Long here too and it is a unigue penny. All the others skyrocket on promises and no substance, here we have substance and no one making promises. But the company in itself is the promise. Clancy is growing, and they sure aren't joking about the INTERNATIONAL part of the name. The other remarkable trait is the customer turnover rate. It's been great, though I imagine future competition and a growing customer base will change that near 100% retention rate. Let's face it, municipalities are shoppers, and they go with the cheapest bid, even when it costs thwem money to do so. But if the service is known, and can print good results, and even have the customers reporting revenue from the increased fines, well we just get to chug along. But have no doubt, the little engine that could is getting bigger and stronger everyday. The population of the last two customers in the prs is at least 10 million and thats going to produce some revenue stream. So Looking forward to a continued and growing revenue stream, and even more contented customers, we are all in good shape for the future. Go Clancy!

Grateful: I have no problem with the excellent effort you made. I wish I could have worded as cogent a letter. I believe it is a courtesy to advise the company, and though not mandatory, and we have freedom of speech and a right to protect our investments, it's always good to let the folks at DNAP know what we say and how we feel. I think it's a case of it can't hurt to let them have a copy. Now if a private reply was made to you, or me from such an endeavor, I would keep it so, if it truly was a private reply. This is one of those gray areas brought about by the internet. Snail mail would of course be just a "lookee here" letter from you to ABC about xyz and you wouldn't blind carbon ABC. And if you got a "thank you for your concern" back from xyz you could pretty much figure it was a form letter they send to everybody who writes in. Case closed. But now with the immediacy of the internet, you can get a lot higher in a corp. by knowing an e-mail address. Probably to do with quicker review of the e-mail. And the old form letter may be cut and paste with an additional personalized comment. (which is a lot better I think. But letting the subject know there is conversation ongoing about it, provides the subject an avenue to correct any misinformation, or misaprehension that may arise. Your letter did not contain anything that I could see would be misconstrued or misread and taken to mean something other than a straightforward advisory to someone who wasn't aware of the good works of Doctor Frudakis. I again laud and bravo your effort. Just think the company should have a copy of the letter as a matter of courtesy. You do what you feel is right. I would send them (DNAP)a copy of my correspondence, if even to a news reporter.
I remember previous post from Carey long time ago that essentially said go for it. You did, and the letter you posted here did us all proud. Thank you.

Grateful: Always a good idea to BCC a copy to the company. You may be just an investor, but when you volunteer to be an ad hoc spokesman, you should let the company know about it. No one likes to get blindsided. It's just a good practice to follow. Nice letter. Couldn't have been any better. Thank you for spending the time to compose it.

Joye1 Thanks here too. A very important article for anyone who has been bombarded into doubting the objects and aims of DNAP. Someone from DNAP should visit that doctor, and Mister Lopez should have a chat with that CEO.

It's those rascally Virginia programmers who are at fault! Everyome knows they can't write code to save thier lives! Why don't they go back to where they came from. Let real Americans do the work! Billycal: That would appear to be backburnered at the current timI'm sure Zach Gaskin?? is involved in getting the accreditation, but if this whole company is in the state of turmoil and upheaval that it appears to be, I think all the investors will just have to wait and watch the direction we fly in. Doing the modifications to 900 Coconut to make it a forensic only site might be part of the plan or not. Moving the whole operation to Seatle or some other bio-park area is always a possibility, and we have seen activity by many states ( US and countries) to attract 21st century technology. If a big change is in the offing, geography won't matter, and with the internet, as long as you have connectivity, you are essentially there. The only big problem is the International Date Line and the confusion it causes!

What it does mean is that Senecio has an interest as an owner or contractor re: the site for DNAPrintAisaPacific.Com This is not a DNApro and is not Dun & Bradstreet at this link. It appears if you click on properties for the page as Sencecio but under the A&P name. Goodness! May be able to afford groceries this week! Does "Dee A&P" give stamps or warrants??????

Just to say Hi to Cal. Welcome aboard! You commented elsewhere on the level of bash being perpetrated. It sure is loud over there! Basically a fruitless exercise in culling the clutter, and fortunately for those here, all the dilligence (without slant) is being presented here for discussion. The only problem of late is the lack of ground pounding earth shattering news. The funny thing about that though is sometimes the little tidbits can add up to a real earthmover. It is quite unfortunate that valuable time that could be researching all the possible avenues of investigation can be wasted in nonsenical discussions with proponents of FUD about how full that coke machine is. I guess this is just my way of saying we've all gotta' keep our eye on the end game, and not be suckered by the distractions the Merchants of FUD can create from unverifiable conjecture. We see many changes occurring at DNAP and with all the tight lips, we only have the due dilligence we uncover to keep the goal posts illuminated. Sometimes that light flickers, but if you keep your head out of the darkness you'll realize that the road ahead isn't as rocky as the one behind.
I have determined for myself at least that time spent on research and dilligence is a far better quality of time than any sport that develops from baiting the bashers.

Just wanted to comment here. Some derision of CEO travel has been posted by some shallow thinkers. I personally feel there is more opportunity around Boston New York Washington for medical Alliances etc. than in Sarasota. I imagine it is more expiditious for the CEO to visit prospects from a base in that region than Sarasota.
(Swab in Cheek) But then I'm sure that when he returns to Sarasota for that week in the sun, he's glad to sweep the floors and give Carrie a break loading the Coke machine. Or is it Pepsi? We gotta know! Who was there last? Is the coffee service hired out or to they brew thier own? Do they use real milk or Cremoras? Do they buy groceries at the DN A & P.???? Oh so many questions.

Thanks MingWanO. I am in a mood tonight. I just did a poem on RB. And of course the counter FUD post. I am stone cold sober and not under the influence of any mood altering substance, simply have made a decision to cannonball the pool!

Mingwan0: So even with a number of computers in one place, if you wanted to network a number of multiple computer sites, you'd need a whole domain and software to handle security. Jeez Mingwan0, you'd need a pretty good computer engineering group in the mix to help out. I think those guys are all busy with the NIH getting the security systems up that deal with doctor reporting on bioterrorism. It would be great idf DNAPhenomics or even DMAP could find a company of such capability to work with. Of course they would have to find one with a proven track record. Wow that would be great synergy if they could find one. Is there SENse In looking for a COmpany like that?

Well with all the noises going on, I wanted to throw some thoughts out for collective confering, and apologies to Arch, but a little reversi FUD.
We all remember that DNAPrint said there was no connection.
Wasn't that a pretty picture of the moon rising over the towers in the bay?
Senecio is handling web sites for everyone but DNAPrint in Tampa.
DNAPrint tells us the website is to be changed. It hasn't been updated in a long time to any degree has it? Could almost make you think it needs a whole makeover by a new service provider.
It is a shame that the foriegn nationals working in the US had to leave, for whayever reasons, but this is indicative to me, of the current political climate. If they can't keep security up at GITMO, well, once the govt. gets uptight about a percieved threat they get all really uptight. Anybody heard the name McCarthy or the HUAC?
Now there is no comparison, or any I would consider, except the most extreme, and that would be national security. But Doctor Frudakis is not in that circle of people who would assign a sensitive national security project to a little company in Florida.
If anyone wants more off the wall connections, I can go on and on and I didn't even hit the private placement yet!

Questions: For the more experienced here.
What is the purpose of a quiet period?
Does announcing you are in a quiet period violate the quiet period?
How long is a quiet period generally expected to run?
OT: 66FAN and Joye: You and Joye got slammed around today because the bashers needed a break from the cacaphony of negative noise they had created. While they created a ruckus with you, the rest of the slop they were posting was broken up. If they hadn't had you two to negativeize, they would have just had one enormous slur against DNAP with their postings.
When given the source of the comments about your posts wording, just chalk it up to the level of intelligence you have to deal with. They are not dumb bunnies and enjoy ruining your day anyway they can. If it requires being intransigent they will and be so beyond any rational level for anyone who cloaks themselves in the level of astutness they ascribe.
Maybe I think now of DNAP as a coiled spring, and the harder they push it down to compress it, it will spring back tossing them all on thier collective posteriors.

OT:Ustacud: I have no intelligence from inside sources, I have no pipeline to the company through "a friendly "deepthroat"", and I have been wrong many times more than I've been right. That being said, I look on the antics of this last weekend as a massive effort by a few traders to knock all the "wavering hands" loose of the shares they hold. I just don't think the massive attack on DNAP was made by the altruistic fairy or any other entity that had no agenda but to allow a stockholder to cash in his chips for his own well being. I mean these people are not telling you "an apple a day..." are they? They have a motive. They want you to sell your shares. What motive would they have for you to sell your shares? Is it to benefit you? Would your selling at this level incur a loss for you? Are they hoping to prevent you from having a bigger loss? They sure have gone to a lot of effort to make a whole lot of scary noises to get you or others to sell. They spent the whole weekend belaboring the point. As I said in a previous post, I'm usually a contrarian when someone tries to force my hand. Taht doesn't mean I don't listen to good advice or draw my own conclusions from what I've researched. I think you have "researched" some of the people who post both on RB and IHUB. You can draw a conclusion from the nature of the posts what those people are about. In money matters no one is your friend, everyone is out to take. Some though, want it all. Others of us are in a different boat and choose to paddle together. We may be honest, but we could be wrong. That's where all that due dilligence comes in. If you are happy with what you have learned from authoritive sources, stand on that. If you let non-authoritive sources preach FUD, then you will drop the paddle and the rest of us will pick up the stroke. Remember that everyone is here to make money. Some use tactics that are not acceptable in polite society, but that is the way and the life they lead. I'm in the canoue for the duration and even if the portage is hard, I will get to the destination. I don't know where or when or how nice the destination will be, but I'm determined to find out. I just can't token the people who are looking out for my best interest telling me to throw my paddle away and villifying all those in the boat I'm in.
The private placement is going on and the company is experiencing growing pains. Reason for concern??? It' sort of what you would expect isn't it? The research has been "completed" and now the finishing touches are being applied. The platform works on Witness and Ancestry and further refinement is ongoing. It's time to sell the product. To bad we had to spend big bucks via share participation to get the people we got. Maybe it will be well worth the cost. Private placement. More cost to us original holders. How do you make money on no money? You have to travel, buy resources, equipment, plant, alliances, airfare, etc etc etc. It doesn't get done for free. If you are uncomfortable with these realities of the business world, wise up. They are the cruel and usual facts of life. You already know this though. Maybe I'm just typing this to reassure myself. Hey you paddle for a while, I'll steer! I don't think anyone has to bail because this little boat looks pretty tight, despite all the knocks it's taking. "Someone asked an Irishman if he liked working for the British when they built the Titanic. He said no, as long as they let us make more ice!"

Stakddek
To all: There is much noise this weekend. I really think you have to pile the good due dilligence in one pile and all the spin, both pro and con in other piles. This leaves you with a lot of piles, which is uncomfortable. To relieve the pain, you should shrink your piles. You do this by putting all the spin in the thrash can. All of it. Now you just have one pile, and lo and behold, it's the softest cushiest pillow you ever sat on, but at the same time is the rock hard foundation of why you are really here and give a damn. Given all the hubbub bub, watch for opportunities to better your position, as is your want. It is a shame to let all the hard work by so many interested disinterested parties go to waste. This is strictly my opinion, and being a child of the sixties I am always a contrarian. (Actually I am a war babe but since I only have vague recollections of Truman and Eisenhower, I do claim the sixties as my formative years.)
Best to all.

(Sixties is when we went to the moon. Made the trip vicariously with Armstrong, Looking forward to making this trip with Frudakis and DNAP crew.)
It is a time for careful consideration.
The first assault came from a very new poster on RB (2) posts who claimed things were up. Tony Tox asked about it. A posted conversation ensued. Followed shortly by "the letter" from the PHD with no verbal or spelling skills. Many "new longs" (not longs of LONG standing) shout abuse and horror. (Our buddy Roger the Swiss opted out at 5 cents, but I don't include him in this broad brush). Now the noise raised by the "violated" investors, encompasses not only a change of accounting firms, (from local sized firm to regional sized firm) but treatment of employees who left the company months ago. Are they disgruntled? Who wouldn't be! Did they leave with shares in the bank? I don't know. Do we have a case of Business vs Science? You bet we do.
We all know DNAP has been on a tight budget, and most were hoping that the shares sold during the LA notoriety period would allow funding for continued operation. Shares have been bought and sold throughout this time frame and to my eye, have been in keeping with the spirit of the current laws that look glaringly on oportunistic "dumping" of shares by insiders when good news or bad news occurs.
The previous accounting firm required a "boilerplate" about continued operation. Was this a big surprise? The company entered into a private placement for additional funding. Did this change the expectation of remaining in business? Did LA and the increase in shareprice change it? So I guess you can argue the point, but most of us have to take out a mortgage or a car loan when we make a major expenditure. Same for a company. If we declare personal bankruptcy in the first few years the mortgage holder will lose money. If a company doesn't have the wherewithall to continue operations, or the expectation, it is the obligation of an honest independent accountant to state so. As I recall, this statement has not been included in recent filings.
Ahh the letter. Could be, but everything about it is tacky. Giving it veracity and acceptance as true, it says an ex employee is peeved at DNAP for not providing him health insurance and suitable pay for the period before he left. He begrudges the management team the "expenses" of being a management team. He decries the lack of funding for lab necessities??? (Couldn't quite understand that section) and "other things".
Okay. I'll buy that. That's his take on things. My take as an investor is different. I see the company operating on a shoestring budget and clawing for every penny to continue critical paths. We all knew this from the "boilerplate" warnings and the continual sales of shares. We saw the company shift focus from drug/dna interaction and promote Ancestry and Witness. We saw money here for DNAP and felt the cash flow problems would be forestalled. (No one likes a lazy robot! If it can work 24/7, it should be in use 24/7.) So now we do paternity too. And probably pet projects, (GMED) etc. If money is coming in to defray expenses, and it doesn't change the big picture, I'm happy.
Now the management staff has been in action. For about a year, and in some cases just a few months. The Private Placement has gone out and it appears many faithful longs have divested themselves of DNAP to purchase into the PP. Major shareholders, who feel the price protection built into the agreement is more attractive for a million share holder and they are in a position to act on this because they are not Joe Blow with 50,000 shares at market value.
So we have this private placement coming due soon, and shares are possibly assigned to the units based on an average price for x days before the closing, and we have all this broohahhah occurring. Seems like normal cutthroat business to me. Imagine being in a theatre with 2000 other patrons when someone yells fire. And you feel the heat. And you see the flames. And a person near you is on fire. Do you help the Grandma with the three kids to the exit or you jump, scramble and claw to get your butt to safety? Now in this little scenario lets put the basher crew holding up a magnifying glass to every perceived inequity and fault they can uncover. Yup! Fear Uncertainty and Doubt. And then let's add a few miscreants who decide to pour gasoline down from the balcony. Now the "fire" isn't an accident but a contrived happening. No one knows who poured the gasoline, but the theatre burned down and many are destroyed. So they bulldoze the charred ruins and build a gambling casino with the insurance money. You Lose.
Now I don't think that anyone would go so far as to try and pour gasoline on a fire, but I do think they are quite capable of fanning the flames in a desired direction. We can all rest assured that a number of posters here and on RB are acting as prime movers and others are unwittingly aiding them. It's got to be worth a lot of bucks to someone or else the concerted effort of the last few days would not be being made. I believe this effort is directed at the private placement and the share price at close of the agreement. Look at all the new posters, and the return of some "old friends". Look at some new friends who are now sadly forced to condemn the company they have held dear for two or three months. Oh yes. Take a look around you at who is fanning the flames. It is unfortunate that the allegiance we profess and do provide for each other in due dilligence is merely a dim shadow through the veil of darkness being swept around DNAP by some parties who are playing for the real big bucks. I truly believe this is manipulation at it's best. I think we have sleepers and consorts we don't even know yet, but this weekend we will see more and more of them spreading the new gospel of FUD. Just my humble opinion, but I'm just one of the hoi poloi and not worthy of consideration.

Whopreferstobetheonlyonedoingso.
Yes All very nice Mingwan0 but when DNAP shareholders have to pay for these excursions by Doctor Frudakis that gets the name of DNAP before the scientific community who ends up paying for it? When pizza is ordered after one of these social events, does Doctor Frudakis pay for the pizza on our dime! It's obvious that anyone with a box of Crayola Crayons could produce a skin tone result that would be pretty close to accurate. And this eye color hubbub Bub. Just make the eyes closed. Who cares about the color. And these physical attributes they promise us? Why everyone nose there is a direct correllation between the void between the ears and body height. All this money spent on this genomics phenomics rubbish is going nowhere. It's obvious this company can never suceed with it's current plan of employing only officers. I feel that the only chance of future sucess barring an asteroid impact that erases Florida from the face of the earth is to develop that genetically modified cow that provides pepperoni flavored cheese for pizza. I have my mind made up and I will stand by my convictions until I have suitably bored all on this board as well as all other venues for posting my irrefutable arguments. It's so difficult dealing with all you lesser intellects. and if you don't like what I have to say it's because you are devotees of a false god. Repent and see the light. Your dreams are shards, your collaborators are evil and wicked and this board doesn't permit free diatribes. I have an open mind and will respect any of you pencil neck geeks who has the audacity to attempt to disagree with me. Then I will tell you why you're argument is sophmoric and you should be run out of town on a rail for being so foolish as to not see the world through my blinders. I've wasted enough time here. Please all sell your shares tomorrow before 11:00AM, but not before 10:45 because I don't get off from MacDonalds and I have to go to the bank to cash my check, and, unless it's really really cheap, I can't buy more than 500 shares at a time, and your all fools for hanging on and on and on and on....
Stakddek.
Really Really, no animals were used to produce the above post.
Okay, if it is not part of the confidential portion of the offering, can someone state the number of shares that "include" a shareholder for the mailing? I have mine in two accounts! With different brokers! Obviously I can call, but I don't like to bother on such mundane matters. Mail hasn't come yet today.

PS CHRIS: Now you have to watch what you don't say!!!
Spastic Elastic: Keep up the good work. We all realize it's not going to be perfect. It's just a shame that when you expend all the effort to "learn" us about the intracasies, that a few visitors drop by to rub your face in the vagaries. I guess it's thier way of saying thank you. You've made a great effort to teach us about a science and art that is beyond what we normally deal with. I'm not going to pass any test on it, but I do feel smarter from your tutelage. Please accept a THANK YOU from me.
Stakddek
Thanks Spastic for your continued tutorials. I will be quite pleased if it is necessary to admonish you for misfiguring the top of the next wave. .49 hah? We'll see, and like you, I am definitely discounting the alternative scenario. We all are aware that news may happen beyond the companies control.
You mentioned the increase in outstanding shares in the market diluting the "value" of the company. Have you any resource to factor this into the prognostication? In my case I simply put more salt around the cup rim, drink the ingredients and then use the cup to throw the bones. So far my method is 100%. It indicates nothing, but I enjoy trying!

GNLK: Anybody notice interday? EOM
OT: Well it's a slow day all around. No new dilligence, RB is back on the Commodore 64 and everyone is getting scared of having too much in the market. They "the experts" are saying that we've had a nice recovery in many stocks and it's quite possible for a retrenchement before the fall and winter seasons.
I've seem some of my holdings hit 52 week highs, but only the ones I'm afraid to trade out of. I still have a few that need to be weeded to capture some tax losses.
DNAP has been very quiet and despite a patent application being published for review, we've seen no action. (A couple of my pennies have actually started trading in volumes that are less shares than I own of them!)
So rather than waste your time with my blather, I will go about more productive tasks, and hope you all have a good weekend.
PS Ann: You and your family are in my prayers.
Stakddek
Thanks Ann: The tribute was difficult to watch for the memories it stirred. Those feelings of that day will always be there, and never diminish with time or circumstance. In hindsight we can look back with pride for the heroes and heroines who we never got a chance to appreciate while they lived. Sort of took them for granted, that if we needed them they would be there. Well when we needed them, they came. They gave thier all and then some. It's that attitude that will get us through these terror wars. It's really amazing when you think of it that people who have such a good life, who have so much to live for, will sacrifice it all because they believe in duty and honor and compassion for thier fellows. It was true on 9/11 and our soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan, and all the little he11 holes we never here about, carry on that tradition. I think our enemies see us as whimps and I guess they just never got to know us well enough to realize that we just didn't want to bother with them or "inflict" our ways on them. Well they are out there, and will keep on doing what they do so well, until they are eliminated. The spirit shown on 9/11 is what they never counted on. I don't think any of us is thinking about giving up and letting the Taliban rule this country, but a reminder like the one you posted is good to stiffen up some less than firm backbones.
I wonder if the scenes of 9/11 are as motivating to our generation as the pictures of Pearl Harbor were to our parents (grandparents) generation?

Thanks work: I understand the publication is by the Patent Office to allow a time period for prior art to be divulged and counter the DNAP application. I also guess this means we are a big step closer to being given that patent. Given the discussion here that the patent office is low on personel qualified to "ascertain" in these groundbreaking areas we may hope that the wait to issuance is not lenghty. Do you have any experienced guesstimate, given the exotic nature of this science? Thanks for speedy reply.
Stakddek
Mingwan0 and work2play: I appreciate your discussion, I question the motivation of DNAP? in allowing this information to be publicized. Is this publication part of the Patent process? Or is it a necessity brought about by other research impinging in DNAP staked territory? Either way I'm just glad to see progress on this front. Granted the impinging wouldn't be a good thing, but at least the patents are public, even if the public doesn't know what the heck they protect. I'm sure other groups are on this avenue, and now they know at least not to trespass, or who to seek to pay the toll. This is the way I understand it. Please advise me if as usual I have the strudel before the cart?!?

News Alert from GenoMed, Inc.
Encephalitis Again Avoided in GenoMed's Second Case of West Nile Virus Fever
Working with Infectious Disease specialist Robert G. Penn, MD, at Methodist Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska, GenoMed has seen its unique approach prevent encephalitis in a second case of West Nile virus.
A 50 year old white man taking BENICAR (olmesartan) for blood pressure was admitted with a fever of 104 degrees Fahrenheit. The patient tested positive for West Nile virus antibodies. He never had a stiff neck, which is a sign of meningitis, nor did he become confused or paralyzed, a sign of encephalitis. He remains on olmesartan 20 mg a day, still without encephalitis or meningitis.
At the same time, a 50 year old white woman who also had high blood pressure was admitted to the same hospital. She also tested positive for West Nile virus antibodies. However, she was admitted with paralysis of both legs. She had been taking a beta blocker-thiazide combination for her high blood pressure, not an angiotensin II blocker like the first patient, nor an ACE inhibitor. ACE stands for "angiotensin I-converting enzyme."
Since May, GenoMed has predicted that blocking angiotensin II is a specific way to avoid complications of West Nile virus and SARS.
GenoMed's first treated case of presumed West Nile virus encephalitis was a 41 year old Mexican woman whose headache and confusion disappeared within 12 hours of being given two doses of COZAAR (losartan), 50 mg each, 6 hours apart, followed by losartan daily. Her headache never recurred. She feels fine now, 3 weeks after her initial fever.
Many patients with West Nile virus continue to feel weak for weeks or months after their infection, probably due to an ongoing overly exuberant, quasi-autoimmune response. GenoMed is continuing ARB treatment for at least 1 month to avoid late-term sequelae such as chronic fatigue in its first two patients.
Losartan (COZAAR) and olmesartan (BENICAR) both belong to the class of angiotensin II receptor blocker drugs known as "ARBs". There are 5 other members of this class currently marketed in the US: candesartan (ATACAND), eprosartan (TEVETEN), irbesartan (AVAPRO), telmisartan (MICARDIS), and valsartan (DIOVAN). They are ideal for patients with normal blood pressure who nevertheless need angiotensin II blockade. ACE inhibitors are preferred for patients with significantly high blood pressure.
GenoMed currently receives no financial support nor collaboration from any of the drug companies which manufacture ARBs, the NIH, the World Health Orgnaization, nor any State Department of Health. The CDC is following GenoMed's case reports with interest but provides no direct support. None of the media (TV, radio, newspapers) have yet reported on GenoMed's novel approach to West Nile virus. GenoMed encourages you to pass this email notice along, since the West Nile virus epidemic is expected to peak in the next 1-2 weeks. By preventing encephalitis, GenoMed believes that its treatment will save lives over the next few weeks.

About GenoMed
GenoMed, Inc. is a Next Generation Disease Management(TM) whose mission is to improve patient outcomes by identifying the molecular pathways that cause disease. A St. Louis Business Journal article (http://www.stlouis.bizjournals.com/stlouis/stories/2002/05/13/story8.html) first reported that the company has applied for patents based on its finding that the ACE gene is associated with a large number of common diseases including virtually all autoimmune diseases, as well as drug allergies to pencillin and sulfa. GenoMed’s research results are more fully described on its website, www.genomedics.com (see "Company News").
GenoMed believes that this same approach will prevent the severe lung inflammation and death from the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS). SARS, like the West Nile virus, are both currently untreatable RNA viruses. Like West Nile virus encephalitis, SARS involves an overly exuberant response of the body's innate immune system, specifically of the body's macrophages, a kind of white blood cell.
The major difference is that SARS involves the lungs, whereas West Nile virus affects the brain. But the same immune cell is intimately involved in both diseases: the macrophage. Macrophages express ACE on their surface membrane when they become activated, suggesting that the enzyme's main product, angiotensin II, is involved in priming the immune response.
GenoMed has found that blocking angiotensin II has turned out to be a very safe and effective way to decrease overly exuberant host immune responses in several diseases, including psoriasis and alopecia. The latter two are skin diseases which involve T cells rather than macrophages. But T cells, like macrophages, also express ACE on their surface membrane when they become activated, so blocking angiotensin II is a logical approach. It has also been an effective approach.
GenoMed owns the relevant patents pending for this novel approach to viral and autoimmune diseases and is eager to license these out to patients and providers of health care.

proteins link to muscle disease

From Ananova: (Note subtractive proteonomics)

Newly-discovered proteins link to muscle disease
Dozens of newly-discovered proteins have been linked to devastating muscle and nerve degenerative diseases.
Scientists in the US identified 62 new proteins forming part of the protective wall around the cell nucleus.
Of these, 23 were strongly associated with 14 rare diseases. They included congenital, Limb-Girdle and spinal muscular dystrophy, and several forms of nerve-damaging Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease.
Identifying the proteins is the first step towards finding ways to detect, prevent and treat the disorders.
Potentially the study could help scientists find the cause of more than 300 human dystrophies.
Research leader Professor Larry Gerace, from the Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, California, said: "To understand how these diseases happen, we need to understand more about the players - the network of interlinked proteins."
Many rare but serious diseases have been linked to the inner nuclear membrane which lines the container holding a cell's genetic material.
On the inner surface of the membrane is a scaffold-like structure called the lamina, which not only helps maintain the shape and size of the nucleus but also contributes to the specialised functions of different cells.
Scientists believe when certain inner membrane malfunction they cause disease.
Professor Gerace's team used a technique called subtractive proteomics to identify 62 nuclear membrane proteins that were previously unknown.
Genes encoding 23 of these proteins were in chromosomal regions already implicated in the 14 diseases, making it highly likely that they were involved in the disorders.
The findings were reported today in the journal Science.
Professor Gerace said: "It's highly likely that some of these diseases will be due to the newly identified nuclear envelope proteins. This is a pretty big step forward."

Fear Uncertainty Doubt FUD=Propaganda Tell the big lie often and loud enough and it becomes the truth. Make your adversary lose the will to fight . It will inhibit all his actions and make him an easy victory.
my definition. Stakddek.
FUD is not just lies but method. When you are asked is that a true lie or a damn lie, either way you answer it's a lie you are admitting to. the purveyors of FUD will use every opportunity to create a mindset in the opponent of FUD. Careful use of language and sentence structure, adjectives and adverbs are all intertwined to create a subliminal message that weakens the opponent. In efect an art stolen from Madison Ave and used as a tool by the militiary and adolescent college geeks who are wont to play to prove thier superiority. It none the less is an effective tool when utilized properly.

GCBR: You can't shoot back with name calling, even if it is deserved. Now I've never read your posts here for the bicker factor. I did enjoy them, and when you did attack you were appropriately vicious but, this forum was founded on the concept of using it as a place to do effective due dilligence and not have 100 posts a day of name calling and inuendo swapping. It got out of hand today when Joy posted the reply fromIR about 7 employees. Clarification was attempted based on known material, and of course the cross pollination turned into rape. Granted it is very difficult to just ignore the taunters, but if we do not do so so, the reason we left the barnyard and all the excrement behind becomes mute. We end up creating our own manure pile.
I hope it's simply a matter of utilizing the forums appropriately. If we can keep the static here to a minimum the message will be more discernable. Theo spoke well and his comments about ego are well founded. His observation about not affecting the share price however will surely fall on deaf ears. The more malicious posters certainly believe the efforts they expend have more than a effect on ourself esteem. Why they believe so I cannot fathom but ipso-facto. You've always been an opponent of FUD and because of the nature of this forum, "civility", we must resort to long winded verbage stated over and over to get the points across. Granted, a 2*4 is an excellent learning aid, but not in this neck of the woods.
Please don't throw out the baby with the bathwater. You have made many valuable contributions wherever and whenever you have posted. I realize you feel the stricture is just on you, but I don't think it's just being applied to you that way. It will be applied fairly and across the board. So buckey up and turn that adrenaline into more of the dilligence you do so well and bury them with fact. We know evwerything isn't roses we find, but I've always felt we at leasdt informed one another of both the good and the bad. the fact that some barnyard critters can twist and distort to make every unawarded grant and every unanswerable question a weapon in whatever their quest is, well it's just something we have to live with, or countre with fact without descending to the level they play at. I know your better than that, and I hope you will continue to contribute here.

My postulation about the stated "7 employees" assumed that Doctor Frudakis and the Officers are employees. If we remove them from the equation, that leaves 5 unknown parties at DNAP. Can we flesh out the statistician and other potential "employees" as stated by DNAP??
I think Kuala Lampur is a vital and thriving city and well worth a visit by a traveler who might be transitting the area. As far as having to travel such vast distances, I believe Malaysia is a day trip from India, while Florida is a trek!
(But then videoconferencing or videoconsulting can alleviate so much of the travel).

Okay: Let's figure this out.
DNAP has seven employees. Now regardless of what they do, what are the names we know who have some position.
T. FRUDAKIS: Chief Scientific Officer
Carrio Castillo: Ancestry Coordinator
Gabriel
Gomez
Tambourini
Zach Gaskin Wittness Coordinator
This roster leaves one employee position open. Now I seem to recall many names associated with DNAP, and none of them have been mentioned of late. The question of course arises, where are they now. It seems inconceivable that DNAp is operating on a skeleton staff. There are orders, and there are filings and just the general plethora of an ongoing business. Now with any startup the people in the trenches have to wear many hats. I think the statement that there are only seven employees beggars many questions. Given that much of the legal and accounting is hired out, we still need a few hardy souls to stir the witches brew and stoke the robot.
In taking the company statement as fact, it becomes necesssary to account for the apparent lack of staffing in the boilerroom. I am a dreamer, and of course the only answer I come up with to fill my need for reassurance is DNAP has seven employees working at 900 Coconut Ave. I presume based on the concept of including the officers as employees that the work is being done by employees of another company, or a very intense training program is underway.
Perhaps I am jumping to conclusions, but with all the favorable reports about orders for Wittness and Ancestry, someone has to do the work. Am I missing something here? Or is there a case of the tip of the iceberg?
Would appreciate your comments. I may have missed a name or two that should be included on that roster.
