Thanks Essammee - You're right, the Sunday release is odd, adding fuel to a Monday am fire?
Off topic but important -

About the Rec's why don't you ask here:

I think it would be nice to have them too.
That's what I'm hopin' LOL!
I cited it for the info it contains on Wilmut's more current work. Therapeutic cloning isn't allowed that often in the UK and he got permission.
I don't know - but I don't think Geron's patents are disputed. Maybe we can drag some more knowledgeable posters over from the other board.

Esammee - if you have information you need to post and run out of posts - email it to me and I'll put it up on the board for you.

Please understand that you are also using a an adversarial tone, perhaps both you and Esammee could cool off a bit.
My point was that the company has no problem making international connections when they feel it is appropriate.
Why partner spinal in Singapore or somewhere else when we can do it all here?
Partnering in China means giving a way a piece of the pie, if they don't need to they shouldn't.

OK, I linked back to the original ESI release.
There is nothing in it to suggest that their "product" is anything other than a cell line that researchers can try to develop therapies from... Geron does have this. In addition Geron has a telomerase based reproduction method that will make treatments affordable. Apparently ESI does not have this.
As for the G.B. connection - Roslyn is where dolly the sheep comes from and they own it. One of the researchers there actually got permission from the government to therapeutically clone a cell line for a rare disease - this isn't done very often.
Geron also has a Hong Kong partnership. I think this was done because China is really pushing for an aids cure and there is an advantage to doing the work there.
They will make partnerships abroad where they see fit, no problem.
hasbro - Esammee does know whereof she speaks.
Why does Geron need to go to Singapore to do research? You've totally lost me here.
No individual would ever deny another that they cared for their best chance for decent health care. The argument is - is foreign based health care a vialble alternative for most in this country. The answer is no because they've paid their dues to the system and bought health insurance. Health insurance will not cover the wrong "network" in the same city let alone half way around the globe.
I think you guys are getting overly personal in this agrument. Can you stand back and try to understand the perspective of the other. No one is talking about denying someone the ability to seek overseas care. As I see it the issue is fiscal feasability and how it fits into the current system.
I really don't care. The board is junk as far as I'm concerned.
Right now I don't have much to say that's on topic. Geron is being messed with just like many other worth while stocks.
The whole market is a farce, just as our system of government has become a farce. Our only hope as a nation is for the people to get a clue and take back the power of government in the way that the framers of the Constitution designed it.
Impeachment would be just a start.
As for Yahoo, I've been rather in their face about restoring PaulaGem. I've told them if they don't I'll be recommending other boards. After all, if the site has no integrity, what good is it?
and as revenge, it found a way to boot paulagem2.
I really think yahoo is a crock for not getting to the real cause of this mess and doing something about it.
It looks like they've chosen between diabetes and heart for the next application to be devloped after spinal.
My prior post was poorly worded. I was referring to the comma delimited files that used to be available for free download, now you only get them with an expensive subscription.
Bottom line - current short interest data is diluted by a factor of 12 and you have to have access to the prior 11 to evaluate that properly. You don't have access to the prior 11 unless you have a few hundred a month to pay for the subscription.
Bottom of the Bottom line - short interest data is worthless.
I prefer to look at the money flow and on balance volume to discern if shorts are gaming a stock.
So when was this "rolling average" added to the NASDAQ short interst quote?
Why don't we have a simple net quote?
Why were we (the general public) denied access to the comma delimited files that quote net short interest? Why is short interest a big secret?
There is no reason that net short sales and short interest should not be avialable to the general public on a daily basis.
If the SEC really had the interests of the general public at heart they would mandate this data from the exchanges.
"NASDAQ® short interest is available by issue for a rolling twelve months and is based on a mid-month settlement date. '
I don't remember seeing the rolling twelve month thing before, do you know what it means? It sounds like we aren't gettin a bottom line short interest figure.
I noticed that too - think it's a form screw up - not a virus.
It's also screwed up in that you can't even see huge ding dong's monicker any more, so you have to cut and paste the link to its profile.
I'm not the one that grants the posting opportunities, sorry..
But I do think you get 15 a day as a free member.
That's quite a bit if you aren't getting flamed :)
Yeah, but if they're living and posting for the stars & recs - are we missing anything when they don't post?
I just filled out the current Yahoo survey and gave them an earful about Moms. Hopefully it will go to a different department from the abuse complaints and maybe someone will actually do something. The IMGN board was polluted for a long time by some jerk that use the foulest most disgusting language imaginable. I finally got through on the phone to someone in management and that jerk was finally removed and unable to return.
I would encourage Yahoo posters to continue to report Moms, it isn't a totally hopeless cause. Personally, unless they return my PaulaGem ID, I will probably never be a regular poster again. I supported and tried to help management with the IMGN problem and again with the Moms problem on the GERN board. If they can't respect that, screw 'em.
"effing" VS my hearty FU to Moms on Yahoo..
Sorry if anyone thinks it's hypocritical. It really isn't prudery or an attempt to control language. I was trying to keep the tone of this board civil. That's a long gone hope for the Yahoo board and Moms really does deserve a big bronx cheer and a hearty FU.
I don't know how anyone else feels, but I read the Yahoo boards because there is more traffic and occasionally some good information on them, but when a board gets killed by someone like Moms (happened in IMGN a few years back too) I can't understand why Yahoo doesn't take some action.
I can't stand to spend more than a couple of minutes on it any more becuase of the mindless drivel. I'm sure I miss some good content because of it, but generally the board is a waste of time.
I have no interest in making this "my" board. It was here before I took it over, and I have no intention to censor posts unless they are abusive or just plain spam. My main intent in taking the moderator job was to make sure moms & company could not contiune their abuse here.
I hope posters will contine to post significant insights and information here, because it's going to get lost over there. This really is a great format because the search engine works correctly, and you can spell check and correct typos for 15 minutes after you post. Technically, Yahoo doesn't hold a candle to either investorshub or siliconinvestor.
Surprising, but further scientific proof that blastocysts are not human beings.
Researchers at Yale School of Medicine and the University of Oxford have identified the very first embryonic neurons in what develops into the cerebral cortex. They are in place 31 days after fertilization. This is much earlier than previously thought and well before development of arms, legs or
eyes. The researchers found that the...

Thanks Hasbro - good articles.
I voted in 2004 and thought sure Kerry would win. Bush had made a fool of himself and the country too many times to be taken seriously. The polls showed that Kerry would win and everyone I talked to believed Kerry would win.
But he didn't.. and before that shock wore off I went to the Geron board and heard Ohio horror stories directly from folks who were there. The more I looked into the matter, the more uncomfortable I became.
That is why I will not shut up, even when taunted and harassed by those who think questioning and dissent is foolish and upatriotic.
Peace (I pray for us all)

Cabbies in charge of the votes -
"Posted on Friday, July 21, 2006 - 09:35 am: Edit Post Delete Post View Post/Check IP Move Post (Moderator/Admin Only)
Special report with Adele Eisner
Nearly as bizarre as the voting machine sleepovers in San Diego, Yellow cab drivers were disconcerted to find themselves in charge of memory card chain of custody in the May 2 primary in Cuyahoga County.
That was reported on Fox-8 News in Cleveland; a host of other problems have also been identified in a devastating internal investigation commissioned by the Cuyahoga Board of Elections.
In today's meeting of the Cuyahoga elections board, Democrat board members Ed Coaxum and Loree Soggs called called for the resignation of Michael Vu (Director of Elections) and Gwen Dillingham (Deputy Director or Elections). The two Republican members dissented, and the meeting ended with a 2-2 split as to whether to remove Vu from office immediately or try to work with him. Ohio Secretary of State Kenneth Blackwell may be asked to break the tie.
Bob Bennett, the Chairman of the Ohio state Republican Party, was in favor of retaining Vu, saying "we can't change ships in the middle of the stream."
U.S. Representative Stephanie Tubbs-Jones commented, "On the other hand, you can't stay on the same ship if everybody is about to commit mutiny."
Tubbs-Jones urged the board to come to a decision without turning it over to Blackwell.
"You've had two years to deal with this," she said, adding that handing it to Blackwell would carry a strong appearance of impropriety since he is running for Governor.
Blackwell is the Republican candidate for governor; Cuyahoga County is the most populous elections jurisdiction in the state of Ohio.
The investigation that triggered today's fireworks can be found here:
http://www.cuyahogavoting.org/CERP_Final_Report_20060720.pdf
Two side notes:
Three elections workers were indicted in Cuyahoga County over recount irregularities following the Nov. 2006 election. It is the position of Black Box Voting that Vu and Dillingham's role in supervising the illegal recount should be more carefully examined.
In addition to the indictments, Vu's judgement should be questioned for his bizarre decisions about handling chain of custody for the Diebold electronic ballot boxes on May 2.
Cleveland Fox 8 News found that a letter had been sent by the Yellow Cab company to the Board of Elections objecting to the fact that their cab drivers were made solely responsible for the memory cards getting back to the elections division on election night.
Channel-8 news interviewed one cab driver who confirmed that she was left all by herself with a cab filled with memory cards and other supplies. Chris Nance, Stephanie Tubbs Jones' assistant, has said that he witnessed many yellow cabs driving up delivering supplies with only the driver overseeing the votes during transportation."

More information on the Ohio indictments on blackboxvoting.org. Note to those who say there is no proof of tampering - look a little harder, it's out there.
If the machines have no paper trail and are constructed so that the boot loader controls the voting patters there will be no evidence unless experts are permitted to examine the customized programming.
There is no reason to construct the machines in the way they have been constructed unles the purpose is to create an insecure voting system.
That is evidence enough for me.
Would you expect the police to arrest a burglar with a ladder propped below an open second story window of your house, or would you expect them to let him go in and steal a few things first?
Have you checked out blackboxvoting.org?
Strictly non partisan, as am I.
Volusia county has since dumped their Diebold voting machines for security reasons.
I believe there was a lot of foul play from what I've read.
"Research medical tourism and you will see most going to india are from Africa,Asia and the middle east..............how can they afford the cost and Americans can not.
Besdides.............companies in this country are starting to give this option to their employees.
Maybe if people in this country learned to save rather then spend 125% of their future income and take on debt by the truck load to by a fancy car or big house they could afford to take care of their health."
Research causes of bankruptcy in this country and you'll find medical crisis near or at the top of the list.
Even with health insurance hospitalization costs big time.
Companies giving this option to employees? I think not. It is the decision of the health insurance provider, not the company.
Are those flocking to other countries for treatment average citizens or a privileged few?
But you miss my point. Most people in this country can not go overseas because their health insurance won't cover it. That's the system in this country.
As to the effings - it is rude and abusive. It's the sort of thing that diminishes your argument and the quality of the board. One of the things that was wrong with the Yahoo board was the petty bickering. Folks like Moms and Gramps egged others on. I will admit to giving Gramps more attention than he was due.
I simply don't want this board to go that way.
Peace,
Paula
The "effing" is gratuitous and makes you both look bad.
As far as the overseas treatment - even if your point is correct hasbro - it isn't covered by health insurance so it won't be available to the vast majority of US patients.
It is wrong to make folks pay for insurance and medicare and deny them the most effective therapies because of politics.
