I think the good definitely outweighs the bad, even if your experience proves to be similar to what Eddie and crew will experience with Groupon.
Others think the negatives won't be so extreme...I guess we'll see. Either way I feel like it's either a win, or a huge win.
I get Groupon emails, I've never taken advantage of them, mainly because they're never things/services I was looking to use already. But, I do remember places/businesses, so I think in terms of brand recognition it's great.
I'm very curious to see what the response will be.
I see what you're saying, but I don't necessarily agree. Let's say I needed/wanted to move some funds from SMKY to other places, be it bills, investments, toys, etc.
Two weeks ago I'm thinking, great, I'm at 1500% (just for example), and with sales starting and financials and uplisting, I might just be at 2000-3000% in another week or two.
So I hold, and news comes out, great news. Several things. And the PPS is in a fairly steady decline. If I've already made the decision to sell at this point in time, sure, it sucks that I timed it badly, but if I can't or am not prepared to wait - it still makes sense to get out with a huge profit and move other places.
Especially if I think I have a stock that's going to make a run soon and I think it might move 300-500% in the next few weeks/month, it makes perfect sense ... SMKY isn't going to triple or quintuple anytime soon. We're at the point that, positive news adds validity to Eddie and the plan, and foundation for the longs, but it is no longer a catalyst for driving the PPS on what has, admittedly been speculation on future potential.
So I have no problem believing it's profit taking, and if there becomes fear of a gradual decline and I'm up a lot, it makes sense to secure some profits.
All that is hypothetical, as that's not my trading strategy, but I think profit taking is a valid reason for the selling now, combined with fear of losing even more unrealized profits.
Until recently we had investors purchasing shares based on speculation and future potential. Now we're operational. There is going to be some lag. There comes a point when folks that bought from .01 up to wherever, .06, .10, .20 etc just don't want to average WAY up on a budding, but baby company. I think there will be a waiting period. As we hear more details about Canadian affiliates, reports on WW response, Groupon response, and eventually PRs on earnings guidance, and official financials, we'll have a set of new investors come in that see that SMKY is undervalued. I just think it will take some time, and some folks don't like their money sitting stagnant. There's still few shares available, so when that next run comes, it will be rapid.
All my humble opinion of course.
I don't think he can order yet as he's in Canada if I remember his post correctly - hence the high interest in details on the Canadian affiliate beyond just another distribution/expansion avenue.
I'll caveat this with (I think)
Tsk tsk tsk... :)
If I was still stationed at Fort Hood I'd be tempted to make a trip up to Dallas and meet the folks in person. Curious to hear your review of the food. Won't be tasting any myself for personal dietary reasons, but trust your taste buds.
Been watching here for a while, considering starting a position here...want to continue building a couple of those others, but I do like to diversify.
welcome back. your pros and cons are very well laid out, you've clearly done some research and thinking.
i just have two comments:
- the WW ads are there if you go to the WW site and refresh. As Eddie stated in the newsletter, right now they're rotational ads, so they're not going to pop up every single time, as they rotate with other ads, much like the rotating billboards that have started springing up in recent years. so if you don't see an ad your first time, click refresh a few times...they're there, we promise :)
- could you elaborate on complications involving shipping food products? i didn't realize there were complications, but i may have missed something, unless you're referring to laws regarding exporting food from the U.S., or unless you're referring to packing considerations (styrofoam, dry ice, etc)...just not clear what you consider shipping complications and am curious to hear.
Yep, I agree. I employ both strategies in my own portfolio, i.e., I will take advantage of a stock's run, even if I don't think it's substantiated by underlying value. If people are willing to sell to me at a lower price than others are willing to buy a short time later, I won't complain - it gives me more funds to put into long term holds, so I'm not saying it's a bad strategy. But, I think it is a bad strategy for WNRC.
It's ok though - longs will continue to accumulate and when the market finally corrects and the PPS reflects actual value, the supply of shares will be that much smaller.
Thanks for the update.
I kinda doubt buyout is the immediate goal as profitability continues to increase, and PRs would imply that future acquisitions are being pursued. Buyout in the long term? Yes. Looks like you were hoping for a quick pop to flip ... which is fine, and is profitable.
Bid support isn't good, sure, but if I had more funds, I'd be buying at .17, as it's extremely undervalued, and that is the important thing. Regardless of the spread right now, the underlying value of the company far exceeds the PPS, which makes this a good investment. PPS will come with time.
Might not appeal to some trading strategies, but for others this is a pretty slam dunk long term hold.
I think you missed the point of the question/comment. The whole point is, nobody cares to do endless "what if" calculations for stocks that they don't own.
So, lamecat's question is just mindless chatter, it's not different than me asking what if I bought 2 million shares at .005 and sold at .024 a month ago or so when there was a run. I didn't make those transactions, so who cares.
That's the point. It's just mindless distractions. It has nothing to do with comparing the stock of one company with another.
I'm long also. If I was a trader I'd be pissed at this stock right now...but I'm patient and waiting. It would just be nice for once for people to take a chill pill when people have opinions that news isn't going to send this stock through the roof ... and then when the "bashers" are proven right, all the haters/cheerleaders seem to disappear.
Which raises the question - who thinks SG is a fraud? I don't, and if you read my post history, that is clear. And recently I haven't really seen anyone claiming he's a fraud.
Maybe they already left :)
And...no surprise here. Predictions of .0025 to .0035 or .005 happen every time before a news event. And...the PPS does the same thing.
But don't worry, everything's great (according to some folks here). The SS is fine. The fact that nothing is verifiable is fine. The revenues are fine. The debt is fine.
Still a patient long, just one more event to add validity to what several of us have been saying.
wish I had more funds available at open this morning, but the few i got ... almost 40% gain at .33 :)
would love to see that. i'm patiently hopeful. what do you think would cause a gap-up? news of financing?
got a few hundred at .24 ... tiny i know, but every little bit adds up
Oh, I care. Just don't post much here. Holding my shares though :)
Yep, time to try to pick up some more shares this week...
Thanks for the pics! Great to hear vendors are saying positive things! Looking forward to moving on up in the coming weeks here.
SMKY uplisted from pink sheets to OTCQB!
Well with a close of .24 on Friday, it won't take much to have a big week ... just a move back to previous highs would be a double from here ... maybe we can finally break .50 :)
I can't believe there's not more responses here already - you'd think people were doing stuff: like out partying, or watching college football, or a combination, or doing whatever family/social things people do on Saturday evening instead of just watching iHub :)
Good game shaping up between Nebraska and Wisconsin - just get too antsy without my computer hanging around to browse during commercials.
Monday morning is gonna be quite fun I think.
Yeah...this whole stock buyback, as much as I'd like to believe it...I'm a bit skeptical. Two other stocks I'm in that have done share reductions it's been a 3 step thing:
1. Announcement of share reduction/buyback
2. Details regarding exact numbers
3. Change in office O/S from TA
So far here we have number 1, and it's all conditional with a bunch of loopholes...which means that once again we'll go through a ton of speculation as to if it's going on, how much, how soon, and all that stuff that can't be verified.
Maybe someday something official will come out...it would be nice to see actual financials filed, as they would lay out the share structure and debt and all that stuff.
Great news! You know, regardless of the drop in the PPS the last week, it's so refreshing to continue to watch Eddie deliver on promise after promise. It's a total mental change to know that the business plan with all of it's layers and expansions are all a matter of "when" not "if."
Looking forward to the coming week(s).
Haha, my math sucks too. Hehe. Believe it or not, I can add zeros. :)
Hate to break it to you, but 3,333,333 is not 3 billion, it's 3.3 million. So you're either talking about a piddly amount of shares, or needing $60,000 to buyback 3 billion shares.
The most interesting thing about the share buyback to me is that there's nothing saying it will happen, only that the board has approved for it to happen "IF" it's the best choice at the time for use of those funds...starting...well Monday. Which means that there's no reason to believe that come Monday any of the volume is shares being bought by SG/company.
And as someone else has already pointed out, until they're retired, they're only out of circulation until they need them again.
We'll see...SG has been good on his word so far, but until we see something official showing that the O/S and A/S has been reduced, it's just more news that won't drive the PPS anywhere.
Yep, I'm one of those. Fortunately with SMKY I've been content with my position, and am nowhere close to selling, but I went ahead and switched from ChoiceTrade to Fidelity upon the recommendation of several other traders.
Not to get off the Penson topic and promote a certain brokerage, I'm not - but I've been happy since making the switch.
I think it is likely. If I remember correctly, it's the latter, and Eddie said some time ago that he was starting to initiate conversations with MMs to have things ready to go once filings were complete (today). Don't think it will take long.
I don't think RideTheTide ever stated that he thinks the company is being untruthful. In fact, my opinion of his statements would be that he would lean toward thinking that they are being truthful, as certain concrete things can be verified, such as announcement of ticker change and eventual ticker change.
I think his main point is that it needs to be stated that none of the information put out in PRs is verifiable, they are not legal filings, and therefore it is valid to present that to investors.
It's up to the individual to determine if they think the company is being truthful, untruthful, or don't know and don't care ... and to invest accordingly.
Nice...right on time, as usual. Thanks for posting the link.

Should answer your question.
Re-listing ... Eddie (CEO) talks about it in one of his posts...I'll see if I can find it for you.
WW isn't purchasing the product. Smoky Markets is in an advertising agreement with WW, paying WW to advertise on their site. WW has strict criteria though (obviously), so it's not like any joe blow can advertise with WW. The fact that Smoky ads are on the WW website automatically carries the approval of the WW organization.
The target audience is WW members, but they will be directed through Smoky ads to the Smoky Market website to order directly.
Looking forward to reading/seeing how your trip goes. Grand opening soon! Great to have someone close enough to make a visit!
I'm not sure how's related to the post you replied to...explain?
If you're wondering why beef tips are no longer being produced, it has nothing to do with seasonal and everything to do with maximizing production of the product that is a) by far the healthiest, b) being advertised on WW, c) has the highest profit margin.
Eddie's plan is to have all previous (and many additional) products brought back into the lineup in the future as the company expands. Right now the focus needs to be on generating the most revenues combined with the most profits, and that requires using full oven capacity for salmon.
wanna trade? i'll give you my .043s i got this morning for your .041s :)
should have just left my bid there ;)
oh well, i'm still learning to be patient. i figure at .20 or .25, a .002 difference back at .041 and .043 won't make a huge difference in my position.
oh, maybe your post wasn't directed at me...just easier to respond to the last post :)
worried?
I'm not worried. nothing i've ever posted would lend itself to concluding that i'm worried.
that was a backhanded way of saying "i told you so" after i got slammed by some folks in the last few days for offering my own predictions that we weren't going to blast through .003 or all the way to .005, or as one poster said to "mark this post" because we'll never see .0025 again after 12 p.m. today...
i'm not worried in the slightest. just pointing out that SEEK continues to react to news as it has for a long time, and wondering when those making wild predictions will dampen their predictions with a bit of past performance as a guide.
haha...one day these shares will be worth some dough...just not soon.
after about the third or fourth time of watching this happen with SEEK, positive news and then either no volume and/or a drop in pps, i realized that's just the way this stock trades. it's so much nicer now. i don't get excited. i'm glad SG has a plan that i think is a good one, and he has delivered on promises, and made big strides, and that's why i stick around, but excited? ...nah...
