News?
DrRocker,
I surely hope that what I posted you didn't take
as a negative against you.
I thought your IR conversation most truthful
and appreciate your sharing.
What I was trying to convey was that IR's response to
you indicated to me that some posters (not you) embellished.
Again, thanks for sharing.
Joe K.
I came away from CP's post that
Past optimistic posts about conversations
with IR were embellished, and Rockers
conversation with IR confirmed it.
I might be totally off base.
But that's what I came away with.
Joe K.
You asked for proof.
I gave it to you.
Good luck with your investments.

Common Stock
Common stock is ownership in a company, just the basic stock that we're used to trading. Companies sell common stock through public offerings, and it's traded among investors on the secondary market. Those who hold the stock hope to earn dividends from their share of company profits. However, many profitable companies don't pay dividends, and never have any intentions of doing so (i.e. Microsoft).
The obvious risk with common stock is that the price may fall. Unlike some other investment vehicles, investors can not lose more than their initial investment.
Preferred Stock
Like common stock, preferred stock is sold by companies and is then traded among investors on the secondary market. Preferred stock is less risky than common stock, therefore investors can expect less reward.
In many ways preferred stock works like bonds. While bonds guarantee regular interest payments, preferred stock guarantees regular dividend payments for a specified time. Preferred stock price is less volatile than common, and virtually eliminates the possibility of large capital gains.
Preferred stock is rated in a similar fashion to bonds as well. Standard & Poor's ratings range from AAA (best) down to D (worst). These ratings help investors make judgments as to whether the underlying company will be able to pay dividends. Should the company default on dividends and declare bankruptcy, preferred stock holders are entitled to assets before common stock holders.
The bottom line is that preferred stock is less risky than common stock. It's designed to provide an income generating opportunity for investors while raising capital for the underlying company. As Buck investors, we probably shouldn't be thinking about preferred stock until we approach retirement in 30 years, but it's good to know the difference.

Just got the email.
Scottrade also has it.
Options, IMHO and from what I remember.
If someone wrote calls, you bought them and then sold them
to someone else the OI would stay the same.
If you wrote a call and someone bought it
OI would increase.
If you Wrote calls, and someone bought them,
I think there is a way for you to take them back.
I think this last case is what happened.
I know I will be corrected if any of the
above is inaccurate. But thats what I'm
looking for, an education.
Joe K.
I didnt say it was a stratagy.

The Cabilly patents are two US patents issued to Genentech which relate to the "fundamental technology required for the artificial synthesis of antibody molecules".[citation needed] The name refers to the lead inventor Shmuel Cabilly. There has been ongoing legal controversy surrounding these patents since the original filing in 1983.
An interference between U.S. Patent 4,816,567 (the original "Cabilly patent") issued to Genentech and U.S. Patent 4,816,397 (the "Boss" patent) issued to Celltech resulted in the issuance of a second "Cabilly patent" to Genentech in 2001. This new patent would therefore extend into 2018, an effective term of 29 years.
A lawsuit filed by MedImmune, a licensee of the Cabilly patent, resulted in the United States Supreme Court case MedImmune, Inc. v. Genentech, Inc. which was decided in favor of MedImmune. Following the supreme court decision, the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) declared Genentech's patent invalid, but Genentech appealed that decision to the USPTO. The patent remained valid and enforceable until the process was completed. Genentech's "Cabilly II" patent 6,331,415 was then found, after USPTO reexamination, to be enforceable. MedImmune and Centocor have settled with Genentech (1). Currently, two other challenges are in the courts. GlaxoSmithKline and Human Genome Sciences both are challenging the patent under antitrust law (1). This is based on the settlement between Genentech and Celltech and their dispute over the original Cabilly patent 4,816,567 and the Celltech's patent 4,816,397.
An important implication of this case is the affirmation that a licensee retains the right to challenge a licensed patent. The controversy has also called attention to the amount of time the USPTO takes to resolve Interference proceedings, and has been cited in arguments for changing to a First to file patent system.

That 250K+ bid for 1.20 has been there a very long time.
I think we need to fill that before any upward movement.
Someone always knows something that I don't.
Joe K.
Well, actually the market
being closed on Friday makes it the
end of the week.
Joe K.
First half of the week good
Second half of the week bad.
I vote for good.

From what I took away from the clip

I agree,
thanks,

I hope people don't take this personal
but I don't accept anything as fact
unless I see it in a pr or cc.
Second hand info is not always accurate.
Thanks.

Geo,
1 and 2, CK = SK ?
Call the office, they will place the order for you.
I am drawing a blank.
I don't know if its a positive or negative.
One positive I see is more calls than puts.
Looks like 20,000 April 5.00 calls
disappeared yesterday.
Yesterdays volume was only 223.
OI was 27,050
OI now 7479
Joe K.
CP, Thanks. Joe K. eom
CP,
I see what you're saying in my TotalView.
Is that what you are referring to L3
or is L3 something different.
I was impressed with that ask stack
so early and so large.
Thanks,
