Trump sues Palm Beach over flagpole
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla., Dec. 23 (UPI) -- Developer and television personality Donald Trump has sued Palm Beach, Fla., in a zoning dispute over his 80-foot flagpole and huge U.S. flag.

In court papers, Trump's lawyers argue that flying the American flag is constitutionally protected free speech. They also say that the property Mar-a-Lago, which is run as a private club, is so large that anything smaller than the 15-by-25-foot flag would not look right.

Trump is seeking $10 million in damages as well as lawyers' fees. He says that anything he gets will be donated to Iraqi war veterans.

Mar-a-Lago was cited in October for failing to get a building permit for the flagpole or permission from the landmarks board and violating a regulation that limits flagpoles to 42 feet.
