I just want to thank the bashers who showed up here today. They most obligingly helped me pick up a bunch more 45s. Much appreciated!

Thanks, Pennies!

Autom8tion: What is your source for asserting what the outstanding share count is at this time?
Thanks and good luck

BKHM if you please. Thanks!
-Fritz
Thanks, all. I had a feeling that was going to be the answer. LOL!

Anybody know if RIG is already one of our current customers?

I found this quote interesting:
Long said Transocean is not abandoning the jackups, but will leave certain "niche" markets in order "to focus the company on the higher end of the market." The Gulf of Mexico, once home to one of the world's largest jackup fleets, has become something of a backwater in recent years, as the amount of oil and gas taken from shallow U.S. waters has fallen.
Further evidence DDI is clearly out there on the cutting edge as our whole focus is on the "higher end of the market".
Good luck!
-Fritz
Thanks, Clay. Excellent work and very enlightening.
Best of Luck!

ARUN, please if you have the time. Thanks!

Yes, It could be a head fake. But I think that's not likely.
Here is a chart by Claytrader. I think it reflects what we're all thinking.

You got it, Ogclip. As long as you're nimble you should be ok. BTW, I've been looking closely at ARUN. What do you make of it?
-Fritz
Be careful. NURO has serious issues with insurance companies and social security refusing to pay for their diagnostic technology.
Can't speak on the TA but the fundies are why it has tanked.
Good luck.

Iknowaguy:
There is substantial institutional ownership here and looks like its put in a bottom. Chart is shaping up nicely as a pincher. Now I've got to get digging to see why the pps fell off the table.
Any clues?
Good luck.

Uganda is a landlocked country. I don't think this represents much of a market for DPDW's area of expertise, unless they've found reserves in the bottom of Lake Victoria! LOL

Sentiment : Strong Sell
Sage, yes I agree with you and have had that opinion from the get-go. This is why I bought into DPDW in the first place. But the Allis-Chalmers justification for reduced earnings, i.e., "weak demand for drill pipes in the Gulf of Mexico" quite simply contradicts our common assessment here on this board, hence my puzzlement.
-Fritz
No problem, Joe. The Yahoo MBs are definitely desolate and dismal places populated by all manner of infantile characters. I still peruse them so as to occasionally find some useful info.
Good luck!
-Fritz
Thanks, Sage, jdsgungho, Doog and everyone else.
"Operating results in the fourth quarter of 2007 were primarily impacted by:
• Weakness in demand for drill pipe in the Gulf of Mexico due to the hurricane season and the departure of rigs to the international market.
It does seem that the GOM is "maturing" to use a description of one of the analysts given earlier. There are certainly deepwater
opportunities in the GOM, but perhaps they are limited. I guess we'll have to wait a little while to see the extent of DPDW's ability to penetrate the international market, which is where the action is (and the profit margins lol!).
Good luck!
-Fritz
JoeSmith I'm not sure what you mean by that.
Thats why I said "partially attributed". Still, the question remains, how could they say demand is down? Is demand down for their particular products? Or is this a wider indicator? Could this be the reason for the downturn in DPDW pps?
-Fritz
I'm scratching my head on the Allis-Chalmers 4Q Forecast.
I found it posted on the DPDW yahoo board. They are reducing their earnings forecast and partially attributing this to weak demand for drill pipes in the Gulf of Mexico! This seems counter to all of our assumptions on the demand for oil services. Any thoughts on this?
Thanks and Good luck!

Force Protection Stock Rises on Upgrade

Force Protection Upgraded, Analyst Says Management Change Brings 'Fresh Eyes' to Company
NEW YORK (AP) -- Shares of armored vehicle maker Force Protection Inc. rose Monday after an upgrade from a Stephens Inc. analyst, who said the company's change in leadership could help it cope with declining orders.
Tim Quillin upgraded the stock to "Equal weight" from "Underweight." Force Protection shares have lost more than 80 percent of their value since the end of May, as the U.S. military has cut down on orders of mine-resistant ambush protected vehicles, or MRAPs. Quillin raised his price target to $5 per share from $4.
The stock added 32 cents, or 6.9 percent, to $4.94. The stock reached a seven-year high of $31.16 on May 22.
Force Protection's Chief Executive Gordon McGilton retired at the end of January. As a result, Quillin said, the company will try new solutions to its problems, which include a lack of buyers for its lighter Cheetah vehicle -- which Quillin described as vital to Force Protection's success.
"This should bring fresh eyes to Force Protection's strategic challenges, particularly its need to rebuild its revenue base as the MRAP program winds down," he said.
Unless the Cheetah is a big success, Quillin said he does not think the stock has much room to rise.
Quillin said the company could sell itself to a buyer that wants to enter the military vehicle market. However, he thinks the stock price is too high to be attractive. New management should also create better relationships with investors, he wrote.

They are now collectively at 80%.
It's going to get very interesting around here real soon.

The articles are in the iBox.
Both subjects are re: the 50% rule.
Good luck!
-Fritz
Laners: I too am a beginner but there are two articles on Bill Panetta's board which shows you when to get out and lock in your profits in a relatively safe manner. He calls it the 50% rule.
I was just re-reading those two articles tonight after seeing everybody stress out because FRPT closed red today. If I'm reading his strategy correctly, today was nothing to worry about because we closed exactly at the 50% mark of the last green candle day (which was yesterday). As an added indicator, we didn't violate the 5 day moving average, giving us even more confidence. If today we had violated the 50% rule, then tomorrow would be a day to sell and lock in your profits. Since we didn't violate the rule I'm still in until we brake that line at the close of another day. As he says, this takes the emotion out of it, also called "gut feelings", which often get us into trouble because they are emotion based and not fact based.
Check them out and you will deal with these things with more confidence.
Good Luck!
-Fritz
It is indeed a beautiful chart IMHO.
Good luck!

I agree with you assessment on the significance of this particular job posting. IMHO a company would not create this position and fill it in the hopes that they eventually get some overeas contracts. This job posting virtually shouts out that these contracts already exist.
Good luck!
-Fritz
Thanks for your efforts Clay Trader. A very appealing chart indeed.

First time I saw a whale conducting DD.
-Fritz
Something to think about over the long weekend (I posted this on Yahoo last night):
In December, institutions held just over 60% of the outstanding shares. Sorts were in over 23%. Based upon the clues we've gotten from www.buyins.net, and with the pps trading at straight up book value and the P/E at only 5 times trailing earnings, I would not be surprised to learn that the institutions have increased their holdings this month to near 70% of the O/S. Now, we retailers talk about squeezing shorts all the time but the fact is we small fry just can't conduct an effective squeeze. However, nobody can put together a MOASS like a few coordinating institutions holding almost 70% of the O/S. They know how and when to jump on the shorts and bleed them till they cry. Something to think about...
Good Luck!
-Fritz
Clay, thanks for the info. Still learning here. Thanks for "filling the gap"!
-Fritz
Clay, Thanks for the FRPT chart. Was wondering what you used to come up with the $3.55 line as the reversal indicator?
Thanks and good luck!
-Fritz
Thanks, Flatsixer. Great info and thanks for the lingo translation. Now I can sleep in peace without trying to solve that little puzzle! LOL!
