Thanks for recommending me "Zelda" on XXII board
I am concentrating on US /Canada play but after doing some quick research on ZLDAF I am going to buy some shares just to keep an eye on it first .
MGC sounds interesting too.
Also one stock I own I forgot to mentioned is TRTC
I saw that "will remain operationally independent of Aurora.

so it will be like a subsidiary ?? so I don't think it will change much for XXII but it is confusing we sold our shares ownership but retain the rights/agreements or licences or signs new ones?
The companies say that Anandia's cannabis testing services will remain operationally independent of Aurora.
In other words???
I have seen comments from few people on Big T boards......
They think that Marlboro Marijuana will be PM long term saving grace.
Problem is that pot is not addictive the same way nicotine is, who is going to smoke 10 joints or more a day?
Marijuana Legalization will help the tobacco companies but will never replace nicotine so I see a middle ground where they will have to sell VLN cigarettes and compensate their loss with marijuana and hemp business. So I think big T will eventually buy or merge with the Marijuana /Hemp companies .
Big T already know how to package distribute and market their products which can be apply to marijuana . They will adapt…
Out with killer tobacco In with marijuana .!!
I am already invested in some Marijuana and Hemp stocks and just waiting now …..
Aurora Cannabis buying Anandia Laboratories in deal valued at $115M

Vaping essays: E-cigarette sellers offering scholarships
A growing number of e-cigarette and vaporizer sellers have started offering college scholarships as a way to get their brands listed on university websites and to get students to write essays about the potential benefits of vaping.
The tactic is taken from a method that was once believed to improve a site's ranking in search results, and it has successfully landed vaping brands on the sites of some of the nation's best-known universities, including Harvard. It also has drawn criticism that the scholarships are a thinly disguised ploy to attract young customers.
The scholarships, ranging from $250 to $5,000, mostly involve essay contests that ask students to write about the dangers of tobacco or whether vaping could be a safer alternative. At least one company asks applicants to write about different types of e-cigarettes and which one they recommend. Some seek papers in support of medical marijuana.

Re: Docket No. FDA-2017-N-6189 for Tobacco Product Standard for Nicotine Level of Certain Tobacco Products
Philip Morris International Inc. (PMI) submits these comments in response to the Food and Drug Administration's ("FDA") Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking ("ANPRM") on developing a product standard to set a maximum nicotine level for certain tobacco products.
Given the number, scope, magnitude, and subject matter of the questions identified in this ANPRM, we respectfully request that FDA extend the 90-day comment period by an additional 90 days. The issues raised by this ANPRM are also intertwined with other regulatory actions that FDA is considering as part of its comprehensive regulatory plan announced in July 2017, including an ANRPM''for regulation of flavors in tobacco products (Docket No. FDA-2017-N-6565).
We appreciate your prompt consideration of this request.
Sincerely,
Germana Barba Vice President Regulatory Strategy & Engagement
Philip
Yea I had the same feeling … what is this turn around all about??
Obviously you got sniffed out at the office and Henry gave you the boot
My opinion on today's news, while it's great to put pressure on Gottlieb and the FDA I think if it was up to Gottlieb it would have been done already but it's not....There are too many moving parts, many companies involved, lot of money and politics and regulations too...so it will happened and if we get lucky it will happened even before the dates that have been mentioned and proposed. I don't think the FDA will wait another 6 months or more but only IMHO...
In another news someone was loading up on shares at 2.12 all afternoon!! :)
We urge FDA to issue a proposed rule within six months of its ANPRM (by September 16, 2018) and a final rule six months later (by March 16, 2019). We also urge that implementation of the rule be no later than the oneyear period provided for in Section 907 of the Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act, which would allow the rule to be implemented by March of 2020.
Awesome! Thanks for posting...it's just the beginning!
THANKS ESAD
just waiting for the outcome...….
Some commenters probably work for BT anyway...
I like this one...
….
"I oppose reducing nicotine in cigarettes:
1) It is well known that nicotine, itself, is harmless. Why reduce reduce nicotine content when there are so many other constituents in cigarettes considered toxic?"'
Well Perker, best of luck to you!
So now that you won't be directly affiliated with the Cie will you be freer to say more?
Well I guess we won't see a firework anymore on July 4th, maybe July 14 for bastille day! LOL. in any case I am here for the long term...
Thanks for everything
I think I have already read about it somewhere and it did puzzled me ....
"Next on the agenda..Taking nicotine out of tobacco will change the taste. Can't wait for that one".
You're right, a very stupid article ...
NYC sees marijuana revenue stream
May 17, 2018
New York state would gain $435.7M annually in tax revenue for legalized weed, while New York City would get about $336M, according to NYC Comptroller Scott Stringer.
"This is a new revenue stream... This is going to impact the kinds of resources we'll have to invest in education, to invest in healthcare."
Currently, legislation to legalize marijuana use throughout New York is pending in Albany.

education
Guys guys!! I was just quoting a comment! you all know I am long on XXII but the comment from somebody else related to the article
Made me wonder if there could be a way for BT to maybe not circumvent our patents but try to delay everything and just wait until some expired, as explained in the quote...
I guess the message I meant to convey got lost in translation.. lol
The quote was ...
" similar to the pharmaceutical industry, Company B may learn Company A's technologies from the USPTO website (published patents with detailed information). Company B can reengineering the Company A's process/product and try all sorts of things, as long as they do not commercialize the resulting products/technology that are covered under the Company A's patents. As soon as the Company A's patents expire, nothing can prevent the Company B from launching the product immediately.
Maybe all the big tobacco companies have tried and succeeded in making VLN cigarettes already. All they need to do right now is wait for XXII's patents to expire, which starts this year.
Of course, this is all my imagination/guess. Welcome any expert/IP attorneys to chime in here.
15 May 2018,"
This last comment on the article makes me wonder ??
thoughts Anybody??
"XXII'S defense about the high barriers of their patent family seems to be less solid.
I am not a patent attorney, but my guess is that similar to the pharmaceutical industry, Company B may learn Company A's technologies from the USPTO website (published patents with detailed information). As usual thanks for your insight Esad
Great! thanks for posting.
So if the FDA is backed by the government (basically the government asking the FDA, no doubt of the outcome and time frame will be shorter....
All great in XXII land !
great thank for the update... all of you.
Does that mean also no 3 months extension???
Interesting cause they are both in the business of Killing people ...
(I am being somehow facetious here )
For at least the past two years, Altria Group Inc., the corporate parent of such brands as Marlboro cigarettes and Skoal smokeless tobacco, joined hundreds of other businesses as exhibitors at the National Rifle Association’s annual meeting.
This year, as the NRA gathers in Dallas, Big Tobacco isn’t slated to be among the exhibitors. Altria officials didn’t respond to repeated requests for comment about why.

Sale of E-Cigarettes to Minors Prompts FDA to Light a Fire under the Industry
May 1, 2018
By Gugan Kaur —
On April 24, 2018, FDA released a statement regarding new enforcement actions and a Youth Tobacco Prevention Plan aimed to help stop minors from using e-cigarette products.
Under the Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act (“Tobacco Control Act”), a “tobacco product” is defined as “any product made or derived from tobacco that is intended for human consumption, including any component, part, or accessory of a tobacco product.” The Tobacco Control Act gave FDA the express authority to regulate cigarettes, cigarette tobacco, roll-your-own tobacco, and smokeless tobacco. Any other “tobacco product” could be regulated by FDA only if the Agency issued regulations “deeming” such products to be subject to the Tobacco Control Act. As discussed in our previous post, on May 10, 2016, FDA published the final “deeming regulation” asserting authority over all tobacco products meeting the broad statutory definition of a “tobacco product.” This authority extends to electronic nicotine delivery systems (ENDS), which may be described with terms such as vapes, vaporizers, vape pens, hookah pens, e-cigarettes, or e-pipes. ENDS products typically use a liquid (“e-liquid”) that contains nicotine. This e-liquid is heated into an aerosol that can be inhaled by the user. ENDS products may be manufactured to look like traditional tobacco products or may resemble items such as pens or USB drives.
FDA cites the following CDC statistics regarding the use of ENDS products by minors:
More than 2 million middle and high school students were current users of e-cigarettes in 2016
11% of high school and 4.3% of middle school students were current users of e-cigarettes in 2016
E-cigarette use rose from 1.5% to 16.0% among high school students and from 0.6% to 5.3% among middle school students from 2011 to 2015
We have previously discussed FDA’s comprehensive plan for tobacco and nicotine regulation announced last July (here). FDA’s most recent enforcement activity is more narrowly focused on the use of ENDS products by minors, and singles out one ENDS product in particular. In its April 24 statement, FDA outlined a series of enforcement and regulatory steps.
First, FDA announced that on April 6, 2018 it initiated a large-scale, undercover, nationwide blitz that will continue until the end of April 2018. This blitz focuses on the sale of e-cigarettes (specifically products under the JUUL brand) to minors at both brick-and-mortar and online retailers. The Agency’s efforts have already revealed numerous violations according to the FDA. This blitz, in addition to other compliance checks, has resulted in FDA issuing 40 warning letters for the illegal sale of e-cigarettes, specifically JUUL products, to minors.
Second, FDA contacted eBay regarding several listings for JUUL products on the website. According to FDA, eBay removed the listings and voluntarily implemented measures to prevent against re-listing of the items. It is possible that other online retailers with e-cigarette products, specifically JUUL products, may receive similar communications from the Agency.
Third, on April 24, 2018, FDA sent an official request for information to JUUL Labs, requesting the company submit information, such as documents related to product marketing; research on the health, toxicological, behavioral or physiologic effects of the products, including youth initiation and use; whether certain product design features, ingredients or specifications appeal to different age groups; and youth-related adverse events and consumer complaints associated with the products. FDA is planning on sending additional letters to other manufacturers and has asserted that companies that do not comply will be in violation of the law and subject to enforcement.
Fourth, the Agency announced that it is planning to take enforcement actions against companies that are marketing products in a way that is misleading to minors.
Finally, FDA is also continuing its efforts on science-based campaigns to educate minors about the dangers of all tobacco products, including e-cigarettes.
FDA Commissioner Gottlieb makes clear the focus of the Agency is ENDS products marketed and sold to minors. For adults, FDA believes that ENDS products may offer a potentially lower risk alternative for adult smokers, providing them with access to nicotine without the additional risks associated with the combustion of tobacco. However, the Agency states the viability of ENDS products serving this purpose is undermined if they attract minors.
The steps outlined above are just the first of those the FDA plans to pursue as part of the Youth Tobacco Prevention Plan, and additional steps will be announced in the future. FDA’s message to all tobacco product manufacturers and retailers is clear: the Agency is watching closely.

lol I meant explode , sorry sometimes my french gets in the way
Explode or expose???
yes! but if they agree with the extension, watch below.....but that won't happens .......
Yes a lot of things happening on the last few days and today...
I think the downward pressure is over now.
I don't think the FDA will grant big T extension, that will show weakness
and the FDA has ALL the data In hands to make the call...and they know big T has nothing and their are just buying time and when the 3 months are over they will come up with another story of theirs to get more time.
Too much pressure on them... about to explose!
Happy 4.20 day!
How legal weed reached a tipping point in the Trump era
Former House Speaker John Boehner joined the board of a marijuana company, saying his thinking about the drug had "evolved."
President Trump assured Sen. Cory Gardner of Colorado that his administration would not interfere with the state's legal cannabis industry.
New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo is laying the groundwork for his state to legalize adult use.
There will be a lot to celebrate on 4.20.

New rules in effect for city hookah lounges
By Spectrum News NY1 | April 17, 2018 @9:35 AM

The city's hookah lounges are dealing with new regulations that officially kicked in Monday.
Under the rules, bars and restaurants won't be issued a hookah permit unless 50 percent of sales come from the smoking products.
The minimum age to smoke hookah has been raised from 18 to 21.
Establishments are also now required to display signage warning about the dangers of hookah.
The CDC says hookah carries many of the same risks as cigarette smoking.
City Councilman Ydanis Rodriguez helped introduce these new measures.
Speaking on "Mornings on 1" Tuesday Rodriguez says looking to protect people's health while addressing the needs of business owners.
"Right now what we’re trying to do – if anyone wants to use hookah, they should go to a hookah bar. But a family that wants to go to eat, they should not be exposed to the inhale that happens in those restaurants. So, I’m here to support business owners, for those if 50 percent of the revenue comes from hookah – go and ask for a permit," Rodriguez said.
Businesses have six months to comply with the new hookah rules.

Trump administration abandons crackdown on legal marijuana
The Trump administration is abandoning a Justice Department threat to crack down on recreational marijuana in states where it is legal, a move that could enable cannabis businesses in California and other states that have legalized pot to operate without fear of federal raids and prosecution.
President Trump personally directed the abrupt retreat, which came at the behest of Republican Sen. Cory Gardner of Colorado. White House officials confirmed the policy shift Friday. Trump did not inform Atty. Gen. Jeff Sessions in advance of the change in policy, an almost unheard of undermining of a Cabinet official.

Great!
and yes Jeff Sessions must go and be replaced..
Great story thanks
I guess you can sue or try to sue the FDA....
Got Skim Milk? Dairy Farmer Sues FDA Over its Skim Milk Requirements
April 10, 2018
By Gugan Kaur & Riëtte van Laack —
On April 5, 2018, the Institute for Justice (IJ), on behalf of South Mountain Creamery (South Mountain), filed a complaint against the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, stating that the Agency is violating First Amendment rights by requiring that South Mountain label its milk, from which fat has been removed, as “imitation skim milk” or “imitation milk.”

You are right, Even if they reject iQOS, on the Nicotine front all is well and Done I think.
(Too early for me today to think str8)
wouldn't that entail more and longer delay?
"It is very possible the FDA may reject this application which in my eyes would be very good for XXII. A rejection would put the tobacco industry back to the drawing board."
Talking about Hemp....
As shown in the TV exclusive, Hemp, Inc. partners with tobacco and other farmers throughout the state who are looking to introduce hemp into their crop rotation. Hemp, Inc.'s goal this year is to plant up to 25,000 acres of hemp in North Carolina, which is more than what the whole country planted last year. Many farmers across America are seeking new ways to keep the family farm profitable. The hemp crop can produce a profit margin much greater than that of tobacco in North Carolina.

"Not clueless about the value of the company, just the FDA mentality here"
I got that.....
I do really think we are being held hostage by the FDA. (but in a good way) while they are still negotiating and /or are dotting the i's and crossing the t's.
"The FDA is negotiating with big tobacco and using us as a threat? "
"The FDA cannot outlaw smoking. They can regulate the nicotine content"
Do you really think the FDA put a gun on the head of Big Ts and say either you regulate yourself and lower the amount of nicotine in cigarettes and come up with a non addictive product?
Not a chance, big T is not to be trusted and will only drag their feet...
The right amount level of nicotine (to get to a non addictive point) is still needs to be evaluated...and only the FDA can come up (in all honesty)with that.
Now do you think XXII management is fully aware of what is going on inside the FDA or just kept in the semi dark??
If YOU Esad are clueless......and I think I can speak for most of the posters here, We are even more clueless than you are.....
Maybe Perker has some clue :)
"Any of you folks want to guess what the hell is going on because
right now I am pretty clueless."
France ...continue..
According to Seita estimates, the rise in tobacco prices has led to a drop in sales, reports Les Echos . In March, when the price of a package increased by one euro on average and two euros for rolling tobacco, deliveries from retailers fell by 19%.
The drop in sales had already begun in February and is expected to continue even as the 10-euro package is announced for 2020.
