r59: HELE
"Heightened competition" and a consumer that is going to ground does not paint a pretty picture!
lj: It is strange that the pro-Palestine protests have leveled off.
And what is happening in Ukraine? An airstrike here, an airstrike there?
IMO, the best way of getting the truth is to read British media sources.
r59: HELE
Any thoughts on this consumer reports company with a disastrous earnings report.
The stock is at a 5-year low. The company has been around forever; I don't see it going out of business. Low float--around 25M, I believe. But, the debt to cash ratio is very high, imo.
hweb2: Stocks in general
Pure and simple, we are in a recession. Consumer spending has tanked. Yet, tech stocks are flying like it is 2020. Ooops. Did I say that!
lj: I read that Al J prints Hamas propaganda. Hamas is using civilians as shields, it seems.
Thing is, the October 7 attacks were so horrific that the Israelis do not care about collateral damage. Both sides are disgusting, imo.
al44: If Judicial Watch is reporting on this, it is 100 percent true. Mayorkas is guilty of more than contempt of Congress. Treason perhaps.
Trinityz1: They can criminalize it all they want. It wouldn't stand up in court.
Clinton v. Trump? The rematch. Stay tuned. Stranger things have happened.
lj: If the U.S. weren't a third-world country, there would have been planning for this.
Small nuke plants co-located with bitcoin mining sights.
George Gilder, a 20th Century technology "prophet", said cryptocurrency mining was doomed because it uses excessive energy.
The jury hasn't started their deliberations.
al44: This paragraph is a big hoot: "At publishing time, the Democrats were hard at work building Congressional ballot drop boxes to vote on the "Stop Cheating In Elections" Bill and told the press they were "very confident" the Bill would not pass".
SkeBallLarry: Unattended drop boxes. That is how the election can be stolen. The Republican Party has to be ready this time.
al44: Admitted as a refugee. That is the ticket to Medicaid. They are almost all admitted as "refugees". Medicaid in some State gives access to free medication. Free.
This is outrageous.l
Bitcoin should be banned--now. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-13616345/america-bitcoin-town-heart-palpitations-health-crisis.html
lj: Millions in Texas are without power in sweltering heat and humidity. Terrible conditions for utility workers to do their job. Not exactly a picnic for law enforcement, either.
It is a disaster, pure and simple.
lj: Something else to consider. After last-week's elections in France, the far-left has a majority of seats in their legislature. They want a 90-percent tax rate on the "wealthy". In the U.K., the Labor Party won in a landslide.
This is going to be very bad for the European economy. It reminds me of the 1970's.
The leftist U.S. mainstream media will downplay this.
lj: No it isn't a good scene in East Texas. We should be playing the NVDA and TSLA "multiplier" ETF's--long and short. This weather has to be putting a damper on gasoline usage. Even gasoline powered lawnmowers aren't being used.
al44: I don't think Kunstler wrote that article/post. It wasn't up to his high standards.
By the way, Joe's place in Rehoboth Beach is on Delaware Bay, not the Atlantic Ocean.
al44: That is the perfect "meme". This has been going on in the U.K. for quite some time.
Now that the Labor Party is taking control of the Government, with an overwhelming majority, the war on people who oppose illegal immigration will accelerate. Nigel Farage is the U.K's only hope. I would not be surprised if they don't try to do to him what the Biden regime has done to Steve Bannon and Peter Navarro. Navarro should be getting out of prison within weeks.
Bannon just went in, to keep him off of the airwaves in the critical 4 weeks leading up to the election.
lj: A lot to think about there. AI is going to make stealing bitcoin easier. Steve Bannon's buddy Jim Rickard has been warning about a digital currency. My understanding is that Wells Fargo and another bank have been working with the U.S. government on a digital currency.. When the dollar collapses, I guess we suckers will get .10 of a new digital currency for every one U.S. dollar. Maybe less.
Back to "betcoin". The one thing Bitcoin has going for it is that the number of bitcoins is finite.
Unless Biden is given the boot next week, mark my word, the U.S. dollar will start to drop.
Toto has pulled back the curtain.
lj: Holy cow! I had no idea that there are that many counties in Texas. Maryland has only 24 counties.
lj: PED
I have to admit, the stats look good, especially the fact that with no LT debt, it has leveraged free cash flow. The price-to-book value ratio is very good. Are U getting me into another small cap oil company? I think so. I guess I'll switch my cash in the Pick 10 into PED! Kidding.
EGY--still a dividend steady-Eddie. If it ever gets back to $8 a share, I'll sell.
SSKILLZ1: I am in good company at the bottom of the barrel!
wadegarret; SMCI
Believe it or not, I think it could go a lot higher over the long run. Check out the 10-year chart on CMG. Why? It is a low float stock. Check out the current price.
I think that SMCI might become the CMG of AI plays. It, too, has a low float. JMO.
lj: You won't like this, but if Bitcoin's price drops a significant amount, I am going to buy it, rather than add more by proxy (MSTR). When the dollar is no longer the U.S. reserve currency for oil, U might want to own it, too. Governments can seize your gold, but not your bitcoin. They could, however, pull the plug on the electricity. These are scary times, my friend.
lj: I just saw a mainstream media article showing it still on track for Texas. If it makes landfall in Texas, the big problem would be the tidal surge. Your average person tends to forget that the tidal surge is a very big, dangerous problem.
NYBob: The MTG speech is important. Trump needs to make known what the Biden is up to with these Safe Mobility offices. Process them in their home countries and fly them in under cover of darkness. No one will be the wiser.
lj: Beryl It is not a good situation, but it could have been worse. Let's hope it doesn't shift again. I hope the heavy rain is needed in the path it takes. That is the positive spin I'm putting on it, no pun intended. The meteorologist in the video does a great job.
litltlejohn: re cattle call
I won't be buying BLMN, owner of Outback Steakhouse!
r59: TSLA
I guess it is an example of what former Fed. Chair Alan Greenspan called "irrational exuberance"! I am not seeing many new Teslas on the road. Last year, yes. This year, no.
This is anecdotal, of course.
lj: Buy SQQQ in after-hours trading?
lj : You have just made the argument for nuclear power. Speaking of the Lone Star State, the heat is affecting cattle ranching in a very negative way. Buy your favorite cuts and freeze them.
There might be a shortage of beef.
wadegarret: GERN
Good point. Their drug might cannibalize Reblzyl. They might corner the market.
There might be drug companies lining up to buy them out, now that GERN has done all of the hard work! Thank you, wadegarret. I am going to start a position. Much appreciated
nelson1234: OT
No, no, no. He isn't allowed to podcast in a Federal penitentiary.
He must have pre-recorded it before he left for the pen last week.
What I found interesting was that in July 1964, Confederal General Jubal Early was closing in on Washington, D.C., which was not defended because most of the troops from there were fighting in Petersburg, Virginia. The Union Army under Meade?, don't remember, got there in the nick of time. Had he made it to D.C., the outcome of the war would have been different.
Bannon recommends that everyone take their kids or grandkids to Gettysburg. The battlefield is inspiring, they have ghost tours of the cemetery at night, etc.
wadegarret: GERN
Since they just received FDA approval of the MDS drug, it would be at LEAST a year before a takeover offer, imo. First, they have to go through the labeling process with the FDA, which will take months and months, I believe. Next, it will take time for sales of the drug to increase.
BHVN's blockbuster drug Nurtec (acquired by Pfizer) took 3 quarters to see rising sales number.
No rush to buy GERN, imo.
If anyone listens to Steve Bannon's "War Room" here, I highly recommend listening to yesterday's July 4 special podcast on the Civil War.
al44: Schumer is a nasty piece of work, but, to his credit, he warned Trump and the intelligence deep State would come after him.
al44: They made total asses of themselves at that January rally in D.C. after Trump won.
lj: Will be tempted to buy more MSTR today. There are some new inverse ETF's for MSTR.
Should be a slow day in the market on Friday.
Good night, sleep tight, don't let the bedbugs bite.
lj: Don't think there will be too many people walking the Strip in Vegas today!
Friend texted me a copy of the weather forecast for Phoenix. Miserable there, too, but about 7 degrees less hot.
Hope that weather doesn't head East, but it often does.
Fingers crossed for Texas.
lj: If they deport the illegals, say 5M, and set up mining ops in areas with nuclear energy, there shouldn't be a problem. Maybe 95 percent of the people who have crossed into the U.S. over the Mexican border use energy. The insanity of the Democrats' policies is off the scale.
