.10 cents would be sweet.. TFN Reader’s Grapevine Pick: Check out Tirex Corp. (TXMC)
Today's Financial News - Posted August 4, 2009
In an economy that wants to recycle just about anything, investing a few bucks in an up-and-coming recycling company may not be a bad idea.
By Andrew Snyder, TodaysFinancialNews.com
Baltimore – (TFN): The grapevine continues to expand. Today, TFN reader Charles D. Sent us a note about Tirex Corporation (OTC PK:TXMC).
He says he is accumulating shares of the company under $0.02 expecting them to surge to at least a dime each within the next six months.
In an economy hell-bent on recycling anything and everything, the savvy investor may be onto something with this company. Do your due diligence and see if you agree.
Here’s a snippet of the research Charles sent us:
Tirex is a development stage company that engages in the design, development, and construction of a patented cryogenic tire recycling system for sale.
The company offers TCS System, which separates scrap tires into clean and saleable rubber crumb, steel wire, and fiber.
The Tirex Corporation markets its products primarily to recycling companies and governmental agencies to enable them to recycle tires. Tirex was founded in 1987 and is headquartered in Stratford, Connecticut.
Tirex’ objectives are:
– To market and distribute TCS Systems worldwide, through a network of national and international distributors and sales representatives.
– To produce and sell crumb rubber to various customers,
– To trade in crumb rubber produced by companies operating TCS Systems,
– To generate royalties from the sale of rights to use rubber crumb / thermoplastic elastomeric compounding formulas developed by Tirex either alone or in partnership with independent compounding specialists,
– To mould, extrude or otherwise fabricate and sell downstream products using rubber crumb as an input material.
THE INDUSTRY
The worldwide scrap tire problem is of massive proportions and traditional technologies to make tires disappear are not environmentally friendly and are not economically viable in the absence of government subsidies to support the disposal activities.
These subsidies are funded through taxation on tire consumption and such taxation is generally unpopular with consumers who are also electors. Many of these methods involve some form of combustion, and thus must compete with alternative energy sources.
Furthermore, combustion-based technologies frequently involve some measure of air pollution and the emission of greenhouse gasses, which emissions will come under increasing pressure to be reduced in the vast majority of the world’s developed economies.
Reduction of use of combustion-based technologies has been noticed in numerous countries, particularly in the European Union (EU). This reduction leaves more room for the non-combustion-based approaches to scrap tire disposal, such as is characterized by the TCS System.
The political and economic environments related to scrap tire disposal and the production of recycled raw materials is predictably variable; however, the basic trend line is also evident on both counts. The environmental issues are not going to go away by themselves and producers of downstream products require less expensive raw materials.
Politically, environmental protection will be a hot issue for years to come, both in terms of domestic politics and in terms of international politics. The cost of addressing these political imperatives will predictably be downloaded to the private sector as politicians will probably seek to avoid visible taxation to address the problems.
The economic imperative is particularly true in the rubber and plastics industries where costs are directly related to the cost of crude petroleum, a finite resource whose cost over time can only increase. Thus, the long-term business outlook for operators of cost effective tire recycling processes would appear to be favorable.
The ask is showing .0054 after that hrs trade..I believe that was a buy showing up as a sell..but what do I know..JMHO
Almost 2 months now from this PR..anytime now!!!

Web-monitoring software gathers data on kid chats
Web-monitoring software reads kids' private messages and sells data to advertisers

NEW YORK (AP) -- Parents who install a leading brand of software to monitor their kids' online activities may be unwittingly allowing the developer to gather marketing data from children as young as 7 -- and to sell that information.

The information is then offered to businesses seeking ways to tailor their marketing messages to kids.
"This scares me more than anything I have seen using monitoring technology," said Parry Aftab, a child-safety advocate. "You don't put children's personal information at risk."
The software does not record children's names, addresses or other identifiable information, but it knows how old they are because parents customize the programs to be more or less permissive, depending on age.
Five other makers of parental-control software contacted by The Associated Press, including McAfee Inc. and Symantec Corp., said they do not sell chat data to advertisers.
One competitor, CyberPatrol LLC, said it would never consider such an arrangement. "That's pretty much confidential information," said Barbara Rose, the company's vice president of marketing. "As a parent, I would have a problem with them targeting youngsters."
The software brands in question are developed by EchoMetrix Inc., a company based in Syosset, New York.
EchoMetrix CEO Jeff Greene said parents who don't want the company to share their child's information to businesses can check a box to opt out.
But that option can be found only by visiting the company's Web site. It was not in the agreement contained in the program itself as downloaded Thursday by The Associated Press.
According to the agreement, the software passes along data to "trusted partners." Confidentiality agreements prohibit those clients from sharing the information with others.
In recognition of federal privacy laws that restrict the collection of data on kids under 13, the agreement states that the company has "a parent's permission to share the information if the user is a child under age 13."
Tech site CNet ranks the EchoMetrix software as one of the three best for parental control. Sales figures were not available.
The Sentry and FamilySafe brands include parental-control software such as Sentry Total Family Protection, Sentry Basic, Sentry Lite and FamilySafe (SentryPC is made by a different company and has no ties with EchoMetrix).
The Lite version is free. Others range from $20 to download and $10 a year for monitoring, to about $48 a year, divided into monthly payments.
The same company also offers software under the brands of partner entities, such as AmberWatch Lookout. AmberWatch Foundation, which licenses its brand to EchoMetrix, declined to comment.
Practically speaking, few people ever read the fine print before they click on a button to agree to the licensing agreement. "Unless it's upfront in neon letters, parents don't know," Aftab said.
EchoMetrix, formerly known as SearchHelp, said companies buying the chat data have included News Corp.'s Fox Broadcasting and Dreamworks SKG Inc. Viacom Inc.'s Paramount Pictures also recently signed on.
None of those companies would comment when contacted by the AP.
EchoMetrix later said only Paramount Pictures agreed to have its affiliation disclosed. The others did not because of competitive reasons. Fox told the AP it never used the system, but sat in meetings in which EchoMetrix pitched the product.
EchoMetrix needs the business. The company has been losing money, and its liabilities exceed its assets by nearly $25 million as of June 30, according to a regulatory filing. The filing said there is "substantial doubt about the company's ability to continue as a going concern."
To get the marketing data, companies put in keywords, such as the name of a new product, and specify a date range. They get a "word cloud" display of the most commonly used words, as well as snippets of actual chats. The EchoMetrix system can slice data by age groups, region and even the instant-messaging program used.
Greene, the EchoMetrix CEO, said the company complies with U.S. privacy laws.
"We never know the name of the kid -- it's bobby37 on the house computer," he said.
What the system will reveal is how "bobby37" and other teens feel about upcoming movies, computer games or clothing trends. Such information can help advertisers craft their marketing messages as buzz builds about a product.
Days before "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" opened in theaters on July 15, teen chatter about the movie spiked across the Internet with largely positive reactions.
"Cool" popped up as one of the most heavily used words in teen chats, blogs, forums and on Twitter. The upbeat comments foreshadowed a strong opening for the Warner Bros. film.
The system also tracked buzz for Microsoft Corp.'s "Natal," a forthcoming Xbox motion-sensor device that replaces the traditional button-based controller. Microsoft is not a client of Echometrix, but EchoMetrix used "Natal" to illustrate how its data can benefit marketers.
Greene said children's conversations about Natal were focused on its price and availability, which suggested that Microsoft should assure teens that there will be enough stock and that ordering ahead can lock in a price.
Competing data-mining companies such as J.D. Power Web Intelligence, a unit of quality ratings firm J.D. Power and Associates, also trolls the Internet for consumer chats. But Vice President Chase Parker said the company does not read any data that's password-protected, such as the instant message sessions that EchoMetrix collects for advertisers.
Suresh Vittal, principal analyst at Forrester Research, said EchoMetrix might have to make its disclosures more apparent to parents.
"Are we in the safeguarding-the-children business or are we in the business of selling data to other people?" he said. If it's the latter, "it should all be done transparently and with the knowledge of the customer."

News for 'TXMC' - (Tirex Announces Retirement of Outside Auditor Principal; Change to New Firm for Fiscal 2009)
WESTPORT, Conn., Aug 12, 2009 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- The Tirex Corporation
(OTC:TXMC) late yesterday filed an 8-K "current report filing" form with the
Securities and Exchange Commission noting the change in its outside auditing
firm from Moore & Associates, Chtd. to Seale and Beers, CPAs.
"Tirex was recently informed that Michael Moore, principal of Moore &
Associates, was retiring from auditing and that Seale and Beers will be taking
over all clients and employees," according to Tirex President and CEO John L.
Threshie Jr.
The filing points out that "there have been no disagreements between The Tirex
Corporation and Moore & Associates, Chtd. on any matter of accounting principles
or practices, financial statement disclosure, or auditing scope or procedure,
which disagreement, if not resolved to the satisfaction of Moore & Associates,
Chtd., would have caused it to make a reference to the subject matter of
disagreement in connection with its reports."
Seale and Beers has been engaged to perform audit activities for the fiscal 2009
year ended June 30.
Tirex's TCS (Tirex Cryo System) process freezes scrap tire pieces with cold air
- as opposed to expensive liquid nitrogen - and then "breaks" the rubber into
granules in a patented "fracturing mill", instead of cutting and shredding it.
This process separates the marketable strands of steel and fiber from the frozen
ground rubber with a "green," environmentally-friendly, economically-attractive
tire recycling system. For more information, go to www.tirex-tcs.com.
