A guy that I have known for years is going down to the Parade. Him his wife and he is taking the kids out of school for the day. He said he wouldn't miss this for anything in the world. No telling when it will happen again.
Still pretty quiet. I imagine either tomorrow we will start hearing something or maybe Monday. We still have time for the FA market to open. I wanted it to go to 7 games to...
lol You gonna be pitching for them 28 years from now to??lol Congrats to Phillies and their fans.
I think not so many days off would help. I have to agree with SS on this one. You don't want the lessor teams winning. Some of these days off are rediculous. In the playoffs you play 2 games, then have a travel day off then play 1 game and have the next day off even though there is still supposed to be games played there. This was a freak coastal storm that hit. It has been cold in the North East this year. Colder than normal and then we have this huge storm. Monday and Tuesday they are saying we will be 60 degrees. 58 Tomorrow here which would put the philly area about 63 or 64 degrees.
Congrats winners of the contest.
Hey Bud Selig
"Baseball was made for kids, and grown-ups only screw it up."
Bob Lemon
This is a flat out lie what Selig said.
"Selig said that as of 6:30 p.m. only a tenth of an inch of rain was forecast to fall between game time and midnight. About the same time that Bastardi called for a cancellation "
Every forecast that I saw said that this game should NOT be played because the rain was going to pick up in intensity. Also they are calling for the rain to change over to snow here but that the storm was going to pick up in intensity here also. MLB severly dropped the ball on this one and the bud man is lying to try to cover his tail.
Since I am in the area I know alot of people that go to the games there and Eagles games. The worst was a friend of mine has a son who is very slow. He isn't retareded but is close to it. The kid is a Packers fan. He went to the Packers/eagles game either last year or the year before wearing his cheese head and wearing a packers Jersey. While he was walking a man about 300 pounds intentionally shoved his shoulder at the 15 year old who weighs 130 soaking wet and knocked him to the ground. He laughed and kept on walking while some other eagles fans laughed. In his seats he was screamed at and called every name in the book. This wasn't by one fan but a whole bunch of fans that were in his area. His father said he will never go there again which I am sure is exactly what these scumbags want who did this.
After all season of you beating up the Phillies I am glad to see you came to the other side and became a believer. I didn't pick them to make it to the series as I picked the Cubs but I see them so much here I knew they were better than the Mets. I thought the Cubs would be in the series and beat Tampa. I don't agree though that Tampa will fold up next year. The won in a extremly tough AL East which is no easy task. They have alot of Talent on that club and I think they will be a more experienced club next year and will be a tough team to beat.
What a game he pitched last night. Maybe it wasn't his best game ever but in the most important game of his life he pitched a increadable game. He got ripped on that play with 1st base. He did the city proud. He did the Phillies proud and here is a guy who is 45 busting his tail to get the guy out and diving yet to do so..
This is a win, win for me as I am in PA and will be rooting for the Phillies. But also wouldn't mind seeing Tampa win either. They suffered for so many years and go to worst to 1st is a great story. Both very deserving teams.
OMG Your killing me here..lol
Some reporters are just bad. I remember back in the 80's a Philly man had lost his wife and I think it was 3 kids to a fire. a competitor TV station played the clip of the heartless reporter who went up to the poor guy and stuck the microphone in his face and said could you please explain to us how you are feeling right now. His answer had a ton of beeps in it as he was cursing the reporter up and down and then they had to restrain the man from choking the daylights out of the reporter. BTW the reporter did lose his job.
I think they had themselves getting into the same situation the yankees were in. Boston just didn't get as deep in it and can pull themselves out of it alot easier. Varitek who is the best behind the plate at calling a game just can't seem to hit anymore. Ortiz played hurt all year and then when they lost Manny he lost his protection. You also lost the most feared hitter in the game. Had Manny been in this playoff game their offense looks alot scarier. You also had Lowell out.Bay was a great trade for them. Some of their young guys didn't really produce like they did all year. Boston will be fine. Theo is a great GM and he wasn't locked in to as many bad contracts as the yankees had themselves.
lol I bet that killed you to say that..lol Nothing Vastly superior as these teams battled down the strech and Tampa won out in the division and now in head to head action in a tough 7 game battle. Tampa had less than 1/3 the payroll that Boston.
lol I love that clip. That was hysterical and reminds me of Angel Hernandez when he is behind the plate..lol

Very dumb move. You just can't get away with that crap anymore. At one time cops would help a star and drive them home. Not anymore. Cops are afraid someone will find out and they would lose their jobs because of groups like M.A.D.D would climb all ver the department. Very dumb move on Jaba's part.
Well there is only one way to find out if the kid can be a MLB player. Put him in there and let him have at it. People weren't sure Bernie Williams was going to be a Major Leage player and he was sent back down. He turned out allright. Ssome guys will always be locks to play in the majors and some guys with grit and determination have to prove themselves. Last 30 games of the season he batted .355. Last 10 he batted .333 You can't always believe what you see in Sept so you have to give the kid a shot. He fails you can make a trade and get someone else.
I think you would love to see him in a Yankee uniform because he causes nothing but a distraction and many yankee fans don't want him. So I am sure that has alot to do with it..lol
As far as a CF I say give the kid Gardner a shot at Center. I think his bat looked better when he got called back up. Had some scrappy at bats. Only has a so so arm but has great speed. There are many CF's that play with great speed and only a so so arm.
He has told friends he wants to go to the Yankees. I would be shocked if Cashman didn't entertain the thought. If anyone makes the call to sign him it would be hank. Casman seems to want to bring in players that will mold the word team. Hanks only concern is we didn't make the playoffs and Joe Torre's dodgers wouldn't have made it if it wasn't for Manny.
LA should sign him, They made more money off this deal. Boston had to pay for him to be in LA which means LA got him not only for free, but they made alot more money on him being there. He also carried them into the playoffs and consession made a killing to.
It was definitly a bad move. In pro sports you have to live for the day when your in this position.
Well I can see why he did it because at times at the end of the season he hasn't looked himself on the mound. Like his arm was tired. But last night he was in a zone and looked great. Arm chair coaching after the fact is common and easy but I think this one was a no brainer. Leave him in and they would have won is my guess. He had Boston looking confused and bewildered and off balance. After all, except for the upcoming world series this has been the most important game in the Rays franchise ever.
Well they have been beating the snot out of Boston for the most part. Won 2 of 3 in Boston after a split at home. If they can split at home again they win. I had a feeling you would post today..lol You have been pretty quiet as Boston has been taking a beating.
rofl. I thought that to. Great comeback. I didn't think Boston had it in them anymore. They still wont win this series and Tampa will win but it was a great notice to Tampa to not count their chickens til they hatch. There was no reason to take Kaz out except to save him for the series. He wasn't tired and was crusing along.
Although Bay has done well for Boston, I am sorry but I still refuse to believe that he is as talented as Manny at the plate. Look at the clinic that Manny put on in LA after his trade. If it wasn't for Manny the dodgers wouldn't have made the playoffs. Who ever thought that Manny doing great would make Torre look good.
Hey, congrats to those Phillies huh? WTG.
You should be more worried about you Red Sox than to pick on Nomar. Some of your guys who are your stud hitters have been doing their best to make themselves look like A-Rod in the post-season. Whats Ortiz hitting? 1 for 100?lol
No, I understood it perfect;y. I was refering to you re-quoting winloseordraw's quote.
Boston will not come back in this series.
Wont happen. Rays are about to dispatch their second pair of dirty sox into the laundry basket on their way to the world series where the other vastly superior team will be moping Tampa's floor each morning.
Actually no, I don't want Beltron. I didn't want him for the kind of money he was asking when he left the Astros. He is good but not worth the money he wanted.
They need to pull Moyer, he is serving up Meatballs.
First it is baseball related and this is the baseball board isn't it? Well the same reason some people talked about the red sox when they were not in the playoffs. The same reason people talked about the red sox when they didn't make it to the series. Thats why!!!!!
MLB Rumors: Are The Yankees and Mets Negotiating a Trade?
According to Frank Russo of New York Baseball Digest, as well as Was Watching, the star center fielder of the New York Mets, Carlos Beltran, will be playing in New York next season—but on which team?
The Mets, as Ted Berg of MetsBlog confirms, could be taking calls about Carlos Beltran this offseason, and one possible trade could have Carlos Beltran playing in pinstripes
The rumored trade is one that doesn't make much sense for the New York Mets. According to Frank Russo,
“Now, this is an interesting trade I heard: A Yankee trade between the Yankees and the Mets, think about this. Robbie Cano, another member of the bullpen—either Veres and/or Bruney, Kennedy and possibly another one of the prospects from Scranton-Wilkes Barre or below, to the Mets for Carlos Beltran."
As a New York Mets fan who has constantly thrown his anger towards Carlos Beltran, I still see this trade as a stupid one. Carlos Beltran is one of the main reasons for any success we have, not for the lack thereof.
Although this trade could relieve our bullpen somewhat, there are many more possibilities that wouldn't take away one of our best hitters. Robinson Cano is decent at best (obviously he would be an improvement for the Mets over Castillo, but still...), and Ian Kennedy has yet to prove he has what it takes at the major-league level.
Hopefully, this is just a rumor. However, if this does happen, know that I will never forgive Omar Minaya for making a trade like this.
What a great game. Long game though but Tampa wanted to show Boston they wont be intimidated.
You see where the last team you called Vastly Superior is sitting don't ya? hmmmmmmmmm??lol
rofl em
lol, I read it. I agree with a few of those things are correct. I actually think that if Pedroia doesn't win MVP this year it will because of Youk getting some votes. He will probably get a decent amount of votes and I think he should come in 3rd in MVP voting.
