Now THERE'S an idea -- ice cream! Do you think people would buy more WindTamers if they got an ice cream maker as a premium? How about free ice cream cones at the demos? Urp!
I'll leave the lollypops for you.
Schwing -- As you said, "Military batteries...I don't see the value."
I've been thinking about this, puzzling over why DID they choose Ultralife as the source of all their top people?
Do military batteries push the state of the art in storing power in batteries?
One of the big problems with wind power is that you don't know if the wind will be blowing when you need power, so you either need an alternate source of electricity -- or you need storage.
Maybe there could be more here than first meets the eye.
Wishful thinking? Has anbody heard anything pertinent? Like why DID they choose Ultralife as the source of these people? Are military batteries just high-priced ho-hum?
.
In the meantime, I agree with Wakl that there is great benefit to a team that likes working together, knows what they can count on from each other, and hits the ground running -- especially at this stage.
And I'm not so sure that WindTamer would be any better off with people with a "large wind" background like GE -- their preconceptions might be worse. And if Bergey is the leader in "small wind": thanks for keeping the flame burning all these years, but I'm not impressed -- WindTamer could surpass their volume very soon. How does it help WindTamer to hire those stuck in old thinking who couldn't take it to the next level? Keep in mind that there are "recognized authorities" like Paul Gripe who still say that WindTamer can't work, despite the facts -- not helpful to recruitment.
So maybe WindTamer could have hired better, even at this stage, but they certainly could have done a lot worse. We all hope the new team is up for it.
Welcome to the board, Ma!
Keep in mind that there are people on the board that are here to undermine WindTamer to further their personal agenda, so don't believe everything you read. Wakl had an excellent post on the subject -- see #365.
.
We all have various ways of helping the environment, and various philosophies about doing it. The solar hot-water panels on my roof worked well for some years, but now need repair. I buy a good car and keep it for many years, which helps the environment more than if I were constantly dumping the old one for a few MPG more. At one point I let my suburban back yard grow up into a natural meadow, but the neighbors let me know that they preferred lawnmowers.
.
If Mr. Brock likes his Hummer, he has earned it through years of risks and hard work, and I say let him enjoy it. Any negative effect on the environment is very tiny compared to his invention and development of WindTamer. Talk about carbon offsets! But I agree with you that people respond far more to image than they do to reason, so it would be best not to drive it to media interviews. Maybe soon he will be able to afford to trade it in on electric Hummer, and have it all!
.
The investment that we each have made in WindTamer is a seed sown at a very critical time for the company, and many people are not willing to sow that seed at this time. When that seed becomes a great field of WindTamer flowers, we will have done more for the environment than probably anything else we could have done. That win for society is added to the win-win that the company and we also expect to make a lot of money! -- money that we can spend in ways that further support the environment, if we want.
So you yourself are providing a good example of investing in a socially-responsible way, while not neglecting the small things that we each can also do. So welcome, and thanks!
I see from the SEC 8-K today that they have a new VP Finance, Molly Hedges, making a total of four executives from Ultralife Batteries. Why don't they just buy Ultralife, and get the rest too?

WindTamer inks deals with distributors
By ANDREA DECKERT
Rochester Business Journal
February 25, 2010
Geneseo-based WindTamer Corp. has signed agreements with three distributors, in Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and Hawaii, to sell, install and provide warranty service on its turbines in 12 states.
The Livingston County firm began selling its turbines in mid-November, and has sold 27 turbines, company leaders said.
WindTamer also announced the U.S. Patent and Trade Office issued the firm a patent relating to the design of its wind turbine. It is the company’s second patent. WindTamer has five additional patents pending.
With those three high-powered highly paid executives added to Mr. Brock, there must be a bunch of things they could announce that would help the stock price. But if you're not selling, maybe you want it to stay low, until you're done buying. Mum's the word!
Well, that's the good type of activist shareholder! It certanily seems that they should at least be able to post SOMETHING!
BTW, I could make myself available to be adopted as a grandchild...or a child! Especially if the government would stop printing more money -- talk about diluting shareholder value! But you won't even notice when your trillion becomes just half a trillion, because you can't spend it fast enough anyway...
Probably everyone on the board agrees with you. Why don't you be the brave one, and send an appropriate email to the company about marketing, and tell us what they say?
I'm not concerned about the price for myself, because I expect to ride this one up for a long time, so I'm not selling. Or maybe GE or somebody will buy them at a nice premium!
But this is the time for other investors to take advantage of the low prices now, because we all hope that we will never see the stock this low again, and it will eventually go up a WHOLE LOT!
Wakl, I'll leaf it to you -- as with lemons and lemonade, take the sap(s) and make maple syrup!
To find more saps that are also FULL of hot air, go to Albany NY and Washington DC. Could they be using economic paralysis to keep the real Wind Gods from moving? Maybe they are waiting for a campaign contribution?
I hope that today's 35,600-share order has a longer-lasting and greater effect than the 25,000 shares! Someday we will brag, "I bought WindTamer when it was less than a dollar, many splits ago!"
You are much more optimistic than I am about that. A Chavez-style takeover is already in process.
A state-level override is a good idea. If I remember correctly, when we put solar panels on our roof, the locality was required by the state to allow it. Maybe the locality was still allowed to make some rules about it, but I don't remember.
So for WindTamer, the state could require localities to allow any wind generator that was 40 feet high or less, installed where if the tower falls it is within the property lines, meets all safety requirements, and the noise level is less than so many decibels at the property line. Sometimes the front yard would be a much better location than the back yard, but that might be left up to the locality, whether to allow a large flower in the front yard. And roof mount would usually be visible from the street, so the state should require that roof-mount be allowed.
I don't think that all states treat localities as creations of the state and subject to it. Any lawyers out there?
And of course WindTamer has to have the personnel to get this done, or hire lobbyists. But it would sure save an enormous amount of time, including WT corporate time, for millions of WT installations!
A federal requirement would be ideal -- explain that to your buddy Barack would you? Of course, WT would have to pay ACORN to "supervise" the installations...Are you sure that you want the feds involved?
Well, it's not much, but I see that WindTamer's site has added a story about a happy customer: http://www.windtamerturbines.com/2010/02/1182/
.
And a story about Skip the Planning andZoning Hassles featuring another customer: http://www.windtamerturbines.com/2010/02/skip-the-planning-and-zoning-hassles-with-a-windtamer-turbine-installation/
.
And the same customer from another point of view: http://www.windtamerturbines.com/2010/02/upcoming-installation-of-windtamer-turbine-at-abner-adams-house-bed-breakfast-in-bloomfield-ny/#more-1238
.
And maybe some of that is not new, but I just noticed it. From the other comments, it sounds like they are swamped and don't dare get much more publicity until they have the staff. And hopefully they will need to get into mass production soon. This doesn't help the stock price today, though.
Wakl -- Maybe they don't speak English, so they have no clue what you want? I don't see any English ones in the list. How's your Greek or Japanese or whatever? Ask Fujin to let the winds out of the bag again! And be careful what you ask -- we don't want any tornados in Geneseo. :) How about that Hanuman, to make solar take a back seat?
From Wikipedia:
There are many different gods of wind in different religions:
Aeolus, the ruler of the winds in Greek mythology.
Anemoi, the Greek wind gods Boreas, Notus, Eurus, and Zephyrus.
Ehecatl, one of the creator gods in Mesoamerican creation myths documented for pre-Columbian central Mexican cultures, such as the Aztec.
Fujin, the Japanese wind god and one of the eldest Shinto gods. According to legend, he was present at the creation of the world and first let the winds out of his bag to clear the world of mist.
Njord, in Norse mythology, is the god of the wind. There are also four dvärgar (Norse dwarves), named Norðri, Suðri, Austri and Vestri, and probably the four stags of Yggdrasil, personify the four winds, and parallel the four Greek wind gods.
Pazuzu, the demon of the South-West wind and son of the god Hanbi in Assyrian and Babylonian mythology.
Stribog is the name of the Slavic god of winds, sky and air. He is said to be the ancestor (grandfather) of the winds of the eight directions.
Vayu, the Hindu God of Wind, Hanuman's father.
Venti, the Roman gods of the winds, were essentially renamed Anemoi, borrowed from the Greeks.
Hunaman, the Indian god of wind, who was said to have almost consumed the sun.
Other than that, how do you like it? They certainly should have heard that shout in Geneseo and Mt. Olympus and beyond!
Did you notice that when they put a new chart up for the new day, they put the close at the top of the chart, as if they expect it to go only down? Why not at least put the close across the center of the blank chart? Anyway, there it is at 59 cents for today. Wakl, we're counting on you to wake up your buddies, the Wind Gods, and drive this thing UP ONLY!
Mowsmows -- Sorry for the delay -- I was offline for a while. [Where did that name come from? When you look at it quickly, it looks sort of like "more snows". Been in DC lately?]
.
Here is Blake's bio, and follow its internal link for more info: http://www.newpa.com/newsroom/ExecutiveStaff/index.aspx
.
Wakl -- It looks like it could be that Blake still is the Exec Dep Sec?
.
Here is the SEC filing:
Item 5.02 Departure of Directors or Certain Officers; Election of Directors; Appointment of Certain Officers; Compensatory Arrangements of Certain Officers.

Wow! Wind Gods definitely awake now.
All of us stockholders appreciate your extra efforts. Maybe WT will give you a free WT.
I think I will follow your example. I need some of that fresh country air that you get at farm shows.
You "hope"?
Better make plans to host all the posters at your condo in Hawaii next year.
Actually, it will be hard to sell the stock when the sky is the limit -- like selling Haloid.
Eight tickets for your granddaughters?

Interesting that LaLoggia now owns 6.1% of WindTamer, 7,010,000 shares, per SEC filing 'SC 13G/A' of 2/8/10. Would someone like to give me some money to buy more stock? Wind Gods are waking up!

Coffee and donuts cause you to drive 70 miles each way? Must be serving your WindGods brand of coffee and donuts.
You could have a joint marketing agreement with WindTamer -- they give WindGods coffee and donuts with every WindTamer sold. You'll be doubly wealthy!
The open house announcement on the WindTamer site was mentioned and linked in Post #482 on Wednesday morning 2/3/10. But I guess the post was too long, which is what you expect from Longwinded, so many people missed it. Thanks for making sure that everyone saw it through your additional post. Enjoy!
I see that you are modeling those clothes...
.
Read your history -- the old paradigm usually fights the coming paradigm.
If you want to pay twice as much to have it run at "ideal" efficiency, go ahead, pay to mount it up as high as a Bergey on a guy-wired 80-120ft tower on a minimum 1-acre lot -- that's your privilege. The WindTamer's efficiency is so high that probably most people would rather sacrifice some of the ideal efficiency to have their windpower down to earth so they can get a permit and can afford to actually own the unit.
.
Read Visser's report: Many of the real-world measurements which broke the Betz limit were done with a 13ft "tower".
.
See a real one for yourself: Tower here in Perry looks around 20-25ft high; other reports have indicated that most of his electric bill is eliminated and he's running the meter backward a lot.

If you can believe the charts, today is 61-cent day on every trade.
Maybe people have been getting their tips from "Stocktwiter.com", which has a banner ad at the top of the Discussion Board. From their ad, it must be that the twite alerts you with a Super Tweet, unlike the ordinary tweet that you would get from Twitter. However, their picture is blue and does not show a view of the pink rump, so maybe it's not an authentic twite.
.
Since I had heard of twitter, but not of twiter, I looked it up in the Encarta Dictionary:
Twite (noun): finch with pink rump.
a bird of the finch family with streaked brown feathers, the male of which has a pink rump. Native to: northern Europe. Latin name: Acanthis flavirostris
.
No wonder it's been a confusing day for WindTamer investors...
Dear Guru Wakl -- Thanks for the followup.
Somehow I'm up to 15 now. Maybe the limit of 3 was a probationary period, and my corrections officer said it was OK.
As I poke around the site, they want me to pay money to get unlimited posts, but I probably won't be THAT talkative.
Maybe when they saw that you were on a first-name basis with Gerry, they gave it to you right away.
TuffDawg seems to major in insight, but we can let sleeping dogs be on this one.
I sure hope it's not that creeping senility you were adopting at one time! :)
.
"winded, I found this as well. The thought of Hydro with ( low head ) in my view may have some interesting applications out there. I'm not sure if what I'm imagining would be something that Tamer has in mind but my guess is they are working very hard to cover all their bases. I also think that the wind part of the business needs all there attention at the moment. Do watch the TRADES at the top of the message board page? If you do what is your thoughts( if any) about the trade that keeps going in and out of 10K shares?"
.
Don't watch the trades much, except to notice that the wind gods have been on holiday, so I hadn't noticed the 10K shares movement. Is that you, changing your mind every day?
I already bought what I can afford to buy until I win the lottery, but I like to see what those on this board have to say so I can decide if I'm going to be wealthy like the rest of you or not. So I like to see that there are more arrows in the quiver, like low-head hydro. And what does either wind or hydro have to do with "transportation" etc.? Should be an interesting
"ride".

How are you able to post more than 3x/day?
Maybe last summer? Sorry, I would have to search too. It was one word in a long sentence of possible future markets/applications, along with wind farms, automotive, boats, etc. So maybe there is more to come eventually.
IHub says I only get 3 posts per day (!), and this is the third.
Guru Wakl, Thanks for the help.
But at 63, young squirt, you're barely more than halfway there: "...nevertheless [mankind's] days shall be one hundred and twenty years." -- Genesis 6:3. And if you didn't start thinking like an adult until you were thirty...it changes your investment horizon. Check out Cenegenics. Sure, it's 15-20 grand, but don't be like Jack Benny when the holdup man said, "Your money or your life!" -- and Jack said, "Don't rush me. I'm thinking about it."
Somewhere I read that at around 50-60 years old, the brain goes through a high-level integration resulting in what the researchers called "wisdom" -- probably they were funded by older people.
For instance, I think the filings indicated that Mr. Brock is about your age, and it seems that his brain is still functioning. WindTamer is just the beginning -- not only are there all those applications out there, but SEC filings mention "hydro" -- HydroTamer?
Every poster should be required to sign your post.
