Day 3 at the CES: My last full day at the CES promised to be a slightly more quiet and less hectic day (so I thought) as by now I was starting to get a true feel for the show. In addition, things were considerably less frenzied overall as I think the combination of everyone being there for 3 days already, plus from what I can only imagine are the many late nights out by the attendees, had started to give people a glazed and dazed look in their eye, similar to what you might see from the Tebow fanatics after the Broncos get crushed by the Patriots this weekend.

I visited the main Alcatel-Lucent/MMRF exhibit again in the South Hall to kick things off. I want to clarify something here. This is mainly an Alcatel-Lucent/ngConnect exhibit. Most of the signage is about them, and most of the reps and exec's there are A-L people as well, with the MMRF people talking to the crowd there, holding meetings, networking. I would guess that Alcatel-Lucent paid for this exhibit, both in rental and for the set up, and MMRF is there working in conjunction with Alcatel-Lucent on not only this very interesting new product, TeleConsult, but other future endeavors as well. But I want to make it clear that the MMRF product in regards to TeleConsult was in full display in the most prominent area of the exhibit-right where Mike, the A-L rep, was giving the demo's. It could not have been more obvious. From the laptop set out that had MyMedicalRecords webpage up, to the never ending large TV screen showing the lovely Kira talking from one of the videos MMRF currently has out.

After staying there a while, I was walking around when a lady carrying a cup of juice got jostled from behind and, having looked backwards at what was going on, failed to see the rather large foot protruding from the gentleman walking across her path. In what from here on out will be known as the " sticky juice incident", the jostle from behind started a comedic chain of events that led to her full cup of rather colorful and sticky juice, which I'm sure was very delicious and chock full of Vit C and other natural goodness, being spilled all over my favorite pair of designer slacks. Thoroughly embarrassed and quite apologetic, this woman offered to take me into the restroom to help clean me up. Was this whole thing a "move" on her part? A giant scheme to hit on me? My mind entertained that possibility, my ego may have wanted to believe it as she was an attractive women, but then the image of my lovely gf Rose came to mind holding a knife to my throat, so I declined and said no worries, I'll just run off to a taxi and return to my hotel for another set of slacks. So that is what I did, literally fast-walking the entire way with both of my hands holding large sheets of paper in front of my pants in some very strategic places.

After having gotten back to the hotel and reloaded my wardrobe, I then went to the smaller Alcatel-Lucent/MMRF booth, which I can tell you from what I saw was entirely manned by MMRF staff the whole week. From the very nice Joy and Rich to Bob and Kira, it was all MMRF, all the time. And might I add in a great location as well. There were MMRF brochures, prepaid cards, video cards, and the ever popular weepuls (whoopees) with MMRF signs attached to them for all to see, and to ask questions if needed. Here I met Bob again and stayed for a couple of hours or so. I need to preface this next part by saying that while I was walking around the halls for the week, occasionally I would run into people to talk to. And as smoothly and professionally as possible, I would ask them what company they worked for, what they did, etc. And...if I felt there was a possible lead there, would bring up MMRF and what they did. I talked to probably 30-40 people in this regard, and who knows maybe a few will turn into something. I know of one woman who I met and talked to while at lunch after she saw me reading a MMRF brochure, and which the next day turned into a 3 hour dinner (all business), looks VERY promising. So who knows.

Anyway, Bob and i had a chance to sit and talk there for another couple of hours, take pics, tell stories, etc. During all of this, I noticed one thing that really struck me, and that is that Bob is the consummate salesman. He has turned into quite the ceo, but underneath it all, he likes talking to people. And I don't mean that in the way that can be taken for example like a used car guy. I mean that in the most professional way possible. He just has a "way" of talking to people that seems to put them at ease right off the bat and that makes people want to like him. For example, at one point an older Asian man came up to the booth looking at the whoopees. He did not talk English very well, and he seemed quite the sullen and serious sort. He was kind of pointing at the little creatures and tried asking a few questions in English about them, so Bob started to explain what they were. Finally, after a minute or so and realizing that he wasn't really getting the message through, Bob just peeled the protective backing off of the sticky part of a whoopee and reached up and stuck it on the guys shirt. The man's reaction was priceless. His eyes and mouth opened wide the size of balloons, like he had just been shot! He was probably wondering what is this strange white man doing to me!?? But then after a few seconds, he realized what it was and laughed and the ice was broken. I saw similar things with countless people who came up to talk, some of whom exchanged business cards with Bob and again who knows, could lead to sales down the line.

Bob then wanted to take Kira for a walk around the hall, so it was time to bid everyone adieu as it was getting late and they had a plane to catch later that evening. I cannot thank Bob, Kira, Both Rich's, Joy, AJ, and everyone else there enough for the warm hospitality that they showed me. I came away from the event feeling a new found respect for the entire team there and came to a full realization about how much of an effort they are putting into this whole endeavor. I really cannot stress that enough. I feel very confident for everyone that as long as they are at work, this is going to have a huge payoff in the end. I just cannot see how it cannot end up any other way.


I will post some pics in another post. Please cut me a little slack as my phone/camera got dropped in a glass of beer a few weeks ago, and after spending 3 days in a coma, it came back to life, albeit with a few little glitches, one of which is sometimes the quality of the photos are not what they once were.

Knowing what you are doing doesnt need to be covered on you tube. MMRG was invited to ces they werent looking for the limelite but they definately complemented Lg and Alcatel Lucent with their presence. They were among some huge monsters and accepted with open arms for what they have to offer.

"According to a report from the Consumer Electronics Association, CES 2012 had approximately 153,000 visitors on the show floor this year. Compared to the 140,000 visitors that attended CES 2011, this constitutes a 9.3 percent increase in total attendees. The CEA claims that this was the largest show in the history of the event and approximately one fifth of the attendees were from areas outside the United States.

The CEO at the time of the FVRL merger was asked to commit to a certain plan and execute on that plan based on what the Federal govt. was doing and going to do with EMR's/PHR's. Everything was based on that. However, as we all know, things in the Federal bureaucracy tend to move slower than expected, if not get bogged down all together. However, sooner rather than later it appears, PHR's are going to be as regular a part of people's lives as cell phones now are.

Considering in the last 3 years while the Fed Govt has stalled on this issue, he has still reached many, many deals that would be considered great even for a Nasdaq listed stock. From the bio asset findings, to the deals with Chartis, Kodak, etc to the patents they are accumulating, he has more than lived up to what was expected of him. Let me put it this way, I can absolutely promise you that if Bob was not the CEO of this company, the stock would be under a penny, the company wouldn't have anything close to the assets it currently does, and nor would they have the type of deals and agreements (and potential deals) with some truly fine companies that they currently have.

Now, take away Bob-remove him from the company for a moment, but add back in to the balance sheet whatever monies you feel have been unnecessarily wasted on Bob and his compensation. From the stock options to the car allowance to the monthly salary (that he doesn't really get paid on at the moment). Do you feel the stock would be at 5 cents? 10 cents? Higher? I don't. Like I said, it is my very strong opinion the stock would be under a penny and the company would be floundering. Have mistakes been made along the way? You bet. And I have been pretty vocal about what I felt they were. I am not some koolaid drinker just wanting to believe whatever it is I want to have happen. My eyes are wide open. And what I see is a man and company making the best effort they can to make this work...for everyone. I've seen it with my own eyes, and that is all the proof I need. If you can offer a better argument than that, I am all ears.

At .04, possibly easy double.

Day 2 at the CES: After finally getting a decent night sleep after my prior night of fun in Sin City, I woke up feeling ready to explore all that the CES had to offer. I wandered around the North and Central Hall for quite some time, basically in awe of what I was seeing. SO MANY new and interesting products are ready to hit the market. And that includes what MMRF has coming as well. I touched on it briefly yesterday, but I think the prepaid card service that MMRF will offer could be something that revolutionizes the industry. Plus, it’s right up CEO Bob Lorsch’s alley. As many of you know he was the former CEO of SmarTalk and prepaid calling cards were something that he played large part in getting to the marketplace. Yesterday while walking around and talking to various people at the show, after some small talk I would showed a few of the more savvy tech guys I ran into the cards that MMRF has and what they did. I can tell you that the overall response was VERY positive. Many people, and I got this from a few yesterday, tend to avoid thinking about their health and what they can do to improve it. For no better reason that it scares them. People are afraid of dying of course, and afraid of news that can cause someone to get sick. I think the prepaid cards that MMRF will offer will increase the average consumer’s comfort level as far as getting a PHR service and and implementing it into their daily lives. Everyone uses these cards nowadays. People will see one and say “oh, that is kinda neat, I get to use the convenience of a card while at the same time doing something good for me and my family”. I think it will help to break the ice as far as getting a family to realize how valuable this service is, and how big a part it will play in everyone’s lives in the near future. Call it a gimmick, call it a ploy, call it an icebreaker, call it what it is-a great idea, but imo this product will play a huge part going forward in MMRF’s future.

Anyway, I wandered over to the Alcatel-Lucent exhibit area once again, and not seeing Bob or any of the other MMRF people around, I talked to Mike (the rep giving the demos) again about how everything was being received. The guy could not have been more positive about the responses he has been getting and he seemed really keyed up about the whole thing. Right then in fact, a group of Verizon people were starting to gather for a demo, so I stuck around and watched that with them, and again, while I wasn’t privy to their conversations, I could tell by the excited tone of their voices that they liked what they saw.

About that time Bob called and I was able to walk over to the hotel near the Convention Center again and meet with him and AJ. I really respect the amount of effort that Bob (and the whole team really) puts in on a daily basis. I know he had walked back and forth between exhibits a million times (no small feat as they are many football fields apart), had 3 or 4 different meetings, hob knobbed and talked to various customers and potential customers on the floor, went around with some patent lawyers and looked at all the various companies that could be violating the patents now in their possession, and then had time to meet with me for a while…..ALL before getting ready to have a private dinner with the Verizon people, which he seemed very excited about. Guys, this is all really good stuff. Read between the lines on a couple of things I just wrote. Patent lawyers + Verizon = Payoff. Patents because not only do they give tremendous underlying value to the company, not only because they give the company tremendous leverage in any kind of a buyout or merger, but finally also because they essentially give the company free money. A steady revenue stream that is just like having a bucket on the street that people keep dropping money into, without you having to lift a finger. It’s big guys. And Verizon because well, they are Verzion. The biggest mobile/wireless carrier on the planet. Getting hooked up with them is a giant step and the payoffs down the road could be breath taking.

Looking forward to see how it all shapes out. It should be exciting. I am off again to the show. Will check back in later.

One thing you need to realize, from what I understand he hasn't been actually receiving any of that money for quite some time. It is being accrued and owed to him. I mean he is the ceo. He does deserves to get paid right? :) IF/when the company grows and becomes a multi-hundred million or billion dollar company, then Bob will get what is owed to him, and it will have been well worth it.

Day 1 at the CES. I arrived at the CES show Tuesday morning after a LONG night the night before making sure that Vegas received all of my hard earned money so the city could properly function and pay its bills another day, and was immediately greeted by a huge mass of people the likes I have not seen since the huge number of bandwagon jumpers jumping off of the Indy Colt train when Peyton Manning got hurt this past year. I saw a plethora of people ranging from tech nerds, CEOS and executives walking around in $15,000 suits, men walking around in track suits, Jewish men with their Yamakas on, lots of people from China and Japan, to attractive models in tight little dresses (not that I noticed haha) all doing one thing, trying to get their badge and to get into the show to gawk and oogle at all the latest gadgetry and “techiness” that the corporate world wants the average Joe Schmo consumer to go into massive amounts of debt from and to spend billions on this year.

Having survived the hour long check in process, I made my way into the North Hall, which can only be described as the size of Mount Olympus X infinity. I wondered around in a daze for a while, checking out all of the wonderous sights, until I started to get my bearings and decided it might be a good time to find Bob and the MMRF exhibit they share with Alcatel-Lucent. I made my way through a second giant hall, with the super catchy name of wait for it…..the Central Hall, only to then find out I needed to walk the length of a football field or 100 and get to a THIRD HALL, aptly named the South Hall, to finally get to my goal. I tried to contact Bob but to no avail, but I wandered over there anyway. Of course as luck would have it, I didn’t recognize anyone as Bob and Kira were not around at the time, so I went back to the Central Hall and checked out the ESPN exhibit along with a few others. Finally, I heard back from Bob and made the long trek (after gassing up on some cold and not very appealing Quiznos) back to the South Hall. There I found Bob and Kira and I have to say seeing them was like seeing two angels in the light after seeing literally 10’s of thousands of people for the previous 3 hours and not knowing a soul. Bob was looking very sharp in his rather expensive European suit and after having recently lost some weight, and Kira was looking lovely as usual. Me? At this point my eyes were probably the shade of the red couch in my hotel room I am looking at while writing this, and my body felt like I had the much hyped bird flu ala 2009, but I was energized and excited to see everyone. I was then introduced to Richard Lagani-Exec VP, who I must say was looking rather dapper himself in his blue pin stripped suit. I was immediately struck by what a friendly guy he was, and after getting to talk to him a while, I saw what a very smart man he is as well. Bob is lucky to have him on his team. I can say that about everyone I met though.

After looking around the exhibit and checking things out, I noticed the Kodak booth and asked Bob about them and his relationship between the two companies, and he said basically that things could not be better, they are selling product at a good rate, and he was VERY happy with the relationship. So I hope that that settles the Kodak question in some people’s minds, including my own. Kodak seems to be here for the duration. I then walked over and talked to an Alcatel-Lucent rep who explained the entire TeleConsult system to me and what it did, and I must say I was pretty impressed. He then gave a live demo (while it was being filmed by MMRF-sorry but I forgot the guys name filming it). Basically it involved the Alcatel rep doing a few exercise moves, an upright row and a lateral move, which were then shown via a stick figure on a TV screen with the various joints being illustrated. (the right side TV in the pic I posted) The software then analyzed the info received and told the patient what he was doing right or wrong during the exercise, his vital signs, and some other health info relating to the movements. That info was then transmitted to his therapist in real time, who could analyze what he did right or wrong and make suggestions on what he can do to improve his health from whatever injury he suffered. So basically this allowed someone undergoing physical therapy to do it while in their home, while at the same time getting the teaching/instruction along with the health analysis needed to heal and get better. Finally the third step of this was everything was then instantly uploaded into the patients MMRF MyMedicalRecords account, where the patient could then store the info and go back to it for reference as needed. I could see this being a big plus for the average everyday guy at home, as well as the bigger hospitals and Doctor clinics around the world. Good stuff.

So, after hanging around for another hour or so, myself, Bob, Kira, and Richard L all made the long trek back to the main North Hall where we visited the 2nd, smaller, MMRF/Lucent-Alcatel booth that had some MMRF brochure and pamphlets, along with some more MMRF people manning the booth. We then went to the hotel and we all had a drink or two and were able to just talk in a relaxed and comfortable setting. We were joined by another Richard who now works for the company in the prepaid card area, AJ (very nice guy), and another EXTREMELY SHARP man who just flew in from Aspen and who is helping with their various patents. I won’t give his name because I am not sure how he is employed by the company, but needless to say the guy appears to be quite an asset. (liked his ski jacket btw) Of course the people there were very careful about what was said in front of me, but I was able to glean a few interesting tidbits. One, these people care…a lot. They care about their company, the shareholders, their image to the outside world, and finally they care about what is said about them and the company. Some, in regards to that last part of the statment….more than others, but they are all pretty much aware what is written about them, especially on this board. Bob especially really takes to heart what is written here. Not in a way that will affect how he runs the business, he will do what he has to do, but what struck me was just how wrong he feels some of what is written here is. But I feel that will drive him to prove the critics wrong even more, as he has been fighting the “fight” his entire life I am sure. I won’t use any of the exact quotes he said, but I can tell you that his number one goal, and I know this is cliché but I was told this time and time again, was increasing shareholder value. Does that mean there won’t be bumps along the way? Of course, just look at the past year. But I think the long term goal is still the same….to make everyone a gazillion dollars. Which is why while I understand some having an issue with the proposed JER transaction, if it comes to fruition this imo is just a stepping stone onto bigger and better things. A way to bring in some much needed cash while bridging the gap between their next move. And I just want to reiterate again that Bob has surrounded himself with some very smart people. I am talking Harvard Business grads, patent lawyers and experts, guys with a strong background in prepaid cards and PHRs and insurance. It is NOT your typical penny stock company that may have a CEO who may or may not have a degree from the Univ. of Phoenix School of Business and a trillion shares to sell. This is a company that is very much shaped (both in structure and manpower) and run like a Fortune 500 company. VERY very rare these days on the OTC and I know they hope, and I do as well, they aren’t on that market very much longer.

Also, I asked about the various patent PR’s and all of the confusion on what they mean. Basically, what I got from it is of course the first patent does not cover faxing a medical record. We were all fixated on the word FAX. You can’t patent something so broad. So if someone wanted to fax a document to their doctor, the patent does not apply. What the patent does cover is the PROCESS of FAXING or UPLOADING a PHR to ANY PHR system. So if a person or company is using another PHR system besides MMRF’s, if something is faxed or uploaded to that system, it will either violate the patent or, if there is an agreement between MMRF and that particular company, MMRF gets royalties. I guess I don’t need to tell you how potentially big that could be down the line. All you would really need is the 5 biggest fortune 500 companies involved in PHR’s having a licensing agreement with MMRF, and it could set up MMRF for good without potentially ever having to sell another MMPro, or a candy bar for that matter, again (not that that would happen). Just the patents and royalties from them alone could be worth $hundreds of millions or more. In fact this was discussed in a general sense and it was the consensus that down the line, this will be an absolute goldmine for MMRF. We sat and talked for a while longer about various things, and then they all had to head to a private dinner with the Alacatel-Lucent people, so we walked out to the lobby where they went to go get ready in their rooms and I went back to my hotel for another fun night in Vegas. I am off now to the CES for day 2 and will try and update either from the floor there or when I get back.
