Nope. Was not me. I would never give investing/speculating advice, I'm not that knowledgeable on the subject. (I may say what I am going to do, but I would never tell someone else I think they should do it too.)
The only advice I will give is not to beat yourself up over the woulda, shoulda, coulda's. I have to try not to myself. It's so easy to see what we should have done after the fact, but not doing the exact right thing at exactly the right moment isn't something to feel bad about. So no unhappy faces in APDN land! I'm sure we'll be the envy of a lot of people in 6 months or so. (If not sooner.)
We have to live and learn...maybe on the next big run up, I will sell hoping to re-buy at a lower price, and knock on wood that I don't say later on..."dang it, I shoulda not done that!" lol
Me too. As johnsyn said...being here is "as comfortable as an old shoe" these days.
I don't know if these are penny pumpers or not, but something is definitely going on...
Hey imp...instead of nibbles, it looks like there are some actual bites being taken out of the stock today.
Just one more good sign...
3 more people arrested in counterfeit chip probe.

Oh wait...that's a different type of chip.
APDN has a couple of new conferences/symposiums listed on their website. I think one is the rescheduled one that got cancelled due to the hurricane, but the other is totally new as far as I can recall.

C'mon APDN - Work it! Work it!
"Perfect storm" is mentioned in this white paper also.
http://applieddnasciences.net/public_html/sites/default/files/downloads/applied_dna_sciences_white_paper_impact_of_ndaa_section_818_1.pdf
"Conclusion
It is widely understood that the electronics industry, a foundation of U.S. economic growth, innovation,
and national security, is facing a turning point. The immediate trigger in this historic moment is the
language in National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2012, Section 818. But the fundamentals
of the crisis have been years in the making, and represent the intersection of economic and cultural
forces which, in their combined effect, are only just now becoming clear. Even if the law fails to have its
intended effect, the crisis itself will not go away. If ignored, the nation and the world will suffer the
consequences.
The defense industry prime contractors, the entire semiconductor industry, and even the Department of
Defense are, even as we write this, being forced to make sharply defined choices. Yes, there are costs to
compliance with Section 818. In our view, they are far outweighed by the present and future costs of
counterfeits in every part of the industry. It is not hyperbole to say that all parties will need to step up,
to rise to the challenge for the greater economic and national good. The actions taken by all players
now will determine much for many years ahead."
sorry this is an old one apdn1mill, but I like the guy's thinking at the end.
http://www.patexia.com/feed/-gray-market-components-costs-and-cures-20120702
"Continued investment in cutting edge ideas such as the botanical DNA mark is a step in the right direction, but continued innovation is the only way to win the technological arms race. If the cost is over $100 billion in lost revenue, the potential market for up and coming entrepreneurial endeavors focused on fixing it is also worth over $100 billion. So keep innovating, it’s the only way to get our money back."
I was thinking that if the volume went over the 10 day average of 1.7 million, then it would be because of leaked news, but now I'm wondering if the last of the shorts aren't dumping while they can just because the price has been holding tight at .18 or above.
Maybe its a bit of both.
News imminent?
Or speculation that good news will be out tomorrow perhaps?
long time would be for GREAT things to come.
I think we will see good things by end of year, and really good things by March, 2013. IMO
No matter what happens, 5 months isn't a terribly long time to have to sit on the edge of our seats.
"Good things come to those who wait."
and hopefully to those who hold APDN stock!
Holy Smokes! That's about as Big Brother as it gets!
Well, I know they have devices you can buy to fake out a whiz quiz these days, so I'm sure there will be special mouth liners or something you can get with the dna of a chimpanzee or duck billed platypus or the next door neighbor you don't care for. Hmmm....maybe I should patent that idea! lol
I agree imp...it is coming.
A month or so ago I was concerned about APDN's lack of news, thinking it was because they had no news to share, (or only bad news), but now I feel it is more that they are preferring to stay quiet simply because they are content with where APDN is, and where it is going. I think they are going with the premise that all will be revealed in good time, and they don't feel they need to "impress" or lure in potential stockholders with PR's.
I think their being quiet is a good sign that there isn't anything in the works for the company to be bought/sold, because I would think that if there was, they would be pumping the stock to get the share price up as high as they could. (Unless an arrangement has been made already that prevents them from doing that at this point...)
And, if they needed to get cash by diluting, then once again, at this point, I think they would be pumping the stock to get the share price up as high as they could. and to get people to buy as many shares as possible.
Since it appears that none of that is going on, while there are numerous ways it could play out yet, I would have to say that APDN is being quiet simply because they can now afford to do so.
And as you said earlier, this is getting to be fun!
Everything has its Pros and Cons I suppose...
But, I don't think they have mine yet, so in case I ever decide to indulge in any criminal activity down the road, I'm going to take my own plastic-ware and paper cups whenever I go out to eat or drink from now on.
Interesting article Ms. johnsyn...
I'm sure the conspiracy folks will have a heyday with all that...
"Confusion and uncertainty tend to erode trust, and trust is the key to amassing the large number of genomic data sets needed to make powerful life-saving discoveries.”
it's also the key to amassing the large number of genomic data sets needed to keep track of every individual in the country.
"Relax...we're doing this in your best interest...it's for powerful life-saving discoveries...not to use against you in a court of law if necessary...relax...ignore the man collecting the trash and walking out to the unmarked van...he's just a restaurant employee going to the recycling center...be calm....trust us."
Don't let your discarded coffee cups out of your sight everyone, and by any means, make sure you wash off any utensils used at a restaurant with soap and hot water in the bathroom before you leave from here on out.
Here's an informative article on plant dna should anyone care to read it while things are currently "quiet".
It gives a little insight into the dna's complexity, which helps support the idea of turning it into unbreakable codes.

It's pretty obvious by all that APDN has going on in the next 45 days, that if they don't succeed, it won't be for a lack of trying.
They obviously know how to play the game, so its just a matter of time before they win a big match or two.
November is going to be a HUGE exposure month for APDN.
Again, don't know if this was posted already or not, but here's another conference that APDN is going to be at Nov. 26th-29th of this year. AND, "DMC is the PREMIER Defense Manufacturing and Industrial Base Conference in the country."
http://www.dmc2012.com/
APDN is going to be in booth #824 right around the corner from their DLA buddies. Funny to see that the military groups are positioned right next to the lounge area again.
http://dmc2012.com/page/exhibits_hall.html
Here's an interesting article I haven't seen before. A good example of APDN greasing the political palms it needs to to keep those wheels of progress moving.
Please note it is mentioned that there was nothing done that was illegal. It is standard procedure, and from my limited understanding, is the way business gets done when dealing with the government and it's representatives at all levels.

I think its more dreaming than speculating, but thanks just the same.
Based on the last two days of trading, I would say they are now...
Nothin' but rainbows and lollipops for the rest of us from here on out. I hope.
Yep..I think a bunch of shorts jumped ship again at the 11th hour today.
Not sure if someone posted this already or not, but here it is again if it was...

The “Top 5” high risk Federal Supply Groups (those with the highest number of incidents) are:
1. Electrical and Electronic Equipment Components (FSG 59)
2. Engine Accessories (FSG 29)
3. Pipe, Tubing, Hose, and Fittings (FSG 47)
4. Hardware and Abrasives (FSG 53)
5. Vehicular Equipment Components (FSG 25)
and sorry, I see I didn't answer your questions yet.
In regards to the good doctor, my answers would be...
I don't know.
and...
I don't know.
I didn't speculate on APDN being bought, because if they do, then all of our dreams of making a LOT of money on APDN all go up in smoke.
We will do well (i.e., make a profit) should APDN sell out, or get bought out, but not as well as we would if APDN remains as they are now.
Someone posted on here before that if the company sells out, the sale price better not be 50 cents a share, (or less) because they (that person) would never vote for that.
But alas, as in most elections, from a numbers standpoint, our votes would have little impact on the end result.
I saw somewhere that there are approximately 700 shareholders of record of APDN stock. I don't know who owns what shares, other than that insiders own about 28% of the outstanding shares, and a few institutions own about 1%, but let's say that insiders and big unknown investors (like politicians, etc.) account for 50 of the 700 shareholders, leaving 650 of us individual investors cheering on APDN.
To have the capability of having the majority vote (meaning 320,000,001 of the 640,000,000 outstanding shares), we would each need to hold an average of over 492,000 shares.
Even if there were only 25 big name players, the rest of us would still need to own over 474,000 shares each.
My guess is that all of us little folks average between 200,000 to 250,000 shares, but I really don't know.
What appears to be obvious though is that there are a few large holders of APDN stock, and my guess (and hope) is that they know they would do better financially by letting APDN run on it's own, then by having it get sold for nowhere near its potential.
But, all that remains to be seen. I do think we will be allowed to see which direction APDN is headed before the end of the year though, so hold strong everyone.
I said I wasn't going to speculate about APDN anymore, but I can't help myself. lol
;-P
A lot of folks keep mentioning a reverse split, but I see the probability of that being very low these days. If the share price, or what exchange the stock was traded on, was a concern of APDN's or their prospective customers, a reverse split would have happened by now. IMO
And I don't see a buyback happening until they have had profits for sequential quarters.
What would be a sign that APDN considers itself healthy and "over-the-hump" so to speak would be the retiring of some of their numerous authorized shares. At 1.35 billion authorized, and 640 million outstanding shares, they could stand to easily retire half a billion shares once they have some contracts and a good revenue stream coming in.
I don't think they will retire them all at once, but I would love to see them retire 2-3 hundred million of them before the end of the year, and I think that they will. IMMHO.
If they do that, at that point we will know for sure that we made the right decision to stay with APDN.
Quite the increase in share volume over the past few months...as we know of course.
Looks like Citadel Securities joined in during May of this year sometime.

Looks like Janice Meraglia is doing a double header at the end of the month.
We knew she was a speaker at the SAE 2012 Counterfeit Parts Avoidance Symposium, but here is a link to a technical paper that will be presented at the SAE 2012 Aerospace Electronics and Avionics Systems Conference October 30 - November 1, 2012 also in Phoenix.

I can't find anyone from APDN listed as a keynote speaker at the Aerospace conference, so evidently this paper will be presented during one of the technical sessions. Please note the big names of the companies who have key note speaker representatives though...
I don't know exactly what this means that APDN is on this list, but I do know it's another validation of them being a legitimate company. So this goes in the plus column on my scorecard.
http://pcaobus.org/About/Ops/Documents/Support%20Fee/Issuers_Paid.pdf
(Please note that that other company that keeps getting mentioned on here is NOT on the list.)
Man! I haven't seen a standoff like this since...
Looks like several folks are feeling like they stepped part way in to a crowded elevator, and the doors are closing on them. It's either get back out now, or get dragged up to the next floor, losing an arm and a leg along the way. (Figuratively speaking of course.)
Hopefully this will answer any questions about AC vs. DC current.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_of_Currents
I don't know about ball size, but based on APDN's involvement with the government, as well as the trade shows, symposiums, and conferences they are attending in the next month or two, I would certainly say APDN is one of the most, if not THE most aggressive company in this arena out there.
And regardless of size, aggressiveness is a very good sign that our little company isn't neutered at least.
The APDN shorts have to be getting a little nervous by now.
I wonder if we'll see a little pop at the end of the day today?
You're welcome.
I always carry a pocket full of pennies around so I can give my two cents worth at all times whether it's asked for or not. lol
Don't mean to interrupt with technicalities...
...but Edison was pro DC, and Tesla was AC, so Sweetwater is the Edison to our Tesla. Edison just happens to be more well known because of the light bulb, etc. ,that made him the "Father of Invention".
As was the case with them, and with APDN and it's competitor's, regardless of name recognition, the best technology will win.
IMO
Someone from APDN would be better off answering this than me, but my understanding is that the digitizing (or reshuffling) of the dna is what gives it it's forensic accuracy and it's as good as infinite number of unique "codes".
From the promo earlier this week:
The smoke and dye system, called Thinpac(TM), is already in use in over 130,000 locations worldwide, with great success at deterring crime. 3SI called the addition of SigNature DNA marking to the Thinpac "a unique and leading edge security feature which we are happy to be able to offer to our customers." The company points out that "SigNature-DNA-tagged items can be identified unequivocally with a marker unique to a specific Thinpac, and hence unique to a particular crime. Any item, cash or person that comes in contact with the smoke will be marked by the SigNature DNA."
So that's over 130,000 locations already, each with their own unique marker that can be traced to a specific location, and if I understand the technology correctly, a specific time as well.
I also believe that I read somewhere that the dna markers provided by APDN would be good for a year. So every year, new markers would be issued which I feel would help keep the original items even that much more secure, as it would make it harder for counterfeiters to copy an items dna "code" if the dna strand was changing year after year, and not remaining the same for 5 or 10 years, or the life of the product.
and I'll bet someone can have some fun seeing how APDN is involved with the FCTC tobacco treaty, which calls for a track and trace regime.
From the article:
Considering that Nepal has
ratified the global FCTC tobacco
treaty, which calls for a track and trace
regime, the question is a relevant one.
However, the only reply they got from
IRD was that the question was
irrelevant to this bid!
APDN has the potential to be so HUGE, it truly boggles the mind.
The word is getting out there!
This is from July of this year, but it was good to see companies asking a government agency about the possibility of having a future requirement concerning digital authentication and track and trace.
http://www.taxstampnews.com/images/stories/PDFs/TSN_Jul_12.pdf
The first article is the one I'm referring to. APDN isn't mentioned, but the technology is. What's interesting is that the question is from tobacco tax stamp manufacturer's raising the question to the Ministry of Finance Inland Revenue Department (IRD) of Nepal.
Who'd a thunk dna applications for tax stamps, and especially that it would be a concern for the future in Nepal?!
Also, if you go down to page 5, there's a great article about the companies using smart phone applications (and 1 that's not) for verification purposes, and APDN is mentioned in that one.
This shows that APDN is going to be popping up all over the place, and in a lot of areas we haven't even thought of. Anyone against APDN or it's technology is going to find themselves in a can't win game of "Whack o' Mole" lol As soon as they try to knock down one application, it will show up in another one. IMMHO
