I fully agree with the conclusion concerning Adam and Eve's children engaging in intermarriage with their brothers and sisters. The prohibition against incest was to protect the human race against genetic problems -- that situation was not applicable for Adam and Eve's offspring, who were still genetically perfect.
I would disagree with his other conclusion though. I think the foods that God declared to be "unclean", were prohibited simply because God had declared them forbidden to eat. When Peter was shown by God that all foods were "clean" to eat, there had been no great scientific advance in how to prepare and cook food to eat. God simply removed His prohibition against eating them, therefore they were now "clean".

Your post is just one more example of why so called "green energy solutions" are not yet ready for us to rely on them. They cost much more than fossil fuel energy and will drain dollars from either the customer or the taxpayer, or more likely, both.
Until such time as any given "green source" of energy is ready for mass use in an efficient and economically prudent way, then we need to keep them in the development stage, and not try to force them into production before they are ready.

I have said many times here that the market will not tank -- it is in "good hands", and those hands will come in to power it back any time the market looks to be in trouble. It is very reliable for now, but at some point in the future the selling will overwhelm even them. That point will be recognizable by very high downside volume on consecutive days.
The markets are the most important cog in the government's attempt to instill confidence that the economy is turning around, so they will continue to see to it that the markets are strong.

The good news is that the NYPD did a professional job and did it well. They identified and tracked down the islamic terrorist and put him into custody.
The bad news is that the Feds, other than perhaps the FBI, did little to help. The most notable thing in common about the last two terrorist strikes against America is that the homeland security department utterly failed to stop them. In both cases, the "mission" went off without a hitch, and had mechanical problems not intervened, both terrorist actions would have been successful.
The conclusion has to be that the tactics currently being employed by the obama administration, starting with the appeasement of the islamic terrorists, has not worked and will not work. Say what you will, but the difference between the Bush administration's antiterrorism tactics is that Bush succeeded in preventing attacks, and obama has not.
obama has to go - as soon as possible or the next attack (or attacks) may well be fully successful. obama and his politically correct and appeasing policies are a grave danger to our country. This is no time for political correctness and weak kneed policies. We are at war with an enemy that wants to kill as many of us as possible and destroy our nation in the process.

I have been advocating this approach for a long time. Fines and jail time for the employers of illegal aliens is the most sure way to get rid of the illegals. But it will not suffice by itself.
Illegals must also be denied public benefits, and automatic citizenship to children of illegals born on US soil must no longer be granted.
The combination of all the above will cure the problem.

First, the rules for treating "aliens" that you quote are part of the Levitical laws, which were given only to Israel, and in effect only during the time of the Theocracy, when God was the direct ruler over Israel. In no sense can they be construed as applying to us today.
Second, the word translated "alien" in the passages you cite is the Hebrew "ger", which means a guest, and by implication in the passage he would be a foreigner, a gentile. But a "guest" is someone who has been invited to stay with you, not someone who barged in without invitation.
But if you insist on to try to applying these Levitical laws to our situation with Mexico, then you also have to insist that the aliens undergo circumcision before being able to participate in the covenant graces that pertain to Israel, the people of the land.
In the New Testament passage (Hebrews 13:2), you left out the immediately preceding verse, Hebrews 13:1) which gives you the
context of the passage -- loving your Christian brothers (verse 1), including those who are not of your family (verse 2) and those who suffer in prison for their faith, as well as those who are mistreated for their faith (verse 3).
Citing Bible passages out of context never gives a correct understanding of God's will.
As I pointed out in an earlier post, the Christian is specifically enjoined (both by Paul and by Peter) to obey and uphold all the laws of the land in which you reside. This precludes a Christian being an illegal alien, or abetting or facilitating illegal aliens.

The situation down in the Gulf with the oil spill is terrible, but I am getting more and more curious as to what caused the original explosion. It is very convenient, to say the least.
I said when obama made his "oil exploration plan" that no new drilling and actual oil production would come from it. Now, he has his excuse to ban all new drilling and imposing restrictions on current rigs. I certainly hope that the questions in my mind are not true, but like I said it seems pretty convenient.

Scripture is clear on the matter (i.e. Romans 13:1-7, 1 Peter 2:13-17). All Christians are to obey and uphold the laws of wherever it is that they find themselves, unless to do so would result in direct disobedience to the express revealed commands of God. Under Scripture, a Christian who enters this (or any other) country illegally is committing a sin against God and should return to his home country at once. A Christian also should never facilitate the breaking of the law of the land, such as by abetting an illegal alien in his breaking of the law.
Christians understand the desire of those who live in countries like Mexico to come here to live, but the only permissible way to do that is to do so legally.

I think most of us here would prefer a return to the rules as established under Zeev. The problem, as you are probably aware, has arisen in the enforcement of the rules by the moderators -- some moderators, notably bull and sylvestor, have been unable to even handedly enforce the rules on both sides. That was especially true of bull, who apparently went off the deep end near the end of his term.
So the answer to keeping this board viable is to find enough competent moderators. I have found that RDG (from the right) and ordinary (from the left) both meet the desired level of lack of biased enforcement, but the job may require more moderators than just the two of them.

You are correct and I have been advocating that same thing for years. Make it a serious crime to employ any illegal alien for any reason, and enact serious penalties (mandatory fines and jail time) and enforce the laws relentlessly. We also need to deny social benefits to all illegals -- the hospitals should treat them and then the authorities should deport them. Finally, it is imperative that birth on American soil shall no longer automatically confer citizenship.
If we did these things, the result would be that all the illegals would head back home.

There are how many churches in SA ? -- in Iran ? -- in any country ruled by shirah law ?"
I am not sure what your point is -- the statement above certainly does not "prove" your contention that we are in a war between "allah" and Jehovah". Not only Christian churches, but the places of worship of all other faiths would disappear if they were to win. In fact, most of the things we associate with modern American life would disappear.
But that is purely theoretical. If this were really a "war" between the all powerful creator of the universe and all that is in it, and the idol named "allah", the contest would be over before it began. There is no power in the universe that can even begin to withstand Jehovah, the Lord God of the Bible.
But my point is that yes, we are in a war. That war is one that the followers of islam ("allah") have declared against Western society in general, and the US in particular. They attacked us -- we did not attack them.
It is not a war between "allah" and Jehovah.

Moreover, the way the company is now set up -- co-owned by the unions and the government -- all but guarantees that it will never be a self supporting, profitable company again. I predicted a number of times here, almost always on down days in the face of bad news, that the markets would hold up, and not go down.
Here is my reply to extel on one occasion in early Febuary -- I made the same predictions a number of times here last year, but I could not figure out how to use the "search" feature for prior year info and was unwilling to waste time doing so. Shortly after this rally began, the similarities to the manipulated markets following 09/11 became obvious, and the reasoning behind the manipulation was the same -- the alternative was to let the markets and the economy crash.

As I have said several times here, the stock market is not going to fall out of bed -- at least not yet. At some point it will, and when it does, it will be an awful sight to behold, but not now.
Notice how the market usually strengthens as the afternoon goes on. How it is never able to complete a bad sell off even on significant bad news -- the worse the news, the less likely it is that the market will sell off much. The way it is unable to complete a significant downturn of any length. And on and on...
Short this market at your own peril no matter the underlying technicals or fundamentals. This is not a free market folks, no matter what they try to tell you. We are seeing exactly what we saw right after 9/11 and for a long time afterwards, only by a hand that is more experienced (and only slightly less obvious) this time around.
The fundamentals are awful, the market is severely overvalued, and the economic outlook is poor -- if the market went into a serious downturn here we would almost certainly go quickly into a deep recession at a minimum, and that is exactly the same underlying condition that we were in following 9/11. That is also why we now have a manipulated market, rather than a free market.
Regardless of the right or wrong of the matter, it is what it is. It is the old greenspan put with nuclear afterburners.
At some point, they will no longer be able to sustain the artificial "strength", and as noted above, the result will not be pretty with many folks getting wiped out. But until then, the market will be ok -- at worst, a slow decline, but even that is not likely.

I am totally against giving any new tax authority, especially a tax as all encompassing as the VAT, until spending is bought under control and the current income tax is completely revamped.
They are looking to do a VAT on top of current taxes and the economy CANNOT sustain such an increase in taxation in its present sad state.
Why would anyone be willing to let such a profligate government have access to more of our tax dollars??? They should cut spending to significantly lower levels -- lower enough to enable them to balance the budget with no new taxes.

For sure, from before the civil war and since, there have always been some that have desired secession, but you have to admit that the numbers have risen from insignificant to a point where you are hearing it from serious folks. What I believe to be the reasons behind that rise are enumerated in my previous post.
For now, I think these calls are more a bit of intentional bluster -- some of it is letting off steam, but some of it is the intentional sending of a warning of what will happen if the obama administration and other far left liberal radicals continue to have their way. I would go so far as to predict that if obama is successful the movement could become serious indeed.
Hopefully, it will never come to that.
mlsoft

I think that is too simplistic an analysis. Those you refer to do not want to secede from the union -- they would much rather the union succeed and move forward as it has in the past. They have no desire at all to "fundamentally change America" to conform to obama's dreams of a socialistic society run by the liberal elite and the unions. So it is more of a case of them wanting to secede unless the current unconstitutional trends such as the trend toward socialism, the trend toward toward the creation of more and more unfunded entitlements, the trend of unimaginable growth of the public debt, the trend toward the federal usurpation of powers reserved to the states under the constitution, the trend toward the uncontrolled growth of the scope and power of the federal government and the trend toward the debasement of American values and morality. If those trends were to be reversed, I think you would stop hearing calls for secession.
On the other hand, if we continue along the course of socialism and other debasements of American values and the constitution itself as outlined above, we will continue to see a strong rise in the voices calling for secession.

The two are not mutually exclusive and both sides are correct.

A flat tax and a national sales tax?? No thank you. Pick one or the other, for two large sources of income combine for too much temptation to spend and slowly raise the tax rates of both.
I also have come to believe that a significantly larger percentage of Americans need to be subject to whatever tax system we go to. At the present, far too many folks do not pay any income tax, so they have no stake in stopping out of control spending -- "let the rich pay for it and give it to me".
That is one strong argument for a national sales tax instead of a flat tax, although I personally prefer a flat tax on all income.

Two questions -- what good comes from preventing such visits, and what harm comes from allowing them?
From my Christian perspective, I do not have a problem with this particular proposal. When a person is in the hospital, the ones he most wants to see are by definition those that he feels closest to. I see no harm in allowing homosexuals to be visited by those closest to them.
mlsoft

I checked back to what I think was the beginning of this thread. The question is not what Huckabee said, although what he said was factually correct, but what God has clearly said in Scripture. Specifically, He calls homosexuality an abomination.
"You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination. -- Leviticus 18:22
If a man lies with a male as he lies with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination. They shall surely be put to death. Their blood shall be upon them. -- Leviticus 20:13
In the New Testament, Paul tells us in Romans 1:18-27:
18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse.
For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and crawling creatures.
Therefore God gave them over in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, so that their bodies would be dishonored among them.
For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.
26 For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error."
Homosexuality is also included in several lists of lifestyles that will preclude people from going to heaven.
But there is good news for all homosexuals. Forgiveness of sins is available for all through accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior -- it is the free gift of God for all that believe. We all need that forgiveness of sins, for we all sin, and no one can come to the Father but through the Son - Jesus.

LOL, my friend. As I said before, you and I are of the age where we will find out the truth soon enough. I fear it will be rather unpleasant for your part, and that grieves me but that is the choice you have made.
"the sun will come up every day for about 2 billion more years"
2 Peter 3:3-14:
3) "Know this first of all, that in the last days mockers will come with their mocking, following after their own lusts, and saying, "Where is the promise of His coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all continues just as it was from the beginning of creation."
For when they maintain this, it escapes their notice that by the word of God the heavens existed long ago and the earth was formed out of water and by water, through which the world at that time was destroyed, being flooded with water.
But by His word the present heavens and earth are being reserved for fire, kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.
But do not let this one fact escape your notice, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day. The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.
But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be burned up.
Since all these things are to be destroyed in this way, what sort of people ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be destroyed by burning, and the elements will melt with intense heat!
But according to His promise we are looking for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells. Therefore, beloved, since you look for these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, spotless and blameless..."
Be blessed
