DABOSS...
It is the selling by all those nervous nellies who get a knot in the pit of their stomachs every time the pps of this stocks goes one penny up or down...
EDIG gave out two hand outs at CES. One was titled "Consumer products" and had the picture of 6 MP3s with a table giving a brief explanation of each product...
The second was a sheet with bold lettering announcing the introduction of 0-1000 and its availability for sale, with delivery date scheduled for Feb.15, 2003...
These items are being sold as we speak. They are sold by EDIG in the U.S market on EDIG website. They are being sold in ASIA and EUROPE by Digital Way. And they are being sold as "Clones" by other "Customers" under their names...
When was the last time EDIG had this many products being sold?
They should generate revenues which were non-existant before...
Then there are the "Solid" and confirmed relationships with IFE, ECLIPSE, and others that are in the catagory of "Potential" sources of revenue in the not too distant future...
The pps of this stock is where it should be considering all the factors that bring pressure on it at present. And, it will respond to some sort of confirmation that this company is making enough money to survive till its technology is "Sold" in products as ubiquitous as the ECLIPSE applications which will validate the question does EDIG technology have the potential for being a "Global Standard" which everyone hoped it would be when they bought into this stock...
What I came back from CES was that the company is on the path of being able to generate sufficient money to keep the doors open at present. And, we should see this in the next quarterly report...
The revenues should be significantly improved with the advent of marketing of ECLIPSE and IFE products, and others which we have not heard about as yet...
I have my buy order in. I don't know about you...

Sorry; when you click on the site you get the eclipse home page.
Click on "Products" on top of page, then go to AV CENTER CONTROL SYSTEM and click on that. You should see the MULTIPLEX ENTERTAINMENT CENTER ON WHEELS which shows the VIDEO screen that has become the standard in most of the high end auto systems shown at the North Hall...

Check this one out...

I looked at this one because ECLIPSE has a working relationship with EDIG. However, what you describe as a desirable item, was the big item in most of the cars that showcased a host of electronic entertaiment systems...
Mercedes had a big line up of their cars in the North Hall. And the big atraction was the comprehensive entertainment systems in the ML lines and the G line SUVs...

OZ...RIGHT ON...
It has been a case of "The best laid plans of mice and men...", going astry case in the past three years...
On the other hand, it is the job of the management to see the
picture as rosey as possible?, I guess?...Lol...
Personally, I would have liked for the management to focus on
execution of their original business plan with clients like ECLIPSE, instead of dealing with the likes of HANG-O, or HI-TECH, who originally had their digs at TREO, and could not get a letter of credit to give to HANG-O to manufacture TREO's couple of years ago...But, such are the vissitudes faced by unknown small companies who try to bring on a new technology into the market place....
Your tonge-and-cheek comments about Sadam are truer than you think...
I guess it all boils down to (1) do you believe in the technology, and (2) are you willing to accept a 3-5 year wait for it to come to some sort of monetary fruition, accepting the risk that someone else may build a better mouse trap in the meantime, rendering the technology obsolete?, a la DATA PLAY...
Regards...Gilgamash...
OZ...LET ME PUT THIS WAY...
If we get an announcement tomorrow that Sadam has resigned and retired in Libya, and we are not going to war, Fred Falk's statements may come to pass, and ECLIPSE may start marketing the units to their customers...
On the other hand, if Prime Minister Blair, who is coming to Washington to convince Bush to play it cool for a while and give the Inspectors more time, fails in his mission in delaying the war by six months, then D.inkie's SUMMER time line may be too optimistics...
In short, there are factors that are extrinsic to the technology that cause delays...
Regards...Gilgamash...
bomba and doni...
D.inkie's conversations with ATUL got similar results to the ones I had with ATUL, who is EDIG'S engineering VP. In addition to talking with ATUL I had long conversations with ECIPLSE people...
Juxtaposing those two conversations led to the conclusions I posted in my yesterday's post...
No one came out and said with speceficity that 0-1000 was THE unit that was represented by the plastic mock up of MP3 players which was resting half way inside the ECLIPSE COMMANDER ADVANCE unit on display...
ECLPSE COMMANDER ADVANCE is a highly sophisticated, that has been optimized for state-of-the-art recognition of the of conversational American English dialects. The user needs just to speak naturally and the Commander interacts in a natural-sounding human voice. It will confirm commands, and ask questions and respond...
The Commander responds to virtually all commands that relate to the operation of the car's audio and visual entertainment susytem. These can be spoken in your ordinary voice without needing special emphasis...
For units that do not have built-in MP3 decode ability to play MP3 files (meaning after Market), Commander conviently provides MP3 playback compatibility....
(1) We know that EDIG has worked with ECLIPSE FUJITSU TEN...
(2) We know the ECPLISE COMMANDER ADVANCE, chartacteristics of which are described above, is the unit that will have the EDIG work encorporated within it when it is brought to market...
(3) We know that highly sopisticated COMMANDER ADVANCE system,
which controls both Audio and Video sysytems by voice command, will not be using any "Regular MP3 player in the "Slot" that the demonstration unit had for the "After Market". The unit has to be one that will respond to the voice command system of COMMANDER ADVANCE...
And my conversation with ATUL and ECPLISE person, and D.inkie's observation of ATUL'S response about 0-1000 having FPGA'S leads to the conclusion that 0-1000 is indeed the unit that will be a part of the COMMANDER ADVANCE when it comes to market...
And the only hold up is resolution of some "FRONT END DESIGN" problems, and there is no issue as to technical matters that have held back the production and marketing of the unit...

redwing...
Just got back from CES...Great show...Will be saying few more things after some rest...
However, there is a point you raise that I was concerned about also..
Fujitsu was not listed in the CES directory...
Eclipse by Fujitsu Ten was listed, and they were in the North Hall which had most of the Exhibits relating to cars...
They had catalogs for their products, including one for the ECLIPSE COMMANDER ADVANCE with which O-1000 will interface.
They also had a mock up of a commander unit with a docking station interfaced with it which had a plastic 0-1000 in it.
The Eclipse people would only state that 0-1000 was the unit which was destained to go in the docking station. They would not go beyond saying that there were some "outside" design problems with the incorporation of the docking station with the Commander unit as a whole that had held back the "Live"
working sample they were hoping to deliver to CES, but it was forthcoming...
And, ohyes, the ECLIPSE COMMANCEDER ADVANCE had won the best
Innovation Award at CES too...
EDIG people would only say we have completed our part for ECLIPSE, and we have to wait for them to bring the product to the market...
Finally, I got the impression, (they did not it in clear sentences, but it came through), that the "docking station" method is to adress the needs of the "After Market", and they
plan to "marry" 0-1000 with units that are for the "New Car Market"...
In either way, this is going to be a "huge" item for EDIG revenues in 1-2 years, as there was no issue that ECLPISE was
going ahead with marketing ECLIPSE COMMANDER ADVANCE...

What do you mean by that?...
Is there something you "KNOW" that you care to share with us? Or, are you telling us that you have "concluded" as such?...
If the latter, have you communicated this "conclusion" to the EDIG management, giving them your "reasons"? And, what was their response, if any...
Regards...Gilgamash...
So, Mr. D.inkie...
A while back you wanted a list of things to look for at CES...
Now you have your list. Go look for it, and let the folks here know that you have "Proof Positive" of the items you list in your post as to what OZ says, and what Gil says...Lol...

O.K., here is some events for you to consider;
1) $600 billion more money pumped into economy by GW;

3) CES 2003 confirms OEMS putting out EDIG enabled widgets

and there are announcements about 2 major airlines signing
on to use the INFOTAIMENT platforms which APL is marketing,

Furthermore, it will be signal for the rest of cash sitting and earning 1.5-2% in CD's...

A team that beat 3 top 25 teams; beat UCLA; beat USC,(as far as I was concerned- and I was there, was it not for bad officiating that gave SC couple of touchdowns), and were denied
a bowl game, because the previous year's coach had allowed the team members to use his cell phone to call home.(SIMPLY ABSURD)

This should be an item on the PRESS CONFERENCE by Fujitsu scheduled for next week at CES...
I will be there and let you know for sure...Lol...

HI OZ...ON THIS ONE I HAVE TO TAKE ISSUE WITH YOU...
Just because I-Pod sold 4 million widgets it does not mean we have to sell the MP3 market short...
I tell you, we have all them 78's, 45's, Lp's, CD's, and some 7.5 tapes, small tapes, and 8mm tapes to booth. But, I got a TREO 15 for the wifee, and you can't even get close to it...
She is really sold on the notion that EDIG shall be a success, in that she is convinced this is the wave of the future, and she keeps telling me "Buy more EDIG shares". And, you know what?, I agree with her easoning...
All those things you mention are "some place else" when you want to play them...
You get CD's that are in a car trunk; tapes that are in some one's rooms, and Lp's, and 45's that are warpped because they were left in the sun in the back seat of your car...
With TREO you have 300 CD's all in one palce, ready to be played and carried anywhere, and giving the best reproduction of sound any time...
I think O-1000 will open a new door to a huge market that is just begining, and far from being saturated...
I figure if my wife, who kept telliong to "...sell this stupid stock", can change her attitude and see a TREO as the wave of the future in music, then we have a "winner of a stock."...
Regards...Gilgamash...
doni...THAT IS THE POST OF THE WEEK...
I can see it. During CES a possible "Customer" approaches the Divex booth. He sees a product (with EDIG in it) that he likes. He asks who does he have to talk to to place a big order, and he is told "GO TO H E L L"?...Lol...
Regards...Gilgamash...
Silversurfer...WE SHOULD START ON A GREEN FOOTING...
The following quote from President's Letter you allude to is clear...
We will be told the "Names of Several OEMS", notice how it is plural, who use our platform, starting this week and into next, leading to CES 2003...
"and will also have information on OEM platforms featuring digital audio and video support. We are planning to have products and technology platform demonstrations in several OEM customers' and partners' booths as well as in technology suites and pavilions. We will be releasing more information regarding our participation at CES 2003 in the days leading up to the show."
Regards...Gilgamash...
Gary...With your permission...
I choose to answer your "private question" publicly, because it raises issues the disussion of which are worth sharing with our shareholder friens...
As you may know, I have appriciated your posts in the past, particularly the parts that appear to be an "Objective" analysis of available "Facts", relating to developments thus far...
However, as I am sure you will agree, investing in a stock of a company is far more complex than merely "counting the beans", or
dwelling on "failures" of the management, without proposing and
executing a course of action that might improve things from all
perspectives...
You asked the following:
"Gary Date: 12/30/2002 1:24:31 PM
Gil,
Why do you take this as good news?
Preferred Stock can be some pretty tough stuff. Your company may have just been bought for essentially $2.05MM.
Curious to know your thoughts on this.
regards,
Gary"...
I have said publicly that my purchases of EDIG stock started in late 1999, and have continued since...
Although, I traded in the stock between $12.50 and $18.75 to accumulate enough "Free shares" to carry me through the subsequent fade out of the pps, as D.inkie has properly observed on these boards, I have been accumulating at different thresholds
including a purchase made today...
I have never had any question regarding the basic technology, and even though you have argued, logically, that MOS can not "save" this company, I respectfully disagree...
FIRST:
Digital data transmission is here and SHALL expand "Exponentialy"
THIS IS NOT ANOTHER DOT COM. COMPANY HITTING THE SKIDS BECAUSE THE BUBBLE BUSTED...
EDIG's problem has been that the Markets are not yet ready for what it has to offer...
When COMETA has built its Wide Band Networks, when JDSU, AT&T, IBM, INTEL, TXN, ETC. have executed on their plans to make the
Wide Band digital communications systems, when "CONVERGENCE" has
happened to the point that you could be sitting in your living room watching T.V. and the phone rings, you answer it and on a small screen on the right side of your T.V. you see your son half way up the El Capitan, telling you he will be home for lunch tomorrow, that is when EDIG will be the Global Standard that we all hoped it would be when we "invested" in it...
I know, I know,...these are a lot of "whens, and ifs". But, that
is a matter of perspective...
Some here have arrogated to themselves to call me names, and question my attempts at exploring ways to assure that management
does not run this company into oblevion before its time has come.
So be it. Such juvenile discourse does not merit any comments.
However, your question is legetimate and deserves a response...
SECOND:
When I bought into EDIG I concluded that:
1) It was a highly risky buy, close to "Gambling".
2) I gave it 3-5 years to do what every one "Expected" it to do.
3) The collapse of the equity markets have compounded that time
table by couple of years...
4) The announcement today brings to focus the potentail for the
management to accomplish the time table, by giving them the
breathing room they need so badly, so as they can focus on
their original business plan, and not get envolved in such
fiascos as the "Retail endevour"...

Subject: A must read story and lesson

Regards...Gilgamash...
The old man sat in his gas station on a cold Christmas Eve. He hadn't been anywhere in years since his wife had passed away. He had no decorations, no tree, no lights. It was just another day to him. He didn't hate Christmas, just couldn't find a reason to celebrate. There were no children in
his life. His wife had gone.
He was sitting there looking at the snow that had been falling for the last hour and wondering what it was all about when the door opened and a homeless man stepped through.
Instead of throwing the man out, George, Old George as he was known by his customers, told the man to come and sit by the space heater and warm up.
"Thank you, but I don't mean to intrude," said the stranger. "I see you're busy. I'll just go"
"Not without something hot in your belly," George turned and opened a wide mouth Thermos and handed it to the stranger. "It ain't much, but it's hot and tasty. Stew. Made it myself. When you're done there's coffee and it's fresh."
Just at that moment he heard the "ding" of the driveway bell. "Excuse me be right back," George said.
There, in the driveway, was an old 53 Chevy. Steam was rolling out of the front. The driver was panicked. "Mister can you help me!" said the driver, with a deep Spanish accent. "My wife is with child and my car is broken."
George opened the hood. It was bad. The block looked cracked from the cold; the car was dead. "You ain't going in this thing," George said, as he turned away.
"But, mister. Please help ..." The door of the office closed behind George as he went in. George went to the office wall and got the keys to his old truck, and went back outside. He walked around the building and opened the garage, started the truck and drove it around to where the couple was
waiting.
"Here, take my truck," he said. "She ain't the best thing you ever looked at, but she runs real good." George helped put the woman in the truck and watched as it sped off into the night. George turned and walked back inside the office.
"Glad I gave 'em the truck. Their tires were shot, too. That 'ol
truck has brand new ..." George thought he was talking to the stranger. But, the man had gone. The thermos was on the desk, empty with a used coffee cup beside it.
"Well, at least he got something in his belly," George thought.
George went back outside to see if the old Chevy would start. It cranked slowly, but it started. He pulled it into the garage where the truck had been. He thought he would tinker with it for something to do. Christmas Eve meant no customers. He discovered the block hadn't cracked, it was just the bottom hose on the radiator.
"Well, shoot, I can fix this," he said to himself. So, he put a new one on. "Those tires ain't gonna get 'em through the winter either." He took the snow treads off of his wife's old Lincoln. They were like new and he wasn't going to drive the car.
As he was working, he heard shots being fired. He ran outside and, beside a police car, an officer lay on the cold ground. Bleeding from the left shoulder, the officer moaned, "Help me." George helped the officer inside as he remembered the training he had received in the Army as a medic. He knew the wound needed attention.
"Pressure to stop the bleeding," he thought. The uniform company had been there that morning and had left clean shop towels. He used those and duct tape to bind the wound.
"Hey, they say duct tape can fix anythin'," he said, trying to make the policeman feel at ease. "Something for pain," George thought. All he had was the pills he used for his back. "These ought to work." He put some water in a cup and gave the policeman the pills.
"You hang in there. I'm going to get you an ambulance." The phone was dead. "Maybe I can get one of your buddies on that there talk box out in your car."
He went out only to find that a bullet had gone into the dashboard destroying the two way radio. He went back in to find the policeman sitting up.
"Thanks," said the officer. "You could have left me there. The guy that shot me is still in the area. "George sat down beside him. "I would never leave an injured man in
the Army and I ain't gonna leave you." George pulled back the bandage to check for bleeding. "Looks worse than what it is. Bullet passed right through 'ya. Good thing it missed the important stuff though. I think, with time,
you're gonna be right as rain." George got up and poured a cup of coffee. "How do you take it?" he asked."None for me," said the officer. "Oh, yer gonna drink this. Best in the city. Too bad I ain't got no donuts."
The officer laughed and winced at the same time. The front door of the office flew open. In burst a young man with a gun. "Give me all your cash! Do it, now!" the young man yelled. His hand was shaking and George could tell that he had never done anything like this before.
"That's the guy that shot me!" exclaimed the officer. "Son, why are you doing this?" asked George. "You need to put the cannon away. Somebody else might get hurt."
The young man was confused. "Shut up old man, or I'll shoot you, too. Now, give me the cash!" The cop was reaching for his gun. "Put that thing away," George said to the cop. "We got one too many in here now." He turned his attention to the young man. "Son, it's Christmas Eve. If you need the money, well then, here. It ain't much but it's all I got. Now, put that pee shooter away."
George pulled $150 out of his pocket and handed it to the young man, reaching for the barrel of the gun at the same time.
The young man released his grip on the gun, fell to his knees and began to cry. "I'm not very good at this am I? All I wanted was to buy something for my wife and son," he went on. "I've lost my job. My rent is due. My car got repossessed last week ."
George handed the gun to the cop. "Son, we all get in a bit of
squeeze now and then. The road gets hard sometimes. But, we make it through the best we can."
He got the young man to his feet, and sat him down on a chair, across from the cop. "Sometimes, we do stupid things." George handed the young man a cup of coffee. "Being stupid is one of the things that makes us human. Comin' in here with a gun ain't the answer. Now, sit there and get warm and we'll sort this thing out."
The young man had stopped crying. He looked over to the cop. "Sorry I shot you. It just went off. I'm sorry officer."
"Shut up and drink your coffee," the cop said.
George could hear the sounds of sirens outside. A police car and an ambulance skidded to a halt. Two cops came through the door, guns drawn."Chuck! You ok?" one of the cops asked the wounded officer.
"Not bad for a guy who took a bullet. How did you find me?
"GPS locator in the car. Best thing since sliced bread. Who did
this?" the other cop asked as he approached the young man. Chuck answered him, "I don't know. The guy ran off into the dark. Just dropped his gun and ran."
George and the young man both looked puzzled at each other. "That guy work here?," the wounded cop continued.
"Yep," George said. "Just hired him this morning. Boy lost his job."
The paramedics came in and loaded Chuck onto the stretcher. The young man leaned over the wounded cop and whispered, "Why?" Chuck just said, "Merry Christmas boy ... and you, too, George, and thanks for everything."
"Well, looks like you got one doozy of a break there. That ought to solve some of your problems." George went into the back room and came out with a box. He pulled out a ring box. "Here you go. Something for the little woman. I don't think Martha would mind. She said it would come in
handy some day."
The young man looked inside to see the biggest diamond ring he ever saw. "I can't take this," said the young man. "It means something to you." "And now it means something to you," replied George. "I got my memories. That's all I need." George reached into the box again. An airplane, a car, and a truck appeared next. They were toys that the oil company had left for him to sell. "Here's something for that little man of yours."
The young man began to cry again as he handed back the $150 that the old man had handed him earlier. "And what are you supposed to buy Christmas dinner with? You keep that, too," George said. "Now, git home to your family."
The young man turned, with tears streaming down his face. "I'll be here in the morning for work, if that job offer is still good."
"Nope. I'm closed Christmas day," George said. "See ya the day
after."
George turned around to find that the stranger had returned. "Where'd you come from? I thought you left?" "I have been here. I have always been here," said the stranger. "You
say you don't celebrate Christmas. Why?" "Well, after my wife passed away I just couldn't see what all the bother was. Puttin' up a tree, and all, seemed a waste of a good pine tree. Bakin' cookies like I used to with Martha just wasn't the same by
myself and besides I was getting a little chubby."
The stranger put his hand on George's shoulder, "But, you do
celebrate the holiday, George. You gave me food and drink and warmed me when I was cold and hungry. The woman with child will bear a son and he will become a great doctor. The policeman you helped will go on to save 19 people from being killed by terrorists. The young man who tried to rob you will make you a rich man and not take any for himself. That is the spirit of the season and you keep it as good as any man."
George was taken aback by all this stranger had said. "And how do you know all this?" asked the old man.
"Trust me, George. I have the inside track on this sort of thing. And, when your days are done, you will be with Martha again." The stranger moved toward the door."If you will excuse me, George, I have to go, now. I have to go home, where
there is a big celebration planned."
George watched as the old leather jacket and the torn pants that the stranger was wearing turned into a white robe. A golden light began to fill the room.
"You see, George ... it's my birthday. Merry Christmas."
George fell to his knees and replied, "Happy Birthday, Lord."
