To All, I emailed briefing.com yesterday in response to the article on China's mobile sector and received a response. Below is the email I sent and the response I received. I will be making further contact to facilitate an awareness of what is happening currently in the wireless industry using the wealth of knowledge that I have receive from members of RB and through my own DD. As questions arise that I am unable to answer I hope I can enlist help from the board.
Briefing.com,
Your story detailing the wireless market in China is revealing but left out a key point regarding QCOM , IDCC, CHL, and RVG. While it is true that the Chinese Government is considering their own flavor of wireless, TD-SCDMA , it is not true that it is completely home grown as marked by the China Mobile Communications Association Development of a TD-SCDMA Council which they invited IDCC to be a member of and not QCOM. As noted by the press release along with Dantang Mobile IDCC is one of the few members that where asked to be part of the council because of their knowledge and patent portfolio in TDD Technology. I am pointed this out because I think your article is a little misleading to Wall Street and Investors.
"In recognition of its leading position as a global developer of TDD technology and products, InterDigital will join other Forum Council members, including Alcatel China, China Mobile, China Telecom, China Unicom, CATT, CNC, CRTC, DaTang Group, Huawei Corporation, Jitong, Siemens, Motorola, Nortel, Qualcomm, UT Starcom and Zhongxing in promoting the development and application of TD-SCDMA technology"
Thank you for the feedback on the China article that appeared on Briefing. Do you follow that sector closely because I would love to ask you some questions if you do and if you would not mind? I am not the author of that article so I cannot discuss his omissions (but I will pass this on to him). I do all the "trading floor flow" for the Inplay page.
