I'm not waiting for anything...
EXPH needs to make audited filings to give investors something REAL to believe in...
A webcam just doesn't cut it!
Definitely looking like the sub-penny range is a possibility for EXPH again...
"Significant is a serious word"
- "Game Changer" were significant words, too!
"idiots want to sell!!"
- How do you know that they are idiots? Maybe they have information or perspective that you do not? We saw a selloff prior to the "game changer" announcement too...
Shareholders have every right to question the credibility of the company after some of the disappointments of late...
"IF" there are short games going on with the shares, EXPH's best course of action, IMHO, is to get the SEC filings done, get in compliance, and get onto the OTCBB. If I was JD, this would be a high priority of mine irregardless of the short issue.
"Trading at this level is TOTAL BullS---!"
- I agree, I think EXPH should be trading WELL under a penny!
"The advbantage of this product is just that it takes up less floorspace"
That is why they sell so many 100% knocked down (flatpack) cabinets already. How is the EXPH version an improvement on those?
"I do not have a patent number as we are only in a provisional patent pending state."
- PROVISIONAL... all this major hyping of the patent and how much confidence the company had to spend all the money, and it turns out it is just a provisional ($220) filing. A provisional patent is not really a patent, it is a bookmark. It allows you 1 year to file an ACTUAL patent and claim the original date.
FWIW, I think a provisional was the correct route to go, but the excitement and hype that its filing generated was 100% misplaced...
Thanks Hooka.
Sometimes there is no positive spin on reality... you just have to accept it.
"one large retailer chain does $1.7b+- per annum in cabinet revenues"
Do you realize how many different types of "cabinets" they sell? Kitchen, bath, garage, laundry, custom (likely the majority $-wise), utility, flat packed, preassembled, finished, unfinished, etc.
And what is the source of your $1.7B number?
"you do understand it's not *retail* as much
*retailers* and the savings to them that matters :)"
That seems to be the spin that has been taken since obviously this has no consumer appeal. I suggest that you take a look at www.easytoinstall.com and honestly answer me if that site is targeted primarily at builders/contractors/consumers or retailers? I know you've been there, and we both know that it is not retailer geared.
It is clear to me also that this product fails as a consumer product, and ONLY might appeal to a retailer. Why was that fact not clear to Expo when they launched the product?
Additionally, many of (possibly most) of the "take with you" cabinets sold at the big retailers are flat packed "Ikea" style cabinets, which trump the Expo approach for retail space requirements.
And... who is going to be assembling these cabinets while you wait? You can't even get someone to help you in these stores!
And... the premade ones come in protective packaging to help you get it home unmarred. Are we to believe that a sales clerk will open the box, assemble it, and repackage it for you to take home on the spot? Good luck. I do not believe any major retailer will have interest in this...
Where on Earth did JD get $100M from?
Does a large retailer even sell $100M worth of non-special order cabinets a year? Is he banking on getting 100% of the sales? Bath, kitchen, garage, etc.?
This number is so insane, we deserve an explanation!
Charting is useful, I have no issue with general use of charts... However, I think they are about as practical for news driven pink stocks as trying to dial your cell phone wearing mittens.
500M is both buys and sells. And if you believe that much of the share trading volume is phony, 2 million real shares sold at a key inflection point could very well have been what started the ball rolling down hill!
You didn't answer my question...
Did your charts predict yesterday's selloff, or a much higher move?
EXPH is a news driven stock. Charts can't help with that.
"i'm thinking of offering services
to those who need to be tutored on
spotting a good NSS pos in legit
co.s .. wonder if i'll get any takers "
You'd make a mint if they gave you enforcement powers to do something about it!
"just out of curiosity, what do you think is a 'good' website?"
Why iHub of course!
I agree that the website is about as bad as they get. I just assumed it was done on a very tight budget.
I'll accept that. However, that number seems to change daily and has gone up more than 2m shares. Does that mean he has sold more than the 2M shares recently?
Please add:
Was your "patent pending" for a design, utility, or provisional patent?
"We publicly disclose when we raise capital."
How does sending an email to a single stockholder constitute public disclosure? As a matter of fact, that might just get him in trouble with the SEC. And NO I don't plan to make an issue out of it...
How can people be talking stock buybacks, when the company is SELLING shares to raise cash?
How is it good news to hear that the company dumped 2M shares at the top of a hype runup? I'd call that VERY BAD news...
Add this:
Is EXPH currently employing anyone to promote their stock on internet boards?
When EXPH goes up, it is always massive buying... when it goes down, it is always MMs shaking the tree, shorting, or manipulation. Does anyone really think that these posts are believed?
How could I reference a patent design that won't be published for a year? I don't need to see the patent to fully understand the invention. I don't have 12 patents by accident.
That is a link to a patent... you asked for a link to the design.
"Can you post a link to the current design please?"
How does one "post a link to a design"?
"you honestly think they came up with this whole idea, went through all this trouble to market it , and never thought of how these things will work universally?"
They wouldn't be the first company to do that!
"I think they would have been better off if the faces were secured using a pin and slot system with a couple of screws to lock them in place."
Yup! The current (patent pending) design appears to be about the worst way of accomplishing the removable face concept because of the need to slide it vertically vs. front removal.
In my opinion, they will never get a single sale with a retailer due to just plain common sense. The idea of interchangable and retailer configrable cabinets is not a bad one... it is their execution of it that is the failure, IMHO. Competitors with SUPERIOR solutions haven't successfully capitalized on this concept, how is EXPH going to do it?
Lowe's just happens to use "easy to install" term under Google headlines for their do-it-yourself videos, fwiw..
Imagine that... I'd consider that proof positive!
It should be very clear that I understand patents by now. There is really only one thing patentable here, and if there are 10 ways to skin a cat... this is #11.
This idea was stillborn! Seriously, no one working at EXPO or at Lowes, told JD the truth... great concept... totally impractical for the following 10 reasons!
Anyone trying to compute the value of etc. to the bottom line for EXPH, has to use numbers with a negative sign in front of them, IMHO!
"this product will HUGELY benefit the sellers/retailers (Lowe's HD, etc. (get it)).."
Not as much as you think. First of all, let me make one key point... As a consumer, this product is inferior to a dedicated glued and stapled cabinet.
It is structurally FAR weaker without the face installed (shipping and storage problem). With it installed, it is probably weaker too, but there isn't enough detail to say for sure The front face can probably rattle. If there is clearance to slide it in, there is clearance to rattle. Imagine that next to your dishwasher!
Another key point not addressed is drawers. How do they handle them?
Another key point is the recessed toe kick area. Notice how it isn't part of the front face, yet is "magically" changes color too?
The toe kick means that the left and right sides would also be 2 different stocked parts unless they finish both sides, which will increase the cost.
Another key point is that notice how they only show one side of the cabinet? Well, a cabinet exposed on both sides would require a side panel on both side. The panels have thickness (7/16" is my guess). In order to make standard vanity tops fit, they would have to narrow the overall width of the base cabinet to accommodate the side thicknesses or they would stick out beyond the vanity top. What does that mean? Less internal space. Almost an inch in overall width.
Also, the double side wall thicknesses is a waste of wood. Rather than a 5/8" wall, it is now 5/8" + 7/16". Not very green, and more costly.
And how do the sides adhere? It looked like "magic" in the video! If it is glue, how do you remove them for future changes? If it snaps in, how does a retailer/consumer stop them from falling off during shipped and normal use?
I would also guess that the parts are made of MDF, which swells INSANELY (probably 30%) if you get it wet! In a vanity, you can pretty much guarantee that the parts will get wet! Try removing the panel in the future if it has gotten wet!
This product looks to not have been thought through to commercial readiness, IMHO.
"Directions USA"
They are the modeling agency that the chick in the video worked for. I think many are scraping bottom looking for a positive message in Target being listed. They probably loaned them the flower pots for the video.
Based on numbers that are known (company size, sales, margins) EXPH is overvalued even at the current price level. When new numbers are released (hopefully audited) things may have changed.
I try to present the facts, not pass judgement.
"They are definately on board with this one too."
How do you know. Show me ANYTHING to verify this...
"It's a no-brainer that Lowe's will pick these up, they already have the relationship, Lowe's just might have existing contracts with other cabinet makers that need to be finessed."
If it is a no-brainer why hasn't Lowes signed on? They were shown the product, yet didn't...
Gee, do ya think maybe the other cabinet manufacturers also have a relationship with Lowes? And a relationship as a cabinet manufacturer, not as a display manufacturer?
I've been asking this question here myself for some time:
http://investorshub.advfn.com/boards/read_msg.aspx?message_id=40781340
"I think he realized he botched the announcement."
He didn't botch the announcement, he just told the truth. He botched thinking his patent pending invention is a $100M product and saying so publicly.
Is everyone there scared of telling the boss the truth? The product is a complete dud, IMHO. How could no one have told him this?
Well put!
No one seems to want to discuss it directly, but anyway you slice it, JD and EXPH lost quite a bit of CREDIBILITY today.
