I have been here since the beginning of 2008. IMO this stock has never been affected by the price of gold. I think bikeguy and cork could back me up on this. The stock seems to be an "animal of its own" and fluctuates solely on news and/anticipated news. This caused me to become frustrated in the past because there would be a spike because of a FR or PR and the company was slow with information. I stopped following this on a daily basis because of the dismal PPS performance. As I evaluated my portfolio SGCP was a huge loss for me. I decided it would not be worth selling and then the CC news came out. I am again following this on a daily basis and am impressed with the recent history of communications from SGC's leaders. I hope this continues and we see an excellent return on our investments.
I agree with you bikeguy but they titled the segment "making money from carbon emissions." I was hoping for a mention of carbon credits or some financial information that would help me learn more about the subject. I'm sure I am not the only one interested in learning more about the carbon market as it relates to our stock. In that respect I was disappointed with the segment. The guest's ideas were valid.
Was that it Cork? That guy didn't say anything meaningful and refused to talk about the financial aspect. Disappointing.
11:12 eastern time.....CNBC has a section coming up about turning carbon emissions into cash. It is coming up soon.

52 week high imminent! Stand by.
Survey complete. An additional 100,000 additional acres for CC's would be outstanding. Am I right to assume that would be SL3? One positive after another with this company. Everything is finally coming together. Clinching my shares with both hands. Go SGCP!
This should be a very interesting afternoon. This stock has been closing like a race horse. If volume is there we could test .01 IMO
You may be correct. The only point I wanted to make was there were 2 other parties involved that will be paid in some way. Perhaps they are the entities that will advance SGC money for the CC's. In other words, whatever SGC gets for the CC program will be reduced by some kind of fee paid in exchange for the advance in cash. IMO. I will wait for facts from CEO Evans.
CEO Doug Evans doesn't say much but when he does we have to assume there is some meaningful information. In his letter to shareholders he states, "In order to proceed forward with the project, Sierra approached 2 third parties who provided project funding for a participatory interest and we have now reached the stage of project submittal for approval. Should this project be approved as expected, the carbon credits available for the project can be forward sold and we are advised the proceeds of such a transaction would result in eight(8) figure proceeds. These proceeds will allow Sierra Gold Corporation to develop and complete a 20,000 acre Kiri project as well as supporting all of Sierra Golds other activities."
Let's shed some light on what we should now believe:
1. SGC expects the CC program to be approved.
2. The CC program if/when approved would be worth 8 figures
3. The money from the CC program would be used to fund activities (thus no further dilution)
4. 2 third parties are involved and will be compensated in some way, shares or cash
Why is this so hard to understand and why can't we wait for another week or two to get the facts? ID you are crying wolf. Let CEO Evans address us when all the facts are in.
Very true eye. My account went even for a brief moment yesterday and it felt great. I have to admit that I had written off SGCP as a lost cause. I considered selling and moving on because I hate being "stuck" but held on. It looks like things are turning for the better and I look forward to finally seeing some gains. The CC program would allow SGC to purchase adequate equipment to maximize its concessions. Elevated gold prices make the potential for this company even better. Best of all we won't have to HOPE the next PR brings a miracle. The company now has positive news to report. Can't wait to see how this unfolds.
I would love to go away but, like you, I am down a ridiculous amount of money. Tell John to do something positive for shareholders and I will be gone. In fact, I'd love to get back half of my investment. Forward that information to "John" in your next fruitful CC. You and fish are blinded by one of the most over used words on this site....hope. Until then...keep averaging down and lose any hope for an early retirement. SGC is a scam.
You guys know what really sucks? Soy is right and has been right for a long time. This company is a scam and so many of us are stuck holding shares. I was looking at my investments today and SGCP makes me sick. The leadership of this company has failed the stock holders. I do not mean for this post to be a personal attack on them. I think the poor economy had a part in it. That does not excuse the lack of focus on shareholder value displayed by SGC. I have learned a valuable lesson about "pinks." Never trust a company that isn't legally bound to telling the truth. I still can't believe that our investments were wasted on the wrong equipment. The PR's suck....the FR's could contain more information. Such a disappointment but a lesson learned. Soy...you are right.
My opinion is it does not matter what John says or how positive he can spin the company's future. I have always been and continue to be only concerned with pps. June results will not be out of line with the past few months. The performance of this stock has been disappointing to say the least. I am sorry I was a long and now will become a trader to try to recoup my losses. You can smell the stink of this company's performance right through the computer screen. It is funny how "the next PR" never comes. Next and hope are 2 words that have been abused on this site. Good luck.
I hate to say it but my decision to invest in SGC was a mistake. I have voiced my concerns before about the dismal performance of the stock. I decided to wait until the mining season was over to make an exit plan. I guess I learned my lesson about pinkies. Management can over estimate production, tell you they will not dilute and then dilute, announce how new equipment will result in shareholder value and then admit they bought the wrong equipment. This company has turned into a complete stinker. I am impressed with many of the members of this board in attempting to get involved with management and try to make a difference. The sad truth is that we are dealing with snake-oil salesmen and they will say anything to sell us shares. I have concluded that this management team is incompetent and not worthy of my investment. IMHO, the only hope to recoup our losses is if SGC is purchased by a firm with competent leadership. Good luck to all of you and maybe we should take future advice from soy or emergency. They saw this company for what it really is.
Cork, I guess the honest answer to why I would not participate in a CC is that I have no questions for John. My only questions would be why is this stock so low and why aren't the production numbers anywhere near reported potential? Those are not fair questions so I wouldn't ask them. I realize equipment was down, the rainy season was long, and leadership is also disappointed with the PPS. I don't know anything about mining except what I learned doing my DD. The PR's indicated promising samples and potential production numbers. The company has fallen way short of reaching anywhere near the reported capacity. Maybe the company will prove viable and profitable, but my current opinion is that it won't. They have diluted our shares and crippled the PPS. They need to raise money and it is nearly impossible in the current credit market. I am holding my shares because they are worthless. I am stuck. The best I can hope for is a buyout by another mining firm. Maybe we could recoup some of our losses. I truly hope I am wrong and the company succeeds.
One more point about the CC's. If the company would put out meaningful information CC's wouldn't be necessary. Remember, only a few people get information in a CC while endless people get information from a PR. I hope those of you who participate get the information you are looking for but it will not effect the PPS like it would in a PR. Again, my only interest here is the PPS. Thanks for the intelligent conversation and your points were noted.
Roberto, your willingness to get answers is certainly admirable. I would even say you have done a good job to make more information about the company available. I know you are doing this in the hopes of making shareholders' concerns heard by John. The problem lies with this management team. The company seems to be fighting for its life and needs financing. In my opinion they over-reached their financial capacity by securing too many concessions. They don't have enough equipment to process half of the concessions. They already diluted our shares trying to raise capital.
While I appreciate the fact that you are putting in so much effort I just don't see how talking with John will help at all. He is like a salesman trying to keep his customers happy. The only thing I want to hear from this leadership team is that gold is being recovered and the PPS is rising. If your personal involvement makes you or anyone else feel better about this investment then I say go for it. I am different as I only care about the PPS. That may sound selfish but I believe investing is a selfish activity.
I decided a while back to stop averaging down and will not put another penny into this company. With the losses many of us have sustained there is going to be negative comments on this board. The "stucks" will continue to watch this stock and see if something positive develops. It is my feeling that this company is doomed. I made a very poor and costly decision here. GLTA
Roberto, let me ask YOU a few questions, since you like to call people whiners and bashers for being truthful about this stock's dismal performance. You are obviously in constant contact with John and have "intimate knowledge" of the company.
1. Are you at all concerned with earning a return on your investment?
2. Have you lost 80%+ of your investment like many of us have?
3. Would you agree that this leadership team has not been shareholder friendly?
4. Would you agree that this management team has not communicated well and been less than honest in their PR's?
As an investor I have the right to criticize this company for its dismal stock performance. I do not want to participate in any CC or other communication with this leadership team. That would only give them a chance to paint a rosy picture and blow smoke up my rear in an attempt to get me to continue my investment. Let me ask you all this: Has the stock performance been better because of these CC's? The field reports? The PR's? No, No, and No. I judge this company everytime I see the stock price. That is the only information I am interested in.
While you may feel good about contacting the leadership it is doing your investment no good at all. It is a waste of time. Will they tell you in advance the next time they dilute? No. Guys, this is not bashing or whining. This is a realistic assessment of a poor investment.
I am offended by the dismal performance of this stock. I decided a long time ago to ignore this site and re-evaluate my investment at the end of the mining season. What a mistake. This turned out to be a real stinker. I'm sure many of you have been in touch with John and he is telling you to be patient. This company is full of unkept promises and snake oil salesmen. I'll stop there and read how I am a basher and a bad inluence to new investors. I'm sure I will read about hope, hope, and more hope for "the next PR." I don't want to forget about agriculture...that's why we all invested here right? This stock is still going nowhere. See you in the gutter.
"Brains over braun in investing" That's a great line. I think that line directly applies to this board and SGC. I have been reading daily in anticipation of some hard numbers from SGC. It is almost comical to read this board and see the off the wall assumptions: John is having shoulder surgery, he is recovering in the hospital, dilution this and that, blah blah blah. Add to that those in contact with John giving rosy outlooks for the ever popular "next PR." I think the word "hope" is the most overused word on this board. Here is the bottom line for me: the value of my investment is in the basement and being sucked into the sub-basement. I said before that I won't be purchasing any more shares and will be holding until the end of this mining season. I will re-evaluate my position when SGC reports hard numbers and their plan going forward. (If that information is actually shared) With the past performance of this stock fresh in my mind and the company's history of reporting I am expecting very little.
Just wanted to check in. Still holding and anxiously waiting for a PR with hard numbers. It looks like I missed a post that was controversial. I guess I am better off for it. Take care everyone. Talk to you when the numbers are revealed.
I am continuing to hold and wait for production numbers to be announced. I have no idea how the numbers will impact the PPS but I am committed to this company until the conclusion of the current mining season. This stock usually "doesn't act right" for some reason. Even when good news comes out it has little upside impact. Maybe a few excellent reports will change that? Who knows. Perhaps changing from long term to day trader is in order this summer. I guess we'll find out soon enough. For the record I am neutral or slightly bearish on this stock solely based on past performance. HOPEfully the numbers make it all better. There's that word that is so overused here....HOPE. Have a great weekend all!
Most of us are in a position where we lost a lot of value in the past months/years. I can appreciate your frustration and I certainly share some of your concerns. Keep in mind that you are an investor in a junior mining company that is in its first full month of production. There will be hard numbers to report very soon. The channel of communication just might improve as results are reported. I hope you will join me in giving the company a chance to produce before making a final judgement. I think its fair to watch how the company produces and reports during this mining season before initiating a different course of action.
As for the questions you raised: Doug hasn't responded to your emails...he has a president that is assigned to investor relations. He may be busy or doesn't care to reply. The company isn't living up to its promises....that is a matter that could be debated. The company's timeframe for accomplishing goals may be different from yours. There is a lack of information....that is one of my concerns as well. However, this stock is a pinkie so you have to keep that in mind. Dillution...all shareholders are hurt in the short term by dillution. If the capital is used wisely we may benefit in the long run.
There is a phone number for John on the SGC website. Perhaps you should call him and bring forth your concerns. Maybe he can give you some answers? Might be worth a try...you sound very upset.
Emergency, I share your frustration but threatening litigation won't help get gold out of the ground. We have to allow the company's officers to do their jobs. We are in our first month of production so we have to wait and see what the numbers are. Remember, you don't have all the information available...the officers do. You have to trust the leadership and assume they have a lot more to lose than any of us. My course of action will be to watch the numbers during this mining season and then decide if I want to remain an investor in SGC. I know you are frustrated but it is possible that good numbers start coming in and the PPS rises. Hang in there.
We can argue with each other and debate every decision and it will do no good. We have to let this company produce for a few months and then re-evaluate the situation. The numbers will tell us everything we need to hear as investors.
My views on SGCP going forward: There are many of us that have become disgruntled by numerous perceived shortcomings of SGC's management. Some question selling shares, others are disappointed in the reporting, and people like me are concerned with the dropping PPS. We have expressed our concerns and hypothesized how things could have been different. At the same time we have folks who believe everything is going smoothly and things will improve soon. The opinions on dillution are diverse as are the opinions on gaining new concessions. The one thing we have in common is that we all want SGC to be successful. The company has officers that have the difficult task of starting up and running a junior mining company. Admittedly, I do not have the skills or knowledge to do this. I think it is safe to say that most of us lack the ability to take on this task. We have to trust our leadership going forward. We all performed DD before we bought this stock and we liked what we saw. I admit that I have been a bit short-sighted when judging the stock performance. I am not happy with the PPS but I have the chance to get out everyday. I choose to stay because I think this company will eventually bring us profits. We need to take a deep breath and let the company produce during this mining season. I am not talking about waiting for "the one big PR," I am talking about waiting for hard numbers to be reported. Only then, in my opinion, will we see if we have made a wise investment. I can't sit here and type "what ifs" anymore. I will be closely watching the hard numbers and decide if I want to remain an investor in this company at the end of the mining season. Remember, the goals of SGC are to become a long-term producer of gold. We have to give them a chance to be successful. This process is taking longer than any of us want but the profits may be here before Summer. I think we have to step back and realize that this is a long term investment and it still has great potential. Have a great evening.
Eye, your post was spot on as far as I am concerned. I could care less if some on this board get displeased with other investors' comments. My main point of displeasure comes with the dismal stock performance over the last year. I won't rehash all the reasons but will say that I believe management has trashed the PPS through their reporting. High hopes and then downplayed results. I will join you in not recommending this company to friends and family. I hope our management has a plan and executes it perfectly. I also hope shareholders, at some point, benefit from the plan.
I feel a lot better having read the field report on the website. It wasn't all good news but it was honest and contained meaningful information. I was hoping they were buying back shares but now we know part of the reason we tanked was, in fact, the "BIG D." I applaud the management team for following up with a field report this week. Glad to hear our equipment is operating and thrilled that they will be going to the SEC. I only hope this sharing of information is frequent and remains relevant. Have a great weekend everyone.
I would like to say that I made some comments yesterday that QUESTIONED the lack of substance of the Jan 5 PR by management. If you read my posts you can tell that I think the shareholders were overlooked when this terse PR was released. I also commented that I would not be acquiring any new shares until communication improves. As I said I am disappointed in the PPS and I believe that is my right as a shareholder.
Having said all of that, I still believe SGC has great potential and I hope it becomes successful, grows, and is an excellent corporate citizen for the people of SL. I see no reason to bash management and question their leadership. I have no idea how to start up and/or run a Jr. mining company. I believe management is calculated in their communications with shareholders. Perhaps they are buying back shares as speculated previously on this board. If that is the case I understand their logic behind the PR's. I agree that we have to have patience and wait for production to become full. Let's say it like it is, not many of us with substantial positions can get out of this investment without sustaining big losses. We have to hope the future numbers are good enough to get this stock out of the tank. As a shareholder I don't like the lack of substance in the company's reporting, but I will hold my shares and hope for the best. I think we need to ask questions of management when warranted but calling our leadership names or questioning their intelligence isn't productive. There is a reason behind everything they do even if we don't know about it. At some point the shareholders will be the focus and we will benefit then. I hope that is sooner than later.
I appreciate you taking the time to respond to my comment. As you can tell I have become very frustrated with the PPS of this stock and I believe there is a reason for the terse PR's. I guess time will tell. I still think this company is a good investment for the long term. The prospect that SGC is a possible target for acquisition is the reason for my sustained investment in the company. I hope they have great numbers for January and it is reported in a detailed manner. I agree that this will attract new investors and possibly companies operating nearby. If your prediction of +.10 PPS comes true we will all find this period of uncertainty moot.
Roberto I hope you are right. If I remember correctly you spoke to John recently? I wonder if he understands the frustration that some of us have? The Jan 5 PR should have been positive for the PPS but the lack of details seems to have actually hurt our positions. I wonder if we would be in the .006 or .007's if we were told about the status and location of the processors? Here is my main point: If management put a bit more effort and detail into the PR would that have had a positive effect on our PPS? I may be way off and it may not have made a difference but why not give us that information? I am obviously frustrated by this stock solely due to the PPS. I believe that is my right as a shareholder. Many of us are feeling the same way.
Roberto, I will take your advice and wait for the next communication at the end of the month. (What choice do many of us have with the PPS at the current level?) I'm sure John's comments put you at ease and that does make me feel a little better, but at some point SGC needs to release abundant and detailed information on its operations. I am hoping that we don't have to keep hoping that, "Next month's numbers will be great. The next PR will turn around the PPS."
It's hard to watch your investment dwindle down to nearly nothing...believe me I know. I just thought the January 5 PR would be the beginning of a positive trend. I watched as the stock spiked and then settled in the .006's. I finally saw my position regain some of the losses and it felt great. I then read the PR and was shocked by the lack of details. Today I am almost angry at this company for not putting in some effort for its shareholders. I think there are some good things coming for this company, but will they be vague and untimely in their reporting? Are we doomed to subpenny land for the forseeable future? I am not accumulating any more (which I would love to do) until there are some major changes in the communication strategy. In fact, I will start forming an exit plan.
I own over 1 million shares and will not be purchasing any more. I was hoping the start of production would bring a rise in the PPS but it seems the PR lacked the vital information necessary to form a positive trend. I truly hope a field report or another PR is forthcoming to answer the numerous questions of the shareholders and potential investors. IMHO the next official communication from SGC needs to be detailed and timely. Otherwise many investors, like me, will look elsewhere for future investments. I need to see a return on my investment this mining season or I am out. Detailed and timely communication will go a long way toward stabilizizing this everlasting downtrend.
I will conclude by saying I am hopeful that transparency improves and SGC becomes more shareholder friendly. I know there are some folks on this board that have spoken to the leadership and they always come away positive about the company. I think thats great but lets not forget why we are all here...to get a return on our investment. I still hope the company grows, is successful, and is a good corporate citizen to the people of SL. I hope shareholder value is included in the future planning of SGC's operations.
Good luck everyone.
Gold is up $13 this morning. I hope it continues to climb. That should give some additional pop to SGCP. Its gonna be a great 4th quarter guys!
Agreed Robster. The time for playing with this stock sub-penny is coming to an end. Results will begin to drive this stock rather than speculation. I can't wait to see a field report and a positive PR. I also agree that we are days away from seeing some long-awaited information. It is nice to see the gold market waking back up. We may catch "the perfect storm" of high prices while production is increasing. What a ride that would be!
I know a lot of us that frequent this sight are long and have been picking up a lot of shares in the last few weeks. If this is true, the shares available for traders are going to become more scarce. At some point the share price has to stablize. I for one have completed my planned purchases so I personally have taken over 1 million shares out of traders hands. I think this stock is currently undervalued but it is hard to tell because of the traders and, I assume, short interest. I suggest a huge volume day at the current price level would favor the longs purchasing shares and holding them. This would make it harder for the traders and shorts to manipulate the PS. Having said all of this I realize the past history of this stock would probably cause some longs to take profits and we would be right back at square one. It looks like an outstanding PR is needed to "jump start" the PS. I truly believe the longs will be rewarded at that point. Get in now and stay in. This is gonna be a wealth builder.
This stock is starting to drive me crazy. We need a huge volume day to settle these shares. We are probably less than 2 weeks from outstanding news and this stock is being traded in a very wishy washy fashion. I agree with a previous opinion that we need a 20+ volume day to get a stable valuation. Once this happens we can begin to move higher. I guess it will take an excellen PR to make this happen. If you wait for the PR you will miss this rocket. This stock is destined to be a star.
Hi everyone. I have been a shareholder since March. Today I purchased 765,000 shares to average down. I am encouraged by the report of diamonds on the property and the arrival of equipment. It looks like the gold market is going to bounce so I decided this was the time to complete my purchase. I am looking forward to the next PR which will hopefully include some production results. I have a good feeling that this stock is going to move strongly to the upside very soon. This company may be situated to enjoy higher gold prices just as the increased production begins. Let's hope. Take care.
