Yeahhhh, now that you mention it, scardee, ol' Vandervoor is a bit of a mystery muppet. After he told me he collected brightly feathered antique riding crops I knew immediately he had a dark side. LOLOL
I've been on this board for about three years and I'll tell you that I've never had ANY reason to suspect that Glenn is posting here. I know on an off-board basis many of the principals who post here and I'm sure none of them is Glenn.
Oh YEAHHHH! The Vegas big-time Axis celebration. It's going to be a blowout.
I'm gonna wear a T-shirt that says in big letters, "SORRY!!" then below it'll say in smaller print..."I'm not Glenn Little"
On the back will be the words "I DON"T WANT TO..." below the words will be a picture of those three monkeys: "See Evil, Hear Evil, Speak to Evil"
Pig-man, if you are saying that it will be $2+ by October 2 without any news, then I want some of whatever you're smoking. LOL
Mind you, I'd be delighted if it did, but I just don't think a lot of buyers are going to jump in until they know the day and the hour of an announcement. Most of the really big money on the sidelines, as well as the dry ammo of the larger investors, won't be committed until the announcement is published. Too many of us have seen too many promises that went unfulfilled by well-meaning but perennialy wrong prognosticators. Been there, done that, got the T-Shirt.
BTW, the T-shirt says: "I'm one of the dummies that bought Axis Stock at 2.40!"
Kaeamrjs says, "Don't get too hyped up about this pinkie, you are only going to get disappointed."
Why do you hang out here? You are not an investor in Axis. All you do is badmouth it.
Appears to be rather neurotic behavior. You may need medication.
Kaeamrjs said "By the way G,after 3 years you can stop using the word imminent."
I had to look up to see who used the "i" word last, otherwise I wouldn't know who Glenn was this week. Apparently, I am no longer Glenn. Winnie, sorry, Evil has identified you as Glenn. LOL
Personally, I like the word "imminent". It's one of those fuzzy words that can mean almost anything. What I consider "imminent" may be completely different for you.
For example, as compared the age of the universe, an appropriate answer as to when our sun will go nova is "it's imminent", even though it's 4 or 5 billion years away.
So, in the immortal words of that cigar-dipping ex-president, Bill Clinton, "It depends on what the definition of "is" is."
That site is for Axis Energy Services, not Axis Energy Corporation. It's a different, unrelated company.
People, I've seen this at least two dozen times. Predictions based upon what "he said". We are not well served by well-meaning people who predict the future like they know what they are talking about. Those folks have been wrong 100% of the time, and I believe they will be wrong again. Unfortunately, they leave in their wake investors who swallow the kool aid and feel cheated when the predictions fall flat.
There are few greater champions of this stock than the ol'captain. This thing is gonna happen. A month or so ago I said October/November looked good. I still believe that. But that too is just an educated guess based on three years of keeping my ear to the ground.
Re-read Winnie's post. It contains a lot of wisdom. Don't get suckered in. Stay the course, stay patient. Know that it's all heading in the right direction.
Finally, Libya confirms what the world already knew...
Shokri Ghanem, the chairman of Libya's state oil company NOC, is no longer in the post, a senior source in the Libyan parliament said.
Asked about media reports that Ghanem had resigned, the source in the General People's Congress, speaking on condition of anonymity, said: "He is gone."
Ghanem's departure is likely to be viewed as a setback by foreign oil majors, including BP (BP.L: Quote, Profile, Research) and ExxonMobil (XOM.N: Quote, Profile, Research) which have invested millions of dollars in Libya and regarded the reform-minded Ghanem as a reliable partner.
Ghanem could not immediately be reached for comment on Tuesday, and the NOC has made no official statement about his departure from the post.
The only official reference to a change in management at NOC was a statement on the company's internet site about a Sept. 9 meeting with a visiting German delegation which referred to Azzam al Messallati as the acting chairman.
Excellent post, Winnie! So true.
Ramadan ends on Saturday, September 19. At sunset on that day begins the holiday called eid al-Fitr through the weekend. Things should be getting back to "normal" a week from tomorrow, September 21. So now the rabid speculation begins again. Sigh....
This is Ahmed al-Crunch, your Islamic Holiday reporter, signing off.

When do we GIVE UP?
we shall fight on the seas and oceans,
we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our dream, whatever the cost may be,
we shall fight on the beaches,
we shall fight on the landing grounds,
we shall fight in the fields and in the streets,
we shall fight in the hills;
we shall never surrender!
Nice job, Richard. You are a gifted summarizer. LOL
C'mon, Winnie. You've got to admit it's massively better than listening to Dr. Evil's crap. Think of a cheerleader with really big pom-poms that she shakes in time with the music.... Yeah....and a real short skirt...yeah, that's the ticket....and her name is...RICHARD SMITH???
Ohhhhh, I've fallen and I can't get up...
Only 100 shares traded at $1.1? It would appear someone wanted the lower price for the weekend.
Sorry to burst your bubble Evil but it should never have traded under $5.00. It has rolled over and going for a retest of the highs $7.50 I believe. Probably only pause there on its way to a $72.00 and above.
LOL This post is nearly as stupid as the one before it. Just wanted our resident nimrod to experience a whacked out post from the other side of the aisle. You see, anyone can type moronic drivel.
Both of you are right and both of you are wrong. Axis did trade at 1.11. But they were Form T Transactions and occured after the bell. The next to last trade was for 100 shares at 1.11 and occured at 16:03. The last trade was at 16:05 for 200 shares at 1.11. It looks like MMs settling their books.
The rules for Pinkies are that when the trades happen after hours the last trade before the bell sets the closing. Therefore, closed at .85 Strange, but true.
It will be interesting to see where we open in the morning. I'd bet .85
This is a good time for stout hearted opportunists. I picked up 1000 shares at a very nice price today. I'll be on the lookout for other opportunties in the weeks ahead.
Well, Richard, you're comparing apples to oranges.
A tender offer is like a request for proposal. Look for example at the tender for Verenex Energy. They are looking for proposals for someone to operate a medical station in area 47.
Not one of the tenders you have pointed out has anything to do with granting oil concessions.
You ask questions as if someone on this board has the answer and is stubbornly refusing to share it. I'm convinced no one outside the NOC knows when the NOC will decide that the time is right to announce. That's the cold sad truth! Not insiders. Not the parent company dealmakers. Not the drillers. All of them are waiting like you and me. It's time for you to accept it or move on. Most of us on this board have been waiting fo years and hold "truck loads" of this stock.
It will happen when it happens. No amount of wishful thinking or repetitive demands for information will help do anything except annoy the rest of us.
I'll speculate that there will be no announcement in the next six days.
That's my story, and I'm sticking to it!
Ok I've been getting angry emails from Gerald, Gordon, Gary, George, Glenn, Gregg, Gus and Geoff. Each was sure I meant him when I said that the rumor of the announcement coming before Ramadan came from someone with the first name initial of "G". Sheesh! Lighten up, guys!
Ok here's a Little hint. Who said it was a guy?! LOL
Spoken like a true gentleman!
Anybody up for that boat ride? Winnie? Scardee? MrPhat? Vandervoor? Pig Man?
Kaeamrjs, I'd even give it to you if no one else wants it.
By the way, if you go, just ignore those disgusting stories you'll hear about the Chauncey twins. They did their time, and no ever proved those allegations of cannibalism.
Here's our winner folks! Richard Smith, come on down!!
You have posted Axis iHUB Post #5000!!!!
Tell him what he's won, Jerry!!
(Jerry from offstage) Richard, we hope you love the water, because we are sending you on a cruise aboard the beautiful 12 foot rowboat, "Yellow Gills" on a gorgeous farm pond owned by the Chauncey Twins of Catfish Falls, Iowa. Total estimated monetary value----$139!!!
Congratulations, Richard!
So true, young grasshopper. So true.
Occam was known to oft remark, "The simplest explanation is most often the correct explanation."
The simplest explanation is: the guy's an idjit.
Yes, Win4Me, there has been a cosmic event. It was caused by another unfortunate Dr Evil prediction. The evil doctor's pronouncement results in a radical bending of the time/space continuum which causes dimensional space to wrap back upon itself. This results in what is called Occam's Razor Paradox, i.e. events will unfold in our reality exactly opposite from the way evil says it will happen.
Several Quantum Physicists, including Stephen Hawking, have theorized that the entire universe could cease to exist if an evil prediction ever presaged subsequent reality.
I'll offer my views on your questions.
VNX and Axis have no direct linkages. They share a common industry and country of interest, so people try to understand what is happening to Verenex as a way to interpret what is happening to Axis. Conclusions are speculative at best as their situations are radically different. What happens to one company likley means little or nothing to the other.
The best parallel I can think of to explain Ramadan is to loosely compare it to what happens in many large western companies during the week before and the week after Christmas. Work doesn't stop, but the pace slows, lots of people are taking time off from work, companies sometimes go on half-day schedules, etc. No one in their right mind would schedule an important meeting during this period. People just accept that this is a "down" time.
But instead of two weeks, Ramadan lasts a month, followed immediately by another big celebratory holiday that lasts several days - the al fitr feast days. Things do close down during these feast days, and people use them for family time, travelling, visiting, partying, etc.
Hope this helps.
Verenex, a Canadian oil exploration company that has enjoyed spectacular success on its Libyan concession released its second quarter 2009 report yesterday.
The report contained an ominous-sounding statement that caught my eye:
"The Company is continuing to seek the consent of the Libyan authorities for the sale of Verenex. Representatives of Verenex are in discussions with Libyan authorities to seek an amicable solution to the current impasse on securing sale approvals. Investors are cautioned that there can be no assurance that consent to the CNPCI Agreement will be received soon from Libyan authorities, or that a sale transaction will be concluded on the terms contemplated in the CNPCI Agreement or at all."
Richard, there are many reasons why I believe that Axis is not all “smoke and mirrors”. I’ve been a relatively large Axis investor for well over two years.
Axis has been a tough road for investors. Many have lost patience and departed for more quickly moving deal making. Information has been sparse, and sometimes exaggerated by well meaning, but misguided individuals. Investors were largely left to fend for themselves, the company perennially believing that a deal was very nearly done. Oh, if only they had known then what they know now!
Axis was always an important piece of the strategy, but it is only a piece of a larger but liitle known picture involving a financial parent and other junior partners. The country in which we are trying to close a deal, Libya, has its own set of cultural and business norms much different from Western standards. The value of discretion, confidentiality, mutual respect and patience cannot be over emphasized. So Axis made an early strategic decision to go about its pursuing its goals in a decidedly low-key way. Press releases were rare and those few were about people, never about the deal. No fluff, no pumping, no press releases, zero details.
I’ve learned much of the Axis Story from talking to industry experts, large investors, people close to the company, and by doing solid basic research. I’ve had countless conversations with oil investment experts, people familiar with doing business in Libya, and people close to the deal that Axis has been trying to close for more than two years. Together with a small handful of very smart investors that I work with on nearly a daily basis, we’ve systematically and diligently put together what I believe is a high fidelity picture of what is going on with this company and what it is trying to do. Axis has lately begun to enjoy the fruits of their patience and shrewd business methods. I strongly believe they are on the cusp of finally announcing some exciting developments. I continue to see September/October as the realistic window.
How DARE YOU take someone to task for missing a prediction!
What a low-down, low life thing to do for someone who has NEVER been right! NEVER!!!! Not even ONCE!!!
Stop maligning people on this board!
Scardee,
Are you saying then that Ramadan is not wholly holy?
Outstanding shares remains steady at 41,663,600 (re-verified on 08/03/09)
I totally agree that we will see movement here a few weeks before we'll see an Axis PR. In my opinion, movement will be predicated on what is happening with a senior partner in the Joint Venture. I'm still putting my money on late September / early October.
People who haven't followed the stock will be scratching their heads trying to figure out why the SP is going up. As Pig-man has stated some will likely sell their shares on the first bump, not realizing that the biggest bump is yet to come.
As least that's what Petey, my trustworthy peglegged parrot, says.
This an interesting email I received from Air Trans Airline that talks to the issue of Oil Speculation.
"Last summer, AirTran Airways participated in Stop Oil Speculation Now, a multi-industry coalition of businesses, associations and concerned citizens united in support of responsible energy policies and prices. Public outrage and congressional debate helped deflate the oil bubble and return prices to reasonable levels. You can help make a difference again this year.
While fuel costs have declined this year in comparison to last, there is still quite a bit of volatility in the prices that affect not only our business, but you personally-- in the prices you pay for fuel for your vehicles as well as goods that are transported to the stores.
"Increasingly over the past few years, a growing group of financial players with no direct stake in the physical delivery of oil has exercised undue and unchecked influence on the price of oil, causing great pain for consumers and wreaking havoc on American businesses of all kinds - including airlines and their customers. Recently, the Wall Street Journal reported that continued speculation could "worsen the global economic downturn." We cannot allow this to happen.
"We need your help. Get more information and contact Congress by visiting the S.O.S. Now website. You can also follow S.O.S. Now on Facebook and Twitter."
Pig-man said:

Scardeecat, your Eminence, I don't wish to appear inimical but, pray tell, how imminent would be the "imminence" to which you intimate in your recent post?
BTW, Admin Squad, though you may not understand this, it is on-topic.
I haven't quite figured out why AXGC is taking such wild swings in SP lately with so little volume. Maybe there's a different algorithm used by MMs when a stock is over $1.00.
Up nearly 10% on volume of 1200! Who would've thunk it? LOL
