OT:wwwilly, these days it is difficult to have confidence in much, but I have heard from a reliable source, who works with a woman whose husband drives a limo for the assistant to the accountant of the largest odds maker in Vegas, that this year's WORLD SERIES will be a rematch between the YANKEES and the D-BACKS. However, the outcome will be different!
OCTOBER Q&A (cut/paste/keep thread consistent):
1. Can you update us on the status of e-ED project(s) ?
2. Looking out into 2003, what do you consider to be
Hartcourt's #1 opportunity...and...#1 obstacle ?
3. How much is the share distribution cost HRCT?, ETLK?
4. What is HRCT's ownership approximate percentage after the deal is done? What are the ramafications of the reduced ownership to the company?
5. What can you tell about Onse Telecom. We wanted to assist the company in completing a private share placement. Are there more details available in the near future? Thanks Andi
6. It has been stated that HRCT is in the process of consolidating in order to become more viable and, hopefully, focused. What is the anticipated time frame and when might shareholders know just what direction the company is taking? TIA
G/M, EZ2 and MBR - It was suggested to me that another possible reason for the 100/200 share trades on HRCT/ETLK is that the MMs are chumming for trades. Sometimes, the most obvious and simplistic explanation is the best!
EZ2 - I regret the misunderstanding and appreciated you clarifying the post.
EZ2 - There is another possible explanation ( sent to me via P/M ) than the two you mention in your post. It seems the most reasonable of the three. B/T/W, your sarcasm was noted.
An honest question. HRCT and ETLK are not the only penny stocks that I have owned, but they are the only ones that I have repeatedly observed trades of only 100 or 200 shares. Is this a common phenomenon witnessed by others on sub-nickel stocks? I do not particularly accept the MM signal explanation.
Instead of money, maybe we could offer shares in the company. Lets see, at a pps of 0.049 we would need to make the bounty approximately 200,000 shares. I wonder if there will be any takers?
Oh, yea, that would be a total of 100 shares of ETLK traded!
ETLK with more shares traded today than HRCT...who would have ever predicted this?
OT: WOW, are you suggesting that the Doc and....oh, my, what an international scandal that would be. Hey, Doc, get those shoes back on and finalize that " deal."
Geez, I am so starved for HRCT news, that I would even be receptive to hearing about the Doc's love life!
EZ - You have a P/M. eom
OT: OKAY, WHO HAS BEEN TALKING???? LOL
MisterEC - Would like to take your advice, but I lost my pants a long time ago!
Could somebody refresh my memory as to what the color " GREEN "
looks like?
andi - I believe you misunderstood my intent. The post was meant to be humorous since I do not necessarily think that the MMs are holding on to shares because of pending NEWS. I would welcome being wrong.
Article:
China to continue with market reforms
http://www.news24.com/News24/Finance/Economy/0,4186,2-8-25_1261767,00.html
Copenhagen - Asian giant China will sustain its market-opening reforms to create a better business environment and more business opportunities for the world, Chinese Prime Minister Zhu Rongji said here on Monday.
"China is committed to expanding its openness, steadily improving its legal system and creating a fairer, more transparent and more orderly market environment," he told a summit of Asian and European leaders in the Danish capital Copenhagen.
"We will provide other countries or regions in the world... with even better investment environment and more business opportunities," said Zhu, who is also known as China's economic czar for his role in reforming the communist-ruled economy.
Since joining the World Trade Organisation (WTO), China has "completed an overhaul of its legal framework", abolished or revised some laws and regulations as well as introduced new ones, he said.
As of January this year, overall tariff levels for 5 300 items fell from 15.3% to 12%, he said. China's services sector, a multi-billion dollar pie for potential investors, "is being made more accessible at a faster pace," he added.
Zhu said China's gross domestic product expanded 7.8% in the first half of the year from a year ago. Trade volumes rose 12.3% to $270.7bn and foreign direct investments climbed 18.7% to $24.6bn.
"Reforms aimed at building a sound socialist market economy are progressing steadily. We have the resolve, and the capacity to overcome any difficulties that lie ahead and push forward triumphantly China's modernization drive," he said.
With a market of 1.2 billion people, China has become the magnet of investors worldwide, and its cheap goods flood markets around the globe.
Earlier this month, US companies pressed China to rewrite vague regulations, protect intellectual property and remove politics from commercial decision making to comply with WTO rules.
The US Chamber of Commerce said in a report that while China had taken promising steps to transform its economic system, it had made "insufficient progress" in several areas.
Many regulations were vague, giving officials excessive flexibility in deciding how to implement them, the report said.
In his speech, Zhu threw China's weight behind efforts to let the United Nations play a leading role in the peaceful settlement of disputes and in the fight against terrorism.
But he said the fight against terror should involve cooperation in the field of economic development in order to address the "root cause" of the problem.
The trip to Copenhagen for the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) and a subsequent visit to France, Austria and Denmark is being seen as an international swansong for the 74-year-old premier, who is expected to step down next year as part of a series of leadership changes in China.
ASEM groups Brunei, China, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam with the EU's 15 member countries and the European Commission. - Sapa-AFP
andi writes " It looks like the MM´s are waiting for NEWS." Hey, what do you know, for once HRCT shareholders are ahead of the curve. We have been waiting for weeks! LOL
DC100 - Compared to a typical day's volume of zero, 28,000 looks great! lol
OT:IMDS is NOT involved with HRCT. Another high risk company that I have been with for a few years. Very promising medical technology, especially for mammography but with implications for other organ studies.
OT: IMDS making move on PR. eom
OT: Subject: Doctor Dave
Doctor Dave had slept with one of his patients and felt guilty all day long.
No matter how much he tried to forget about it, he couldn't.
The guilt and sense of betrayal was overwhelming.
But every once in a while he'd hear an internal, reassuring voice that said:
"Dave, don't worry about it.
You aren't the first doctor to sleep with one of their patients and you won't be the last.
And you're single. "Just let it go.."
But invariably the other voice would bring him back to reality, whispering:
"Dave, you're a vet.."
OT: Who needs Hawaii when we got manhole covers in NY that do that!
OT: IT appears that the next SH meeting would probably go over better if we held it at a ball park with a varied menu and lots of beer.
Umh, beer this early in the afternoon ( or is it still morning in AZ? )...should we be discussing this? LOL
OT: Tin-berry, I do believe that in Arizona it's more like pigs feet than hot dogs.
Oh, now I see how it works, but by the time I digest it fully, we will have changed directions once again...thank heaven we have already been through the Pet Rock and Shrunken Head fads.
G/M, EZ - In spite of my current reasoning, I am still holding
and will continue to do so however, if I were a Vulcan logic would dictate otherwise. But if Tampa Bay can take 2 out of 3 from my Yankees, anything is possible! GO HRCT !!!
WHAT MUSIC??????
EZ - I do not " totally disagree, " but I do believe you are not attributing enough significance to HRCT's failed promises as a major causative factor in the low pps. If one goes back ( as I have )and reads the company's PRs for the past few years and then views it's follow through, you will see a pattern of unfulfilled objectives. Most intelligent investors will do this
before buying equities...it's called DD. Although I admit the
OTC-BB is having a more difficult time, a company's pattern of being unable to fulfill objectives would result in it being viewed as a " poor " risk by most investors in ANY MARKET! The trick in re-assessing a company one owns is to be as objective
as possible...Although this is nothing new, most are not willing to do it.
Although some LONGS wish to believe that those of us who have started to question things and verbalize our doubts ( after 3 years of holding )are doing so to lower the pps for personal gain, this is simply not true. The reality is, HRCT's history of setting it's shareholders up, whether intentional or not, for repeated disappointment has been the most significant factor in it's basement share price.
DC100 - HRCT's days of running on news are over. They know it.
Very few LONGS have the confidence to continue buying, even with the release of news, because of the lack of materialization of most, if not all, past ' deals.' So, unless they truly have an ace up their sleeve, we are not likely to see any more meaningless PRs. IMO
Modern day " Wind Talkers!" eom
EZ - I realize that these 200 share trades on HRCT and ETLK are not ' legitimate, ' but I do not necessarily accept that they " signal " anything of significance. I guess time will tell.
Yes, I can...NO VOLUME !! eom
OT: Something to do while we await the next " HRCT Revelation. "
http://cartalk.cars.com/Survey/Results/Psychographics/
MBR - Am I seeing correctly? Are you really responding to a message from Christmas Eve, 2001? Man, I wish I had access to your file system! LOL
OT: Well, I guess that there really aren't any certainties in the world...except for apple pie, parenthood, and baseball.
OT: wwwilly, for many, including myself, an essential component of friendship is trust. Unfortunately, in my years as a HRCT shareholder, I have discovered that there are a number of wolves in sheep clothing.
I have always found you to be one of the more direct. Good luck and stay well.
Unbelievable position for a company that allegedly had first mover advantage in several areas. I have asked myself many times how, if HRCT was so positioned, did not one of them become successful? Heck, probability theory alone should have given us at least one successful operation! Smart moving ' operations ' to China. I guess they were able to see the writing on the wall. Sad, so very sad.
mmayr - I cannot understand why the company is unresponsive to our repeated requests for information on their short and long term strategies. I know the pps is beyond their direct control, but informing us of planned adjustments and changes in direction is not.
On a personal note. Mark, your focus and rationality over the last few days was both noted and appreciated...thanks!
