I see the problem with the slowness under load and it will require me to take the database down for about 10 minutes. For now though, I'm going to force the load balancers to put everything back to one server which will mask the db problem.
I put it back online for now. The caveat is settings are specific to a server at the moment. For example, if you change to say "Wine" on server 3, you won't see that change on the other servers.
I'll have the synchronization working in a few days.
When you post a message, use "Preview". You post will be spell checked at that point. Misspelled words show up in blue.
Thanks, I'd be interested to hear how compatible it is with MS Office in actual use.
They were. I patched some flaky NIC drivers yesterday and so far that seems to have done the trick.
Sorry, I haven't. The corporate world is still solidly stuck on Microsoft Office - even our parent company which is quite open source friendly otherwise.
It is the luck of the draw. The load balancers pick whatever server looks least busy at the moment and then keep you on that server for the duration of your session.
If you're interested in OpenOffice, get it from the real site, not that scam site that wants to charge you $11.95 to download it.
OpenOffice is free ;)

In that case, we'll announce it as a new feature ;)
The menu will be morphing again soon. "Other" will return and quite a few new options will appear. Just gotta get the hardware situation lined out first.
There used to be a link in Other.
It's one of those mysterious things that are actually linked off of the home page. I didn't believe it either until Matty pointed it out to me when I asked the same question last week ;)
IHub has moved to a new ISP, consequently our IP address has changed. Do you perhaps have IHub's address hard coded into your hosts file at work?
Typing "investorshub.com" into the address bar of IE7 takes me to:
http://www.investorshub.com/boards/default.asp
It shouldn't be redirecting me to the www version, I'll have to look into that, but otherwise seems to be working.
We were having weird DNS issues earlier - they seem to be working themselves out. Are you still having the problems you described?
That makes sense. The popunder code caught you before you'd logged in.
Were you logged in at the time? Shouldn't happen to premium users now if they're logged in.

Look at the section entitled "Posting Images and Charts"
I've been a little depressed but I'm feeling better now - or were you referring to something else? ;)
It's done by examining the host header (for example it looks at the url of the request to see what site is being requested). No separate port is needed.
This is common practice when you're serving multiple sites from the same machine. Or machines in our case ;)
Tell your frineds they can contact us by emailing support@investorshub.com.
The site is checking host headers. What that means is that an IP address in the address bar of your browser won't work to get to iHub, but the solution listed in the post below will work:

No instructions for IE? This page is linked off of iHub's login page:

Good catch - it should now.
Let me know if you are a premium member and still get popups after this point in time. I made a change on our end that should filter it out.
Good thanks. I made a patch to get it working. Still haven't figured out why it wasn't working to begin with though.
Looks to me like Little Red is an AOL user. Send him or her a copy of this post:

I'm working with the London folks on that.
AOL caches DNS too aggressively. Since you're an AOL user you're bounced around between any of their available proxies. Some of proxies apparently have the new DNS entry for Investorshub.com (which would be the times you get in) and some don't (which would be the times you get an error).
Until AOL finally catches up, about the best you can do is add this entry to your hosts file:
206.55.113.196 www.investorshub.com
That will override DNS.
For Windows XP, the hosts file is located at:
c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
Which server? And other than clicking like a cricket in heat (amusing imagery btw) what were you doing when that occurred?
No, the load balancer chooses for you. I just put 3 back into the rotation a little while ago. Hard to diagnose a problem if you can't see it in action.
What server Janice? Look down at the bottom of the page, there will be a number next to the Siliconinvester.com link. That the server you're on.
Dang, aren't you the cheap date ;)
It's not a code change. The process is in place for everyone, but should be bypassed for preemies - they have something configured wrong. If it makes you feel any better, I got a popunder too.
I think the London guys are being a bit overzealous. I'll smack 'em around Monday when they get in.
He's a talented guy - hilarious stuff!
What do you mean? I see a quote link on the board page and it comes up with this for me:
http://www.investorshub.com/boards/quotes.asp?ticker=EVSA
Slim to none.
When you "Report a TOS violation", that post gets added to a TOS queue that is reviewed by Matt.
The new help had nothing to do with the down time today. The posting load and some questionable switching hardware had a lot to do with it;)
