Today could be a pivotal day for the DJIA. We're right on the upper Bollinger Band. A break to the upside would be nice. For some reason, however, I'm feeling the potential for upward movement has a lot of pressure holding it back. Time to check out some of the "before the bell" PRs. Back in a few. . .

Hello! Anyone home? eom
M&M Man
Well, we're at two cents. The breakaway date for release of the 2003 models shouldn't be far off. Does anyone know if there were any 2002 models sold? If not, what was the latest model for the PSVs and SUVs that Laforza built? Also, does anyone know if the standard Laforza army vehicles that are produced overseas. . .have a stock issue in Italy or another country where that is publicly traded? Or is it a private company? Please advise.

My Home:
Jan. Existing Home Sales Set Record
By JEANNINE AVERSA
.c The Associated Press
WASHINGTON (AP) - Motivated by low mortgage rates and increasing confidence in the economy, Americans drove up sales of previously owned homes to a monthly record in January.
The National Association of Realtors reported Monday that existing homes sold last month at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 6.04 million, a whopping 16.2 percent increase over the previous month.
The level of homes sold surpassed the previous monthly record rate of 5.49 million set in August 2001. The 16.2 percent record jump in sales exceeded the previous all-time monthly gain in May 1995.
The strong housing report comes even as the rest of the national economy is trying to pull out of a recession that began in March.
Analysts cited these factors: low mortgage rates; mild house-hunting weather; and solid appreciation in housing values, which makes buying a home a good investment especially when the stock market is unstable.
Consumer confidence - which was shaken by the Sept. 11 terror attacks - also has improved, another factor in people feeling more inclined to make a big-ticket purchase.
``We've had favorable housing affordability conditions for some time, but what's new is the effect of a gradual increase in consumer confidence combined with a turnaround in the economy,'' said David Lereah, chief economist for the real estate group.
On Wall Street, stocks moved higher. The Dow Jones industrial average gained 113 points and the Nasdaq was up 25 in morning trading. An upbeat outlook from General Motors and a ratings upgrade of Sun Microsystems gave investors a shot of enthusiasm.
The housing market has managed to remain solid throughout the economic slump, in large part because of low mortgage rates.
Rates on 30-year mortgages hit a low of 6.45 percent in early November, the lowest point since Freddie Mac began conducting its nationwide survey in 1971.
While rates have moved higher since that time, analysts say that rates this year will be fairly stable, remaining close to the record lows set last year and will continue to support the housing market.
In January, the average rate on a 30-year fixed-rate mortgage was 7 percent, down from 7.07 percent in December and lower than 7.03 percent in January a year ago.
Although existing-home sales dipped by 1 percent in December, sales set a record of 5.25 million for all of 2001, prompting economists to marvel at the industry's resilience even as the national economy was mired in recession.
For Americans who opted to buy a home last year, the benefit of low mortgage rates outweighed other negative factors, including a weak labor market.
By region, sales of existing homes surged 23.3 percent in the West to a rate of 1.64 million. In the Northeast, sales jumped 16.4 percent to a rate of 710,000 and in the South, they rose by 16.1 percent to a rate of 2.38 million. In the Midwest, sales were up 8.3 percent to a rate of 1.31 million.
The rise in existing-home sales lifted home prices. The median sales prices - meaning half sold for more and half for less- was $151,100 in January, a 10.2 percent increase from the same month a year ago.
The Federal Reserve slashed short-term interest rates 11 times last years in an effort to revive the economy. The Fed, citing signs of a recovery, opted last month to keep interest rates unchanged. Many economists believe the Fed's aggressive credit easing will pave the way for a rebound in the second half of this year.
If the rebound turns out to be a lot stronger than many are anticipating, the Fed could begin raising interest rates later this year, a move that indirectly might prompt long-term mortgage rates to rise. Still, most economists are expecting mortgage rates to hover in the 7 percent range for most of this year.

Up over 70K dollars in appreciation in less than 18 months. When I purchased my home. . .it was listed at 200K and wouldn't sell. I negotiated a purchased at 153,900. After I purchased my home, more and more homes in my area began selling like hotcakes. I got the prime home on the prime property! Now. . .it is valued at 1/4 million dollars+. Realestate is the place to be in this market. And it appears valuation will only be going up!
Market bubble on housing taking place! Be forewarned. Purchase a home in this market. . .and when interest rates begin to rise, the value of your home will go DOWN. Then you may end up owing more than your home is worth! Think about it.

I'm thinking KM might be the stock to watch. Did anyone notice their 30-second spot in the coverage of the closing of the Olympics? KM is making a move. I believe they will announce which stores they will be closing on March 11th. Please correct me if I'm wrong. At any rate, the "re-focus" KM is taking could do wonders for their share-price. Retails sales are steady. . .and headed up. This could be a turning point for our economy. More and more people are focusing more on going back to work. . .and making money along with building their resumes. This in turn is bringing back many bright people to the labor industry. This could be an "awakening" for companies that are looking to hire talent that has been side-lined secondary to the "wealth effect." We get that talent back in the labor pool and that will do wonders fo turn the economy around. . .in and of itself.

The charts on the .dji are looking promising:
http://host.wallstreetcity.com/wsc2/Chart.html?Symbol=.DJI&Timespan=260
It's just a matter of "if" the market can pull through with a frenzy on "buying." Investors appear fatigued at the ups and downs, as of late. Big money is skeptical of accounting practices . . .and even "good news" is "no news" in this market environment. Lets see if the recent breaking of the 10,000 milestone will survive. One more accounting concern and we might bounce off of that upper Bollinger Band and shoot downward. Then again. . .we break the upper Bollinger Band on a strong economic report (or even mediocre) and 11,000 shouldn't be far off. Analysts appear split on the possibilities. That means. . .confusion. I don't think a bull move in the Dow will do much for the small caps. But it might do something to spur investor confidence!

LFZA @ 2 cents. That appears to be the ceiling until they get off the pinks. We either have a "Tucker" here or we have an iconoclastic blockbuster. There appears to be no "in-between" on this one. Any more, who knows? But at two cents. . .with a viable product that is saleable. . .it's difficult to see how the revenues can't churn something up in the next few months. The fourth quarter reports for LFZA should be very interesting. I just wonder how the product will sell in Mexico (one of the poorest countries in the world. . .selling one of the most expensive vehicle lines. ..in the world)? I hate to think about the savory flavor of individual in Mexico that might turn out being the purchasing agents for LFZA. I still think Hollywood might be a better target.

Joe. . .I've been reading through your dialogue with John. It appears to me that you may not understand what Laforza is doing. They are providing a "Private Security Vehicle" to the tune of Lamborghini. . .in the SUV world. They are NOT going to be a Range Rover, a pickup truck. . .or a standard SUV. They may have some standard models, but they do not intend on taking over the SUV world. Nor does Lamborghini.
We're looking at a small company that will support a niche in the marketplace that nobody else caters towards. The bigger companies don't have the focus, and the smaller companies don't have the cash to compete. That is where LFZA's challenge will come in.
You mention that you do not know what LFZA is good for. Well, try taking your 50 thousand dollar Land Rover up in the mountains in-bween some large branches. . .or even a Ford Explorer, or anything Chevy has to offer. Tell me what happens to your quarter panels, your paint job. . .and your running boards. Then, have LFZA go up against the same trees. You may see paint damage, but you will not see the structural damage you would see with a standard SUV. The PSV aims at an even deadlier niche. . .bullets. In tomorrow's society we will never know how many more psychos will be out there with guns. . .shooting at automobile drivers as they go down the streets. When you are a movie-star. . .or a corporate executive. . .or anyone involved with the law, you tend to think in terms of "protection" when you go out amongst the masses. Laforza offers a solution for the roads. . .with their vehicles. And the price-range of their vehicles is placed in such a way as to attract only a specific income level.
At any rate, I like what LFZA has to provide. I also like the looks of their vehicles. Right now, I drive a Ford Explorer Limited. It has too many buttons and switches. WAY too many. It looks as fancy as a space machine. . .internally, and externally. . .but when I want to find a switch for something (like the on-off switch for the heater or the a/c or the stereo!) it's like digging through a roadmap! LFZA makes all of their designed models "simple" so that accessories can be easiy accessed at the same time the driver eases down the road. This is a very important feature in which I hope LFZA never loses sight.
Okay. . .there are differing opinions amongst individuals on what they may see as "good" and "bad" in the SUV market. The important thing for PSV lookers is to look into LFZA. A Hummer is fine. . .but to tell you the truth, I think they are the ugliest thing on the road. If one can have the quality of Lamborghini with the performance of a Hummer, why would they own a Hummer? Again. . .just based on a person's perspective, I suppose.
Good luck to LFZA.
Peace,
M&M Man
EZ. . .I've got my magic yo-yo out. . .and it's going to predict the next direction of the market. What a WEIRD market!!! I get fatigued just by watching LOL. This market needs an edema!

HAL continues to do well in this market. Man, it would have been nice to have sunk everything into this one when it was selling off for no apparent reason (or analysts were shorting to shake out investors. . .??). Watch SMTC for a bottom during this latest tech turnaround. I don't know what's going on with DVNT. I guess the same thing as is going on with HRCT. Investors are just tired of dealing with the tech stocks. Just owning one can lead to an Rx of Prozac. It's going to take a BIG Bandaid for investors to get over what has happened in the past 5 years. Start low. . .get to RECORD highs with no apparent rationale. . .go back down LOWER to where one came from (unless you were smart and sold everything during the bubble). Very educational, indeed. Unfortunately, I don't believe we'll ever see it happen again in our lifetimes . . .a "bubble" that is. Back to basics! God, it seems like George W. Bush has been President, forever LOL!

Arch,
I think she's going to realize what happened when she is about 25 or 30 years old. At any rate, the gods were with her on that ice. She had it all going for her. Her feel for the ice had to be similar to a professional skiers feel for an edge on snow. Every corner and every edge had the "asthetic appeal" of a master skater. Her charismatic poise also brought the energy in from the crowd. What an "uplifting" thing to watch and shove in the face of past events. Indeed, America is moving forward with a "record" number of medals in the Olympics. I love watching this happen and I hope we piss the terrorists off even more. We can bring them out of their holes so we can bring them to an end.
No sense dimming a great thing. Cherish the moment. It will take another four years before anyone will have the chance to take that little gals moment away. I hope she benefits well from her portrayal of excellence!
Peace. . .

Arch. . .Did you see her skate?!! The story was incredible. Her father had made an ice-skating rink in her backyard. Did you watch the video where she made the statement (when she was 4 or 5 years old) that she was going to win an Olympic gold medal? It was absolutely incredible to see it all come together. Good for her! And America.

Reports Say Recession May Be Over
By MARTIN CRUTSINGER
.c The Associated Press
WASHINGTON (Feb. 22) - The recession, shaping up as one of the shortest and mildest on record, could already be over, private economists say.
The National Association for Business Economics said that 60 percent of the economists on its forecasting panel believe the economy has turned the corner and is growing again. Only two of the 37 forecasters said they believe the downturn will linger into the spring.
``America's longest expansion in history has been followed by one of the shortest, shallowest recessions on record,'' said NABE President Harvey Rosenblum, director of economic research at the Dallas Federal Reserve bank.
The NABE's newest forecast put economic growth at 1.5 percent for this year and an even stronger 3.8 percent in 2003.
The Conference Board reported Thursday that its Index of Leading Economic Indicators, a key gauge of future activity, shot up 0.6 percent in January, its fourth consecutive monthly increase.
``The strong signal from the indicators is that the recession is ending and that the recovery could be more vigorous than earlier anticipated,'' said Ken Goldstein, a senior economist with the New York-based industry group that issues the index.
The financial markets were not impressed, however, by the new signs of an economic rebound. The Dow Jones industrial average closed down 106.49 at 9,834.68.
While the leading index was flashing signals of a rebound, another report Thursday showed that that last year's slowdown may not have been as severe as first believed.
The Commerce Department reported that the nation's trade deficit narrowed by 11.4 percent in December to $25.3 billion, its best showing since September.
This unexpectedly large improvement sent economists scurrying to upwardly revise their estimates for overall economic activity in the fourth quarter. Many said the gross domestic product may have risen by 1 percent in the October-December quarter, based on the stronger trade showing, instead of the originally reported 0.2 percent increase.
Kevin Hassett, an economist at the American Enterprise Institute, said the statistics will show that the recession actually ended in November.
The National Bureau of Economic Research, the official arbiter of when recessions begin and end, has said the downturn began in March, ending a record 10-year stretch of prosperity. The bureau is not expected to issue a ruling on the end of the downturn for several more months.
If current indications hold up and the third quarter, when the GDP fell at a 1.3 percent rate, is the only negative period, the drop in economic output during the recession will be a small 0.3 percent, making this the mildest recession in U.S. history. That record has been held by the 1969-70 recession, which also ended a long expansion, when GDP fell by 0.6 percent.
President Bush's economic brain trust also expressed optimism about a rebounding economy during a roundtable discussion with reporters.

Sarals.. .true, it was great news. However, my understanding is that they can't market the 2003 year vehicles until they are in production. I'm in no hurry so it's nice to see the gameplan being set up prior to production of the vehicles.
Does anyone know when/if we have filed to get off of the pinks? Or is that going to come after production begins to take place (of the 2003 models)? I guess the news about the 4.X million dollar support wagon should hit the streets at some point in March or April. I'm not following the event close enough to be counting the days.
