He doesn’t seem to be crazy, but I probably can’t vote for him anyway. If the Republicans keep the house Kevin, McCarthy and Marjorie Taylor Greene will continue to be speakers of the house.
Judge Cannon forgot to swear in prospective jurors and blocked the defendant ‘s family from attending jury selection, in violation of his Sixth Amendment rights. These errors came days after she was assigned to Trump’s case. w/ @jacq_thomsen https://t.co/BCuvjANt84

So yesterday my Republican Congressman, Mike Lawler appeared at our local town hall to take questions. I decided to go and of course he was an hour late.
There were about 25 people there and I could tell from listening to them speak to each other that most of them were not Republican,
When he finally got there he said he would take questions. He was standing right in front of me so I raised my hand.
I started out by commending him on his efforts to work with Democrats on some issues (which he has done), and then I asked him what his stance was on all of the indictments of our former President.
At first he seemed to try to skirt around the issues as politicians are known to do but then he got down to the answer.
He agreed that January 6th was terrible day for our country and he went on to say that the peaceful transfer of power is a bedrock of our democracy and that anyone who participated in trying to overturn the election should be held accountable.
He touched on some local issues, gun control, and other members of his party. The only name he mentioned was George Santos. He said there were 222 Republicans, soon to be 221 (his words) hinting that Santos would be gone at some point. When he was pressed on why he didn't vote to expel him he gave this reason: In order to expel Santos they need 2/3 of the majority and there were only 5 Republicans including himself that wanted Santos expelled. Since it wouldn't pass, they agreed to vote no if the issue was sent to the ethics committee.
Midway through someone said that he liked what he was hearing from Lawler but that he probably wouldn't vote for him in 2024 because if the Republicans keep the House McCarthy would keep his title of Speaker and all of the crazies would be in full force to which I agreed along with most of the people in the room.
At one point he mentioned how divided the country is and how people do not listen to each other and that it's hurting the country. I said to him that it starts with the politicians. He agreed and said that he tries to talk and listen to everyone.
Overall he seems like a nice guy and he speaks like a politician. I left there feeling differently than when I got there and if we were in a different world I actually would consider voting for him next time around. As the person said at the meeting, I just can't vote for him if it means McCarthy and Marjorie Taylor Greene get to be Speaker of the House.
He spoke for about 2 1/2 hours and then I left because I was starving! I hadn't planned on staying as long as I did.

My granddaughter was at Taylor’s concert last weekend.
I don’t know anyone this time around.
Too early to decide who I like or dislike.
Ha ha ha!
I can dream can’t I? LOL
That would be perfect!
I was not impressed either.

At this point he doesn’t even have to say anything. His followers will say it for him.

Safe to predict plenty of racist threats against her. I've already seen racist comments in Jan. 6 cases.

Awkward moment for Dianne Feinstein at the Appropriations Cmte meeting today. During a roll call vote, her name is called; she starts reading a statement.
