I agree it was very wise. Almost like she knew the price was going to take a big dump. I'm curious about where the money went. Probably several million to Cognate for the trial halt clause. The rest either to Cognate or put into the UK facility that will eventually belong to Cognate. Hey didnt Cognate sell a bunch of shares and not report the sale until many months later after being promoted to by the SEC? Maybe we will find out who is doing all of this selling in a few months.
Any bets on which federal agency we hear from first concerning NWBO? SEC, FBI, or FDA?
Well on our way.
What were you saying yesterday about a 30% drop? Yikes!
Something for all of the longs here to think about. Linda knew full well what would happen to the stock if NW decided to sell. She had a choice to work with him behind scenes to resolve his concerns or take the fight public. She chose to make it a public pissing match knowing full well what the consequences would be for NWBO. The recent toxic financing told me everything I needed to know about possible positive catalysts that many here keep dreaming about. Her actions over the past 6 months have made it very clear to me she has no concern for the long term prospects of the shell company. The patents are protected. The manufacturing company that has been built and greatly expanded and is flourishing. The financial vehicle has served its purpose with NW being the big whopper needed to meet the end goals.
I believe NW's separate investigation has provided him with the info he needed to make his next moves.
The silent strategy has worked splendidly Linda. LMAO
No response to my comments about Cognate and Swaston? You also didn't address my question about the next financing. Are you aware of how much money was raised and spent last year? Have you thought about how much dilution will be necessary to raise equivalent funds this year at these levels? I suppose a very narrow focus on the science may not include a review and consideration of everything necessary to reach the finish line and give the science an opportunity to shine. Maybe there just isn't much to say :)
I know how I am feeling about everything. I can't even imagine how someone with so much more time invested feels about acceptance. Maybe the financial pain hasn't been too bad for you. Hope not. Anyway, good luck.
Flipper, it is much more simple and you know this. You also know the implications and I understand the silence. Nonetheless, I'll give some of the others a hint.
Cognate provides full development and cGMP manufacturing services to companies and institutions engaged in the development of cell-based products.
Linda Powers is in a race against the clock. She must complete as much of the UK remodel as possible in the coming months with NWBO resources. I believe that is what the recent financing was for. I think we could see one or maybe two more financings on the way down. There will come a time in the near future when Cognate will need to step in as the guarantor of the mortgage. Hopefully the facility will be very close to operational when that occurs.
I hope you don't have much money wrapped up in this flip. I have an increasing concern about nwbo's ability to continue. Predictions for terms of the next financing? This has been and will continue to be a great real life example of the effects of toxic financing for those here who are unfamiliar with how it all works. Have a great day!
Flipper,
I'm curious what your thoughts are on the plans for the Swaston facility using cells from a patient's "close relative", or from a "stem cell bank from donated umbilical cord blood", and involving "organs from the NHS Blood and Transplant Service that is unsuitable for routine transplantation but can be used as a “scaffold” for product development."
Will you explain how the above will be used for DCVAX?
TC, is NWBO in jeopardy of being removed from the Russell index?
“And we have been busily in preparation for a couple months now on the Phase II trial and we expect to be announcing something about that relatively soon. We announced that we will do two different trials, in two different cancers, in parallel in the coming year.” Linda Powers speaking about the DCVAX Direct trial at the Oppenheimer 25th Annual Health Conference on 12-10-2014.
Well, it's been nearly 13 months. Do you think you might make some progress on this RELATIVELY SOON, Linda??? Cancer patients are still dying. LET'S GET THIS UNDERWAY ALREADY!!
Anyone who thinks she will release any results after the 1st or 2nd dose are absolutely nuts. 1, she was hammered for releasing preliminary results in phase 1, even had to pay a large settlement (if I remember correctly) and certainly won't risk a repeat of that fiasco. 2, if the treatment works, there may not be anything to report right away. The immune response may take a considerable amount of time to produce visible results. Stable disease would be a success, but that wouldn't be released because folks can spin it as a negative (not a CR or PR by definition). No, the silence will continue, you can bet the farm on that. But any announcement that phase 2 is beginning will at least be something..
Yeah you are probably right, she is most likely out of the loop. Just as long as she can be in the know for the purpose of increasing the DCVAX L manufacturing capacity (thinking Cognate expansion) well in advance of the approval. Wait, how can she out of the loop, but be certain enough about the treatment efficacy to spend millions for manufacturing expansion for...oh never mind :)
I'm also curious what your thoughts are on the plans for the Swaston facility using cells from a patient's "close relative", or from a "stem cell bank from donated umbilical cord blood", and involving "organs from the NHS Blood and Transplant Service that is unsuitable for routine transplantation but can be used as a “scaffold” for product development." Do you think these descriptions match up with the product development for DCVAX L or D? I haven't heard of anything like this in my research of how DCVAX is manufactured. I'm probably missing something very obvious that would explain need for NWBO to integrate this type of cell manufacturing for their DCVAX platform.
Sorry, I should have been more clear with my first statement so that it would make more sense. Let me try again.
Good, I'm glad to hear the accelerated approval dream is alive and well :)
With regard to enrollment, all I have to go by is Linda Power's recent statements that enrollment is "close" but not complete. She also reiterated multiple times that the trial had been "delayed" by the screening suspension. I wish I could draw a more positive conclusion from her statements, but I'm finding it very difficult to do so. I feel that if enrollment were complete she would be open to the idea of telling us, especially considering the recent need for financing and the positive impact such a statement could or would have had on the share price. All IMHO...
Good, I'm glad to hear the dream is alive and well :)
What's your latest theory on why the pipeline patients screened prior to August 1st haven't made it into the trial by now so that we can reach full enrollment? Also, what do you suppose ever happened to that FDA letter that was "expected" to be received in November? Have you talked to Les lately? TIA
I suppose some things seem okay if the ends justify the means...
I bet there's much more to this story that will come to light in the coming weeks. I don't know what to believe any more. Go big or go home greed, lies, manipulation on all sides, coordinated short selling, anonymous reports that devastate investments and careers, attempts to gather confidential information through conflicts of interest, simultaneous investigations by multiple former FBI agents on different fronts. All of this shhtuff really is stranger than fiction! Is there a disruptive cancer treatment technology hidden somewhere in all of this rampant chaos?
"For all we know he is buying."
No, like so many of your other statements, completely false. If NW were buying, we would know, and he isn't. Keep trying, dude.
"if NWBO fails it will be a valuable lesson for everyone! We'll reflect, learn, and move on."
That's the right attitude to have. GL
I have been uncomfortable with this management team since the penny stock days. Kind of funny, we've almost come full circle :) I knew all along this was a long shot. All of the normal risks of biotech, with a few extra landmines just for kicks. Last year I actually started to believe to the point that I took on more risk than I should have. I chalk it up as another valuable lesson learned.
In other news, it looks like the Cenkos investigation into Malik didn't take long. I wonder if he will be banned from the industry?
NW doesn't have anyone on the NWBO board.
Do you really think NW could unload 25m shares right now if he wanted to? He is waiting for the outcome of his investigation into Linda Powers before making his next move. We will find out more from NW in the coming weeks. Linda hired some very good attorneys to help her through this. Should be very interesting to see how it all plays out.
Flipper, you have been pretty quiet since Linda Powers killed all AA speculation at the annual meeting. I wonder how many folks held their shares from $9 to 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, all the way down to 3...after the screening hold news, somehow hoping that AA and full enrollment were the reason. Not wanting to be out the stock for a minute just in case the good news of AA came out of the blue.
Oh well. Their losses are their problem :) Happy New Year!!
"Even Woodford is now suspect"
But you have all the faith in the world in LP. All I can do is shake my head in amazement... GL
How much money have you lost so far with your investment here? If it turns out that Linda was more focused on using your funds to build her private company and engaged in unethical or even illegal activities what will you have to say about the numerous warning signs that were evident in all directions? Have you noticed that NWBO has lost 75% of its value in 4 months? Have you noticed that the only financing available to NWBO is toxic dilution with full warrant coverage? Have you noticed that the L trial is currently short of full enrollment and may not be able to finish enrollmen? Have you noticed that there hasn't been any progress made on Direct in over a year? Are you an insider that has knowledge the rest of us are unaware of because to most here, and to those that have already left, the current situation appears to be very dire.
Where have you been? It's been obvious over the last year that they weren't working on Direct. Why are you surprised now?? Why haven't you realized this before now and said or done something about it? Why have you waited all of this time? Why are you just bringing this up now?? Why do you post the same concerns over and over every day??
I don't recall seeing the reason for the 12m financing anywhere. Can you please point me to where it was available in the public domain before your conversation today or maybe explain how it isn't material info? Thanks
Les's comments align perfectly with what Linda has stated on multiple occasions, that they intend to see the L trial through to the end. The AA idea is only a imaginary scenario and I don't believe they intend to pursue it. Thus the projected timeline of 2017 (if screening is ever allowed to resume)
Did Jack really say that? Did I miss something? Maybe I need a secret decorder ring to interpret the hidden message about the upcoming news in the next few months that is going to increase the share price. Phew..I feel much better now. Coupled with Les' positive demeanor everything is surely in tip top shape. Or is it similar to when LP recently said the cash situation was "fine" and then conducted a toxic financing a few days later?? Hmm..
Hey check out the cap now under 300m. :). LMAO
"Close" is a vague relative term isn't it? Would 300 or 86% be close? What about 313 or 90% of enrollment, is that close? Whatever it is, we know two things for sure. Enrollment is not complete because the info arm is still active and the trial has been "delayed" per Linda Powers multiple times at the annual meeting. Would there be a delay if enough patients were in the pipeline or if full enrollment had been reached? Keep denying that there's a major problem. It's what you do.
Do you find it interesting the company remains under a partial clinical hold which by Linda's admission has delayed the trial considerably?? Do you find in interesting that another bio that underwent a partial clinical hold after nwbo has already had their hold lifted? Are you familier with the FR rule that pertains to small cap bio's and how there is a strong correlation with a low market cap and failure (for whatever reasons I personally believe good news has a way of leaking). Are you aware of nwbo's current market cap? Do you agree that it is certainly possible that the interim efficacy results weren't as great as expected and that it happens all the time in clinical trials? Do you understand that most clinical trials fail? Please explain to me what part seems so outrageous..
With so many boisterous longs here, and with 2016 looking so promising with that $55-$250 share price right around the corner, why isn't anyone buying?? We should have institutions and smart money snaping up shares at these bargain basement prices. But no one is buying, not even the retail longs. Why?
Wow! Thanks for sharing, Jack. It sounds like the reality of the situation with L is as many of us feared. No resolution in sight. Wouldn't it be something if they simply stopped the L trial after all of these years? Maybe the IA results were so dismal that they stopped screening new patients to buy as much time as possible for Direct to show something positive. Even Les is now trying to temper expectations, yikes!!
Well, I guess maybe there won't be a rush to get back in the stock during January. At least not until the investigation is wrapped up, which is March at the earliest. If the 12m really is for the launch Direct phase 2, I am really confused about the small amount they financed. If they are planning to conduct multiple large cohorts in parallel, it will take many multiples of the amount they received...Hmm, not passing the sniff test in my book. Happy New Year!!
Haha it is quite amusing to read some of the posts from folks claiming to have years of investing experience and they obviously have no clue about how a public company should be managed. What's even more hilarious is that some folks think that LP's leadership style is somehow justified. I believe the next few months will be very interesting and I'm sure certain folks here will be very creative with their incessant defending, deflecting, spinning, and conjuring of conspiracy theories. Hopefully the folks that need to be brought to justice will be dealt with swiftly and to the full extent of the law.
Quick question. One of the allegations in the Phase V report was directly related to one of NWBO's directors and transactions regarding the transfer of millions of shares and warrants after this director published a very positive investment report on nwbo. Many of the longs here quickly dismissed the report as baseless and not worthy of review or refute. This was also Linda's apparent attitude about it as well.
So, why in your opinion did nwbo's largest institutional shareholder (the Buffett of the UK) take the report seriously and why did the nwbo director lose his job as an investment analyst following the phase V report? Seems kind of odd if everything in the report was baloney don't ya think? What other issues do you think will be brought to light in the coming months? Do you think the genius may have crossed the line with any of her dealings or actions?
Your comments regarding the recent financing sound very naive. Do you understand how toxic financings work and why they are called toxic? Do you understand the role that warrants play in these financings and how they are used?
No, you are very wrong!! I invested more because over one ago the CEO stated that they were "very close" to beginning the Direct phase 2 trial. One year and over 100m later, they haven't even started the phase 2 and as of the end of November didn't even have the plans finalized. We have never been told why. I don't know why you and other longs don't seem to care about this, but I do. Then there's the L trial being put on hold indefinitely without any explanation among many other issues. You act like everything is going according to plan..
Now you're just making me hungry.
How do I "vote against"? I didn't see that option. Please explain.
I just read your post, and I must say, it is even less interesting than many of the other posts I've read over the past 24 hours. It's a MB!! Feel free to stop reading at any time..
That is correct. At least DNDN had something of value (IP) to sell in bankruptcy. NWBO has absolutely nothing of value if this goes south.
#1. The discussion concerning the recent voting is centered around several posters who continue to perpetuate conjecture that Woodford is satisfied with Linda's recent decisions as evidenced by his recent vote for her at the annual meeting. As has been pointed out multiple times, this is completely false. Subsequently, the argument has been changed to claim that he simply didn't vote against her which is true. But it flies in the face of the original claim that his vote showed his support, because he didn't vote.
#2. I asked a simple question if LP had complied with NW's request to appoint a new non-executive director. To which you replied yes. And then pasted the press release which says they are looking for one. I'm very tired of the spin!!
You have a valid point regarding the mortgage. If I were the lending institution and became aware of the ongoing turmoil, I would immediately call the loan due to the uncertainty of the situation. Important to remember the current debacle has been in several of the prominent UK newspapers due to Woodford's position.
With regard to nwbo's current financial position, I suggest you also need to factor in the accounts payable that had already accrued when they received Woodford's last 30m.
