There will be a multitude of different companies for all sorts of applications. Be it Medical, entertainment or military. Many bluechips that are behind in the race, failed with their tech outright, or simply never got started, are now waiting to buy up the smaller companies rather try and catch up to the others or throw countless millions into R&D.
The 1st prototype for a marketable smart contact lens, being produced by EPGL Med, with a specific application, and made of silicon hydrogel, is due out this year.
I would think you have some time yet. They don't appear to be in any rush.
Good article about more science being put to use for smart contact lenses. They are a long ways out, but who knows. There are many, many companies clawing to get into this coming market. Some are further ahead than others.

Fortunately, for EPGL, the technology pretty much sells itself to those who have studied the coming market and what companies have what. Their current partner certainly thinks so. As for WSGR, they are well aware of the smart contact lens field and how they want to advance EPGL's tech. Their hand prints are already on specific progressions. Lot of companies, along with their investors, including EPGL, stand to do very, very well. You are right. Folks will soon discover what gem they have.
Having personally talked with WSGR and what they think about the company, the technology and how it relates to their current relationships with future partners, VC's and the FDA. They have a game plan that will take them from point a to point z. They are more than comfortable doing what it takes to get there. Their process of taking on shares of companies they represent has proven to be extremely profitable for all involved.
One of the main benefits of being proactive in a company you're invested in, is getting out and talking with those involved. Having met with Hayes, Markus, WSGR, etc, they have my full trust and confidence.
Good luck.

They just finished their latest capital raise where they raised nearly 4 million dollars, where they can now go full steam ahead, now that they are 'Live'.

Nah. Its a company that really doesn’t have a shot.
Their lens does not yet meet the standard required for current commercialization.
Their lens is made of silicone rubber (elastofilcon A) which is not ideal for hydration and oxygenation on the human eye and the structure of the designed substrate presents clarity issues and as constructed, so basically, it can never work within silicone hydrogel
That’s all they got. I really don’t see them moving forward in any time frame that would allow them to have any success.
Remember Sony's widely reported patent app for it's smart lens?

It got denied as well. Got its Final rejection notice last december, yet they are still trying.
As long as the USPTO can make money on appeals and and reexamination, anybody can keep trying.

This board is about the technology and industry that EPGL Med currently resides in. Wether or not somebody believes the company is real or if ithe company that is absorbing it will become operational once it leaves the public markets is irrelevant to the mission of this board. That type of discussion is for the company's main ihub board. If the company whom is absorbing EPGL fails to materialize, then the company will not be featured on this board. For now, there is no evidence that it won't materialize. Only evidence saying it will.
EPGL MED
Elastic Circuit patent and all if it's art.
ELASTIC CIRCUIT PATENT W/ART
We are now starting to see all sorts of companies coming up with applications for smart contact lenses. The amount of applications will end up being endless. To get the applications into the circuitry, the circuitry has to survive the manufacturing process that all silicon hydrogels must go through. So far, EPGL has the only technology to do so with the elastic circuit patent. not to mention all of their other intellectual property.
There is good reason that EPGL is mentioned among the main, yet small group of smart lens innovators.
Its the way its always been. And thats whats been on the title page since day one. It just wast in big bold letters like it is now. It was only dealing with that one company because thats what the posters were more focused on and they weren't posting on anything else, so i updated the page to make it more inviting to discuss all the major players.
This is a big race with a ton of players. We are going to start seeing all sorts of ideas emerging. There are really an endless amount of applications that be used in smart lenses. But for now, they are just ideas all in development. Its no wonder that this is going to be a multi billion dollar industry in the future.
Right now, EPGL is a leader in technology that powers the lens as well as technology that allows circuitry to effectively and safely be mass manufactured into hydro silicon contact lenses.
The technology outlined in the patent has been proven to work in a lab. That their elastic circuit can safely and effectively go through the manufacturing process of silicon hydrogel lenses. They are now working on a prototype lens with specific technology within an elastic circuit, designed to perform a specific task for another company. While the circuit itself will work, they need to make sure the technology that the circuit is carrying for the company they are building it for, works as well.

Johnson & Johnson Vision Announces Revolutionary Contact Lens Innovation with ACUVUE OASYS® with Transitions® Light Intelligent Technology™
Developed in strategic partnership with Transitions Optical, this one-of-a-kind contact lens corrects vision and adapts to changing light conditions
EPGL is a start up company that is currently working on a prototype using their patented technology, which is real, with a major blue chip. The elastic circuit technology has been proven to work. Now they are working on the prototype of a smart lens, with circuitry that will have to perform a specific task, as outlined by the blue chip, embedded onto a lens successfully. Not just a 'blank' circuit that was proven to survive the manufacturing process.
Many companies working to put BioMems inside the human body. That company, EPGL, could partner with anyone of them to incorporate their leading smart lens technology into the partners product's. As time passes, more and more companies are looking for other companies to help them bring their smart technology to life.
So far, of the major players involved….EPGL Med, Google, Sensimed, Samsung, only EPGL has the technology that can get ANY technology safely manufactured onto a smart lens with it's Elastic Circuit technology.
For anybody invested in the above companies, I would recommend visiting those company boards. If you want to discuss the technology of this industry on a whole, then by all means stick around.
