Exactly. What is called the "Right Wing" is actually more like the center today. The Democratic Party has just moved very far to the left, progressive view and has thus pulled the center more to the left.
We need more Zel Miller's in the congress these days to pull the Democratic party out of the extreme left.

So true. I believe that a representative, constitutional republic is the model for all countries on the planet.
-faz
Also:
The United States of America is one of the oldest constitutional republics in the world. According to James Woodburn, in The American Republic and Its Government, "the constitutional republic with its limitations on popular government is clearly involved in the Constitution, as seen in the election of the President, the election of the Senate and the appointment of the Supreme Court." That is, the ability of the people to choose officials in government is checked by not allowing them to elect Supreme Court justices. Woodburn says that in a republic, as distinguished from a democracy, the people are not only checked in choosing officials but also in making laws.
- Woodburn, James Albert. The American Republic and Its Government: An Analysis of the Government of the United States, G. P. Putnam, 1903, pp. 58-59
Yep. Democratic implies majority rules and that is not the case with the United States of America.
Another way of looking at the United States of America would be a representative republic.
In the end, I like to call it a constitutional republic because that document is the cornerstone of the greatest country on the planet.
-faz
nope, in fact, we are a constitutional republic...not a democracy at all. Funny how quickly people forget that.
-faz
I am with ya makita...bring back the loof shack!
As for the tailings pile, I am beginning to question if it is real. There has been no PR or any indication that the pile has been sold, moved, etc. For all we know it might just be a big pile of dirt.
I hope that there are brighter says ahead for this stock.
-faz
Very nice:
"With the acquisition of two operating mines in Australia, Northgate's total metal production in 2008 is forecast to be over 400,000 ounces of gold and 64.4 million pounds of copper, all of which is unhedged, and will be sold at spot prices giving us maximum exposure in the current robust metal price environment. With successful securityholder votes behind us on the Perseverance transaction and the upcoming resource update we expect to announce at Young-Davidson, Northgate has become a multi-mine, mid-tier, gold producer with production platforms in two excellent mining jurisdictions from which we can generate additional growth opportunities through exploration and acquisition."
-faz
Have a good one!
-faz
Yep, they will have a field day with him. I love how he told all of the people who put him into the Senate that he was not going to run for President, but rather be their Senator.
Ouch...couldn't even get that straight. He has been running since day 1 in the Senate.
-faz
So true. I had all my energy into Thompson, but I have a feeling that he is going to be the VP on Romney's ticket once Mitt gets the nod. My opinion only. I will hold my nose, but I will vote for Romney only because the alternative of Hillary or Obama would be a disaster.
I think that the two presidential tickets are going to be:
Romney/Thompson
vs.
Clinton/Obama
JMHO.
-faz
So true!!! I love this board. I have posted before and really just check in from time to time and have a read these days. This is a little slice of sanity in an insane world!
-faz
Yeah, I think he has the charisma that any of the other candidates lack. Maybe Romney is about as smooth talking, but that is it.
I don't think we will be in for a real problem if he wins as the Republicans are going to hammer him on experience. That is Obama's biggest weakness. It has been a long time since a Senator has one the Presidency...especially as one as young as Obama.
-faz
Very true, but it is the only way for them to win. The women vote hasn't gone to Hillary as expected, so they need the race card to be played.
I have been watching this for a while in SC. The Clintons knew they were not going to win. Hillary flew out before the night was over. She never had any intention of winning. And if she wasn't going to win, she needed to lose bad and by a wide margin of the black vote. Now they can pull the race card very subtly and turn Obama into the "black" candidate.
This is all very different from the Republican campaigns. They are all trying to differentiate themselves by how conservative their record is, whereas the Dems are all about attacking each other, not the issues.
Can you imagine waking up this time next year and seeing a Clinton sworn into office? God help us all!
-faz
It is all part of the strategy. Both Hillary and Obama are nearly identical candidates on the issues, all libs are. So, what do the Clintons need to do to win? Debate Obama on the issues? Can't do that so they need to turn this into a black vs. white campaign.
Can you imagine if a Republican was out saying the same things that Bubba has been saying?
-faz
Bill and Hillary were hoping that Obama won, and won big tonight. The reason for this is so that they can begin to marginalize him as the "black" candidate. What the Clinton's want to do is make it look like Obama won because of all the black votes. By doing this, they are hoping that it will bring the white voters over to Hillary. There is a news story below that is already starting to do this.
http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2008/01/bubba-obama-is.html
Bill and especially Hillary are very crafty and are engaging in the politics of personal destruction. They have already targeted Obama and now they are going to try to polarize the issue into Black vs. White.
I don't think it matters who wins between those two, I think that the Republican base is going to be very upset this time around and will catapult the conservatives to victory.
Just my opinion though.
-faz
Incorrect...Bill and hillary are loving this tonight...it could not have worked any better for them.

brikk,
Thanks for the pics. Reminds me of the days when I used to work the rigs.

US MMS Announces Chukchi Sea Oil, Gas Lease Sale For Feb 6
1-2-08 5:57 PM EST
http://news.morningstar.com/news/ViewNews.asp?article=/DJ/200801021757DOWJONESDJONLINE000654_univ.xml&Cat=IndSect
WASHINGTON -(Dow Jones)- The U.S. Minerals Management Service announced Wednesday the final notice for an oil and gas lease sale in the Chukchi Sea off the northwestern Alaskan coast.
The Chukchi Sea - considered one of the last frontiers of oil and gas exploration provinces in the U.S. - is estimated to hold 15 billion barrels of recoverable oil resources. The lease sale - to be held Feb. 6 - is the first in more than two decades in the sea, and includes royalty suspensions on production subject to price thresholds.
Conservation groups have condemned the lease sale because of the environmental sensitivity of the region, saying exploration could disturb subsistence living by natives.
However, MMS Director Randall Luthi said the lease rules establish "a good balance, and will allow companies to explore this intriguing frontier area while still protecting the resources important to the coastal residents.
"All leases will be subject to MMS's existing regulations that include extensive requirements for safety, drilling operations, and pollution prevention, plus regulations of other agencies protecting marine mammals, endangered species and air and water quality," Luthi said in a statement.
Royal Dutch Shell PLC (RDSA), is among the petroleum majors that have expressed interest in drilling in the area.
The Chukchi Sea Sale 193 area contains about 29.7 million acres offshore Alaska from north of Point Barrow to northwest of Cape Lisburne. The sale area extends from about 25 or 50 to 200 miles offshore.

1.24's getting tapped. Congratz to everyone who had the patience and the stones to stay in on the dips. Hopefully you all added more if you could have!
$2.50...here we come!!
-faz
17's lasted about 2 seconds...18's on the tape!!!
Good Morning all...looks like the news has been well received!!!
13's are almost through.
Best of luck to all!
-faz
ASK is getting crushed!!
Love this line of the PR:
"A second 4000 meter rated LARS is expected to be delivered to Perry as soon as factory acceptance testing has been completed. The second LARS will also be sold to Veolia with a Perry ROV. Deep Down expects to sell additional LARS units of this class with an average minimum sales price of approximately $1.4 million each, depending on individual custom-engineered features and capabilities as requested by our clients."
Looks like they are looking at at least one more sale with the potential for more.
Like what I am seeing. Good movement on the PPS today as well. Had a gut check at .90 but with oil flirting with $100 a barrel, this is just a no brainer play for me.
-faz
Also, the whole interview that Berman gave was scripted. He was in no way speaking off the cuff in order to cover his backside.
-faz
Unfortunately he is not pumping RSDS. I have zero faith that Berman will ever generate actual, honest revenue in any venture. The PPS of this stock will doubtfully ever increase unless Berman actually starts running this company the way it should be.
-faz
They also have a profile on RSDS:
http://www.otcvoice.com/profile1_rsds.htm
-faz
I have since concluded after hearing this audio clip that Berman is a complete and utter idiot. First off, his fundamental knowledge of the Uranium mining industry is so unbelievably weak that anyone on this board knows more that he does.
This is such a joke pump job it makes me sick. I especially like that he did not mention RSDS at anytime during this 9 minute clip.
I like how he is going to try to generate revenues by the end of Q4 2008. Sounds pretty familiar. Oh, yeah, and this little gem: "The reason to buy AUMN is that the share price is undervalued and does not reflect the true value of the assets." What a joke this man is.
I am in Houston right now and have half a mind to stop by and visit Mr. Berman.
-faz
Funny ting for me is that I am not surprised at all that this happened. Hope everyone has a great Christmas!!!!!
-faz
Bri,
I really have not given it a thought, but I think if done properly, it might work out. I think he needs to crap both of the company names and move to name that is better suited to the industry. I would be curious to see what he has to say.
Hope you and all your family have a great Christmas!
-faz
15'2 are up, lets see how much of a run can be made at em.
-faz
Loaded up on all the 4's I could get...didn't fill about 2.5 million of my order. Bummer.
Lets let this thing run!!!
-faz
Got quiet for a second there, now some good volume coming through. Just need to break the 15's!!!!!
-faz
I think you are correct. What I have difficulty with is that it took Berman a whole year to acquire, permit, begin drilling, etc. on the claims for RSDS. Now he has two companies that have a nearly identical strategic vision for 2008. How in the world is Berman going to be able to focus on running two "now separate" companies when he couldn't even take care of one? If Berman was a smart guy, which there is no evidence of, he would combine the two companies, apologize to the shareholders for leading us on, and then get to the business of growing a company. That would be the smart play, however, I think the odds of that are very slim. The more likely play is as follows:
1. Put out PR's that indicate unachievable goals (NI 43-101 reports, Revenues promised, acquisitions, JV's etc.)
2. Dilute the hell out of the companies through 504 sales (while the whole time trying to reassure shareholders that this is not dilution but rather creation of liquidity for the shareholders.)
3. Perform a R/S on at least one, maybe both companies (this will be done because berman is unable to raise the share price buy attracting buyers to the stock through legitimate business practices and demonstrating growth. Therefore, the quick way to raise PPS will be through a R/S. Thanks B-man!)
4. Continue to drill to depths that are unlikely to find uranium and then PR that RSDS will drill deeper next time. (After getting that advice, he will then proceed not to drill to those depths.)
5. Lastly, Berman will feel like he has accomplished so much for the shareholders that he will proceed to reward himself with a huge salary.
Now I know why I got into this company...5 really great points as to why we should invest in both AUMN and RSDS!!!
What a joke Berman is.
The best line of the last PR is the following gem:
"The Board and Management feel that the present price per share of RSDS is not reflective of the Company’s assets and potential."
Ok Mr. Berman, what PPS would you say accurately reflects the value of this company? Seems like the market did just fine in accurately determining the value of the PPS a few months ago. Ah, that's right...you sir decided to interfere with the market's valuation of PPS reflecting the value of the company by flooding the market with shares. Hmmm...not sure this guy is living in reality. Reminds of a lot of people I know who continually stand on their heads and tell the rest of the world that they are the ones upside down.
Done with my rant for the day. Good luck to everyone here and have a great Christmas!!!
-faz
Nice play fratboy!!! This is a great stock that I believe will continue to exceed expectations.
We just need to crack .015 and we are off to the races.
-faz
What we are seeing is massive devaluation not unlike we are seeing with the dollar.
I am now going to call RSDS's CEO...Rick "The Cash Machine" Berman.
Unfortunately, our pockets are the ATM.
-faz
I like your exclamation points there. Funny thing is, I am not surprised. LOL!
I imagine that they will see .0001 before seeing .10 IMO.

NEWS FROM NORTHGATE!!!!
http://biz.yahoo.com/bw/071220/20071220006187.html?.v=1
Very complete report.
Northgate Announces Additional Young-Davidson Drill Results - Drill Hole YD07-42B Returns 46.80 Grams per Tonne Gold Over 9.1 Metres
Thursday December 20, 6:35 pm ET
VANCOUVER, British Columbia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Northgate Minerals Corporation (TSX: NGX - News) (AMEX: NXG - News) today announced assay results for 13 additional diamond drill holes at its Young-Davidson property near the town of Matachewan, Ontario.
DRILLING HIGHLIGHTS
- Hole YD07-42B, on the eastern flank of the Lower Boundary
zone, intersected 46.80 grams per tonne (g/t) gold over
9.1 metres (m).
- Hole YD07-53, also targeting the Lower Boundary zone,
intersected 80.8m of 2.68 g/t gold including 3.47 g/t gold
over 18.0m. This hole is situated below and about 100m
further to the west than any other intersection in the area.
- Hole YD07-50, drilled on the western flank of the Lower YD
zone, returned results of 5.54 g/t gold over 8.5m.
- The results of these latest holes are being incorporated into
a resource update for the project, which is expected to be
completed in January 2008.
Ken Stowe, President and Chief Executive Officer, remarked, "The exploration team at Young-Davidson continues to achieve outstanding results. The continuity of the mineralization in the four main zones is excellent, which supports our concept of low-cost, large-scale bulk underground mining for the project. Given the drilling success in 2007, we expect to see another significant increase in gold resources for the project once the new resource update is completed next month, which will have a positive impact on the Pre-Feasibility Study for the project."
ub2,
Welcome aboard! I think you got in just in time to see a bounce above .20!!!

.15's getting touched!!!
might see some big movement here!!!
