Cashew Lovers Poppycock. This stuff should be a Schedule II controlled substance. I discovered it today, and I haven't stopped eating it yet! "Butter Flavor Popcorn Clusters" is says on the label, but I'm thinking more along the lines of opium or some other narcotic. Actually, it's better than Percocet, because you don't have to wait 45 minutes for the rush.
I'm doomed.
I didn't think AMD had what it took to fill that monster gap, but it's doing it and I'm eating my words.
Dell could (and should) fill it. I think it'd be a good play for someone not afraid of a little risk.
I just bought 5 new Dell desktops for the network at work, and their customer service and products are still first class. Nothing wrong with their business model that a little IT spending won't cure.
All that is just my opinion, of course.
Closed out my position in SMTL this afternoon at 11.42 from 8.37 in early January.
Nice return on 500 shares, takes the sting out of some of my bonehead plays with the penny-stocks this past week.
By the time Buzz comes back from vacation, I won't own anything under 4.00 a share (I hope.) In the last 6 months I'm up over 15% on stocks over 4.00 a share, and I'm down 12% on stocks under 4.00 a share.
Also in the last 6 months, I have had nothing but winners in stocks over 7.00 a share, nothing but losers in stocks under 1.00.
Hello??? I'm finally getting a clue...
Hard to say how this will play out in the morning, though. There is enough bad news from Dell to cast a shadow over the NASDAQ tomorrow if the traders want to see it, but there was enough good news to do the reverse, too.
After tech got tied to the whipping post over Cisco, everyone may still be in the mood for some more blood-letting and Dell could get roughed up pretty soundly tomorrow. I'm long in SMTL and MIPS so I kind of hope the NAZ gets treated kindly tomorrow.
HESG chart - If this legislation gets passed, this thing could run even harder. See the news blurb below the chart.
LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 10, 2005--Health Sciences Group, Inc. (OTCBB:HESG), provider of innovative nutritional products derived from natural sources, announced today that it has expanded its pharmaceutical operations to offer contract compounding services to other independent pharmacies. The recently proposed legislation, which is expected to amend Section 4123 of the California Pharmacy Business and Professions Code, will allow pharmacies to contract with other pharmacies in compounding drugs on behalf of their patients without requiring approval from regulators.
AMD chart - I'll be honest and admit that I did not believe they could recover enough to fill that gap, but it looks like I was flat wrong. Pretty stout company.
ALTI chart - unreal isn't the word... unearthly maybe? I sincerely hope that somewhere, someone is typing up their letter of resignation and preparing for early retirement because of this stock's actions today.
Back in a little while. I have to run over to the PumpYourPennyPOS board & see if I can get something started with EZTO.
testing... testing... TO DA MOON!
ORB all out at 10.79... took the money and ran.
That's going to leave a place on ya'....
Yep, I'm seeing that exact thing in MIPS. I've been riding 300 shares of this stock since $11.00, looking at $14.00 as my target, and today it's in the tank by 46 cents and still falling.
If I had sold yesterday, I could have gotten out at 13.30 with a tidy profit of almost $700. Now I'm debating whether or not to go on and sell it and be happy with what I've got, or hold it another day or three.
Considering what you just said, I think I'll go ahead and sell it.
Ooooooooooohhh! How cool is that?!!?! Hope you have a fantastic time, you've earned it.
And an unemployed nut, now. My impression was that the stock holders didn't like her, her management team didn't like her, and the rank and file employees didn't like her.
But the market loved HPQ today, up a buck thirty-nine (7%).
Funny, I just upgraded 5 desktops at work this week and chose HP inkjet printers to go along with the new PCs. These new HP inkjets are fantastic, but I don't guess Carly had much to do with that.
Costa Rica? Carriage Return?
SMSI chart - I took a small position at 7.10 on a pretty decent earnings report. Not earth-shaking, but enough of an upside to be optimistic about it. My target is right there at the 50 day line, about 8.45.
Are you going anywhere for your vacation? Hope you have a great time, but you'll be sorely missed around here.
Yep, I'm glad I stayed away. Speaking of fired, did you see what happened to Carly over at HP? Boom, gone, just like that. Well, actually they had been talking about it for over a month. But she got the axe today & HPQ at one point was up over 10% on the news. I'm going to check to see where it closed.
Wow, what an attitude! That jerk needs to take some of his profits (if any) and seek professional help.
That must be really miserable, living like that. Makes Brig look like the tooth-fairy.
Here's the lead paragraphs of the CORI earnings statement:
PORTLAND, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 9, 2005--Corillian Corp. (Nasdaq:CORI), the top provider of online banking solutions to leading financial institutions, today reported financial results for the fourth quarter and year ended December 31, 2004.

Goodyear (GT) - I've got to check news and filings, but I'm looking now at this for an entry around 13.90, depending on how it closes today and how it starts the day tomorrow. I've had good luck with this in the past.
If I stay out of CORI, they will report a zillion dollars EPS and it will gap up to $5.40.
I think, as a favor to all the good people here, I'll just stay out and enjoy your "weeeeees" from the sidelines.
If I buy that 500 shares I was thinking about, it'll closely resemble the Hindenburg.
But like you said, Buzz, it's not acting like a stock that has an upside surprise up its sleeve.
DARN! HP tossed Carly out on her ear & I was just wondering if it was time to go long in HPQ. Well, it's too late to worry about it now.
More good news from Middle Earth... er, the Middle East.
JERUSALEM (Reuters) - Israel said on Wednesday it would shortly reopen its border with Gaza to Palestinian workers and merchants -- the first follow-up to a cease-fire summit in Egypt that resuscitated hope for Middle East peacemaking.
Adding to a mood of optimism, the "Quartet" of United States, Russia, United Nations and European Union said they would attend a Palestinian reconstruction conference set for March 1-2 in London.
Next trendy tourist resort, Beirut. It used to be called the "Paris of the Med".
THIS is the one I intended to post:
Term Of The Day: Super Bowl Indicator
------------------------------------------------------------
An indicator based on the belief that a Super Bowl win for a
team from the old AFL (AFC division) foretells a decline in
the stock market for the coming year, and that a win from a
team from the old NFL (NFC division) means the stock market
will be up for the year.
Investopedia Says:
------------------------------------------------------------
No, we are not making this term up! But, coincidentally or not,
this indicator has been surprisingly accurate over the past years
(around 85% correct). Even so, we wouldn't suggest betting the
farm on it....
Term Of The Day: Outstanding Shares
------------------------------------------------------------
Stock currently held by investors, including restricted shares
owned by the company's officers and insiders as well as those
held by the public. Shares that have been repurchased by the
company are not considered outstanding stock. They are also
known as "issued shares" or "issued and outstanding".
Investopedia Says:
------------------------------------------------------------
This number is shown on company's' balance sheets under the
heading "Capital Stock" and is more important than the authorized
shares or float. It is used in the calculation of many widely
used metrics including "market capitalization" and "Earnings-per-Share(EPS)".
Maria in drag? She scared me to death the other day, she said Prethident Bush...
Isn't it amazing how much beauty there is all around us? And with just a tiny shift in perception, you get to enjoy and appreciate all of it just the way God intended. The beauty of a sunset, the mountains, people, animals, the ocean... it's endless.

This just in: Janet Jackson has at least one breast. Lots of people saw it. Shock and awe, there is rumor adrift across the land that she may actually have TWO OF THEM!
And what's even more alarming, secrets revealed from hospitals and other places of health care reveal that as much as half the population of this great land of our may also have a breast or two.
Film at 11:00, but not of the breasts.
ORB has always been good to me, as if a stock could choose to be good or bad, LOL.
Nevertheless, between ORB, SPN, AMAT, and SMTL I've made more money than almost all my other plays combined. I hit a couple of good licks with Goodyear Tire and Ford Motor Co. also, but haven't been back to either one in a while and Goodyear is doing very nicely right now.
I don't do well with micro-caps because those cretins I work for don't like to see me staring at a streamer or a level 2 screen during working hours. Imagine that!
I feel like it was very important to my success to finally realize where my "sweet spot" was... that combination of price, my abilities (or lack thereof), and how much time I could devote to the market.
I sure did want to add some more ORB today if/when it dipped... oh well, hard to complain considering what it did today. Buzz, you still buying it?
More like a knee fake today, LOL.
This news is probably the best thing I've seen so far in the still-young year of 2005:
Mideast Leaders Promise to Halt Violence
By RAMIT PLUSHNICK-MASTI, Associated Press Writer
SHARM EL SHEIK, Egypt - In a crucial step heralded as a fresh start to peacemaking, Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas promised Tuesday to halt all acts of violence and agreed to meet again soon to tackle the tougher issues that for decades have blocked the road to peace.
There is more, but "halt all acts of violence" was plenty for me. Peace in the Middle East. A dream come true.
FATS - Anyone else watching this piece of doo-doo? That action today looks like a giant head fake, but I'm keeping it on watch at least until I can get some dd done on it.
PCIS nice call, Buzz. Lordy, I wish I knew how you did that!!
The half-time show you DIDN'T see yesterday...
Please see post # 1186.
ORB having a good day. em
Thanks, I needed that.
Bad hair day...
What I want to know is why they haven't taken on the manufacturer of Levitra and their TV ads about "quality erections" and how important it is that his beautiful/girlfriend wife be there for him "when HE wants it".
Listen to the verbage on their commercials and it will really surprise you just how frank they are about how the drug works. I certainly don't mind the commercials... hell, lots of people enjoy sex and it shouldn't be a taboo subject for TV.
But how is an accidentally bared breast shown for about 10 seconds any more indecent than a full 60 second spot about a medication designed solely to improve the quality of intercourse? And they show that advertisement throughout the broadcast day, even prime-time.
It's all so stupid!!
