her infectious energy and humor gave a spark to the early days of our band,” the band said.
“Laura had a gift for design, a love of all things Texas and was instrumental in the early success of the band. Her undeniable talents helped propel us beyond busking on street corners to stages all across Texas and the mid-West.Our thoughts are with her family and loved ones at this sad time—Emily, Martie & Natalie.”
The band’s name was changed to “The Chicks” in the summer of 2020, shortly after the death of George Floyd.

"Ramaswamy threatens 'reinstate Trump or..."
Some threat.
Methinks the young presidential wannabe is bucking for VP on a Trump ticket.
At this point, he does not stand a snowball's chance in hell of winning any primaries.
What a mess.
Thanks. I'm going to have to look up how the process works if the election goes to the House.
I thought each state would get one vote and that they'd pick from the candidates on the ballot.
Forgive me because I've lost my stomach for politics, so I haven't been paying strict attention to details.
Why do you think Matt Gaetz will be elected president if the election goes to the House of Representatives?
Thanks.
Ay-yi-yi. All I can hope for is that his merry band* of "Neanderthals" (your word) do NOT listen to him or follow orders on the election boycott idea.
There is NO ONE to vote for in 2028. Even nose plugs won't help. JMO
Sad, sad state of affairs.
Fare thee well, DD.
*Is band considered singular or plural in this case?
Should it be merry band of "Neanderthals" (your word) does NOT... ?

Good Sabbath Morning to ya, La Cima.
Good to see you where the action is.

Why I am running against Ilhan Omar: America as we know it will cease to exist
By Dalia al-Aqidi Published Dec. 16, 2023, 12:00 p.m. ET
(A sane true American. I wish her luck.)
Iraqi-born journalist Dalia al-Aqidi is challenging Ilhan Omar for her Minnesota Congressional seat.
Courtesy of Dalia al-Aqidi
I was a young journalist when I immigrated to the U.S. in 1993.
Growing up in Saddam Hussein’s Iraq, the idea that I would one day run for office in America never occurred to me.
But I took my oath of U.S. citizenship seriously, which also meant becoming part of America’s rich cultural fabric and giving back to the country I am lucky to call home.
I moved to Minneapolis from Washington, DC in 2019 and I fell in love with the Twin Cities.
You would be hard-pressed to find more open, friendly, and hopeful people.
And yet, most Minnesotans would tell you that Minneapolis was in decline long before the COVID-19 lockdown and the George Floyd riots that engulfed the city in 2020.
Those lockdowns and riots peeled back the curtain on many of the dark forces at play within America.
Suddenly Hollywood, the financial sector, and academia were tripping over themselves to promote social justice causes like Black Lives Matter, an outwardly Marxist and antisemitic organization.
Those who resisted were condemned as racist.
All lives didn’t matter as vogueish fads like identity and intersectionality – rather than intelligence or intent – were suddenly all that really mattered.
Few proved better at harnessing these grievances than my congresswoman, Ilhan Omar, a Black, female, Muslim, immigrant—the Holy Grail of intersectionality.
As our city burned in the aftermath of George Floyd, she led the charges to defund the police, which she saw as the pathway to justice for those she considered “oppressors.”
I should point out that I have the same intersectional resume as Omar except I am an Arab, while she considers herself “brown.”
But that is not the only key difference between us: Whereas Omar speaks out against core American values, I love America and see identity politics as a toxic effort at tearing our country apart.
When I announced my decision to run as a Republican against Ilhan Omar for Minnesota’s Fifth Congressional District, my focus was squarely on kitchen table issues: the economy, crime, and education.
My thinking was clear and necessary: Rather than legislate effectively, Omar has been more like an absentee landlord who fails to represent the needs of her district.
Put simply: We deserve better.
Omar has also been remarkably ineffective.
Most legislation she sponsors is designed to kneecap our long-time allies.
Meanwhile, she’s often the lone congressional voice backing despots like Hamas-supporting Turkish tyrant Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Last year, Hamas-hosting Qatar paid for Omar’s trip to the World Cup in Doha where she continues her cozy relationship with that duplicitous regime.
She’s consistently worked to provide Iran a free hand in its pursuit of nuclear weapons.
Meanwhile, Omar may take pride in her attempts to address the opioid crisis but she still voted against the Secure the Border Act that would keep drugs off of our streets.
She’s called on Biden to declare a “climate emergency,” which would authorize the president to bypass Congress to install the financially reckless Green New Deal.
She seeks to fundamentally transform America at home—using Minneapolis as the nation’s crash test dummy.
Put simply once again: We deserve better.
In recent weeks I’ve come to see my campaign not just as a vehicle for promoting Minnesota, but as an essential effort to protect the American dream from regressive cultural forces.
This shift resulted from the Hamas-led massacre against Israel on October 7th.
Before Israel had even finished burying its dead, there were pro-Hamas demonstrations in cities across America.
It is unfathomable that 12 hours after George Floyd died, hundreds would gather to wave confederate flags and scream “White lives matter.”
So unfathomable that It didn’t happen.
Yet, those who find racism lurking under every stone have made one excuse after another to call for the destruction of Israel.
I attended the solidarity rally for the Jewish people held in our district a few days after the attack by Hamas.
Then I flew to Israel to show our support in person.
Omar not only skipped the solidarity rally but while I toured burned and blood-soaked communities near Gaza, she voted against the U.S. House resolution condemning Hamas for its atrocities.
That’s when I realized the evil genius of Ilhan Omar.
The Palestinian nationalist movement she so loudly champions touts the same type of intersectional orthodoxy Omar has long believed.
In this rewriting of history, Jews are white colonialists and oppressors – Palestinians are blameless victims exiled from a land they relentlessly call their own.
It’s all connected and all must end.
Back in 2020, police officers were seen as oppressors and the only progressive solution was to dismantle their forces.
And so their ranks were reduced and guess what: After declining in 2018 and 2019, violent crime surged in Minneapolis in 2020 and 2021 – by nearly 20%.
Similar illogical thinking propels progressives like Ilhan Omar in their quest to denounce American values and replace them with extremism and discord.
I’ve witnessed unspeakable horrors in my decades of reporting on and from the Middle East.
But never have I seen such a full-throttle embrace of a noxious belief system that justifies barbaric acts of savagery.
And Omar is this system’s chief cheerleader.
I’m running for Congress because if we don’t confront and dismantle this way of thinking, America as we know it will cease to exist.
Dalia al-Aqidi is the Executive Director of the American Center for Counter Extremism and Republican Candidate in Minnesota’s Fifth Congressional District.

Michelle Wu’s segregated Christmas party exposes the left’s regressive views on race
By Post Editorial Board Published Dec. 14, 2023 Updated Dec. 15, 2023, 7:24 a.m. ET
If you’re throwing a party that Gov. George Wallace would approve of, you might want to think twice.
On Thursday, Boston Mayor Michelle Wu defended her decision to host an “Electeds of Color Holiday Party,” excluding the City Council’s seven white members.
The race-based soirée came to light because an aide accidentally sent an invitation to every member, then awkwardly had to do some fast dis-inviting.
The mayor bizarrely explained: “It is my intention that we can, again, be a city that lives our values and create space for all kinds of communities to come together.”
Gee, Michelle: Judging people by their skin color simply to share some egg nog sure seems like a step away from that vision.
But hey, she’s a progressive, which these days means embracing some deeply regressive views, where being “anti-racist” means obsessing about race, and to heck with all that “content of our character” talk the civil-rights movement stood for.

Naturally, this left-driven segregation is booming in academia, not least with separate “black graduations” at colleges (including Harvard and UC-Berkeley) that exclude students of other races.
An off-campus housing coop at Berkeley last year set up a “Person of Color Theme House,” which banned white people from entering common spaces and forced students to note their race when signing in and announce any white guests visiting.
This year, NYU hosted an anti-racism workshop — for only white public-school parents, supposedly to prevent “harm” to non-whites from hearing the “racist thoughts” of white people.
In 2020, a University of Virginia student threw a fit over whites using the campus multicultural center, claiming “frankly there’s just too many white people in here and this a space for people of color.”
And it’s sinking into public education: In Illinois, Evanston Township offers high-school math and English courses exclusively for black and Latino students.
The old “separate but equal” crowd claimed it served the cause of social peace; the new one argues it serves social justice — but it’s based on reducing people to their skin color, either way.
Americans are free to do as they like in their own private spaces, but this thinking is beyond toxic and has no place in any public institution: Right or left, it’s every bit as unconstitutional.

Turkish MP Dies After Having Heart Attack During ‘Wrath of Allah’ Tirade
JOHN HAYWARD 14 Dec 2023 2:20
(Pity... apparently the wrath of God is stronger than the wrath of allah.)
Turkish lawmaker Hasan Bitmez of the hardline Islamist Saadet Party (SP) died in the hospital on Thursday, two days after he collapsed during a fiery tirade against Israel at the Turkish National Assembly.
Bitmez, 54, collapsed at the climax of a 22-minute speech on Tuesday in which he criticized the government of Islamist President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his AKP Party for not taking a strong enough stance against Israel in the Gaza war.
He was especially critical of Erdogan for “shamelessly” maintaining trade with Israel. He reportedly suffered a heart attack.
“You are Israel’s accomplice,” Bitmez railed at Erdogan, draping the speaker’s podium with a banner that read, “Murderer Israel, Collaborator AKP.”
“You have the blood of Palestinians on your hands, you are collaborators. You contribute to every bomb Israel drops on Gaza,” he raged at AKP legislators, who responded by thumping their desks and shouting back at him.
Bitmez reportedly shouted to Israel, “you will not escape the wrath of Allah!”
The parliament was reportedly debating the national budget at the time of his remarks. It is not clear from Turkish media reports if Bitmez’s anti-Israel attack was germane to the budgetary considerations at hand.
Bitmez was quickly assisted by other members of parliament, one of whom had medical training, and taken to a hospital in Ankara.
According to Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca, Bitmez was treated with a prolonged heart massage and received angioplasty at the hospital, after doctors saw two of his main arteries were completely blocked. He was connected to an artificial lung and a heart device, but these methods were only able to keep him alive until 11:50 p.m. local time on Thursday.
Turkey’s Hurriyet Daily News quoted local media reports that Bitmez suffered from diabetes and had previously been treated with two stents in his heart.
“A graduate of Cairo’s Al Azhar University, Bitmez was the chairman of the Center for Islamic Union Research and had previously worked for Islamic non-governmental organizations, his parliament biography shows. He was married and a father of one,” Reuters added.

Jill's Fruitcake Video: Jill Biden Releases Widely Ridiculed White House Holiday Video
JOHN NOLTE 14 Dec 2023 3:26
(Mon Dieu! Get these Obama-nations OUT of the White House. How low can you go?
Videos, pictures, and Xweets at the link below.)
With her holiday video, the Reverend/Doctor/First Lady Jill Biden has focused on the “ass” in “class” and delivered a nightmare of smug.
Because I’m an overpaid professional, I had to watch the whole thing. Trust me, you don’t have to, and I promise the video does not improve as it goes along. I would sum it up this way: It’s like someone slipped LSD into David Lynch’s Christmas punch, locked him in the Overlook Hotel, and removed his talent.
Warning: This never ends. It never ever ends. The timer on the video says it’s only 144 seconds long. That’s a lie. It never ends. No matter how much you beg, it goes on and on…
“A bit of magic, wonder, and joy brought to you by the talented tappers of Dorrance Dance, performing their playful interpretation of The Nutcracker Suite. Enjoy!” writes the Reverend-Doctor Jill Biden.
“Oh, dear God in Heaven, I miss those mean tweets,” writes Normal America.
Everything about that video is gross, including the use of our tax dollars. Oh, I’m sure we’ll be told there’s some White House Holiday Fund for private donors looking to wash their sex-trafficking money, but it’s still gross, especially the performances. The dancers (a term I’m using somewhat irresponsibly) are not celebrating the season. They are celebrating themselves.
Look at the smug all over the faces of those marginally talented dancers. They are so PROUD of themselves. They’re not looking to humbly share the joy of the season or even their art, like an Astaire or Kelly or Bojangles would. It’s all about their self-satisfied superiority.
But that shouldn’t be at all surprising when you consider what Dorrance Dance represents.
“For those who are investigating or have questions about white privilege, systemic racism, white fragility, and anti-racism for the very first time,” the Dorrance Dance website helpfully instructs, “antiracismforbeginners.com answers all the basic questions in a very straightforward way.”
There are also links to critically acclaimed “anti-racism” books and movies, most of which would not be critically acclaimed without a white-guilt thumb on the scale of affirmative action — you know, like the Dorrance Dance troupe itself.
Hey, I’m just saying what y’all are thinking..

Memory Lane: (Forgive me, if I've already told this story.)
Back in my UofMichigan days ('69-'73), our first game of the season was always against Navy. The midshipmen were bussed in from Annapolis in time for the kickof. We always beat them by a large margin. After the game, the cadets were allowed to do whatever they wanted in town. The only restriction was they had to be back on the bus at midnight in full uniform for the ride home. These guys hadn't been allowed near women or to have fun in weeks. They were ready to party.
Although this was at the height of the anti-war protests, the home crowd was congenial and in the mood to show the gentlemen a good time. My junior year, there was a party in the back of our apartment building. Lots of drinking and dancing. Pure fun. Before we knew it, the clock approached the witching hour. The guys were getting ready to head to the bus when panic broke out. One of the men was missing. EEK! There was a huge scramble to find him. We did. He was passed out in the dumpster. His buddies got him out and carried him away. After they left, we found his tie and another piece of his uniform. He may not have been fully dressed, but at least he got back to the bus by the deadline.
Good times.
My dad was USA.
My favorite old flame was in the Navy.
My long-time iHub buddy is a Marine.
Decisions. Decisions.
Sitting here with ESPN's College GameDay blathering in the background.
They seem to be on Navy's side with Lee Corso leading the pack.
You may be a house divided this morning, but I'm sure at the end of the game
your two houses will be a respectful one once again.
Have fun and GO TEAM.
lol Thanks for the clarification, Homebrew.
I was feeling like I had truly reached "old and in the way" status.
Have a good one.
P.S. I didn't know iHub had email notifications.
Just lucky, I guess.
