hell, maybe our next acquisition will be a shipyard, where we can put our quick turnaround aptitudes to use on building FPSOs...another key part of the deepwater industry tied up in backlogs. Talk about another huge piece to go with our one-stop shop model. We probably already have the space to build the components, which could be moved to shipyards for final installation. However, we'd probably need about 200 more employess in fab to do it. . . just daydreamin here.
I wonder how much thought Ron has been giving to AOV's? Just to stay ahead of the curve. . .hmmmmm.
how much of us do you think they may already own?
ok brikk, i'll bite. care to speculate as to whether/how much slb is accumulating ddi stock?;)
p.s. and roll that, action, lsu fighting tigers knocked the bottom out of that ohiho . . . paraphrasing poo poo broussard!;)
and rhino, what a guy. he's discovered a way to cheer for LSU tied directly to ddi PPS. he's a frickin saint!
GOOOO Tigers!!! Number 1, just like DDI!
Now THAT is some eye-opening info, Sage. Great work. Gives me the warm fuzzies just knowing how tight ddi is with slb. Also makes me want to buy slb stock too!
Best board on ihub, right here.
cool. customization is the way to go, and that's where the margins are best. that's also the reason some previous posters were skeptical about proteus rentals. nice to know that the issue is really no biggie. hell, it's better if they sell em. however, it also stands to reason that they could make a few "vanilla" proteus units that are readily attachable to their lars systems, and those could easily be rentable.
did yall talk at all about renting the proteus?
holy guacamole! great work brikk, as usual!!
LSU!!!GO TIGERS!!!GO DPDW!!!LSU AND DPDW. . .KNOCKIN THE BOTTOM OUT!!!
(don't worry brikk, just having some fun...we all deserve it!)

ummm, excuse me. in case you didn't realize it, we're on the GOM here . . . and that means LSU!!! sorry, but yall opened this can of worms! now i'm gonna have to poo poo you!
http://youtube.com/user/poopoobroussard
and just to stay on topic, don't worry, this is not the mako rov pilot instructor!
cool. i was wondering when someone was going to do that. thanks.
Brikk, I totally agree. To clarify, I certainly have no knowledge of any actual ill-will toward the stock. I think your explanation is spot on. Indifference would have the same effect, as you rightly point out. I just think we should look back at these downturns and try to explain them as best we can. And you always do. Thanks for your input.
My take on ALL the significant downturns we've gone through since mid-October I think bears repeating. IMO, it is not alot of MMM, at least not overly so. I've been pretty vocal about MMM in the past, so that's saying something. I could be wrong, and if so, that's even better, since that would be entirely artificial. It is simply this: there are one or more former insiders with large chunks of stock that are cashing out, and they either don't care about the effect they are having on PPS, or worse, they are mad about being kicked out and harbor ill will. Unfortunately in these situations, people get their feelings hurt, sometimes justifiably so. But you can't make an omelette without cracking some eggs. It's just a necessary cost of doing business sometimes in order to get your company to where you want it to be. It's not right or wrong, it just is what it is. Judging by some of the posts on this board, even some of the complainers apparently know this is the deal, and yet they complain just to jerk some chains. Whatever. The good news, as I've said before, is that the amount of shares being cashed out is finite, limited, and probably close to coming to an end. The other good news is that this circumstance means the stock is healthy and that the market is not overly rigged. The outed sellers are being absorbed, and when they are gone they are gone forever. I share the frustration. I am also one of the 5 (lol) that bought some at $2.00. I think it's important for everyone to know these things and not just be a cheerleader and ignore it, as it has a bearing on our credibility, which is important when the chips are really down. Thankfully, I don't think the chips are anywhere near being down right now. This stock simply cannot be held down, not by anyone, no matter their agenda. Anyone with any foresight can see that. And in the end, that's good news for everyone, even the flippers. They aren't going anywhere, so don't believe it when they say otherwise. They are going to help take us to DR's target and beyond, and I love the little bastiges for it;) All jmho. BTW, great post Brikk.

last trade?
. . . and that would be pretty bullish too!
There is obviously alot of interest out there gobbling the shares up. It's worth noting here, before the irrational exuberance starts again, that obviously one or more former insiders or mms or who knows who, had a few shares to unload yesterday. It's also worth noting that there can only be a finite amount of that left. Once they've finally shot their wad, it's over, and blue skies, imo. Whoever it is can't have much left, imo. The bulls are dealing with it now, and in the end they will run over that static anyway. Just be prepared for those hiccups, that's all, and take comfort in knowing that it's mostly behind us, if not totally. It'll all be ironed out of the stock soon, if it hasn't already, imo. The company has more than enough ammo to handle it, and the PRs are likely just beginning, imo.
thanks! wish i had l2 so i could watch you!
locustsuc, great post
dave, we all want news often, but we need to keep in mind that it is all, even the silence, part of a very good plan. no one has more at stake financially than managment itself. it is better to always have real newsworthy items than to ever have news just for the sake of it. that's what separates us from pump and dumps. we are blessed to be in a situation where a mere whisper from ddi gets everyone's attention. i know what you mean though. just making sure we are all on the same page.
I saw that too, but I tend to doubt that our Proteus is the heave compensator on that crane. I wouldn't mind if I'm wrong though;)
Spec, thanks. True, but that's about as good as it gets, see below from Mako website (old news too). We're so in.

Front page of Rigzone is big. It would be really big if it was a feature. Rigzone basically has an industry wire service with updated news. Wonder if a feature is in the future?
Sage, whatever the biggest one is, that's probably the unit. Thanks.
Just for future reference, you can set your watch on the runs based on when the bears start creeping out and poppping off. Once again, it was darkest before the dawn, as usual. Here's to the dawn! How long must they have been sitting on this PR? Time to drop the day to day doubting. If you're not convinced yet, you haven't done enough research. I suggest start by reading the filings. Happy New Year. It's going to be good here, imo.
Is that a Panther ROV on that LARS? That must have been the big LARS we were talking about recently?
brikk, the fact that dpdw was tooling up the proteus with SLB, and got themselves in with the scientific drillships, prior to dpdw even going public, is really exciting. it really puts everything -- electrowave, boutcher, and mako, into a whole new and different perspective. the size of the lars they are building must be for seaeye panther rovs, and that in itself is exciting. the bears bothering to post here aren't selling, they're just hoping they can get in before they miss out. they know it, and we know they know it. and if they didn't before, now they know that we know they know it;)
thanks BR.
I guess I'm just an ignorant FA guy--a stranger in a strange land here. But at least I know it. And every day, there are more and more like me who are buying and who are not selling for years. More and more IRA buyers here too. It never ceases to amaze me to hear those with their ju ju beads thinking they can accurately predict a tight float stock in a manipulated market, like they're analyzing a big board stock. Oh well, even a broke clock is right twice a day, and sometimes the sun even shines on a dog's ass. . . making the dog think he's a genius.
yep, we'll get our volume back after the holiday. then we'll see some movement.
